Two bills fail to make it out of committee. There was little support for them after public testimony but the Senate passed them anyway. The House Education Committee actually listened to the public and they are "dead".
A couple contentious public testimony sessions. The push for inclusion of specific groups while excluding others continues. Inclusion should mean all, but does not with some of these bills.
See what bills made it through one of the chambers. Some of these bills have already moved through committee.
March 8th is the deadline to pass bills out of chamber. Some bills are already speeding through the other chamber. Ready to teach about Bone Marrow Donation? Sounds like its coming.
Fiscal policy cutoff has been reached. Which bills will make it through the chamber of record and which will have to be reincarnated next year?
Some bills are now "dead" and others were passed out of committee so they can continue to work on them.
Last week for bills to pass out of the original chamber. Executive session was pretty busy this week. More to come this week. Some of these bills are carving into the school day to make room for other activities.
Should be some exciting public testimony this week. Lot of testimony against bills that the committees passed anyway. Will they do it again? Highly likely.
The 2023 legislation starts tomorrow and some interesting bills have been pre-filed. Here is a quick look at the pre-filed bills that pertain to education.

This is the end of the 2022 Legislative session. Nothing exciting for education but a couple of surprises for bills that did not pass.
The deadline to pass one chamber has gone by HB 1162 made the cut this week. Now a lot of bills are in executive session this week.
The beginning of the 2022 Legislative session and a little activity to report. This is only a 60 day session, so things will move more quickly.
Cost of Living increases that are in the operating budget are presented as well as current state of bills. Legislative session did end last week.
HB 1085 signed into law and others working their way through the process. 5265 is currently considered dead.
April 11th at 5:00 pm is the cutoff for bills to pass the other chamber. Many of these bills should be signed in the next two weeks.
Some new bills that passed the Senate, and updates on two bills that have been signed into law.
Here is my final case brief project that I did about teachers taking cell phones from students. The law is pretty clear and favors the teachers. Thinking Arkansas is a good place to teach if you like to take students' phones.
Updates on bills. February 15th is the last day for bills to move out of committees of the original chamber. If there are financial implications, Appropriations and Ways and Means get extra time to move bills to the floor.
