We're back after a week off and boy is there a lot of football to get through! Join a full Plus Dave house as we cast our minds back to the ups and down of Spurs life, including matches with AZ Alkmaar, Crystal Palace, Man City and Aston Villa before turning our attention to upcoming clashes with Galatasaray, Ipswich and even Man Utd in the the cup!
We bring you the usual blend of disorganisation, shocking banter and tactical analysis this week - with an extra touch of rust. We hope you enjoy our attempts to remember all the chaos and make heads or tails of this wild ride we call supporting Tottenham.

Tottenham's 45 minute crisis is over! A full contingent of Plus Davers bring you their thoughts on a perfect weekend for Spurs fans - with Spurs seeing to it that West Ham join Arsenal and Chelsea in tasting defeat.
We talk about a brave and inspired half time change from Ange as well as the growing star of Kulusevski. There's the usual preview of upcoming games including Troy Parrott's AZ and Dr. Tottenham's upcoming trip to Selhurst Park.

A painful reminder this week, to all who needed it, that we do still support Spurs - and Spurs, from time to time, do still do very Spursy things.
We hope you find this podcast slightly less painful, although make no guarantees, as an absent Elio leaves a 3-man team of Dags, Socs and Dave to cry/troll their respective ways through a breakdown of Tottenham's latest box office capitulation.
There's also some chat about a few exciting outings from youngsters in the Europa League and various bizarre bits and pieces.

What a win, what a performance, what a result. Spurs set all kinds of records as they dispose of a woeful Manchester United side in their own back yard - the only disappointment perhaps was only scoring 3 and not 8!
A full team is on hand this week, all equally happy at the destruction of Man Utd, to break down all the exciting incident in an action packed episode.
There is a predictable, extensive love session for star man, Dejan Kulusevski, thriving in his more central role, as well as tactical analysis, a look back to our last European outing (and another 3-0 win) as well as a look forward to Thursday's next Europa match and Brighton at the weekend.

Spurs are back to something close to their brilliant Angeball best, as the home side came back from a shock early goal to sail to a convincing 3-1 win, in one of our most encouraging performances in recent times.
Dags, Elio and Socs form a Daveless Plus Dave squad this week to look back gleefully on all the highlights, before turning their attention to games coming thick and fast in the form of our Europa League opener vs Qarabag and a trip to Old Trafford at the weekend.

A streamlined Plus Dave Team brings you this week's episode - as the undisputed star attraction of the regular team (being of course the host, Dags) takes the week off, just in time to avoid having to feign positivity about yet another home defeat to Arsenal.
This leaves Elio, once again, taking over the hosting microphone and doing an excellent job as he is joined by Socs and Dave. It is perhaps fitting therefore that so much of the conversation centres around the notion of regulars potentially being replaced by their talented understudies waiting in the wings at Spurs.
Wings themselves continue to be a problem with Spurs once again failing to provide those cutting edges and another set piece goal was eventually our undoing.
With previews of Coventry (which has since ended in an extremely comfortable, never-in-doubt 2-1 triumph) and Brentford to follow what is a great summary of the game, the status quo at Spurs and everything in between, we hope you enjoy this slightly punchier episode.

It's quiz time as the PDP turns 3! Join us in a feature length birthday special, where on top of previewing Sundays big game, Dave and Dags put the two cousins to the test in a North London Derby themed, 4-round bumper quiz extravaganza.
It's Elio vs Socs for the ultimate glory - we have piles of questions, including many from some of you listeners, we have the spinning wheel of mayhem and last minute drama in a quiz that honours the Plus Dave tradition of being overly long, complex and poorly prepared/executed.
Who will come out on top? Listen along to see how you would have done - to skip right to the quiz, go to 25:30.

Oh Tottenham - why are you so confusing, yet mesmerising? Join a baffled trio of Plus Davers are we struggle to understand how Spurs managed to dominate yet another match without getting anything to show for it.
St. James' Park holds its form as a Spurs bogey ground as Newcastle took all three points. In this show we look at what Spurs did well and the crucial missing pieces.
We also have a look at the Europa League draw in it's brand new format and look ahead to that competition.

Spurs have their first win of the season and Dags, Socs and Dave are here to bask in its glory, while Elio - birthday-buddy of big Ange Postecoglou - gets the week off to celebrate turning 30 something...
Hear our thoughts on 4 lovely goals and a dominant 4-0 victory to open our home account with a bang, including our analysis of THAT assist by Micky, Spurs hopefully figuring out set pieces, intense Angeball pressing and some completely unnecessary and extensive semantics around the exact criteria of a thunderbastard.
We also bring you our usual preview of Spurs' upcoming opponents - this time a Newcastle side that both battered and were battered by Spurs last season.
And finally we have our weekly trivia teaser brought to you by our official affiliate partner, Pundit. See if you can outsmart Socs and Dave!

The season is back! Spurs are back and we are back - join the regular 4 as we scrape the bottom of the barrel trying to take positives away from what can only be described as 2 dropped points, away to newly-promoted Leicester City.
We pick apart a glorious opening 60 minutes, followed by a distinctly less glorious 30 or so.
There's also our our usual look ahead to our next fixture - this time as our home campaign gets underway against Everton, and discuss how Spurs should look to line up there.
We also discuss our latest young signing, Wilson Odobert, from Burnley and what he might offer - as well as bringing all the usual Plus Dave brand of eclectic nonsense including some artificially enhanced Socratic philosophy - of sorts.
This week's show even includes a Spurs trivia teaser - brought to you by our official sponsor, Pundit Games.
We hope you've shaken off the pain of Monday just in time to hear our thoughts!

The season is nearly upon us - time to get excited, Spurs fans! To mark the occasion we had the great pleasure, once again, to be joined by tactics guru, Jon Mackenzie from The Athletic and Tifo Football.
In this episode, Jon walks us through his assessment of year one under Ange Postecoglou and the challenges that stand before him as he heads into season two.
There's pre-season analysis, a wider look at the application of Ange's system last season and the dilemmas it has presented - as well as some suggestions on how these could be fixed with different players or tactical tweaks.
We also bring you in-depth discussions about some of our exciting new purchases like Archie Gray and record signing, Dominic Solanke and what they could bring - and of course a foray into the historical tactical lineage of Postecoglou's football philosophy (because why not?)
Finally, we bring you our predictions, not just for how we will line up against Leicester and beyond, but how the season will play out as a whole (including a few hot takes for good measure).
One for the football nerds like us, but mostly just for everyone - we hope you enjoy!

The Plus Dave Podcast returns! Join the usual team of Dags, Elio, Socs and Dave as they shake off the Summer rust and catch up for the first pre-season pod, to discuss a couple of new signings - including one that Dave knows very well - a couple of pre-season outings that have included some promising showings from academy stars, and a look ahead to the fast-approaching season.
Explicit language warning: just to let listeners know, we have taken the executive decision to stop censoring the swear words from here on (let's be honest, we barely did before anyway!)
Finally - the PDP is delighted to announce that, for this season, the show is brought to you by our brand new affiliate partner, Pundit - the football trivia board game. Dags tells you more in the episode but please visit https://punditgames.co.uk and use the code PLUSDAVE at checkout for an exclusive 20% discount.
We hope you enjoy this one - it's great to be back!
Gimme gimme gimme a Spurs fan from Sweden!
On the first of our Spurs Summer specials, we were delighted to be joined by the brilliant Simon Yemane (@SimonYemane) - one of the shining lights in the dark web of Spurs Twitter and a shining example of Spurs' legions of committed fans based overseas.
Joining us from Sweden, Simon gives us his unique perspective on becoming a Spurs fan from afar, supporting the team from another country and how the lens of Twitter can skew all of our perceptions and make us reconsider our perspectives.
Charming, insightful and sincere from start to finish - we thoroughly enjoyed Simon's company and hope you will too.
If you don't already, please give him a follow on Twitter at @SimonYemane and be sure to look out for some further upcoming exciting Plus Dave specials as the Summer progresses.
Please join us for one more scheduled episode where we do our best to pack a whole load of chat into one feature length episode to wrap up the season.
The full team is here to look back on the last two games - that bizarre match with Man City and all the surrounding subplot, the comfortable final day in Sheffield and of course our look over the season as a whole.
We pick our player, goal, match, disappointment and thunderbastards of the season (and more) in our Official Plus Dave Awards (The Daveys).
We also take a quick look back at some of our pre-season predictions and how they played out - you won't want to miss that!
Let us know your final thoughts on the season and any questions for the Summer specials (message us @PlusDavePodcast on Twitter or email plusdavepodcast@gmail.com)
Stay tuned for some Summer content but for now - a well-earned break for us all. Best of luck to whoever you support in the Euros (but it's coming home) and we can't wait to have you all back soon. Stay classy - love the Plus Dave team.
Spurs finally win! A long-awaited stumble to the finish line sees Spurs all but secure themselves a spot in 5th and an automatic Europa League placing.
With Dave off watching Leeds in the playoffs, us Spurs fans take a look back on a well-needed victory with a couple of goals from unlikely sources, before turning our attention to our 'title decider' with Man City and discuss the ethical dilemma it presents.
Should we actually want Spurs to lose? There's a Pyliotis family feud as the two cousins give their opposing views on this contentious subject and we look forward to the rest of the season's scheduled matches, before what will be our season finale after the Sheffield Utd match.
It's more pain for Spurs as two defeats leave us clinging on to that 5th spot.
Elio rejoins the team to look at both the Chelsea and Liverpool losses and help work out what we can take from both performances and we take this opportunity to look at the larger picture and what these poor performances tell us about what needs to change for next season - as well as what positives we can pull from the wreckage.
There's also the usual preview of upcoming games and the expected amount of foul language!
Yes, it's the Arsenal one. Sadly, despite a wild 5-goal extravaganza, Spurs could not overcome their own shortcomings as a painful defeat to the enemy leaves us analysing our various issues.
Dags, Socs and Dave are on hand to sift through the wreckage and look back on all 5 goals as well as countless incidents, controversies and a couple of good performances shining through the darkness.
We also have a brief preview of upcoming games and the usual bits and pieces on the side. Hope you enjoy this slightly more than you enjoyed the match itself!
(Part 2 of 2)
Is Gareth back for a second half of our nostalgic 90s adventure? He is you know...
Picking up right where we left off with the dawn of the Gerry Francis era and running all the way through to ending on a high with that second trophy of the decade, we hope you enjoy this second instalment of Spurs in the 90s with special guest, author of Is Gascoigne Going to Have a Crack - a new Spurs book available to buy now.
To order the book for yourself, for UK listeners, please order from Gareth's site at:

