Yulika opens the show with the track “Ayrılık Olsa Bile” by Afro-Turkish singer Esmeray. This episode features the intersection of her Romani ancestors alongside Africans who were both enslaved during the Ottoman Empire, and some personal gnosis that surfaced during mercury retrograde.
The episode ends on the historical clash of the civilizations, and how those interactions have shaped modern folk medicine practices.
She concludes on the importance of reconnection and strategizing during the retrograde ahead, by providing a quick astrological reading to the audience.
After a long hiatus, Yulika renews the show with an astrological weather report. She reflects on her recent work as a phone psychic, and the ways in which it has forced her to strengthen her own practice and perform reparations as a Romani woman.
Yulika introduces the episode with acknowledgement of International Roma Day, and speaks a little on her ancestry and experience as a Romani-Canadian woman. She quotes Sonya Renée Taylor on the realities of white supremacist delusion, and why Romani should not use the G slur just as much as non-Romani shouldn’t.
Yulika updates her audience about her new Etsy store, DrabarniBotanicals, and mentions some of the featured products. This episode’s shout out goes to the anarchist food bank which provided her a generous donation of ingredients, many of which will be turned into medicine. She ends the show with a story about nightmares and bad dreams.
Yulika shares her recent experiences preparing nettle based salves for her close friends, and gratitude for community support. Her nettle salves will be available for sale by commission in the Toronto area.
Yulika rants about the unfortunate weaponizing of the term “herd immunity” by the far-right anti-vaxxer movement in regards to the new Covid-19 vaccine. She comments on how this negatively impacts those who truly are medically unable to receive vaccines, and opens doorways to huge misunderstandings in the transformative justice communities.
Yulika talks more about her project on stinging nettles, including a recent recipe for salve and her upcoming guide book she will be self-publishing on Buy Me A Coffee. She focuses her herbalism approach around harm reduction and mindful consumption of “all natural” products.
