Ever wanted to know what to do when hitting the town in Brisbane? Well, we are probably the wrong people to ask. After this episode of the podcast you probably still won't have any idea of places to go.
You might, however, learn a little too much about at least one of the hosts. W might even talk about stuff that is completely irrelevant to the subject at hand.
We also drink beer...well, some of us do.
What is up with all these dodgey buggers lately trying to cheat their way to the top? From Fishing to chess, to poker and Irish Dancing there is no limit to the sports where cheaters try to prosper.
Russ and Warren kick it old school with a few old brews.
Plus who will win the 2022 World Cup? We have no idea but we will at least discuss it for a little bit
CUB proudly announced recently "Fruity Beer", a new category of flavoured beer, would be launched onto bottle shop shelves nationwide.
The idea of this had craft beer drinkers, including myself, scoffing into their fancy glasses of heavily hopped beers with disgust.
But what is Fruity beer anyway? Is CUB trying to attack the craft beer market? And what level of awfulness is this new product.
I was curious to find out...but too embarrassed to invite anyone else to the podcast.
The joy of craft beer is discovering new and exciting beer and beer makers. That is what Wazza and Pouring Old Russ set out to do on this episode.
We find some great, new small breweries to explore and, regretfully, one colossal beer maker that was surprisingly hard to recognize.
It's time get to all Fatherly with Warren, Russell and Kris as we embrace our ultamite dad form and basically have a giant whinge about the world.
It's not all negative, we also briefly talk about the good things of the Dad Life.
We also drink a couple of beers, probably an important part of a craft beer podcast.

For some of us everyday is a cheat day but todays episode is a proper cheat day.
Working Title Brewing are a bit of a favourite around the Pouring Old Men microphone so it was with great anticipation that we grabbed one of their recently released "Cheat Day" packs.
These packs contain four unique beers that wouldn't look out of place at Willy Wonkas chocolate factory. They're wild, they're bold but the question remains...are they any good?
You'd think after 69 epiosdes of the show Russ would know how to record through the correct mic. I guess not. So apologies for the audio issues, the down side is Kris is a little hard to hear at times. The upside, is that Kris is a little hard to hear at times.
The big question for this episode is, "Which Brewery is the Australian Equivelant of Garage Project?"
Garage Project is a remarkable brewery that seem to excel in many facets of brewing; quality, variety, innovation, creativity while running at an ever increasing size and still capturing a cult status among it's followers.
So which brewery on this side of the tasman meats all of those criteria?

Springfield's own Ash Barty is on top of the world once again after claiming the Australian Open title on Saturday night.
As if having a small, non-descript bridge on a local back road named after here wasn't enough of an honour, she now has a whole Pouring Old Men episode dedicated to her. Sort of, one of the Pouring Old Men put some effort in, the other grabbed some leftover beers from the back of the fridge.

These beer though...are a different breed. Three expertly crafted, very boozy little cans of deliciousness. They can may be small but they are pocket rockets.

Let's be honest, Christmas is an expensive time of the year. Between the endless presents for an ever expanding family or throwing money at wava after wave of Christmas parties there is barely enough cash left over for decent beer for yourself.
So braving the Black Friday crowds and diving deep into the bargain bins of the local bottle shop the Pouring Old Men may offer some tips on buying some cheap beers this year.
Or if things go tits up they might inadvertently convince you to spend more money on beer instead.
There has been a sudden rise the in the prominence of zero alcohol beer in the local market. Around Brisbane we are seeing brand names usually consigned only to the bottle shop shelves having prominence in the soft drinks isle at the local supermarket.
So with an open mind and an armful of good intentions, the Pouring Old Men take a bold step into the world of Alcohol Free Beer to see how it stacks up.

There's been a flurry of Cold IPA releases of late which had us asking...what is a cold IPA anyway?
So we grabbed a couple of them to put them under the microscope a bit to better gain an understanding of the style.
We also take some time to talk about movies that need more love than they received and Russ starts acting a bit too much like an old man.
This week our hosts are not actually at the races and this episode has very little to do with Horses, far from it in fact. The title is just a lazy marketing ploy that we have used to get attention on Melbourne Cup Day. Fingers crossed it worked.