(Part 1 of 2)
We travel back in time this week as we are delighted to be joined by Gareth Dace, author of the brand new Spurs book, 'Is Gascoigne Going to Have a Crack?' a tale of the 'Magic, Mayhem and Mediocrity' that was Spurs in the 1990s.
In this two-part special, we take a trip down memory lane (as far as our young-ish memories will allow for some of us) and get stuck into a decade that holds a special place in the hearts of many fans.
Despite Spurs generally failing to dazzle in the league, the decade was bookended by a couple of trophy wins - a rare and sought-after commodity in the eyes of the modern Spurs fan - including our last FA Cup triumph, thanks in no small part to the efforts of the titular Gascoigne and his Wembley free kick that spawned the iconic commentary itself.
We talk cup runs, the dawn of the Premier League, financial irregularities, protests, multiple sacked managers, world class foreign imports, glory and heartbreak... and that's only the first half!
Gareth is kind enough to walk us through, season by season, in fascinating detail, leaving no stone unturned, and whether it's a dose of nostalgia, a history lesson or a bit of both, we hope you enjoy taking it all in as much as we did.
To order the book for yourself, for UK listeners, please order from Gareth's site at:
https://90sspursbook.square.site.
For all you outside of the UK, you can order from Amazon at:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gascoigne-going-have-crack-mediocrity/dp/1801507023
Part 2 will be up and available shortly taking you through the second half of the 90s, we hope you enjoy!
Enough time has passed that we can look back over the Newcastle thumping without crying and look at it with a level head. Join a full team as we force ourselves to consider the big picture but also what weaknesses this performance illuminates with the future in mind.
That future hopefully ends with Spurs finding a real rhythm under Ange but starts with the nail-biting prospect of welcoming recent Champions League departees, Arsenal to our ground in a hope to slash their title hopes and keep our top 4 chase alive (coefficients be damned).
Spurs go marching into fourth with a convincing victory over struggling Nottingham Forest and the full Plus Dave team is here this week to look back over it, taking great pleasure in discussing a number of great goals and moves and a win that puts us firmly in the driving seat for our Champions League destiny.
We also have the usual look ahead to our next fixture - away at Newcastle as well as some more general discussions around the shape of the club and team.
We hope you enjoy!
If you like the show, why not follow us on Twitter @PlusDavePodcast or email us at plusdavepodcast@gmail.com
Dags' article mentioned in this episode can be found here: https://www.vavel.com/en/football/2024/04/05/tottenham-hotspur/1178656-how-do-tottenham-become-title-contenders.html
Two games to look back on this week as the Easter schedule fills up. 4 points from 6 for Spurs as a win against Luton and a draw with West Ham see us in pole position for 4th place heading into the last couple of months of the season.
Dags, Dave and Elio take a good look at both games, analysing a few performers who have been on the receiving end of criticism lately as well as the bigger tactical picture - does Ange have a 'Plan B'? Are we improving?
There's also a look ahead to Forest, some chat about the financial results and the usual other Spursy business.
One whole solid hour of us talking almost exclusively about how much we hate Arsenal Football club.
Why? Because there was no game, the England match was boring and because we can. Clearly the dirty Woolwich scum live rent free in our heads after all!
If you hate Arsenal too, please give us a listen and we hope you enjoy this unrelenting hate-fest.
Dags, Socs and Dave bring you this week's episode as Elio is spared the chore of unpicking a horrible 3-0 defeat to Fulham fresh off the back of such an encouraging win at Villa Park.
We try our best to ascertain exactly how Spurs managed to play it quite so Spursily and what this means for the short term and for the bigger picture - with a slight glance forward to next season and Phase 2 of the Big Ange project.
There's all the usual unplanned pitstops and deviations along the way as we continue to find new and innovative ways to distract ourselves from the pain of describing a Spurs defeat.
The good times are back! Dave calls in sick, presumably in an attempt to avoid our insufferable delight as Spurs roll back the months to happier times with our most dominant and important win for some time - perhaps not coincidentally achieved by a lineup resembling that of the pre-Chelsea meltdown era.
Dags, Elio and Socs take great joy in dissecting each goal and all the major players, taking time to praise nearly every player on the pitch and their collection of wonderful contributions (including John McGinn's), as we never know quite how long this feeling will last.
There's also a fairly appalling preview of the Fulham game in the absence of our regular opposition scout - typical Big 6 fans stuck in our own bubble.
Speaking of appalling - we also get stuck in to the latest developments brought about by ENIC that will see season ticket prices rise and senior concessions impacted and exactly what we think of all that.
A lot to get out teeth into this week and we attack it with all the zest of a rattled Scotsman scything down a runaway young left back. We hope you enjoy listening along.
Just like Spurs' winning goals at the weekend, this week's PDP comes slightly later than ideally scheduled but we do our best to review another strong second half showing to see off a particularly unthreatening Palace side and complete a double over them this season.
Dags, Elio, Socs and Dave break down a good win and one that leaves us chasing the tails of our next opponents, Aston Villa - in the developing battle for that all-important 4th (or is it 5th?) spot for the CL places - before we look ahead to that enticing Super Sunday fixture.
There's also a brand new, possibly semi-permanent and certainly extra obnoxious feature introduced early on that I'm sure you will all hate or love - we're still not sure. Enjoy!
It's quiz time!
Without a match or much particularly interesting Spurs chat to get through, we decided not to leave you empty handed this week (because we love you, listeners) and instead bring you a quiz all about Spurs' season so far.
Elio, Socs and Dave fight it out to be named quiz champion in a fast paced, chaotic, poorly officiated, horribly planned and disgustingly corrupt trivia extravaganza.
The only thing worse than the quality of the quiz itself is the quality of the actual audio - this week coming to you in a virtually unedited, raw and compressed format (due to technical difficulties) which we think actually adds to the charm of this dumpster fire of a podcast.
Controversy, comeback and comical buzzers - this quiz has it all, except for a competent quiz master. Try and play along at home and see if you would have beaten the winner's score!
Wolves have done it to us again - after another false dawn both in terms of form and fitness, Spurs find themselves on the receiving end of a second 2-1 defeat at the hands of Wolves this season, once again with key players missing and others still on the mend.
Dags, Elio, Socs and Dave sift through the rubble after a disappointing loss that leaves us just outside of the top 4 with a resurgent Man United breathing down our necks.
There are selection headaches ahead of upcoming games, discussions focussing on specific offenders within the team and some chat about how to fix our problems in the short-term through some tactical tweaks and in the long-term through some targeted transfers.
We hope you find some joy among our misery - and just to make Socs' week, please email us (with whatever you like) at plusdavepodcast@gmail.com. Follow our Twitter while you're there @PlusDavePodcast and, above all, stay classy.
Just like Big Ange, the PDP has a full roster of stars to pick from once again for the first time in what feels like forever. Elio returns from Africa (along with Sarr and Bissouma) and joins Dags, Dave and Socs for a look back over yet another dramatic last minute Spurs winner, this time against Brighton!
This episode analyses the win, some of the key players, including those from the bench and the substitutions as a whole, shining a spotlight on a few specific individuals for various reasons.
There's also a brief preview of Wolves and some completely unnecessary tangents, including a quickly whittled-together Spurs African XI for your enjoyment.
Two matches to look back on this week, containing 9 goals, 4 points for Spurs, last minute disappointment, 7 minutes in heaven and a trio of Richarlison goals.
Much like Spurs themselves we soldier on without our talisman with Elio joining Sarr and Bissouma on the list of Africa-bound absentees. Man-behind-the-scenes and amateur statistician, Petros makes a follow up cameo very much in the scenes, alongside Dags, Socs and Dave.
There's also a preview of Brighton, a transfer round up including an exciting young signing and some tasty Summer rumours.
There is, of course, all the usual nonsense and wild tangents that regular listeners have come to expect. Hope you all enjoy!
Aussie's dream is over!
Spurs are down to just one competition left to play for and will sadly have to settle for winning 'the single'.
In a slightly patched up PDP team, in the absence of Elio and Dave, Dags is joined by Socs and the team's long serving producer/sound guy/tech support and occasional editor, Petros - guest on a few episodes of days gone by, who has come armed with his thoughts on Man City, a lot of stats and even some nice words for the pod.
The team weighs in on a disappoint but probably deserved cup exit and looks ahead to the final few days of the January window as well as a clash with Brentford who sadly look to be signing Antonio Nusa despite our lovely discussion of him as a prospect for us!
Join us for our best attempt at a positive podcast despite the early cup exit!
Join us for a Plus Dave first in celebration of a century of podcasts - this is our first (and maybe last) ever live streamed podcast, special shoutout to those of you who made it to YouTube to watch live, for the rest of you, we hope you enjoy it here.
On this 100th episode special we look back on our 2-2 draw at Old Trafford, including a few noteworthy performance and debuts. We also look ahead to the Man City cup clash that follows and, once again, take a look at the rest of our season and the league in which none other than Ange Postecoglou sees us as 'title contenders'... exciting stuff!
Hope the finished product is acceptable and hope you all enjoy!
Welcome back for a long-awaited return of the Plus Dave Podcast as Dags, Elio and Dave convene to discuss a win in the league followed by a win in the cup, but not before we listen live to the FA Cup draw to see who Spurs and Leeds both draw for the 4th round.
This week you will hear our thoughts on wins over Bournemouth and Burnley, a preview of imminent clashes with both Manchester clubs and some thoughts and feelings on an uncharacteristically busy January in the transfer window, with Timo Werner already confirmed.
There's also a short tribute to Eric Dier as he appears to be on his way out of Tottenham and there are more than the average tally of Elio rants/nibbles/meltdowns that the die-hard PDP fans have grown accustomed to.
Hope you enjoy!
Season's greetings to you all and thanks for patiently awaiting the festive return of the PDP. Santa delivered 3 points to Spurs in one of his more generous gifts of the year but it would have taken a Christmas miracle to bring us back from a 4-0 deficit against Brighton in the following fixture.
We analyse both games and take a look at our ever-evolving crisis and the prospect of a challenging January with many players missing and look at how we could shape up by combining the ruins of our current squad with any likely new acquisitions in the mid-season window.
Also on this week's show, a tribute to our departing club legend, former captain and era-defining goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris who prepares to swap N17 for Los Angeles.
As if the episode title wasn't warning enough, as always, listener discretion is advised.
Spurs string together back-to-back wins for the first since October and all is well again with the world - almost. A full Plus Dave team brings you its analysis this week, looking at the slightly less convincing acquisition of 3 points this time around at the cost of yet more suspensions.
We look over the 2-0 win at Forest with a spotlight on Dejan Kulusevski and another on Yves Bissouma - for different reasons. There's also a look ahead to upcoming fixtures with the seemingly unbreachable Everton visiting next weekend before a trip down to Brighton.
There are more than the usual number of random tangents regular listeners have become accustomed to this week and Elio's voice battles bravely against a sore throat, managing, incredibly, to talk just as much as he usually does despite sounding like the lovechild of Sean Dyche and Marge Simpson.
We are so back! Tottenham come away with an impressive win and an even more impressive performance against highly-fancied Newcastle (albeit a tired and depleted version) to end our run of 5 games without a win.
With no Elio this week, a returning Dags is joined by Socs and Dave to discuss, arguably, our best outing of the season so far (as well as a slightly less exciting match against West Ham a few days earlier).
It's one of those games where we cant help but go through player by player and give them their due adoration so be prepared for that. There's also a lengthy discussion about the Cuti dilemma, a look ahead to the rest of our busy December schedule and a strange amount of Harry Maguire chat.
