Your Own Path is an exciting series where former students tell their stories, showing us their offices, the work they do, their friends, and a little of what their routine is like. We hope these videos inspire our current students to follow their dreams and see the endless possibilities that await graduates from IE University.
We went to a number of countries including the Czech Republic, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, the USA, Spain, Holand, UK, France and Mexico to reconnect with old friends. However, our students know no limits when it comes to working in multinational environments, with many finding homes all over the globe. Keep an eye out for more videos, and, who knows, maybe you could end up working abroad with one of these exciting opportunities.
Originally from France, Timothé studied the Dual Degree in Business Administration & International Relations, followed by the Master in Big Data & Business Analytics. He’s now working as coordinator for the AWS/EMEA Alliance at Deloitte in Brussels, where he applies the tools he acquired at IE University to his role.
Timothé has ambitions to start his own company one day. As well as volunteering with a charity helping underprivileged children, he enjoys life in Brussels to the full, spending time with friends and taking part in sporting activities. Paula Joanna Tkaczyk is a graduate of the Master in Business for Architecture & Design program at IE University. She strongly believes in the importance of a healthy work-life balance, seeing it as essential to have time for the things you love while also working in a field that you’re passionate about.

Bachelor in International Relations alum Snorre Qveim-Leikanger is now working at Selmer, a global law firm in Oslo, Norway. We recently spoke to the former student to learn more about his work-life balance and how studying at IE University helped him get into a very competitive industry.

A Spanish citizen with Colombian origins, Laura has ambitions to change the world. After studying the Dual Degree in Business Administration and International Relations, she took up a role as content advisor at AmCham EU in Brussels and was swiftly promoted to a senior position. Originally from Switzerland, Jade currently works as a supply chain and operations specialist at Toyota in Brussels, where she enjoys the interactive, constantly changing nature of the role. Crisis management is one topic which especially interests her—and she’s fast developing expertise in this area. Outside work, she relaxes by playing volleyball and riding horses.

Ana, a self-described “people person,” studied the Bachelor in International Relations. Originally from Spain, she now works as a sales specialist for Banking and Finance in Zürich, where networking and building client relationships are her favorite aspects of the role. The international nature of IE University, which enabled Ana to connect with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, was an ideal preparation for her current job.

