Doing Our Best!

On the Doing Our Best! podcast we will be having evidence based chats about health and wellbeing topics you want to know about, digesting what we’ve learnt and how you can implement it in your daily life. Both of us work ‘9-5’ jobs in London, and know how busy and demanding life can be. When they met, they instantly bonded over everything from blood sugar balancing tips to niche nut butters (walnut ftw) to cocktails and careers (and our fur babies 🐶). Gone are the days of trying to be perfect - you don’t need to have a 10 step morning routine, daily green juice + 20 minute meditation practise to be healthy. We’re all human and want you to benefit from what we’ve learnt to feel your best in sustainable and fun ways!Thalia and Madi x

This is an episode you don’t want to miss. The incredible Imo (they/them) vulnerably shares their trans experience, and how gender affirming care quite literally saved their life ❤️

In this conversation we also discuss with Imo the realities of being a person of trans experience navigating the health system, the inseparable connection of the brain & body, and how you can show up to support the queer community.

We also share our usual recommendations + herb of the week 👀

Please give Imo a follow on insta to hear more from them & support their new body work business - @queerbodywork 🏃‍♀️

A few notes on todays episode:

  • What Imo shared is their unique experience. They aren’t intending to speak on behalf of all other people of trans experience.
  • People of trans experience do not owe us this explanation. Imo was incredibly generous with what they share in this episode, and their openness to answering questions. But this is not a right of ours, so please be mindful of not putting expectations on others people of trans experience to share their stories.
  • We owe people of trans experience our support. Please consider how you can continue to educate yourself on issues effecting people of trans experience, and how you can support then as they navigate these especially challenging times.
  • Correction on a statistic: in 1993 the African Nation congress endorsed the legal recognition of same sex marriages, but sodomy was only struck from the books in 1997 in South Africa.

Thankfully this is just part 1 of the conversation! Join us next week for part 2 where we delve deeper into what body work is and how you can use it to unlock your full potential 🔐

Join Thalia and Madi as they delve into the often confusing (but fun) topic of alcohol and health - can the two co-exist?

The ritual of de-stressing with a glass of wine after a long day, having a drink for some ‘dutch courage’ in social situations or having a few glasses to enjoy with friends at dinner or the pub, are all ways in which we use alcohol in modern society. However, we all know the feeling after a few too many the next day (or days after) - the foggy brain, nausea, anxiety and more. So, can that be avoided? If so, how? This episode dives into the tried and trusted ways to prepare your body for alcohol, what to do during and after consumption - whether it’s one drink or three. We also discuss our own relationship with alcohol, if supplements really help a hangover and how we help lessen the hangxiety and nourish our cells and souls the days after.

Thalia and Madi sit down to discuss a topical subject right now, how to eat healthy whilst on a budget. Nutritious food can be expensive, but it is possible to keep eating in a way that makes you look and feel your best when watching your pennies.

With food costs higher than ever (up £454 year-on-year*), we understand that the size of your (and our) food bill is going up. This might be more of a concern than whether the food in your basket is healthy or not, but it’s possible to look after both.

In this episode we dive into the tips we use for how to nourish our bodies, without breaking the bank including; why you don’t need to buy your veg organic, why frozen veg has wrongly had a bad rep, an easy traffic light system for managing your budget and much more.

We hope you enjoy listening and in the meantime, keep doing your best! 🤘

Join Madi and Thalia for a chat about all things hormones! With more research (but still not enough) coming out about women’s hormones, we wanted to breakdown how you can harness the power of these changes throughout the month through what you eat and how you exercise - which will naturally effect how you think and feel too. Thalia has been cycle-syncing for 2 years and attributes the severe lessening in her #PCOS symptoms to this practise.

We go through the 4 phases of the menstrual cycle, explaining how these natural change in hormones affects everything from our energy to mood to hunger levels and some tips on how you can start to practice cycle syncing so you feel more in-sync with your cycle, rather than feeling it’s against you.

We’re VERY excited to announce that we have joined forces to launch the Doing Our Best! podcast. We’ll be having evidence based chats about health and wellbeing topics you want to know about, digesting what we’ve learnt and how you can implement it in your daily life.

Both Madi and Thalia work ‘9-5’ jobs in London, and know how busy and demanding life can be.

We’re all human and want you to benefit from what we’ve learnt to feel your best in sustainable and fun ways!

We can’t wait to share this with you, so keep your eyes and ears open for our first episode coming next week 👀

In the meantime, keep doing your best! 🤘