With Dags off sunning himself in Barbados, Elio takes over as host for the post-match analysis of Spurs' death-defying draw at the Etihad against last year's treble winners, Manchester City. As well as taking a few moments to look at the controversial refereeing decision at the end, and just how little Socs actually cares after a long history of Pedro Mendes and Lasagne-Gates in his Spurs watching career. We also look forward to West Ham's Cup Final against us next week and the looming threat of the dangerous resurgent Newcastle United.
Spurs lose again but at least this time we lose with style. Join an unusually chirpy 3-man team, given the circumstances, this week as we discuss what is our third defeat in a row and quite possibly the third of four with Man City looming.
Elio takes a week off but was still kind enough to send in a few clips of his thoughts on Sunday's loss, while Dags, Socs and Dave discuss a match that many feel could and perhaps should have been a home win, showing plenty of positive signs - not least, a particularly attacking and exciting lineup.
Also this week we give a short tribute to Spurs hero, Terry Venables who sadly passed hours before the Villa game and of course we have a brief preview of the next match with Man City on Sunday.
This week the Plus Dave welcomes an extra special guest - a familiar voice to some of you no doubt, and one of the founding fathers of Spurs podcasting - host of the excellent The Extra Inch Spurs podcast and huge inspiration for the PDP - Chris 'Windy' Miller.
Windy joins Dags, Elio, Socs and Dave in a fully loaded team tasked with keeping you all entertained this international break. In this special episode, we take a chance to look back over life under Ange so far, how the reality has strayed from the expectation, what the long term future might hold for this exciting squad and what the near-term future might bring in the midst of our mini crisis.
We talk tactics, squad depth, signings and the long game in this mid-season debrief. We hope you enjoy and, if you haven't already, please do check out The Extra Inch on whatever platform you use and follow the team @TheExtraInch and Windy himself @WindyCOYS.
Plus Dave returns for a snappy one this week as Elio spends a week on the sidelines - there's only so much we can fill in for his monologues after all!
Join Dags, Socs and Dave as we look back on a tough late defeat to Wolves making it back-to-back losses to bring the Postecoglou honeymoon to a firm end. We discuss the evident impact of our injury/suspension crisis and how that might affect us across a difficult lineup of matches to lead us into Christmas.
We also take a quick look ahead to the Villa game after the break and see how we might approach that one and the challenges they may pose.
Our dream start has hit a major bump in the road. After flying out the blocks against Chelsea, the match fell apart in bizarre and spectacular fashion in an eventual 4-1 home defeat to our old boss that leaves us missing 4 key players for varying lengths of time through suspension and injury.
Through all this though, there remains a sense of positivity and pride in the way we still went for it and we are, of course, still right up there in the league with some positive to take.
The usual team try their hardest to go through the countless major talking points in an incredible London derby and provide their thoughts and feelings following our first loss of the Premier League season.
Join us for for an emotionally-charged, action-packed and foul-mouthed adventure, befitting of one of the maddest games we have ever seen.
Another week, another win as Spurs find themselves (temporarily at least) 5 points clear at the top, but still out on their own at the top of the league, 10 games in. We're still not getting ahead of ourselves though, as we take it one game at a time...
This week it's Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park who did their best to make the soaring Spurs look fairly average for large parts of the 90 minutes but our quality showed through in the end. We look over that game and how it played out before looking ahead to a huge fixture as our old friend Pochettino looks to lead Chelsea out on our turf and take us on in our own nightclub/fortress in just over a week's time.
We discuss the impending welcome that awaits our old boss and also take a trip back to the Poch days to ponder what kind of match we could expect and where it will be won and lost - there are some bold predictions and some strong language (what else is new?)
This week's episode is brought to you by Dags and Socs as Dave gets a well-earned rest ahead of Palace and Elio serves a one week suspension for allegations of corruption against the Premier League.
Join our streamlined team as we take a measured and sensible look back at the latest triumphant performance by the Champions-elect, Tottenham Hotspur as they go marching on towards May with one hand on the trophy (or something like that...)
You'll find our best tactical analysis following a good win against Fulham which leaves us one win from going 5 points clear at the top, our reviews of all the big performers as usual as well as a couple of listener messages to entertain you.
Hello listener, are you missing Premier League football? Is there a void in your heart that can only be filled by the return of Angeball? Come and have a taste of the next best thing - a group therapy session with 3 like-minded sufferers of Spurs withdrawal (and a Leeds fan called Dave) here to talk about the mighty Tottenham Hotspur and their 8-game-old charge for the title.
With only the slightest hint of tongue in cheek and varying degrees of conviction we talk about out credentials to be up there in May, what might have to happen to give us a shot (short of an injury crisis at the Etihad and Spurs signing Jude Bellingham in January) and what we are doing right to give us even the faintest right to dream.
We also take this opportunity to go on a very short trip down memory lane and look back at this excellent start to the season with some of the dust having settled, with clear(ish) heads to assess the story so far, highlight the big surprises, the key statistics and how it's left us all feeling as Spurs fans/Spurs sympathisers.
We all know we probably won't keep this up all season and we probably won't go on to win the actual Premier League...
...but seriously though what if we could?
The Spurs go marching on! Once again we didn't make it easy for ourselves but the important thing is we got the win, we got the three points and it's enough to sail off into the international break top of the league as we pray for most of our players to make it back in one piece.
Dave takes the week off as, presumably, Spurs winning repeatedly is starting to bore him - leaving Dags, Elio and Socs to discuss a hard-fought 1-0 away win at Premier League new boys Luton Town. We discuss a frantic opening 10 minutes, a needless Bissouma red card and of course big Micky's first goal in our shirt capping off another outstanding outing.
There's also a look ahead to Fulham and how we might shape up Bissouma-less-ly for that one. Finally - just for good measure - a round of Challenge Elio is thrown in right at the end. Enjoy the pod and enjoy your place at the top of the league, Spurs fans, wear it with pride. We all know we've worked hard for this!
What's that? You want more last minute drama? More wins? More VAR controversy? More cards, more goals and more crying opposition fans? Well you, listener, are in luck. Spurs are anything but boring right now as we manage to secure a massive 3 points in a home match against 9-man Liverpool thanks to the help of some lovely Angeball (and our own 12th man in Stockley Park).
Some say Liverpool had this one coming - we discuss all this and more after an exciting 2-1 victory that leaves us as one of just two unbeaten teams left in the league and right up there in the mix at the top of that tree.
Elio is back to his brilliant, pompous best with a stunning trademark rant aimed at Liverpool and their fans, showing quite how little sympathy he has for the Merseysiders. We discuss some of the usual suspects pulling out yet more outstanding performances and go over all the controversial (or not so controversial) decisions and we flirt with the idea of letting ourselves dream - if just for the briefest of moments.
Hope you all enjoy this episode of Elio's therapy sess-we mean the Plus Dave Podcast!
Spurs survive a trip to the Emirates! Not only do they survive, but they come out with their heads held high, leaving many of us a renewed sense of optimism for the season ahead.
To help us discuss the match and the efforts of Ange's young superstars this week is a star of the present and future - podcasting prodigy and FCA-award nominee Harry Scarfe. Harry makes his Plus Dave debut in a huge week and settles right in like he's been doing this for decades, showing us old dogs how it's done.
As a passionate advocate for raising awareness and campaigning for extra support to autistic and neurodiverse individuals - in football and beyond - Harry tells us more about his efforts in this area as well as his own unique experience growing up as a Spurs fan with autism and what Spurs specifically are doing to support our neurodiverse fanbase.
We bring you our thoughts on a hard-fought and well-deserved point away to Arsenal and look ahead to a similarly challenging proposition in Liverpool next weekend.
Please follow Harry @HarryScarfe22 on Twitter/X and please go and vote for him in the Football Content Awards for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion - Individual of the Year. You can vote at footballcontentawards.com/voting.
Well Spurs, you sure know how to keep things interesting!
We're back this week with a (relatively) regular episode to discuss a thoroughly irregular ending to our home game against Sheffield Utd - adding to our illustrious trophy cabinet with a new record for the latest comeback in Premier League history (a record we took from ourselves, of course)
Dags, Elio, Socs and Dave discuss the drama and everything that led to it, before turning their attention to the big one next weekend - the dreaded NLD at the Emirates. Is this the year we reverse our fortunes? Does Angeball have enough might to outwit Arteta and his latest experimental lineup?
While this week is slightly more professional than last week (a low bar if ever there was one) - rest assured, the poise and composure take a fairly sharp nosedive towards the end - where, just as it did around the 97th minute at the weekend, everything gets just a little bit silly.
We have bold predictions, in-depth analysis, foul language and even a good old-fashioned Challenge Elio for the veterans among you.
Happy birthday to the Plus Dave Podcast - as we turn 2 years old, we celebrate in this special episode by throwing all semblance of structure out the window - waving goodbye to anything remotely approaching intelligent, professional football debate and conducting ourselves with all the maturity you would expect of your typical 2nd birthday party.
Rather than discussing movement in the transfer window, our players' performances in the international break or our upcoming ties with Sheffield United and Arsenal, we instead wade through a pile of questions from listeners, friends and even Chat GPT, ranging from the thought-provoking to the utterly ridiculous, often both at the same time and everything in between.
Thanks again to all of you who have kept us inspired and going for 2 years. We hope you enjoy our party and forgive us for what is quite possibly our least professional outing to date.
If you're tuning in this week for the first time - we sincerely apologise.
Here's to the next two years!
Ahead of our 2nd birthday party special next week on Monday, Dags wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you for listening and announce an exciting competition we are running to celebrate the occasion.
To enter, please like and share our latest Twitter post (pinned to our profile), follow us @PlusDavePodcast and send in your best questions before Monday evening to be answered on the show! (Over 18s only)
Five goals away from home against a rough bunch of Northern hard-arses led by the second coming of Pep? No problem - just another day in the office for Ange's superstars. Dave has his work cut out this week trying to keep a lid on our expanding optimism as the inevitable yet fanciful 'title challenge' chat rears its head.
We look through a five star performance headlined by a hattrick from captain Sonny and a goal a piece from our two vice captains. Loads to be happy about this week, plenty of players of whom to sing praises and an all-round joyous hour and a bit for your enjoyment.
We look (very briefly) back on our cup exit in an attempt to keep the good mood going and look ahead to Sheffield United at home in 2 weeks, wondering just how many goals we will put away in that one - seven? Eight? Anything is possible when you're loving Big Ange instead.
There's even a brief throwback as we get a (short) Challenge Elio making a return - and a quick preview to next week's episode which will mark our 2nd birthday as a team of Spurs fans and a Leeds fan called Dave.
Spurs are good! Really really good. Dave takes refuge from a team of irritatingly high-spirited Spurs fans this week, fresh off the back of a promising 2-0 away win over a tricky Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
With Dags returning as host after a Man Utd-hating retreat in Leeds, Elio and Socs join him in an immediate post-match review of a really encouraging performance taking Spurs (temporarily at least) top of the league!
We go through the match, gleefully analysing all the wonderful moments and impressive performers and wonder how long Spurs can keep this up, where our ceiling is and whether we should even allow ourselves to dream!
There's the usual preview of the upcoming fixtures - this time being Fulham in the cup and Burnley in the league and perhaps an unprecedented amount of joy and optimism in our two years recording the show.
Tottenham are back and we can't get enough!

