Welcome to our new series on Kingdom. We are so excited that you are coming to learn more about Jesus, yourself and others. Our hope is that you grow in knowledge, maturity and faith.

This week’s episode we are talking about the Kingdom of Heaven and what it looks like to have it here on Earth.

Question 1

  • What is the Kingdom of Heaven to you?

Question 2

  • How have you seen Heaven?
  • What does it look like for the Kingdom of Heaven to move on Earth?
  • The Kingdom of Heaven changes and transforms the environment it enters into. ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13:33‬ ‭NIV‬‬

A small amount of Heaven will impact a large part of the Earth. The Kingdom of Heaven looks like the Presence of God manifesting on Earth. We are citizens of Heaven. We are of Heaven and therefore we carry the culture, characteristics and identity of Heaven. The best way to know what Heaven is like is to meet someone who came from there. Jesus is our point of reference and came to show the way of Heaven. We are in this world but not of this world. We have to act like Heaven in the world and not the way the world would act. If we want to know what Heaven is like we need to look at the life of Jesus. Every time people encounter Jesus they transform.

Bonus Questions

  • Do people see Heaven in us when they see us?
  • How are you encountering Jesus?
  • In what ways do you see transformation in yourself?
  • Love is always relevant. - Maya Noel-Barham
  • Jesus’s love always required change. We can’t interact with the Kingdom of Heaven and stay the same.
  • In what ways do you need to change?
  • What areas of your life need to encounter the Kingdom Heaven to see transformation?

Big Question Segment: How do I get into Heaven?

  • Do you know you're going to Heaven?

Growth Mindset and Grit Introduction

Romans 5:1-5

Pivoting

  • The easiest, yet the hardest way we can change our lives is by pivoting. To pivot we have to change the direction we are going in. This can be a drastic or minor change. It is finding opportunities where none existed before. New realities need new skills and habits that you haven't tapped into yet. It may mean that you have to let go of old habits to move in a new direction. Life is going to be full of challenges and adversity and we are going to get practical about how to build a growth mindset, get gritty, pivot and become resilient.

Change

  • If you want to change your life, change your feelings. If you want to change your feelings, change your thoughts. If you want to change your thoughts, change the way you talk to yourself.
  • Change your close circle because you become like the people you surround yourself with.
  • Change who you focus on [Jesus] not what you focus on [current situation].

Question 1

  1. What thoughts about yourself to you need to challenge?

Adapt

  • Reframe hard realities to find opportunities to learn and grow. It doesn't mean you have to diminish the impact of the hard reality you are going through, but by reframing it does give you the mindset to keep going.
  • View failure as a learning curve and not an ultimate ending.
  • Change how much you believe in yourself. Remind yourself of your strengths and how you have worked through hard realities before. o Spend time with Jesus and make Him the centre of it all.

Question 2

  1. What are you passionate about?
  2. What have you learnt about yourself in the last year?
  3. Tell your group about a time where things weren't going well but you kept going and saw yourself grow.

Overcome

  • Find yourself in community. United and unified. You don't have to carry a burden on your own.
  • You are not a victim, but you are a survivor and victorious. Jesus overcame the world.
  • Persevere because it builds you up. [Broken bone analogy]
  • Be optimistic about the future because Jesus has the best in mind for you.
  • Jeremiah 29:11‬‬

Question 3

  1. What hard realities can your group help you face?
  2. What do you think of when you hear that Jesus has the best in mind for you? Give an example.
