I’m so excited and grateful that you are here. Raising Loveliness is a concept I’ve nurtured in different ways over the years. The original idea behind Raising Loveliness is to help moms bring out the best in ourselves and our children, because I believe that as more of us love ourselves and create lives we love, the more loving we can be towards one another – and together, ever so gradually, we can cultivate a kinder, more compassionate world. I believe in the power and beauty of community – of coming together to find some common ground, of sharing our stories, and cheering each other on through our challenges and our victories. If you’re looking for guidance, ideas, and inspiration to help you make your vision – both for your life and your business – a reality, you’re in exactly the right place and I can’t wait to share this journey with you!Whether you gain new insights or ideas that you can apply to your business or life as mom, or you simply find connection and realize you’re not alone in this incredible journey, I hope that this podcast can support you in loving yourself and your gifts, and in living a life that lights you up.

I’ve been in the online business world for over a decade now, and while so much has changed, the one thing that has stayed consistent is the importance of having a mailing list.

And unfortunately, I know this is still a common area where so many business owners struggle.

How do you get your right people to join your mailing list?

And so I’m grateful and excited to share today’s interview with you.

Today, I’m talking with Andrea Shah, a launch copywriter and strategist based in sunny South Florida. Her copy helps course creators and service providers hit their next big goal— without using sales tactics that compromise their integrity. When she’s not typing at warp speed, you can find her doing Pilates, baking fall desserts (yes, even in Florida) or doing crafts with her daughter.

Listen in as we talk about:

  • What a lead magnet is (and why it matters for your business)
  • How to choose an idea for your lead magnet
  • Common mistakes (and how to avoid them)
  • How to create a lead magnet your clients can use (that leads them to want to take the next step and work with you)

In our conversation today, Andrea is sharing all of her top recommendations for how to create a lead magnet that your ideal clients love, so that you can build your mailing list with ease. Take a little time and listen now.

True story: Many years ago, when I first launched my business, I thought that having a professional website was essential for my success.

Not knowing anything about building websites, I went on one of those freelance hiring sites and put up a job posting for a website.

I hired a team I thought would do a good job, even though the budget was a bit of a stretch.

Unfortunately, my experience was less than amazing. The team built a pretty basic site, it wasn’t even complete when they just disappeared, and having that website did nothing to bring in paying clients.

Now fortunately, I have a pretty techie husband who was able to figure out web design and set me up with a site that worked and he’s built my sites ever since. However, I know that not everyone is in this situation and I don’t want you to have to go through the same challenges and frustrations that I did.

And so I’m grateful and excited to share today’s interview with you. Today we’re talking with Michelle Pontvert, a branding and website designer with 12 years of design experience, who specializes in working with overstretched parents with service-based businesses who are ready to scale up their businesses and scale back their overtime.

Michelle lives with her husband and adorable 2 year old in Paris, far from her native Australia or adoptive homeland America, and balances serving her clients and being a hands-on Mum.

Join us for episode 13 as we discuss:

  • The key elements to include in your website (whether you DIY or hire a pro)
  • What matter most when it comes to having a website for your business
  • Exactly what to look for when hiring a web designer
  • How a website can support your business (even if you’re just starting out)

Whether you’re planning to hire a web designer or planning to do it yourself, Michelle has so many great tips and ideas for you, so take a little time and listen now.

In this episode of Raising Loveliness, we’re talking all about conscious living and conscious parenting.

On a personal note, I’ll say that this is something that I never really thought about until I became a mom.

Very early on after my first child was born, I started thinking about everything I wanted for her and how I always wanted her to love herself and live a life she loved.

And when I thought about how to support her in this throughout the years to come, I realized that I wasn’t living by example. I’d kind of lived my life as a people-pleaser, doing what I thought I was “supposed” to do without loving myself or making choices that lit me up.

It was this realization that opened the door to what became years and years (and yes, it’s still ongoing) of learning to live and parent with intention.