With Dags away on a Plus Dave pilgrimage to learn the origin story of Dave, Elio is given far too much leeway in his hosting duties. We also bring some fresh blood just like Big Ange this time from the Man Utd fanbase to be ridiculed. Do Spurs actually feel like Spurs again? Is it possible, will the faith return?
The season is back! A fully stocked Plus Dave team console themselves (except Dave who couldn't care less) over the departure of Harry Kane by looking back on our season's opener - an encouraging, albeit unpolished, display against a Brentford side many expected to cause us big problems. We take an in-depth look at all the key performers in a new-look side taking on its first competitive challenge as an Ange-inspired unit.
We also look ahead to the next challenge, Postecoglou's home debut against Man United in what will surely be a measure of how well the team is coming together.
There's lots of discussion around how the team might start to shape up as the season progresses, where we look good, where we might need tweaking and who is already starting to impress.
It's good to be back, Spurs fans - legend might come and go but us fans, we're never going anywhere - we hope you enjoy!
Football is almost back! We're just days away from the start of the season, recording in the midst of a Harry Kane transfer storm - mere hours after it was announced Spurs had accepted a bid from Bayern, before rumours crept in that maybe Kane would stay? By the time you read/listen to this, who knows what may have happened!
We talk new signings, pre-season games against Shakhtar and Barcelona, Oliver Skipp's brace, Bissouma's class, how much we may or may not hate Chelsea and what pre-season has taught us about how we could line up when our season gets underway on Sunday and we finally see some competitive Angeball.
We of course preview the season opener away at Brentford and we give your general predictions and hot takes ahead of the season in a segment guaranteed to make us all look very silly by next year.
It's time to get excited!
We're back with more pre-season action! No special guests this week (aside from the always-special regular contingent returning once again). Thanks to Spurs we are never short on topics to discuss, chief among them of course being the ongoing and escalating Harry Kane saga and the wider topic surrounding the best way to handle it.
Elio and Socs get into it, discussing their slightly opposing outlooks on the end of Kane's time at Spurs as we consider the various permutations of selling now vs selling next year, selling to a rival or selling abroad.
We also take our first proper look back on the opening 2 games of pre-season against West Ham and Lion City Sailors and pick out our highlights and players that have made the biggest impression with the opening day of the season looming.
All this supported by Dave doing his level best to pretend he has watched any Spurs pre-season whatsoever, let alone that he cares enough to discuss it.
Hopefully we manage to get you excited about the new season rather than put you off entirely - either way, as always, we hope you enjoy the show.
For a second year running, Dags welcomes back recurring guest star and resident FPL expert, David Price AKA Pricey AKA the OTHER Dave - back to give us his best Fantasy Premier League advice ahead of the new season and to tell us how he became back-to-back Plus Dave Super League champion.
We talk Tottenham player prices, most owned players, hidden gems, strategies, tough calls, top tips and more! There's also Pricey's exclusive team reveal (almost definitely due to change beyond recognition by Gameweek 1) and the less hotly anticipated team reveal from Dags who has given it all of 5 minutes' thought until now.
Finally we run through some of the best Spurs-themed FPL team names.

