WHAT WE CHATTED ABOUT
Traditional media may tell us that Lake Mead has dried up and now all we see are boat wrecks and dead bodies. We know that is not true and we’ll hear it from the mouth of a concessionaire that is happy to share with all his guests and our listeners about all the great activity happening on Lake Mead and the Colorado River.
Chad shares some of his best practices in the realm of marketing and how streamlining those skills have provided him and his team the ability to use technology to improve their bottom line.
Chad also makes a big announcement on the show --- With the approval of the National Park Service the night before, he is able to share an excellent way to educate us all on the activities of Lake Mead at this time.
We will get a little personal and hear about the special relationship between Chad and his father, Rod Taylor. Doing business on the water just seems to run in their blood.
Chad is also the definition of the “entrepreneur”, and he gives a little insight into a couple of his other companies; namely Mentor Empire and ETA. Listen and learn more about his amazing new recording studio. Check out the images here.
“Conversation is at the core of creativity,” says Chad and he will remind us of the importance of human connection. He is loving the opportunity to share others’ stories and to help us remember to listen and learn. One of his favorite quotes is, “That which I do not know, could change everything.”

Today on the Best Dam Podcast we have the honor of speaking with Ashley Pipkin.
Ashley is a Biologist for the National Park Service, Natural Sounds and Night Skies Division, and the Basin and Range Dark Sky Cooperative.
Ashley is passionate about protecting natural night skies and caring for our nation’s amazing natural resources. She is a federal employee, and her job is to help the American public. Right now she is assisting the City of Boulder City with implementing smart lighting practices that will benefit night sky quality and community wellbeing.
Ashley is inspired to see positive change by working with communities, parks, and partners and making sure they have all the information they need to make the best choices. In today’s rushed world there are so many options and so little time to understand all of them but providing folks with the information they need to make the best choices is really inspiring to her.

Hello, and welcome to The Best Dam Podcast. This is your host Jill Lagan, CEO of the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce. We are coming to you from i&i Music and Podcast Studios in beautiful Boulder City.
In each episode, we will highlight what makes Boulder City, Home of the Hoover Dam, the ideal place to operate your successful small business, explore world-class tourism attractions, and discover why we are the perfect place to live and unwind.
Interview
On today's show, we have the pleasure of speaking with Don Rodriquez, entrepreneur and founder of i&I Music and Podcast Studios. Don is also the owner of Superior Builders, Inc and has had a few other small businesses start up and sold here in Boulder City. We lovingly call him a "serial entrepreneur".
Don has used his talents and skills to build up quite a few businesses over the years and he will share a little bit about those. However, his real love and passion (besides his wife and kids) is making music. Learn how evolved from playing in his home to building out a very professional music stage. It is Don's goal to invite more musicians to come and check out a great place to "jam" and record.
AHA Moment
Don's construction company was challenged with building out a "soundproof" room, and that engineering marvel led to building out the soundproof booth at i&i.
Key Questions that Don Answers
1. Will Don and his son have a podcast coming soon?
2. If so, what will be the format?
3. What blows Don away? Don and Lori's passion project of an "adulting class".
Stories Shared by Don
1. Don's mentor Howard Stern-well maybe not exactly.
2. The stories of how bands get started and what makes them relatable.
3. Don's scariest moment as he and Lori rebuilt their business and lives after the great recession, "Stay In 'til 10!"
