On the evening of August 21st, 1955, 11 terrified residents of the small town of Kelly, Kentucky, flooded into the local police station with a harrowing tale. They claimed that they had not only seen extraterrestrials that evening, but had been fighting the creatures for most of the night. Their story has held a strong place in UFO lore to this day. In the early morning hours of June 10th, 1968, a young teacher named Irene Izak left New York and headed to Canada in pursuit of a new job opportunity. Irene was traveling alone in her tan 1965 Volkswagen, heading north on Interstate 81 when she was pulled over for speeding by a New York State trooper. She was given a warning and sent on her way, but about 45 minutes later, the same state trooper who had pulled her over previously, reported finding her lifeless body in a ditch near a heavily wooded area. This is the story of the murder of Irene Izak.

On June 9th, 1979, families and friends gathered at Luna Park in Sydney, Australia to spend a fun-filled evening together. A group of young boys along with a father and his two sons were some of almost 30 people who climbed aboard the ride known as The Ghost Train. The fun and excitement quickly turned to terror when a fire broke out on the train and seven of the passengers did not escape the flames. Was it an accident or was it arson? This is the story of the Ghost Train Fire at Luna Park.

On the morning of January 4th, 1935, a bellboy at the Hotel President in Kansas City, Missouri was checking on a hotel guest who had left the phone off the hook in his room, when he discovered a horrifying scene. On New Year’s Eve in 1964, a woman named Shirley Coleman was at home with her five children when she received a knock at her farmhouse door. It was a husband and wife that Shirley had never met. They were clearly shaken up and asked to use her telephone to call the police. The couple described a grisly scene that they had discovered at a rest stop along Route 81, and the crime would haunt Jefferson County, New York for years to come. On the evening of September 6th, 2006, a registered nurse named Susan Kuhnhausen (now Walters) arrived home, looking forward to relaxing after her long shift. On November 10th, 1985, a hunter was walking through the woods in Bear Brook State Park in Allenstown, New Hampshire, when he stumbled upon a large steel drum. Inside the drum was two bodies that had been dismembered and wrapped in plastic. 15 years later, on May 9th of 2000, a second steel drum was found in the same area containing two more bodies. It would take 17 years to find the killer, and even longer for the victims to be identified. But that is not the end of this mystery. This is the twisted story of the Bear Brook Murders.

On the morning of July 2, 1937, a female pilot and her navigator, took off from New Guinea, on one of the last legs in their historic attempt to circumnavigate the globe. Their next destination was Howland Island in the central Pacific Ocean, around 2,500 miles away. The trailblazing female pilot had already set several aviation records, and she was looking to set another by becoming the first woman to fly around the world. But something went wrong on this attempt, and the pilot, her navigator and the plane were never seen again. The pilot was a woman named Amelia Earhart, and this is the story of her life and disappearance.

At around 4:00 in the afternoon on Thursday, July 15, 1976, a school bus driver named Frank Edward Ray was driving 26 students of Dairyland Elementary School home from a summer class trip to the Chowchilla Fairgrounds swimming pool when a van blocked the road ahead of the bus. On the Morning of February 10th, 1990. In Las Cruces, New Mexico, a bowling alley mechanic named Steven Teran arrived to work just before 8:30 am. With him were his two daughters, six-year-old Paula and two-year-old Valerie. The girls would be cared for by the bowling alley owner’s granddaughter, 12-year-old Melissia Repass and her friend 13-year-old Amy Houser at the daycare which was inside of the bowling alley. On December 4th 1998, 14 year old Michael Politte was hanging out in his hometown of Hopewell Missouri. It was a typical evening and Michael met us with his friend Josh and then invited him over for a sleepover. Michael’s mother, Rita, came home around midnight and everyone went to bed. The next morning, the boys woke up to find the entire mobile home filled with smoke… but that wasn’t all. Rita had been brutally murdered, and her death would set off a chain of events that would change Michael’s life forever. This is the murder of Rita Politte.

On Friday September 9th, 1949, just outside of a small town north of Quebec City, CA, residents heard a loud explosion. Shortly after, a small plane plummeted from the sky and hit a rocky hillside killing all 23 passengers on board. What seemed from the outside to be a tragic plane crash, ended up being much more. Edinburgh Castle overlooks the beautiful Scotland city that it’s named after. It sits on an extinct volcano known as Castle Rock that is several hundred years old. The location of the castle was a strategic move, as it would be the site of many battles and wars in the years to come. With such a long history of death has come many stories of hauntings that have cemented the castle’s reputation for being one of the most haunted places in Scotland.

On the morning of June 2nd, 2009, a woman living in Wayne County, OH received a knock on her door. It was a boy who lived in the house next door, claiming that he couldn’t wake his mother up. As the woman went to check on her neighbor, she discovered that she wasn’t breathing. Because they lived in an Amish Community, the woman had to call 911 from the community's phone, but by the time authorities arrived, the unconscious woman could not be helped. This is the murder of Barbara Weaver.