The Plus Dave returns for a third season as regulars Dags, Elio, Socs and Dave are joined this week by an extra special guest - Tifo Football's own Jon Mackenzie! Jon becomes only the second Leeds fan to ever grace the show and joins to kindly help us break down an exciting Summer window for Spurs ahead of Big Ange's debut campaign as boss.
Strap in for a feature length episode this week as we take a deep dive into Ange Postecoglou's system, how the squad profile needs to shift to best serve it, how that process is going so far and how Spurs might shape up for the new season.
We take a look at all our new signings in depth and what they could bring, before ambushing Jon with a surprise Tifo Sensible Transfers-inspired treat of our own.
There's also some bigger picture discussion around shifts in football tactics outside of Spurs and the use of data and analytics in the wider football world (for the real nerds among you) some early pre-season predictions and more than the usual share of gratuitous Leeds United tangents.
We hope you enjoy this blockbuster opener to the new season and huge thanks again to Jon for his help in making it all happen!
Welcome back listeners and welcome Big Ange Postecoglou!
Just when you've had enough of Spurs, they make an exciting, if slightly divisive, hire to drag us all back to the sports pages and to drag our team back to the microphones.
Join 3 of Ange's fellow Greeks and a Yorkshireman as we give our feelings on Tottenham's new manager, what we like, what should concern us, what shouldn't concern us, how the team might shape up under his stewardship, which players will fit and which might be on their way out.
Well played Spurs, well played... (let's hope that's not the last time anyone's saying that for a while)
Enjoy!
It's finally over - we get the sweet release of a Summer break as three very tired Spurs fans are joined by the only man more fed up with football: a Leeds fan called Dave.
In this season finale, we look back at how Spurs decided to show up the one time we didn't want them to and sealed Leeds' fate as a Championship club next season and we talk about what Spurs need to do to avoid joining them there in the next few seasons at what feels like a pivotal point for the club.
We get stuck in to some thorough planning around a squad reshuffle looking ahead to next season (no matter who the manager eventually is) and try and imagine life after Kane.
Finally we also bring you our end of season awards (no prizes for guessing our player of the season) and try to remember some of the highlights from our 2022/23. Thanks for sticking with us all year - hope you enjoy this sign off and hope you all come back next year once the irrational pre-season optimism starts to grab hold of all of us once again!
We are in the endgame now.
As the season's end and El Dávico draw nearer and the Levy Out chants grow louder, we look back on our latest disappointment, bottling a strong first half performance against Brentford in our last home game of the season.
We can always rely on our red and white neighbours to out-bottle us though and with the maths finally confirming the ultimate collapse, we rejoice in the small petty victory, celebrating with the unveiling of Socs' new all-trolling Twitter handle.
We dare to contemplate life without Harry, cautiously confident that we haven't just seen his last home performance in a Spurs shirt.
Dags returns to the host's chair and is joined by Elio, Socs and Dave as the group unanimously prepares to root for Leeds in what is essentially a nothing game for Spurs and an everything game for Leeds.
All of this is closed out with a little bit of Beyoncé for your listening pleasure.
Unlike the weekend and our season - we assure you this one gets better as it goes on.
Regular host Dags takes a well-timed holiday to spare himself the constant pain of following Spurs, leaving Elio, Socs and Dave with the unenviable task of breaking down our latest two attempts to salvage our season - giving their expert analysis on our ties with Palace and Villa before previewing our penultimate game of the season - the warm up act to the crucial finale at Elland Road, AKA the only game left of this season with any significance. As expected, much chaos ensues without the firm hand of the usual host at the helm, reminding listeners why you shouldn't mess with the system. Elio once again showcases his unique talent for spontaneous, wild analogies while Socrates shows that it's not just obsessive football expertise that runs in the family but also the ability to test the boundaries of what can legally be said on a recording. Dave (presumably) shakes his head throughout while looking down at a quickly-emptying glass/bottle of wine and Dags retains the arrogance to think he can write the preview of an episode he wasn't even a part of. Listen if you dare?
Two games to discuss this week as Spurs limp over the very low bar of not getting completely battered by either Man Utd or Liverpool. Join host Dags as he tries in vain to get a grip on the spiralling rage of regulars Elio and Socrates, while Dave just watches on and laughs.
On this episode we once again look at the bigger picture and what Mason's first two games back in charge might have taught us about the future of Spurs - including whether he has any sort of a claim to the permanent job himself.
We also look further into our current squad and discuss who the next manager might do well to ship out and who might have some purpose.
Naturally there is the usual amount of histrionics about all the scandal in the games themselves as we continue to question while we do it to ourselves over and over again.
We hope you enjoy our pain.
COYS, Dags
Do we really need to write a summary? You know exactly what this week's episode is about. Sit back and grab the popcorn, just like Spurs at St. James', this one's about to get messy.
Join the new regular team of 4 as we do our best to laugh so that we don't cry at Spurs' almost equally-shambolic efforts both on and off the pitch.
Once again we delve into the deeper problems and try to muster up enough remaining will to continue supporting Spurs and start to think about a way back from the ongoing state of humiliation.
Socs talks about the NBA, Elio compares Levy to Gollum, Dave drags Bielsa back into the discussion once again, it's a complete mess, but just like you know you'll keep watching Spurs, we hope you keep listening to our ramblings.
Meanwhile if, like us, you're yearning for simpler times and want a taste of nostalgia - please check out Dags' new article on the Plus Dave Press (written with some help from Elio) on the truly magnifique David Ginola. Link here:
https://plusdave.wpcomstaging.com/2023/04/22/david-ginola-the-maverick-entertainer-who-nearly-had-it-all
Once again Spurs plunge us in to the depths of despair and find new lows so once again we enlist the services of Socrates - our newly appointed doom and gloom consultant (it would seem) back to analyse another Spurs disasterclass and to give us his take on what the hell is going on with this mess we call a football club and where we go from here.
Joining Socs are regulars, Dags and Elio, as well as half an hour's worth of Dave, who probably regrets making the call that leaving the recording half way through to watch Leeds take on Liverpool would be a more enjoyable experience than discussing Spurs with us lot - we can always rely on him to make us feel a bit better.
On this week's show we pick apart that disastrous home loss to Bournemouth as well as the shocking treatment of Davinson Sanchez by some of our fans. We also look ahead to Newcastle next week who are of course one of our growing list of competitors for a top 4 place that feels to be slipping further away by the week.
Speaking of slipping away - we also indulge ourselves in just a little bit of small-club energy and fantasise about Arsenal somehow not being crowned champions.
Spurs continue a strong home run with victory against one of the in-form teams in the league and one hot on their heels (with perhaps a touch of help from VAR). Dags, Dave and Elio discuss the game at length and break down its various controversial talking points, including a fleeting moment of sympathy for Brighton - no, not really.
With the visit of Bournemouth to Tottenham at the weekend, we look ahead to the (hopefully) realistic prospect of getting another result at home and keeping pace with Man Utd and Newcastle in that top 4 chase.
Don't forget to follow us on Twitter @PlusDavePodcast and let us know your thoughts on Spurs, the show and send in any questions or comments for the team (but do stay classy).
Another week, another mess. Join a 4-strong Plus Dave team this week, bolstered by the return of an old face (or voice) to help us sift through the ashes of our latest Spursy finish to a match and the surrounding corporate circus the club is currently putting on.
David 'Pricey' Price doubles the Dave count and joins in various discussions including how we threw away 2 points against 10-man relegation candidates, how we might fare better against the in-form team in the PL next week and other orders of business.
We bring you the latest in our managerial search and our two cents on the matter and even find time for a little chat about how many Spurs players might get into a 'Big 6' XI and a 'best of the rest' side.
Where do Spurs go next? The inevitable parting of ways with manager, Antonio Conte has been confirmed by the club with the dream duo of Stellini and Mason taking interim charge for the time being. With big things happening at Spurs we drafted in a special guest as we welcomed back Socrates to give his thoughts on all the developing drama and the future at Tottenham.
Joined by Dags, Elio and Dave - the team looks back over Conte's time in charge and tries to assess how he really did, how it will be remembered and how it ended.
With several managers being touted as the new man for the job, we talk through options and which would make the most sense as well as analysing the bigger picture at the club and our apparently lack of a clear vision.
Also on the agenda is the ever-underappreciated marvel that is Harry Kane - now England's all time leading goalscorer as well as a preview of a trip to Goodison Park to face Sean Dyche's Everton.
Socs exposes Elio with some scandalous behind-the-scenes revelations about the PDP, Dave champions the 'Bielsa to Spurs' narrative as usual and Elio is once again at his most defamatory.
Follow us on Twitter @PlusDavePodcast
Spurs throw away a 2-goal lead against the bottom side in the league but the Spursyness is overshadowed by a spectacular Antonio Conte post-match rant to rival an angry Elio.
Speaking of angry Elio, there is plenty of that for you in this episode and with good reason as we look back at the Southampton result but also Conte's sensational comments, the context around them and his achievements (or lack thereof) as Spurs manager to date.
No Dave this week as he took a tactical week off to stay well clear of this mess - presumably also annoyed at us for not even taking care of Leeds' relegation rivals for him.
Could this be the end for Conte at Spurs? As you're reading this or listening to the episode, it may well already be. Where did it all go wrong, what have we learned and where do we go from here? With the writing on the wall, Elio and Dags consider who the board might/should appoint and what a new-look Spurs might look like come the new season.
The season is over! Or at least that's the view of many as Spurs go crashing out of their last cup after a disappointing display in the home leg versus Milan, leaving just CL qualification to play for to give us a chance to do better next time.
Dave and Dags fly Elio-less once again and do their best to fill the ranting void. As well as the defeat to Milan we also have a comfortable(ish) win over Forest at home to enjoy and a look ahead to an away fixture at Southampton that all Plus Davers are equally keen to see result in 3 points for Spurs.
The pod takes it's usual twists and turns as the team discusses succession planning for Conte with his departure looking inevitable and there's also an attempt to regain some perspective and remember why we put ourselves through this each week and what football is really about (hint: it's not trophies).