This week the Pouring Old Men hit the road and ended up at the wonderful Corinda Tavern. Here we stayed for a chat and a few bevvies and sampled the atmosphere of this charming little pub in Brisbane's Western suburbs.
With three very different beers on tap, a couple of plates of hot chips and a few cheeky sledges at Kris' beloved Rabbitohs it was quite a fun afternoon.
A huge thanks to the team at Corinda Tavern for having us, in particular Gerald who went out of his way to help us out.
It has been 1 year since the Pouring Old Men podcast became to be a thing out on the airwaves of various pocasting services.
So the boys gather around the microphone with beers that may be befitting such a gran occasion.
Plus Kris tells of another time he fell in love with an exotic dancer and Warren talks about a donkey.
With the news of Lion's takeover of Stone and Wood still reverberating around the craft beer world Russell and Kris take a stand for the little guys still doing the hard yards.
So today we support those who still are fighting, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution, but from annihilation. They're fighting for their right to live, to exist and to brew brilliant beers.
These brewers will not go quietly into the night! They will not vanish without a fight! They will brew on, they will survive. Today we celebrate, Independents Day!

Hazy Beers have taken over the Craft Beer world in recent times to the extent that every brewery worth their salt usually has at least two in their core range alone. Throw in countless variations of limited editions and collaborations the options are endless.
But we ask the question, do they deserve their place as the Golden Child of modern day beer styles or have they over stayed their welcome? Or just maybe we are just a bunch of cranky old men resistant to change.

Before we got sent into Lockdown we managed to squeeze out on more high quality episode of the Pouring Old Men podcast for your listening pleasure.

There are a handful of Kiwi craft breweries that are well known to Aussie craft beer lovers but what about some breweries that Aussies aren't so familiar with? New Zealand has many small breweries with wonderful beers that never make it to our side of the ditch.
On his recent trip to New Zealand, Russ brought back a selection of beers for the Pouring Old Men to try that they wouldn't normally be able to find. What we ended up with was probably the most unique selection of beers on an episode we have had so far. Plus Russ made some Kiwi Dip, because it isn't a Kiwi Gathering without it. (look it up, it is totally a thing)
Are there hidden gems within the New Zealand beer scene? Will Russell now stop going on and on and on about Tigermilk IPA? (Nope - Russ).

On episode 30 of the Pouring old men podcast we try a Blue Beer, which put me in the mood for listening to Blue (Da Ba Dee) by Eiffel 65. Until I actually listened to the song and remembered just how ear piercing awful that song is. It's a real ear worm and that tune has been stuck in my head for over a week now.
There was a lot of good music that came out back in the late 90's and that song isn't one of it. I wonder what happened to those guys? Well if they ever open a brewery there is a market for more blue beer.
Speaking of which...Blue Beer, if Luke Skywalker can have Blue milk why can't we have Blue Beer? How did we get Blue Beer? We used the Sauce Luke, used the Sauce.
Speaking of Star Wars, we discover A New Hope...Estate boozy-licious brew that made us all gooey.
I will admit...I am pretty proud of that last star wars joke.

"Waiter! There's an ant in my beer", would be the obvious tag line for this episode as the Old Men tackle one of the weirdest beers they have ever encountered.

Turns out consumption of a Hazy Mango IPA does odd things to the Pouring Old Men, because the old timers get a bit...shall we say...distracted on this episode. Maybe something in Mangoes doesn't mix well with their old timer medication.
Or maybe it is the return of Warren in non-virtual form that has the Old Timers a little bit rattled.
It should also be noted that despite the pending arrival of Valentines Day there is barely a mention of it, so it is probably a fair bet that none of the Pouring Old Wives were treated well on the day of love.
Between acting odd and ignoring Valentines they old fellas do size up three beers for Show n' Tell; the aforementioned Mango Hazy, a beer from Green Beacon with too much abbreviation going on and a double scoop of stout from 8 Wired.