After completing her law degree, Anna realized that pursuing a career in legal practice wasn’t her only option. Instead, she decided to follow her passion for the arts and gained as much experience as she could in the cultural sector. Now, Anna combines all the knowledge and skills she gained from the program with her love for creativity and communications in her role as Content Strategist at Gladia, turning ideas into real-life projects. After work, she enjoys sports and biking outdoors or attending different cultural events in the center of Paris.
Lucía, a graduate in Psychology from IE University, chose to embark on her professional career in the field of Human Resources. Currently, she has over two years of experience as a Talent Consultant at the renowned company Accenture in Madrid. Beyond her professional life, Lucía also enjoys outdoor sports with friends after work. Her educational journey at IE University, known for its practical approach and diverse international student body, played a pivotal role in shaping her career path and worldview.
Olivier recognized the value of the opportunities available at IE University early on. He immersed himself fully into the university’s diverse community, finding long-term friends and lasting connections within its vibrant, multicultural student body. He also developed confidence in public speaking, a skill that is essential for his current work. Olivier is now a senior internal auditor at Nestlé, which involves minimizing risks and providing risk assurance across different areas of the business. In his free time, he enjoys running or longboarding through the streets of Paris and practicing melodic riffs on his guitar.
Álvaro has been a qualified lawyer in Spain—where he practices technology law, intellectual property law and data protection law at international law firm Bird & Bird—for almost six years. His day-to-day work as a data protection associate sees Álvaro assisting some of the biggest tech firms in the industry while also hosting data protection seminars at IE University. Reflecting on how the institution’s hands-on approach to learning gave him an edge in the real world, Álvaro notes that being given case scenarios to resolve as part of a group helped him to overcome his shyness and prepare for his current role. Matteo shares his experience of working in the Madrid office of global credit rating agency DBRS Morningstar. As a credit rating analyst, he creates financial models using various pieces of data in order to assist the lead financial analyst with producing reports. He believes that IE University’s focus on preparing for real-world experiences, as well as its professors’ keen interest in student development, set him up for success in his chosen career. A credit ratings analyst at international credit rating agency S&P, Laura is tasked with providing future-focused opinions on the likelihood of default of organizations on their debt. She does this by using various financial tools to analyze the macroeconomic environment, the entity’s competitive strengths and its financial position. For Laura, success means putting a lot of effort into getting really good at something you’re passionate about. When Sofia graduated from IE University, she was eager to find a line of work that brought together the worlds of international relations and tech. However, it was challenging to find a position that would speak to both of these interests. Sofia now works at London-based tech company PUBLIC as part of the startup and government challenges team. Her role revolves around bringing open innovation to governments, connecting startups that have developed innovative solutions that can benefit the public sector with local and national authorities. With work-life balance a top priority, a typical day in the office for the Amazon employee kicks off early and is followed by time spent exercising, socializing with colleagues, reading a good book, playing video games or watching a movie. He explains that his time at IE University ensured that he was prepared for his role, especially as the university’s approach changed his preconceptions about how problems should be solved, opening him up to more dynamic ways of thinking. Orhan is an analyst for BNP Paribas Real Estate’s International Investment Group in London. In this podcast, he explains the importance of connecting the right people who have the necessary capital to the right project in the most fluid way possible. His advice to anyone who is or is thinking about attending university is to ensure that you take time to explore the things you enjoy in the world and gain practical experience. Stefan’s life has been international since he was born—he has lived in Germany, the US, Russia, Spain, China and Brazil. Now, he’s living in London and working as a climate risk and sustainable finance manager at EY. At the same time, he’s also studying for a PhD in climate science and finance with a project on the systemic risks climate change poses to finance, demonstrating his passion for sustainability. However, when Stefan started his Bachelor in Business Administration, he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. The freedom the program gave him to explore different areas helped him find his direction, and though he says his job is very different to what he studied, he uses the transferable skills he learned every day.
A graduate of the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), Bart Friese is a Senior Consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He says that studying at IE University taught him to face challenges head-on and step outside of his comfort zone.
It also made him discover what he wanted to do, inspired by professors who also worked as lawyers at the same time. Since graduating, he’s made the move to Amsterdam. He talks us through his role and the skills he gained at IE University that he now uses every day, as he guides buyers and sellers through large transactions as part of a deals team.

Paulina Samovica is an alum of our Dual Degree in Laws + International Relations. When she graduated, Paulina was looking for a legal role in the tech field.
Her role at Corsearch perfectly fit her criteria, as it provides her with the opportunity to work with intellectual property under brand protection. Now living just outside Amsterdam, Paulina has to manage a busy weekly schedule to hit her clients’ goals. She balances a range of responsibilities across marketplaces, social media, domains and websites with direct interactions with her clients, but still makes time for herself outside of work.