And so I’m grateful to have this conversation with Kim Muench, a Certified Conscious Parenting Coach who specializes in working with mothers of adolescents.

Kim’s three plus decades raising five children and years of coaching other parents empowers her to lead her clients with compassion and without judgment into healthier, happier, more functional relationships.

Listen to episode 12 as we talk about:

  • What conscious parenting is (and how it can support you and your child)
  • Why Kim chose to become a parenting coach (and what parenting coaching is all about)
  • Kim’s experience in writing a book (and how she hopes it will help children and parents)

Whether Conscious Parenting is new to you or something you’ve been doing for years, I know that Kim has so much to offer and hope that this episode supports you on your journey.

There’s a myth about motherhood that we should somehow be able to do it all.

It’s that comparison game that always leaves us on the losing end no matter where we stand.

This feels especially true for those of us that wear the hat of both mom and business owner.

While we can do a lot, the truth is that anything we say yes to means we’re saying no to something else.

My guest today is Karen Herbert. Karen is a life coach, the founder of Themelios Coaching, and the creator of the Life in Abundance Coaching Program. She specializes in supporting empty nesting and almost-empty nesting moms to thrive through the transition and create their next great season of life.

Listen in as Karen and I get into all the real feelings of guilt and inadequacy that so many moms struggle with and just how to give yourself grace on this journey we call motherhood.

In This Episode We Discuss:

  • Why we need to release our guilt surrounding our own weaknesses
  • How negativity bias causes us to respond to expectations and keeps us from making the choices we want to make
  • The importance of getting clear on who you are and freeing yourself from the comparison game.
  • Just how much of a difference self-compassion makes in allowing yourself to move forward
  • Why we should drop the guilt around asking our family to make sacrifices for each other equally, and instead use the opportunity to lead by example.

This conversation with Karen was so life-giving. My biggest takeaway was if we can choose to give ourselves grace and learn the importance of self-compassion, the pressure to do it all will turn into a willingness to learn as we go.

Not only that, but the compassion we show ourselves will act as a healthy model to our children that they can carry with them into adulthood.

Have you ever struggled to explain to people exactly what you do and who you serve?

If you have ever started your own business, you know the challenge of defining your business messaging.

My guest today has developed a passion for helping others define their message by pushing past limiting beliefs and getting to the core of what they do and who they serve.

Shi Chen is a certified business coach, wife, mama of two daughters, and avid journaler. She helps coaches, creatives, and online service providers build a solid business foundation with simple visibility, sales, and leadership strategies so they can get fully booked with their dream clients. With a background in education and an emphasis on mindset, Shi is on a mission to help women create their version of success so they can feel fulfilled in their lives, too.

In This Episode We Discuss:

  • The 3 big questions you need to be asking yourself when defining your messaging
  • Shi’s shares her recommendations for figuring out what makes you different and what makes you stand out
  • The importance of knowing who you help and who you serve
  • Valuable tips for getting unstuck in your messaging
  • The power of gaining confidence through your actions

Even after years in business, I learned so much from Shi’s perspective on business messaging.

Shi shares how simply taking small steps and continuing until you are consistent is key.

Remember, when it comes to your messaging, you're actually positioning yourself as the guide to help support your clients achieve their dream.

Are you just starting out in business or maybe even just thinking of starting a business?

If you said yes, this episode is just for you.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how much my business has changed over the years, how far I’ve come, and how much I’ve learned. I really believe that if you’re willing to commit and put in the work, you can build a sustainable business that works for you and the life you want to live.

I also believe that, unfortunately, a lot of the advice you’ll find online just doesn’t tell the whole story.

In this episode of Raising Loveliness, I am sharing the mistakes I’ve made, what I’ve learned along the way, and what I would do differently if I was just starting out.