Check out The Plus Dave Press for our latest articles at www.plusdave.wordpress.com
Spurs are rubbish again! Join the usual gang (a delirious Dags, a despondent Elio and a drunk Dave) as we reluctantly pick apart two straight away defeats after everything was looking so rosy. With so many questioning the club's priorities, we talk about the FA Cup, what it should mean, and whether we underestimated our tie with Sheffield United in the 5th round.
We also look ahead to the upcoming home games with AC Milan, as we seek to reach the quarters of the Champions League, and former European giants, Nottingham Forest next weekend.
Challenge Elio makes a return and Dags takes every opportunity possible to plug his new article - including this one. Please go to PlusDave.WordPress.com and check out "Why Pep Guardiola owes everything to Tottenham Hotspur" - a tale of the passing of the tactical torch that takes you on a journey from WHL in the 50s and 60s, to Dutch Total Football in the 80s, to Pep's all-conquering Barcelona.
Another week, another win! Spurs extend their oddly impressive home run with another 3 points and another clean sheet - this time against struggling bogey team and all-round detestable outfit Chelsea FC.
Join us in an in-depth chat around the VAR drama just before half time which quickly spins out into a wider discussion of VAR and officiating in the game generally. Skipp fulfils a pre-season prediction from Dave by netting a thunderbastard to open his Spurs account in a lovely moment. Kane does what Kane does, Vio does what Vio does. Mount, Sterling and Ziyech all find their way into Elio's cross-hairs this week in a relatively rage-free outing from the man.
We also have quick previews of Wolves and Sheffield United to round things off as we start to allow ourselves to maybe dream, just a little, of FA Cup glory.
A very un-Spurs-like, routine 2-0 victory over West Ham suddenly means we are no longer filled with horror and dread looking at the table and readying ourselves for the run in to the season. Join the usual trio as we look at another Emerson Royal goal as the Emerdemption continues - as well as a few other standout performers from Sunday's game.
We then discuss how they can combine to dispose of a Chelsea team with just as much ease who, like West Ham, are having a poor season and also hate us just enough to potentially pull a performance from nowhere - unlike West Ham of course, against us they nearly always do. Calling Dr. Tottenham?
There's the usual foul language, obscene imagery and spontaneous attacks of character that have become the hallmarks of Season 2 of the PDP so we hope you take some sick pleasure in some of it. There's a small Challenge Elio to round things off with an unsung heroes theme.
Better late than never this week as the PDP runs it pretty close to the line to upload the latest episode before the West Ham game - the preview of which forms part of this week's show. Heaven forbid our predictions of a comfortable, routine victory on Sunday make us look stupid!
Join the team this week for a look back on two defeats, one in Leicester, one in Milan. We discuss (not for the first, nor last time) the problems inherent with our squad with plenty of individuals firmly in the crosshairs.
With rumours abundant about the fate of our manager, we go over the ups and downs of Conte and his managerial style as well as a certain reportedly magical potential successor and how he might put a spell on this underwhelming set of players.
Elio's language reaches all-time lows as Jamie O'Hara finds himself the chief recipient of his abuse, with Jack Grealish still reeling from his battering in the last episode.
Finally we talk about our rumoured takeover by Jahm Najafi and MSP Sports Capital and what that could mean for our beloved Spurs.
Harry Kane becomes our all-time leading goalscorer, overtaking the legendary Jimmy Greaves and gives us yet another home win over Man City in a great performance by the whole team.
Join us for yet another extended Harry Kane love-in as Elio and Dags Davelessly present you with a tribute to the great man himself (Harry, not Dave) and review the Man City match - complete with Elio letting his true feelings about Jack Grealish be known - and previews of Leicester and Milan.
We also have a couple of quick trips down memory lane we hope you might enjoy. Congratulations Harry - always one of our own.
Dave returns to his usual remit of trolling, playing devil's advocate and making it all about Leeds this week as Elio makes a triumphant return to the show. In this week's episode we of course look back at our 4th round FA Cup triumph over Preston and assess our credentials for the competition as a whole in our eternal hunt for that elusive trophy.
We also have the small matter of Man City to address as that home leg of that league double header approaches, as well as a round-up of an increasingly bizarre transfer window and a Pedro Porro snapshot that is, no doubt, already outdated as you read this.
We take the half way point of the season as a chance to look back at a few pre-season hot takes that have been surprisingly accurate (with some notable exceptions that were clearly a little too spicy) and we have the long-awaited return of some Challenge Elio.
A slightly overdue episode with a twist this week! Elio gets rested after some stellar performances leaving Dave and Dags to discuss two recent results and two upcoming games as well as two incoming transfers (one confirmed and one looking likely at this moment).
Come and hear our analysis of the madness that was 5 goals in 20 minutes at the Etihad, a valuable win over Fulham and a look ahead to hosting Man City in a bid for revenge and our FA Cup tie with Preston.
As always, there is plenty of other nonsense on the agenda.
Welcome back you most loyal of Spurs fans, still taking an interest despite the season's latest and biggest heartbreak. Join the team as we perform the autopsy on our home NLD as Arsenal extend their lead over us and the rest of the league with a deserved 2-0 victory.
As if that wasn't enough pain, we of course have the first of two upcoming clashes with Man City to look at as well as a trip to Fulham. Elio questions whether Conte truly knows what he's doing and tells us what he would do differently (we hope you're listening Mr. Levy - #ElioIn).
We also bring you exciting news of our new blog - the Plus Dave Press - and we turn our attention back to happier times as we look back on the recently-concluded, sparkling career of a certain Gareth Bale.
It's a beast of an episode this week as Dags, Elio and Dave talk you through 3 matches across the league and FA Cup that encapsulated the whole spectrum of Spursyness. From our failure against Villa at home to a welcome 4-0 thrashing of Palace and us securing our spot in the next round of the cup via Portsmouth - Spurs are back to winning ways and they will need to be with the upcoming visit of league-leading Arsenal inching closer.
Of course we talk in depth about those scumbags down the road and their title credentials - Dave eats some humble pie, Elio claims not to care about them, we stumble into an unplanned combined XI discussion and pick our team for the match itself.
There's a rather unique, but brilliantly entertaining, edition of Challenge Elio to cap things off as well. Hope you all enjoy and fingers crossed we have something good to talk about next week.
Spurs are back, the Premier League is back and Spurs have well and truly picked up exactly where they left off before the World Cup, redefining 'Spursy' in the proverbial game of two halves. Once again we found ourselves 2-0 down and having to make amends for a poor first half showing, this time against Brentford, only to conveniently remember how to play football as the game progressed.
Sadly it was only enough for a point as our grip on the top 4 chase starts to loosen ever so slightly. With the fixtures piling up we also look ahead to three upcoming games - Villa, Palace and Portsmouth in the cup.
We're glad to have you back and hope you enjoy another episode!
Spurs are back! Well, mostly they are anyway - some, like Cuti, are probably partying in Buenos Aires somewhere and may not be seen for some time.
We look back on an exciting World Cup and a Hollywood final that involved 2 of our boys, including a newly-crowned world champion. Back to back World Cups you say? You'll never sing that, Arsenal!
Join us as we analyse the impact of our various representatives in Qatar and what shape we expect them all to arrive back in. We also have a quick browse through the freshly-inflated post-tournament transfer window before previewing our Boxing Day clash with Brentford.
Welcome back, Spurs fans - we've missed you! Hope you enjoy.
Spurs v Leeds did not disappoint (well, except for disappointing Dave) - we all called a goal fest last week and this week, on our final episode before the World Cup in Qatar, we get to talk through 7 goals from the weekend's El Davico.
Dave graciously accepts his defeat by telling us, one by one, why each of our goals were lucky/undeserved due to refereeing bias, fortunate deflections and assaults on goalkeepers.
Finally we wrap things up with a breakdown of all the Spurs representatives at the upcoming World Cup, what we can expect from their teams and their roles within those teams, and make a few general World Cup 2022 predictions.
We hope you enjoy and please be assured... it's coming home!
Allow us to take this opportunity to thank you, our listeners, for sticking with us now for FIFTY episodes - we know some of you have been with us all the way from Episode 1 and we are incredibly grateful. To all new listeners of course a warm welcome too.
As a reward for your continued loyalty, not only do you get the team's thoughts on our dramatic Champions League group stage progression, our Round of 16 draw, our review of the Liverpool game AND our look ahead to both Forest in the EFL Cup and the big one - Leeds at home... but we're treating you to the return of Plus Dave veteran, Joe - back to assist in and oversee a blockbuster World Cup-themed quiz between the forces of Spurs and the forces of Leeds.
Hear Dave take on Elio in a mammoth trivia challenge, seeking to avenge his 2 previous defeats in our biggest, most complicated and most incompetently run Elio Vs Dave yet.
We hope you all enjoy and here's to another 50!
We love football again!
Indeed, all it took to cure our Spurs blues was a mere half an hour of competent football to come from behind against relegation-candidates, Bournemouth, with Rodrigo Bentancur emerging as the most fitting of match-winning heroes after a string of excellent outings shining brightly in a sea of mediocrity.
Leeds beating our next opponents, Liverpool, in their own back yard, certainly didn't harm the overall studio mood this week as all 3 Plus Davers had dramatic wins to enthuse over (they do say you'll never walk alone).
Dave gives us the inside scoop on how to beat Liverpool as we look ahead to that crunch tie as well as a huge do-or-die clash with Marseille in our final CL group stage match.
A little later than usual - this week's episode feels more like a therapy session than a podcast as Elio, without the calming presence of Dave, experiences the full sprectrum of the 5 stages of grief, after one of the toughest weeks for Spurs fans in some time.
The recording starts mere minutes after the stunning VAR U-turn on our winner against Sporting that should have seen us through to the knockouts of the Champions League - as we are introduced to Elio on the precipice of denial and anger.
After this anger spearheads a thorough inquest, addressing several underperforming players across the 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford, the 2-1 home loss to Newcastle and the agonising end to the CL match, Elio longs for the days of Pochettino, Redknapp and Jol, or simply for a more entertaining life as a Spurs fan in exchange for lower league finishes, as the bargaining stage begins to take hold.
Finally, through the wave of depression, he arrives at a nihilistic acceptance that this is just the Spurs way and this is what we have signed up to - doomed to an inevitable lifetime of Spursyness.
So come and listen if you enjoy pain and suffering - you are Spurs fans after all, aren't you? Among all the melodrama Elio and Dags do find space for some insight and detailed analysis and discuss how we might fare better when we travel to Bournemouth at the weekend. We hope, one way or another, you are entertained, you sick, sick people.
We'll whisper it, but Tottenham keep on winning! Sandwiched between a couple of very disciplined and almost routine victories to nil in the league, we had a somewhat wild match with Frankfurt, almost reminiscent of classic Spurs but thankfully one we managed to see out, taking us top of our CL group with our league form leaving us within touching distance of the scumbags at the top.
This week we talk about Frankfurt and Everton before previewing 2 upcoming league games in Man Utd and Newcastle and we engage in an extended discussion around Harry Kane's alleged diving and the state of the game and the VARs that officiate it.
Finally we have the return of Challenge Elio with a record-breaking flourish. We hope you enjoy!
Spurs are back to winning ways! Join a streamlined lineup of self-proclaimed world's greatest pundit, Elio and newly established Twitter celebrity, Dags, as they discuss a 0-0 at Frankfurt before looking ahead to the home return as well as a very important and impressive 1-0 victory away at Brighton.
As always, the team takes a snapshot of the season and does its weekly assessment of our standing in the table and of how Spurs are playing. We also look ahead to a home match against an Everton side on less-than-awful form, despite allegedly not having had a manager for the better part of a year.
All this, plus a tribute to 10 years of Captain Hugo, Dags' viral tweet, rumours of stadium naming, and a special XI, just for fun, to round things off.
Defeat at the Emirates - our impressive unbeaten run in the league finally falls to the worst possible opponents. Dags, Dave and Elio perform the autopsy this week on a tough defeat to take at the hands of the scum who remain top of the table thanks to 3 goals and a questionable red card as we all pull on our sky blue Haaland shirts and pray for our new lord and saviour to ensure they don't stay there too long.
We go into great detail dissecting the blow-by-blow of the first NLD of the season and where it went wrong for us and what we can learn heading into the rest of the season. There's also the usual look ahead to the games against Frankfurt and high-flying Brighton.
We also have a long-awaited return of Challenge Elio for your listening pleasure, Elio loves Steffen Freund and Dave walks downstairs to find Steven Gerrard ploughing Santa.
The Plus Dave is back, Elio and Dave are back, Dags is back, Challenge Elio is back, Eric Dier is back in the England squad... and Son Heung Min is well and truly back in business, putting 3 cherries on top of a delightful win over struggling Leicester from the bench in an 8-goal epic.
We break down one of our biggest home wins in quite some time while also looking back on our first defeat of the season - a late loss to Sporting in the CL group stages - and ahead to the biggest game of the season so far, Arsenal at the Emirates.
With a provisional spot at the top of the league at stake, we size up our North London/Woolwich opponents, who have come flying out the blocks this season, and talk about how we can take points off them in early October.
A short and sharp podcast this week (by our rambling standards) as the team is reduced to just Dags and Elio - the best Spurs partnership since Son and Kane...
After the postponement of the Man City game we instead discuss our 2-0 victory over Marseille to get our CL campaign off on the right foot as well as the upcoming follow-up against early group leaders, a Marcus Edwards-spearheaded Sporting.
We also look ahead to the next PL game where Spurs welcome a struggling Leicester looking to try and turn their season around.
We discuss the ever-increasing brilliance of Richarlison and our bizarre-but-effective approach to possession and territory of recent matches as well as a look at some of the ancillary Spurs matters such as Lamela still being Lamela, Scarlett lighting up his loan spell at Portsmouth, Lucas' controversial political alignment and of course where a win against Leicester could leave us, given all the postponed games, next weekend.
It's milestone for the Plus Dave this week for a couple of reasons - one of which being it's the first episode ever not to contain any Elio! Just like Kulusevski, after a string of flawless performances, Elio gets a well-deserved rest this week as Dags is joined by a tag-team of Daves - Leeds Dave and Dave "Pricey" Price who have a lot to get through in this week's show.
Not only does the team dissect back-to-back Premier League ties with West Ham and Fulham but there is also a preview of the Champions League opener against Marseille and the massive one at the Etihad next weekend where Spurs will be trying to repeat a famous away victory from last season's visit to champions Man City (and somehow stop the goalscoring machine that is Erling Haaland and his band of world class buddies).