In 1884, a widow, fueled by the grief of losing her husband and infant daughter, purchased a small farmhouse on 45 acres of land in California. Over the next several decades, she continued to add on to the home, creating a huge, bizarre, 24,000 square foot mansion with over 160 rooms. The widow’s name was Sarah Winchester. And this is the story of Winchester Mystery House.

On August 28th, 2013, a young man named Bryce Laspisa, left Sierra College, where he was attending as a sophomore. Bryce was heading to his parent’s home in Laguna Niguel, which should have only taken a few hours. He had just gone through a breakup and had told his mother that he had a lot to talk to her about. Just after 2:00 am, on August 30th, 2013, he called his mother to tell her that he was pulling off Interstate 5 in the Sierra Pelona Mountains to rest. This was the last time anyone would see or hear from Bryce Laspisa.

In 1881, a German immigrant named Hannes Tiedeman built a beautiful, Queen Anne style mansion on Franklin BLVD in Cleveland Ohio. He quickly moved his wife and children into the home and named the property the Franklin Castle. Over time, many dark events occurred on the property, leading it to be known as the most haunted house in Ohio.

On the morning of March 12th, 2011, Rachel Oertili, a manager of a Lululemon store in Bethesda, Maryland, arrived at the store just before 8 am. Rachel immediately knew something was off, the front door was unlocked, and the store was in complete disarray. As she entered the store she found a scene out of a horror movie, bloody footprints leading around the shop and the sound of moaning... Not wanting to proceed any further, she had a customer who was nearby, store enter the store to investigate. He found one woman, who would later be identified as Jayna Murray deceased, and another woman, Brittany Norwood, who was clearly injured but still alive. Brittany was able to describe the horrific crime in detail and the case sent shock waves throughout the small town. But everything was not as it appeared.

Friday the 13th is typically a day of misfortune and accidents, if you’re someone who believes in superstitions. And Friday January 13th, 2012, was no different. A cruise line tradition is for newly launched vessels to be christened with a bottle of champagne broken against the ship before it’s first sail. In 2005, when the Costa Concordia was preparing for its first cruise, supermodel Eva Herzigova attempted to christen the ship, but the champagne bottle didn’t break. This is seen as a bad omen for cruise liners. And it would be the first of many to come. In the 19th century and into the early 20th century, tuberculosis killed as many as one in seven people. The symptoms of the- then incurable- disease were as bad as some of the experimental treatments that were available at the time. A Sanatorium was built to house and treat the ill in Louisville, Ky and it saw it’s fair share of death, thousands to be exact. When someone becomes a nurse, they take an oath to do no harm.. But what happens when that oath is broken? In 1796, a beautiful plantation home was built in Francisville, LA on a piece of land that was purchased by a man named David Bradford. According to local legend, the land that the plantation was built on, was an ancient Native American burial ground. The location and the dark history including several reported murders on the property have led to it being called one of the most haunted places in America, and a popular location for ghost hunters to investigate.

On April 5th, 1984, a 14 year old girl named Tina Faelz was walking home from school, which she had done many times before. She was initially planning on walking home with a friend named Julie, but Julie’s mom would not let her walk home with Tina that day, claiming that she had a feeling that something bad would happen. The feeling that Juie’s mom had that morning was confirmed, when later that day, as Tina was walking home, she was attacked and brutally murdered. Her death shocked the small town, and it would take many years, a small amount of DNA and an eventual confession to close this case.

On May 27th, 1936 the RMS Queen Mary set sail on her maiden voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. This would be the first of over 1,000 trips for the British Ocean Liner, which had accommodations fit for elite class passengers. The Queen Mary would become known as the “Stateliest Ship Afloat.” The ship included two pools, nurseries, entertainment venues and even a small hospital, and when it wasn’t transporting passengers across the Atlantic, it was transformed into a wartime vessel to aid in transporting soldiers all around the world during WW2. The ship traveled over 600,000 miles in it’s career and carried an estimated 2.2 million passengers during peacetime as well as more than 800,000 military personnel during the war. The vast history and reports of at least 47 deaths on the ship, has given way for reports of up to 600 spirits haunting the Queen Mary to this day.

Just before midnight, on the evening of December 6th, 1991, a reporter and photographer from a local CBS affiliate, were on a ride-along with Austin Police Department Sergeant John Jones. They were initially following up on a call from earlier that night when a new call came over the radio for a report of two fatalities. “Suspected arson, suspected homicide, looks like gunshot wounds..” Jones quickly flipped his lights on and headed to the scene of the I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt shop, which was located in a strip mall off of West Anderson Lane. The call was quickly updated by a cop who was at the scene, he said “Jonesy, make that four.” What he would find when he arrived at the scene would continue to haunt John Jones for decades to come. The bodies of 4 young girls, bound, shot and burned inside the yogurt shop. It’s been 31 years since this horrendous crime and the suspect… or suspects are still out there, walking among us.