In This Episode We Discuss:

  • Getting crystal clear on what you do and who you help
  • Testing out your ideas by learning what works and what you need to adjust so that the process works more smoothly moving forward.
  • Choosing a niche that you can commit to for the next year or two, not necessarily for the rest of your life.
  • Why starting out with only one main offering is to your benefit.
  • The main reason it’s important to build connections without selling.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in business is that you’re going to learn so much more by taking action. Additionally, I’ve really come to believe that the biggest difference between those who succeed in business and those who don’t, is that those who succeed stick with it.

Above all, remember to always give yourself grace and patience. Good things don’t happen overnight. They take time.

I’m hoping these ideas are giving you something to start with and know that in future episodes I can give you even more support in building a business that works for you and the life you want to live.

And if you’re listening and thinking you’d really love some extra support in building a sustainable business that makes a difference and helps you live the life you want to live, visit raisingloveliness.com/together to learn more about how my amazing team and I can support you.

Have you ever thought about the parent you want to be and told yourself that you just don’t measure up? Have you ever tried to fit into a mold that doesn’t feel right?

My guest today knows exactly how that feels and she has made it her mission to spread the word that you don’t have to fit a mold, and instead can lean into your own strengths and forge your own path.

Deborah Chalk is a Life Coach who helps parents be the kind of parent they want to be without running on empty. She’s a Certified Wayfinder Life Coach and an Endorsed Mind-body Magic Coach. Her work has featured on ‘The Huffington Post,’ ‘Mind Body Green,’ ‘Chopra,’ and ‘Life Hack.’

Listen in as we talk about real-life parenting advice and how to apply the same principles to your heart-centered business.

In This Episode We Discuss:

  • That a lot of what we learn in parenting is just what we experienced as kids and that may or may not work for who we want to be as parents.
  • How being in community with other like-minded parents really helped Deborah on her parenting journey and how she provides that for the parents she coaches.
  • The importance of naturally playing to your strengths as a mom.
  • Deborah’s recommendation for moms, especially moms of young children, to take time for themselves to recharge.
  • How important it is to model caring for ourselves to our children because they will see that you are valuing yourself and do the same.

No matter what stage you are at in your parenting journey, whether you are just starting out or a seasoned parent of multiple children, we can all glean something valuable from this conversation.

If you’re listening to this podcast, I know you care about your kids.

So I’m guessing there are moments, days, or periods of time when you’re feeling a little overwhelmed, a little out of your element, or you’re getting caught up with fears and concerns.

Sound familiar?

My hope with this episode is that no matter what’s going on in your life, something I share here today will be exactly what you need to hear to feel a little better, to find a little hope or encouragement, and to remember that you’re not alone in this incredible journey of motherhood.

I’m here to reassure you that you are doing your best in this moment. We all need to give ourselves a little grace.

Listen in as I share 5 things to remember whenever you’re feeling overwhelmed, burning out, or are doubting yourself as a mom…

Listen to to episode 2 to learn:

  • What to remember when you don’t know what to do
  • One essential step to take to be the best mom for your child(ren)
  • The one practice that helps me let go of perfectionism and enjoy the present moment
  • The one thing to remember when you find yourself comparing yourself or your child to anyone else
  • Why I believe you’re the best mother for your child(ren) and that you’re probably doing much better than you think

Parenting isn’t a one-size-fits-all situation. We have to learn what works for each child.

So when you need help, whether it’s help for you or help for your child, remember that it’s not all on you. If you or your child is struggling, take a look at what you need and be willing to seek out support.

I really believe that you’re not “failing” as a mom if you need extra help and that, in fact, being willing to seek extra support either for yourself or your child makes you a better mom because you’re trying to do the best to support your child/children.

And in the end - I think that’s what matters most. It really doesn’t matter what any other mom is doing or how any other child is doing in comparison to my children or our family. All that matters is that I’m doing my best to support and care for my kids and that they know they are loved.

So the next decision you have to make with your child/children, remember that you are the expert on your child. You’re making decisions with love and with the information you have right now. You’re doing better than you think you are and you’ve got this.