We hope you enjoy and don't worry - Elio will be returning soon (no doubt to take joy in informing us of how hopelessly we failed without him).
The Plus Dave Podcast is minus a Dave this week as our resident Leeds fan takes a well-earned trip to Disneyland so, just to annoy him, we brought in a Man Utd fan to take his place as our token neutral for the week.
Enter veteran listener and archetypal London-based Man Utd fan born in the 80s, Charles Stewart, who joins Dags and Elio to look back on another Spurs win, two Harry Kane goals and Richarlison being Richarlison.
We also discuss our CL group, our upcoming fixtures against West Ham and Fulham as well as a few transfer rumours circling Twitter and beyond. This all punctuated by some truly appalling language and cutting-edge analysis (as ever) and rounded off by another game of Challenge Elio, this week with a Spurs-Man Utd theme.
Spurs and Leeds are fighting for the title! There's also the small matter of Arsenal in the way of course but this week, Elio and Dave discuss why Spurs are (obviously) going to catch them and finish above them by the end of the year.
With a struggling Liverpool side also in our crosshairs you'd better believe it's time for another ill-advised discussion about out title credentials that may very well come back to bite us hard.
But first we take a look at a scrappy and hard-fought 1-0 win over Wolves courtesy of a Gio Vio masterclass. We take a look ahead to Forest away next week and also the upcoming Champions League draw (we can't wait to see who Arsenal get).
Also in this week's episode - is it time for Richarlison to get a start over a faltering Son? The winner of our Royal Rumble is announced, there's a shock in Challenge Elio and Elio creates his perfect Frankenstein's monster of a Spurs player combining the best attributes of players, past and present.
Sorry if this podcast took a little longer than you hoped to arrive - our private jet was out of action so we had to take the bus to the studio like peasants. Stay hungry, stay classy - we hope you like this one!
Scandal, tantrums, last minute drama - and that's just this week's episode!
Welcome back for another Plus Dave Podcast where we look back over the lunacy and the drama of the 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge, all the wonderful controversy and ridiculousness, and try to find space to actually talk about the football as well as why we don't care that we robbed Chelsea of 2 points. Spoiler: it's because we hate Chelsea.
We also take a look ahead to the Wolves game at home next weekend and what to expect as well as a dramatic late winner in Challenge Elio. Sit back, grab the popcorn and enjoy the show!
Tottenham Hotspur - we're top of the league!
But listen quickly because who knows how long we will stay there! Just like last season, the Plus Dave Podcast gets off to a flying start as we look back on a convincing home win over Southampton, propelling us to a spot which certain people are starting to suggest Spurs could just make their own - dare we say it?
We talk title credentials and what separates us from the likes of City and Liverpool and indeed our next opponents, Chelsea, at Stamford Bridge - a ground that has not given us many happy memories over the years. We discuss why this time could be different and pinpoint a handful of early shining lights in our squad - including a particularly precocious young Swede.
The bizarre metaphors are flying out of Elio's mouth this week but, if that wasn't enough, he also takes the reins on his very own, hotly contested edition of Challenge Elio to round off our season opener in style...
We are back! Join us for the first official episode of the new season after a well-earned Summer break. It's back to business as Dags, Dave and Elio (taking precious time out of his holiday) summarise Spurs' pre-season efforts with a particularly close eye on the new boys and how they seem to be settling in.
We make our best attempt at predicting our starting XI against Southampton and how that game might go and we look ahead to our first few fixtures and whether we can give ourselves a strong start in our push to improve upon last season's 4th spot.
Finally, Dave and Elio make a series of predictions for the season, from the basics like - 'where will we finish?' and 'who will be our player of the season?', to the more obscure like 'will Kane score a free kick?' and 'who will score a thunderbastard?'
This is all rounded off with some general hot takes ahead of the season that we can look back on in months to come. Off to a strong start, let's hope Spurs can do likewise and we hope you enjoy us being back!
Time for something a little different this week - host Dags is joined by reigning FPL Plus Dave Superleague champion, David Price to talk all things Fantasy Premier League and the upcoming season.
Whether you're an experienced player or a complete beginner who fancies joining our league and trying their luck, Pricey gives his top tips on how to have a successful season and analyses the options for this year.
Dags and Pricey also reveal their own latest drafts for Gameweek 1 and take a deep dive into some of the Spurs options as well as a handful of other teams with good early fixtures.
With plenty to get through including the World Cup, 5 subs and the dreaded Pep-Roulette, we hope you enjoy this spin-off episode.
Finally - join our league using code 6torvb
We're back! After an uncharacteristically active start to our Summer window, Levy's chequebook is getting considerably thinner as Conte and Paratici have been throwing their weight around in the transfer market.
While Joe is off parked outside the recording studio of a competing Spurs podcast trying to get his big Summer move after a round of golf with Gary Neville, Elio and Dave join host Dags to talk about our 5 signings so far, how they could affect the team and who excites us the most.
We also look at the outgoings and some potential additions to an already packed window and take a revised look at the season ahead and how we see this new-look Spurs getting on come August.
Tottenham will be playing Champions League football again next season - let it sink in!
We'll also be sharing the Premier League stage with Leeds United who dodged relegation in dramatic fashion, ensuring that Dave isn't going to give up on football after all and we should have him back for next season.
Join us for our curtain call as we talk about our suitably emphatic 5-0 demolition of Norwich and take a look back over the whole season in review.
Find out who wins our various End of Season Plus Dave Awards (the Daveys) and also hear our thoughts and predictions for the transfer window and the season to come under Antonio Conte. And yes, there is one final Challenge Elio. It's a good time to be a Spurs fan!
We hope you enjoy this episode and of course that you enjoyed our first season. Sincerely from all of us at the PDP - a massive thanks to all our listeners!
It's the penultimate episode of our debut season and we are in good spirits as we reminisce over a massive home win against those scumbags in red and white! Join us as we discuss both this win and the following one against Burnley courtesy of a Harry Kane penalty that left us within touching distance of 4th.
This week we actually recorded as Arsenal were taking to the pitch up at Newcastle, little did we know we were about to end the week in 4th by rights with only a point needed to secure Champions League qualification.
We look ahead to both our and Arsenal's remaining game and perhaps dare to dream about CL nights at our glorious new stadium next season, a stadium that just experienced perhaps its best atmosphere yet.
It's been an up and down season to say the least but just one week to go now - come on you Spurs!
Next up - it's the big one!
Join a new-look team this week as man-behind-the-scenes Petros debuts right between two huge fixtures as we look back at a respectable 1-1 draw at Anfield and ahead to the most crucial North London Derby in years.
With Dave's Leeds having failed to do us a kind favour by taking points off Arsenal and with Petros hoping to have a debut as successful as Danny Rose, the team, completed by Dags and Elio, looks ahead to a match that could potentially define our season.
Finally, Challenge Elio is an eventful one as ever, littered with errors, cries of corruption and lazy research - why break with tradition 32 episodes in to the season?
The strike is over! This week the Plus Dave team returns (albeit Davelessly) as Spurs register several shots on target, including 3 that actually found the back of the net.
Join Dags, Elio, and Joe, looking back on the 3-1 victory over Leicester and the 0-0 at Brentford in the aftermath of Arsenal's win over West Ham that keeps the pressure well and truly on in the hunt for 4th.
As always, we look at the remaining fixtures and try to assess our chances of making the Champions League next season.
Finally, Joe takes on the unenviable task of challenging Elio solo in a packed trivia section, which includes a Son Heung-Min special round.
Conte's high flying Spurs came crashing back down to Earth this weekend in truly uninspiring fashion thanks to a home defeat by Brighton - the scourge of North London. Thankfully our neighbours from Woolwich failed to capitalise on the glorious opportunity we handed them, keeping the race/crawl for the top 4 interesting.
Join a refreshed team including long-term absentee guest, Pricey, as we struggle to find highlights from a dour contest and look at where the result leaves us and our rivals for the run in to the season ahead as well as a glance at next opponents, Brentford, and an upcoming brush with an old hero.
With a Plus Dave member recently having welcomed a brand new Spurs fan to the world, the theme of this week's Challenge Elio is successful young players. We hope this episode is at least more exciting than the Brighton match!
Another week, another truckload of Spurs goals for us to marvel at as a 4-0 win at Aston Villa puts us clear of Arsenal by rights in the hunt for that elusive 4th CL spot. The team is back to full strength this week as Dave makes a long awaited return along with Joe as we look at another successive Spurs victory and look ahead to Brighton on Saturday and the rest of our season.
Of course everyone's new hero Matt Doherty suffered an unfortunate season-ending injury at the hands of some good old-fashioned thuggery from Aston Villa so we discuss how this might impact our team heading into the business end of the season as well as whether robust tackles of this nature need closer scrutiny.
Challenge Elio is a particularly packed affair this week too with the themes including 'prolific front threes' and 'Spurs top goalscorers'.
The team is down to the bare bones this week as only record appearance-maker Elio and host Dags get to enjoy reminiscing over Spurs' spectacular second-half demolition of Newcastle United this week.
Despite this, we give that wonderful performance all the admiration and analysis it deserves delivering expert analysis while simultaneously watching Arsenal lose 3-0 to Crystal Palace (well, at least it's not just us).
With this in mind we take an optimistic look ahead to not just our upcoming clash with Villa but also the rest of the season and a thrilling run-in to the top 4 race up against Arsenal and others.
Finally we have the result of some of our 'Spurs Legends' polls on Twitter following last week's discussion, some interesting listener observations on punditry (and Elio's footballing ability) and some rather one-sided Challenge Elio for good measure.
For the first time ever the Plus Dave goes Daveless as the man himself takes a well-earned holiday. With no new game to look back on this week, the remaining team has a quick roundup of some of our performers on the international stage as well as those who were perhaps unlucky not to have been involved.
The main feature this week however is a discussion over what it means to be called a Spurs legend. Is it possible to tangibly define what makes a player a legend and what are the main criteria for achieving this often-overused label. We look at several examples and try to decide who does and doesn't make the cut - and why!
Joe also has his work cut out for him this week facing the unenviable task of challenging Elio without Dave by his side.
For the first time in a long time, the team has 2 Spurs victories to look back upon and analyse. Join us as we discuss the 2-0 win at Brighton and a crucial 3-1 victory over top 4 rivals, West Ham (not to mention a spectacular win for Leeds meaning it's a full house of happy fans for once!)
This week we take a closer look at a number of impressive individuals, vital in those results and take another look at the run in to the season from our new, slightly more encouraging viewpoint, with 9 games to go.
It's a particularly chunky edition of Challenge Elio this week too as the man himself takes on Joe and Dave in a series of puzzling trivia rounds following his record breaking efforts last week.
There's a load to get through this week as the Plus Dave team returns after a longer-than-usual spell on the sidelines. Join host Dags, reluctant Spurs enthusiast Elio and token Northerner Dave as we take a look back all the way to the Middlesbrough defeat in the FA Cup leading to a thumping 5-0 win over Everton and a return to losing ways at Old Trafford courtesy of old man Ronaldo.
We also look ahead to two big games in the league in struggling Brighton and top 4 (maybe top 5?) rivals, West Ham and look at the picture the league table presents.
Also in this week's show - Kane vs Henry, Wheels vs Doors, Challenge Elio and of course the results of our Football Manager 2022 simulation, throwing our combined Spurs/Leeds all time PL XI into this season to see how they got on.
Elio is back to his disturbing best - both in terms of his language and his unnatural memory for Spurs history and Dave have one last poignant word on the departing Bielsa. A blockbuster episode - we hope you enjoy!
It's a blockbuster episode this week as the team gets a taste of the big time, recording from a brand new state-of-the-art podcast studio in London to mark a monster date on the Plus Dave calendar. After a 4-0 thumping of Leeds United, Dave, aided by a few pints of Guinness, reluctantly joins the rest to try and work out how much of that result was down to Spurs' brilliance and how much was Leeds' rubbishness.
We also have a rather poignant discussion about Bielsa's legacy at Leeds in what proved to be the final few hours of El Loco's tenure as manager and look back on the slightly less spectacular Spurs match against Burnley and ahead to our next two fixtures briefly - Middlesbrough in the FA Cup and Everton in the League.
As a special treat this week, join us as we try to agree upon a combined Spurs and Leeds XI from across the Premier League era with the caveat that we must have at least 5 from either team.
And finally, the moment you've all (we're sure) been waiting for - the long-awaited rematch of Elio Vs Dave. In a slight twist on the regular Challenge Elio shenanigans, Elio and Dave face off once again in a head to head orchestrated by Joe, with a match-up intensified by the drama of the last contest between the two - will this one go right down to the wire too? Find out on the Plus Dave Podcast!
Order is restored and Dags is back on the mic to host a huge episode of the Plus Dave this week as the team joyfully recounts our best result of the season since... well since we beat Man City on the opening weekend!
Come and hear us singing the praises of our very own Harry Kane (after routinely bashing him for the best part of 22 episodes) following a masterful display against his would-be Summer suitors in a massive Spurs win which keeps us in touching distance of that all-important 4th spot and also throws a large spanner in the works of Man City's title charge.
Before we next record we also have crucial games to come against Burnley as well as none other than Leeds United, setting up a mouth-watering episode next week with Dave along for the ride so we look ahead to those ties this week.
Challenge Elio sees a brand new question format put to the teams this week as Dags continues to scrape the barrel for fresh ideas to keep you all entertained. We hope you all enjoy this even half as much as that last minute header from Harry!
With regular host Dags sidelined with an epic bout of man flu having briefly suspended his ability to speak, Elio shows his versatility by stepping into the hosting chair this week, jumping in at the deep end for a busy episode as he is joined by show regulars Dave and Joe.
With 3 games to look back on this week including an FA cup triumph over Brighton and two disappointing league defeats (making it 3 in a row), Elio has his work cut out keeping a professional, 'hostly' lid on his usual array of emotions and expletives.
