Helen Monk, Raised in the small New Zealand town of Otaki, Helen fell in love with Bruce, at the time a young farmer, and they have spent their lives responding to the call of God together. Sometimes we are trying to ‘assembly’ the best life from everything we got from God. And then Jesus is inviting us to deny ourselves and follow him. It’s pricy, but worthy on the other side! Why? Because following Jesus reveals real purpose of our life. Then our skills, gifts, relationships, character… are assembled according to the manual directly from God – our author and creator. And then our life starts to make sense!

God is showing the model when Jesus washed disciples’ feet. Whether it is a robe – the royalty or a towel – the service, it’s all the same in the Kingdom. When we read the gospels, Jesus would always connect those two. He always did three things: preaching the gospel, teaching (explaining what he spoke about) and demonstrating the power of the gospel (healing the sick, touch those who were in need, give them a bread and fish). What the society and the city we live in needs today is exactly this – practical demonstration of the gospel of Jesus!

Honour is one of the key values in the Kingdom of God. This attitude reveals the treasure in lives of the people. And this treasure can be dirty in the beginning, but it is getting out from dirt by honour! We are called to honour God’s presence, mothers and fathers, wives and husbands, authorities, spiritual leaders, one another and ourselves… Why? Because honour is releasing treasure and that is bringing blessings on both sides!

In our houses, we usually have a spare room or the place where we keep things we don’t need. In the same way, we can have some things in our lives which we should get rid off. They don’t need to be bad at first glance, but they can steal our time, energy and focus from something which is much better. God has always something better ready for us. And if he is asking to give up on something, we can be sure, that he will fulfil his promise!

God calls us, the church, his household (Ephesians 2:19). Sometimes we don’t understand how God could connect us but we are his household, God’s house, part of the same family. We are sons and daughters planted in the house with opportunity to grow there. Nobody can reach people alone, we need to become sons and daughters - born in the house, trained in the house and fighting for the house!

Our lives are the shop window to God's house. It does not glorify God if our life is neglected or ruined - not even for the church or ministry! If we don't care about our life/house how will we manage God's household? Do build your house, but with your house build his house. As you build God's house God promises to build yours. And he is a much better and more generous builder!

Building God’s House is not easy. We have to be ready to deny ourselves. We have to be ready to take our cross and follow him. And that is pricy. Sometimes we go through our emotions but at the end, we have to admit: ‘It’s not about me’. If you build the God’s house, he will build yours!

God has already prepared everything for you: the anointing of the Holy Spirit, the talents, the gifts, the charismas, the connections, the resources…everything you need, you have in Jesus! He has given it all to you. Sometimes we just need to be activated, commissioned, ordained to be the Body of Christ in the city you live in. Then through you, the city can be transformed for the love of Jesus!

Archippus was an ordinary guy, in an ordinary church, in an ordinary city. It doesn’t matter how ordinary you feel, God has called you to complete, to fulfil the ministry and calling. God doesn’t expect from you to be perfect. He qualifies you in the process! We want to build a culture where it is normal to do acts of kindness with pleasure. Where it is normal to serve and to volunteer.

There is an upgrade from being believer to being a disciple of Jesus Christ. Disciples got a fresh dose of spiritual power and authority in the anointing of the Holy Spirit. If you are disciple of Jesus Christ, you are his ambassador and you carry the authority of His kingdom. And the result of the discipleship is that we look like Christ at the end. Discipleship is the best bible school - when you walk in the footprints of Jesus!
Our mission has to be driven by two revelations. By revelation of the presence of God and by revelation that I cannot do it without His fire. It has to come from a place of intimacy with God. It has to come from the revelation that God is still on the throne. It has to come from the fresh touch of His fire, of His Holy Spirit in our lives. And then you can hear the call as prophet Isaiah: ‘Who will go for us?’ God is looking for people who are courageous and will say: God I will go, I will shine, I will be the light, I will be the mission, I will be the ambassador. Are you ready to respond to this calling?

In some seasons, God is doing something we don’t understand, but we follow. We don’t need to understand everything, we don’t need to understand every time. But we need to follow Jesus in every time because he is our rock! Christianity is not about what I know or about my talent but about if I am close enough to hear God even when he whispers.

We are going to try our best, but at the end of the day it has to be the ministry of the Holy Spirit. He is not just self-serving manifestation, He actually does have a plan for us in this season. As we step into this season as a church, He is the “main stream,” He is in charge. He is the key to revival.

It is worthy to trust God that He knows what is good for us. He has the full picture of our life. This is why we should let the righteousness in His hands. Once we take it to ours, we declare that we know what is good and evil, better than Him. But even when we do that and then slip, Holy Spirit is ready to convict us in order to keep our identity in Christ.

Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. Therefore, solitude is not about being alone, but to be with God and honour Him. It can help us to to overcome distractions, allows us to hear God’s voice, changes the way we think, builds relationship with God, builds our discipline and prepares us for what’s coming next to our lives.

The history of Israel is divided into two seasons: before Samuel and after Samuel. Before Samuel, Israel was a different nation. But after Samuel, it became a Kingdom. Samuel was used by God in a powerful way as he learnt to minister in the presence of God and to listen to the Word of God. Very simple lesson. God wants to teach us to listen so we would know how to act and what to obey in personal direction, marriage/family, our call to ministry and giving.

The presence of God is not automatic, it’s not programmed, without holiness and without relationship with God. We love to go to places where people like our presence. It’s the same with the Spirit of God. He loves to come to places where we love Him, where we welcome Him, where we host His presence.
Faith is the foundation in our Christian life. When God called Ezekiel to speak faith over the dry bones, the dry bones came alive and became the army glorifying God. In this world we face many challenges. However, we can overcome them by faith! And we are here to please God. How? Only by faith. How by faith? By faith in action!