In September of 1896, 150 inmates were brought to the Ohio State Reformatory to serve their sentences. What they weren’t aware of, is that much of the prison was unfinished at the time, and the inmates would be tasked with finishing the construction. They would go on to install the sewer system, 6 outbuildings as well as a 25 foot stone wall. The reformatory’s history quickly turned dark with over 200 confirmed deaths on the property, and this led to it becoming what is known as the most haunted place in Ohio. On the evening of January 10th, 2013, a long-haul truck driver named Kenneth received a call that no father wants to get. His 17-year-old son, Kendrick, hadn’t returned home from school that day and no one could find him anywhere. Kendrick’s mother Jackie arrived at the High school the next morning, demanding answers about where her son was, only to be notified that he had been located in one of the school’s gyms, deceased. Kendrick was found upside down inside of one of the rolled-up gym mats, and his death was ruled accidental. His parents and family felt immediately that this was no accident, however, no one has ever been charged with a crime in this case. Was this an accidental death or a massive cover up?

The Lake Shawnee amusement park was a family favorite location, built in the late 1920s in West Virginia. Complete with a Ferris wheel, a racetrack, a swing ride and a dance hall, It was created as a place for families to enjoy the outdoors as well as the fun environment that the Amusement Park Provided. What was hidden beneath the park’s joyful exterior, was a dark history that plagued the land long before the park was built.

Missy Bevers was a mom of three daughters who lived in Midlothian, Tx. She was a fitness instructor for Camp Gladiator and was preparing for an early morning class at Creekside Church of Christ on the morning of April 18th, 2016. She arrived at the church around 4:20 am, and what she didn’t know was that there was an assailant that appeared to be dressed in tactical gear wielding a weapon, already inside the church that morning. When Missy’s students arrived for class less than an hour later, they discovered Missy, gravely injured. What really happened early that morning and who killed Missy Bevers remains a mystery to this day.

In 1974, a young author and his wife visited Boulder, Co in search of a solution for the man’s writer’s block and a change of scenery for his next novel. The couple was encouraged to travel about an hour north to a beautiful resort in Estes Park to escape and relax and hopefully get the author back into the right mindset to begin another book. This young author was Stephen King. He and his wife Tabitha arrived at The Stanley Hotel on October 30th,1974 and at the time, the hotel was about to close for the season, so they were the only guests in the hotel for the night. During this visit, he experienced many dark and strange dreams that helped encourage the idea for the renowned horror novel,The Shining. The strange occurrences at The Stanley Hotel didn’t begin with King’s experience and still continue to this day with ghost tours and paranormal investigations being common occurrences.

On October 12, 2012, reigning Miss Ohio, Audrey Bolte was expecting to go on her first date with a man she met on Facebook named Ryan Poston. When he didn’t show up, she went home thinking he just blew her off. What she didn’t know at the time is that Ryan was dead, having been shot 6 times by his on again/off again girlfriend of 18 months Shayna Hubers. Shayna would go on to confess and claim that she shot him in self-defense and that she had to protect herself from Ryan, however the evidence and Shayna’s erratic behavior would tell a different story.

The events that occurred in Salem in 1692 were one of many witch hunts that occurred in a period of unrest between the early 14th century and the late 18th century beginning in Europe. Belief in the supernatural and specifically the belief in the devil’s practice of giving some humans the power to harm others in return for their loyalty spread throughout Europe and eventually to New England. Between 1692 and 1693, more than 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft in Salem and 20 people were executed. This included 14 women, 6 men and 2 dogs. Yes, dogs were not exempt from the accusations. Five people also died in jail while awaiting execution. The specific cause of the trials is unknown, however people continue to speculate to this day.

Tamla Horsford was last seen alive at an overnight houseparty that she attended on the evening of November 3rd, 2018. The event was a birthday party for the homeowner Jeanne Meyers , who Tamla knew because their sons played on the same football team. The next morning, Tamla, was found unresponsive in the backyard and appeared to have fallen from the home’s deck, which was about 15 feet off the ground. The following February, investigators announced Horsford’s death had been ruled accidental. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office closed the investigation, finding no evidence of foul play. To this day, Tamla’s loved ones believe that there is more to the story and what really happened that night remains a mystery.

Since its creation, there have been nearly 700 deaths at Lake Lanier. About 200 of those deaths have occurred since 1994, and at least 27 of those people have never been found. While there are many instances of people drowning, there are also reports of freak accidents, missing persons, and inexplicable tragedies such as boats randomly going up into flames. It was Christmas Day in 1996, the Ramsey family had just spent a fun-filled evening celebrating the holiday at the home of Fleet and Priscilla White, who were friends of the family. The family returned home around 10:00 pm, when JonBenet was put to bed. Her parents claim that is the last time that they saw her alive. The Boulder Police Department has interviewed more than 1,000 people in connection with the crime, however the case remains unsolved.