In an uncharacteristically serious discussion, the team also tackles the ever-present 'Y-word' debate and tries to take a look at both sides of the argument in light of the club's recent recommendations on chants at our ground.
Finally, for a second week running Elio takes the helm at Challenge Elio with a short but sweet edition of the Who Am I game in what might be his finest moment so far - don't miss this one!
The transfer window has slammed shut - this week we record in the final few hours of the January window discussing a few incoming and outgoing players and taking a look forward to how a new-look Spurs could shape up for the rest of the season and assess the window as a whole. This, of course, includes a heartfelt farewell to Dele Alli after 7 mixed years with the club (and a slightly less heartfelt one to some others).
The stats are back in force this week as the team takes a deep dive into what new signings Kulusevski and Bentancur could add to Conte's Tottenham.
With a few games to look ahead to we take our customary glance at the table and our top 4 credentials before Challenge Elio ends things off with a twist! Stick around to the end for a nice surprise.
There is rarely a dull moment with Spurs as Dave can attest to as he reaches his 20th straight episode of being dragged into our bizarre little world. Join us for our thoughts and reactions in the first recording since that truly epic finish to the match at the King Power Stadium as we discuss Bergwijn's heroics before begrudgingly dragging ourselves back down to Earth to talk about the defeat to Chelsea.
We have our usual transfer round-up amidst some fresh rumours in what will be our last podcast before the window shuts and we also take a little look back on some other dramatic last minute finishes and famous Spurs comebacks over the years.
Joe returns for another week along with Plus Dave stalwarts Elio and Dave himself and this week's Challenge Elio sees a new record broken.
While Arsenal are running and hiding, too afraid to take on the mighty Spurs for North London superiority, we crack on like the true professionals we are and give you all your weekly Tottenham fix.
Also on this week's show, we look back at a fairly dismal exit at the hands of that other horrible team, which sees our cup dreams go out the window and we look ahead to a chance at revenge in the league shortly after our next league game against Leicester.
With Erik Lamela making it 2 for 2 for Spurs in Puskas award winners for the best goal of the year, we take the opportunity to discuss our favourite ever Spurs goals, each giving Dave a top 3 to whittle down into his definitive top 5. We even discover Big Mike's favourite ever Spurs goal in the process!
Other regular features return of course - challenge Elio goes on for way too long, Elio puts the bleep machine to work and Joe comes seamlessly back into the starting lineup like he never even left.
We're back and we're surrounded by huge games! After being bailed out by our big boys off the bench, Spurs have stumbled into the next round of the FA Cup, overcoming Morac... erm, Morecambe and we find ourselves sandwiched by London derbies with cup ties against Chelsea to look back on and ahead to and of course an upcoming crucial NLD to whet your appetites for the season to come.
With this in mind we take a closer look at Mikel Arteta's young Arsenal side and discuss whether they could be the real deal and if this could be the season they regain the ascendancy in North London.
Elio makes it 2 for 2 in football mispronunciation faux-pas as Challenge Elio gets tense in a Dave v Elio head-to-head finale of the 'Who Am I' game.
Two matches to look back on this week and a huge one to look ahead to as the Spurs go marching on, making it 8 unbeaten in the league under Conte. Join us as Joe makes a return to our lineup and we take a look at the Southampton and Watford games and once again assess our top 4 credentials with over half the season played.
Our next game is of course a huge cup clash with rivals Chelsea - a team for which we have made no secret of our contempt as a group in recent weeks. We take a look back at some of the good and bad memories from this match-up in years gone by and preview the first leg coming up on Wednesday and discuss how we can get one foot in the final... and maybe just one step closer to our first trophy in over a decade.
Elio proves as formidable as ever in Challenge Elio this week but shows that he might just have one glaring gap in his football knowledge after all!
We hope you all enjoyed your festive feasts of food and football over the last week - this of course included 2 Spurs wins which you shall hear us discuss in our usual excruciating detail in this week's episode (note that we actually recorded before the Southampton game but it didn't stop us having a go at reviewing it blindly).
This week, as well as our routine adoration of Oliver Skipp, we throw in a healthy dose of Lucas Moura love after the Brazilian really stepped up his game in the last two matches following on from his earlier wondergoal, stirred in with a healthy dose of Steven Bergwijn appreciation.
Speaking of wondergoals, this week we take a little look back over the year 2021 through our Lilywhite-tinted specs to discuss our favourite goals as well as favourite matches and moments of 2021 as well as our player of the calendar year.
Wishing you all an excellent New Year's Eve and looking forward to seeing you in the new year as we charge for the top 4 places!
We're back! After a brief hiatus with all our games having been cancelled, the Plus Davers return with a bang to sneak in the last episode before Christmas. The festive spirit is flowing this week (figuratively and literally) and the show quickly descends into carnage with the bleep machine really being put to the test as Dave, Dags and Elio struggle to maintain any semblance of decorum.
The only thing wilder than this podcast is the match we look back on and discuss - trying to make heads or tails of a spectacular end-to-end home draw with Liverpool that had nearly everything from goals to missed chances to sendings off and multiple penalty claims.
Join us once again for a jolly good, unfiltered chat about Spurs Liverpool as well as another round of 'Challenge Elio', all topped off with a fast-deteriorating standard of professionalism and major shots fired at certain Sky Sports pundits and certain rival London clubs.
Merry Christmas Spurs fans!
Last week there was no game to discuss; this week there were two!
Tune in for an extended episode this week taking a look back at a couple of very pleasing wins and clean sheets. Dave has his work cut out trying to contain our excitement as we close in on a return to the top 4 while looking ahead to a trip to Brighton next week.
Not for the first time this season we find ourselves singing the praises of young Oliver Skipp but the real star of the week was of course the man who may have just scored our goal of the season - Lucas Moura.
Challenge Elio proves a particularly challenging one this week with a dirty trick question thrown in for good measure. We hope you all enjoy all 1 and a half hours of the show!
Spurs match cancelled due to bad weather? Come rain or shine, the Plus Dave team have got your back (from the warm comfort of our remote recording studios).
Join Dags, Elio and Dave as a streamlined crew discusses the finer points of Burnley's grounds-keeping prowess and take a look forward to a tough Brentford fixture next weekend.
The team briefly fleets over yet another embarrassment on the global stage following a shock injury time defeat at the hands of some Slovenian plumbers.
Elio and Dave once again find themselves head-to-head in a tightly-fought Challenge Elio, containing snippets of Elio at his rain-man best and not one, but TWO rounds of everybody's favourite - the 'Who Am I' Game.
We hope this week's show goes some way to making up for your missing Spurs fix and of course hope you'll join us again next week to talk about an actual PL game!
This week we drag a despondent Dave kicking and screaming (well, somberly drinking wine) into the Plus Dave studio as we take a look back at the big one - El Dávico - Spurs 2-1 Leeds and talk through how Antonio Conte's first home league win played out and where the result leaves both teams going forward.
The team disagrees somewhat on the level of fluke involved in each of the Tottenham goals and excuses aplenty are made relating to depleted lineups and fortuitous rebounds.
We also discuss Conte, true to form, being an absolute madman on the sidelines, take a look forward to three upcoming Spurs matches that are arguably there for the taking - starting with a trip to Burnley next weekend - and Challenge Elio sees Dave introduce a new style of question.
This week in lieu of our usual look back on a Spurs game we instead look ahead to our crucial clash with Dave's beloved Leeds United next week and take the opportunity to have a slightly closer look at Leeds and what they have become under Bielsa as well as taking a a brief stroll down memory lane as we discuss a handful of memorable players who have worn both shirts over the years.
With some impressive performances to note, we also have a quick round up of all our players' international efforts this week from the World Cup qualifiers (only including those played up to the Sunday evening, sorry Harry - just the one hat-trick to marvel at this week).
Last but not least, strap yourselves in for a blockbuster, feature-length special edition of Challenge Elio which (to mark the upcoming Spurs v Leeds contest) sees Elio pitted against Dave in a nail-biting head-to-head football trivia marathon. Both contestants have the choice of a home (Spurs or Leeds respectively), neutral or away question for an increasing number of points but watch out, if you're wrong the points can be snatched back! You won't want to miss this one...
The Plus Dave reaches double figures on episodes as we already find ourselves having a new Tottenham regime to discuss. Two games into the stewardship of new boss, Antonio Conte we take a look at his first rather contrasting games in charge and see what we can take away from what we've seen so far.
We look at the insanity that was the Vitesse match in midweek and the 0-0 with Everton and try to predict what the shape of our team will be for upcoming matches and who might be on the way in or out come January.
We briefly discuss our player(s) of the season so far and our biggest disappointment and, as always, we round things off with another game of Challenge Elio which culminates this week in a dramatic smash and grab victory right at the death!
Spurs have a new manager! Join us at a very exciting crossroads in our club's history in an episode recorded immediately after the sacking of the ill-fated Nuno Espirito Santo as he becomes a footnote in Spurs history and makes way for... our saviour? Antonio Conte has become Tottenham manager at the second time of asking in an appointment that has to be seen as something of a coup for Spurs with Conte having been touted as the man for many of the world's biggest and richest clubs.
Following yet another lacklustre performance against Manchester United we discuss whether Spurs are actually the real winners of that contest amidst the fall-out from that game and take a look at how Spurs could line up under the Italian, which players will prosper, which may find themselves in unfamiliar roles and which may be shown the door. We also discuss possible January transfers and look ahead to matches in the league, the Europa Conference League and the Carabao Cup.
Challenge Elio comes with a small twist this week as well. We hope you enjoy... Ciao amici!
This week the team is brought crashing down to Earth by an away defeat to West Ham. Join us as we try to draw positives from a result that arguably could have gone either way and discuss how we can follow Liverpool's lead next week against Manchester United with the distinct absence of a Mohamed Salah in our squad.
We take a look at the current snapshot of the season so far and our league position, weighing up (dare we say it) our top 4 credentials!
Elio once again channels his inner Tottenham Rain Man and an old Plus Dave Podcast favourite makes a surprise appearance in a particularly challenging 'Challenge Elio' - a closely-fought affair between Elio and Team Joe and Dave.
We hope you enjoy this episode at least half as much as Dave enjoyed watching the Man Utd match this weekend!
Join a streamlined cast this week as Dags, Dave and Elio talk about Spurs' second successive league win against a newly-acquired Newcastle United side and a performance that probably paints a more promising picture than the scoreline suggests. Was this a product of Nuno's plan finally coming together, players syncing up and gathering fitness or will the same old problems resurface when we face stronger teams in the weeks to come?
We take a look at our next opponents, an impressive and industrious West Ham side that will be desperate to beat us and discuss how we approach that challenge and of course how we can overcome it.
Finally it's Elio vs Dave in a head-to-head 'Challenge Elio' to round of this week's slightly shorter episode. We're all delighted to finally be talking some positives about Spurs (yes, even Dave) so long may it continue! As always, we hope you enjoy and welcome any thoughts you may have.
With no Spurs matches this week, the team instead tackles an ever-present topic among Spurs fans and weighs up the highs and lows, pros and cons and successes and failures of ENIC, Daniel Levy and the board. We examine some of the main criticisms made of our owners and take an objective look at their merits while trying to assess how our board has run the club and where things stand today.
It's perhaps only fitting that our next opponents, Newcastle, have just had all their prayers answers and finally broken free of the shackles of Mike Ashley, but at what cost? We take a look at the new richest club in the world, what that means for them and the moral conundrum it brings with it.
Dave takes a painful trip down memory lane and tells us first hand what it's like to see a club over-commit on its financial outlay and Elio launches a savage, unprovoked attack on a seemingly random Newcastle United midfielder.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts!
Spurs have won a match! Join the Plus Dave team in what has become unfamiliar territory in recent weeks as our own revitalised lineup dissects a very pleasing performance against Aston Villa and tries to come to terms with Spurs actually playing well and deserving the 3 points.
We pick out our top performers and discuss how we can take the lessons from this win and apply them for the season to come.
With the international break on the horizon, this week the team also discusses the nations that have had the most significant impact on Spurs as a club with some nostalgic mentions for a handful of club legends and cult heroes along the way.
Sit back, relax and make the most of a rare episode where we're all in a rather good mood! Enjoy!
There's only one place to start on this week's episode - is it too early to say crisis?
Join Dags, Dave, Elio, Joe and Pricey as we try to make heads or tails of a thoroughly disheartening North London Derby display at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
The knives are out for everybody in this episode as Elio finally stops pulling his punches.
Did somebody say Nuno out, Elio in? Sit back, take a deep breath and listen to us unpack a third straight heavy loss and seriously contemplate the immediate future of our beloved club.
This week, join the Plus Dave team for an in-depth look back on our home defeat to Chelsea, including an exclusive pre-match and half-time chat with Joe as he visits our glorious stadium for the first time!
Of course we look ahead to what is now a huge game at Arsenal next week and take the opportunity to recount all our memories of derby days and experiences of the rivalry from down the years.
Finally, has Elio met his match? A new guest joins the team and gives our resident Spurs trivia expert a serious run for his money in a stunning debut right up there with Danny Rose's.
We hope you enjoy the show!
This week on the Plus Dave Podcast, a new member joins the team to help us try desperately to pick apart our disastrous international break, a sobering defeat at Selhurst Park and formulate a plan for the impending juggernaut that is Chelsea and Lukaku awaiting us next week.
We also address a somewhat controversial take on a beloved Spurs hero and Challenge Elio gets serious...
We hope you enjoy the show!
Please join us for our first ever episode in a brand new adventure as you are introduced to our band of long-suffering Tottenham Hotspur fans and of course, our resident Leeds United fan, Dave.
In this week's episode we take a look back at our great start to the season, as well as our Summer transfer window and we share our thoughts on Spurs' prospects for the season ahead of us.
Just for fun, we also decided to discuss which 3 Spurs Premier League legends we would bring back, at their primes, to slot into our current squad. We hope you enjoy!