Gestiona distintos mercados, redes sociales, dominios y páginas webs, pero aun así, procura sacar siempre tiempo para sí misma.
An alum of the Bachelor of International Relations, Antoine works in cybersecurity for the French consulting firm, Wavestone, where he helps clients build cybersecurity strategies to protect their data. Always looking for new ways to learn, he found that IE University provided him the perfect environment to do so. Whether working on a project or fine-tuning the necessary techniques to foster a strategic and innovative mindset, Antoine has shown how IE University can help you grow into the professional you aspire to be. Antoine was drawn to international relations by the skills the program imparts in understanding the world around us. Now in Paris, Antoine looks back fondly at his time at IE University and is grateful for all the experiences he enjoyed.
Celia García Virosta graduated from the Bachelor of Business Administration at IE University. She currently lives in London and has been working at Fiduciam since 2019. As an IT Project Manager, Celia works closely with both the technology and business departments within the company. Celia credits IE University for expanding her horizons, opening her mind to different cultures and helping her discover that she could fit in outside of Spain. Another valuable takeaway for Celia is that the faculty were active professionals that she could admire. Her professors introduced her to the exact approaches, mindsets and practices that were needed to gain access to the types of companies she aspired to work for.
Tamara Abusara studied the Bachelor in Business Administration at IE University before working at Mondelez and creating her own company, Baby Pakka. Tamara chose IE University because she felt its open-minded, driven atmosphere represented her perfectly. She first joined Mondelez as an intern after graduating, gaining hands-on experience and being empowered to contribute by her manager, and she then was sent to work in their London office before eventually moving back to Madrid. When the pandemic struck, Tamara took advantage of the extra time she had and founded a sustainable start-up. She emphasizes the importance of focusing on yourself, prioritizing your own goals and needs to ensure that you aren’t caught up in what others want for you.
Originally from Libya, Ahmed Ashraf studied the Bachelor in Business Administration at IE University and now works as program lead in the digital banking department at Santander. His goal at IE University was to learn about people from different cultures and backgrounds, as well as to gain a thorough understanding of business. He was also eager to avail of the networking opportunities with professors and alumni. Ahmed defines success as managing all the important aspects of one’s life. For him, these include family, work and health. He dedicates time each day to catching up with his family, exercising and playing one of his several guitars. He also enjoys reading and spending time with his wife after a busy day at work.
Iñigo Cavestany, from Madrid, studied the Bachelor in Business Administration and now works at IBM. Iñigo believes that the most powerful thing about IE University is that we are doers, we are makers, and we love to test and experiment with everything we do. He is a digital advocate at IBM, and his mission is to embrace open ecosystems that improve the world as we know it. Since he graduated from IE University, he’s been collaborating with start-ups across all types of IE University programs by helping them with IBM technologies. For Iñigo, there’s no standard day. His biggest challenge personally is to manage himself and find the right equilibrium. The ultimate purpose in life is simply to be happy.
Alejandro is originally from Spain and was educated at international schools before completing the Bachelor in Business Administration at IE Business School. He always wanted to be in a dynamic and international environment—particularly within a tech company. At IE University, he found the diverse atmosphere he was looking for, learning to develop through his projects and present his ideas successfully. As a student, he learned to transform his ideas into reality by thinking through the processes himself based on the ideas learned in class. He currently works as a manager at Didi’s National Fleet, mainly in the vehicle solutions department. There, he finds new business opportunities to add value to the company, as well as working to improve user experience on the operational side.
Originally from Madrid, Alejandro Sáez studied the Dual Degree in Business Administration and Laws at IE University before becoming CEO of eGoGames, Europe's leading eSports platform. He was attracted by the ethos at IE University toward developing yourself to become the best you can be, which coincides with his own attitude as an entrepreneur. He underlines the importance of gaining solid people and teamwork skills, particularly as the founder of a start-up. Now, he is focused on developing his company in the long term so that it can change alongside the market and last for many years to come. In his free time, Alejandro enjoys boxing and staying fit, as well as spending time with friends.
In this episode, we are joined by Benjamin Ranft, Philipp Nette and Teiko Wilenius, three entrepreneurs who created Cutnut, a software company taking the world by storm. The three former IE University students appeared in 2019’s Forbes 30 under 30 list for European media and marketing, and their company is continuing to grow. For Jasmina Orlicka, every day is different. Originally from the Czech Republic, Jasmina currently works at Havas in Prague, a creative agency that manages social media for large companies. Originally from Peru, Mickela Vucetich now works as a financial affairs advisor at the United Nations in New York. However, her career path was not a straight line and she previously wanted to be a diplomat. Tess de Gregorio’s career started on a completely different path from where she is now.
