This week I was able to weasel myself into Dermot Kennedy's schedule, who was originally in the building for a completely different gig. But he and his team were sweet enough to free up some time for me so I could have a sweet and short interview with him. Dermot filled me in on the secretive stuff that is going on while he is live on stage, opened up about the pressure he felt due to the release of his sophomore album, Sonder, and why he thinks his private life is just too boring to talk about.

Raye came in for a Lowkey Deep interview on the 18th of October, and I was definitely overrunning the time slot that I had with her, just because talking to her was crazy interesting. She told me, for example, how her label massively screwed her over, forcing her to work for other artists instead of her own, about the unfair treatment of mostly female vocalists in the dance industry, and her journey of finally setting herself free to create her very first album after working in the music industry for over 10 years.

This Lowkey Deep episode with Sophie and the Giants was already recorded a few weeks ago, on September 21, 2022. However, it’s so memorable for me because I immediately felt like Sophie and I had the same vibe. We were not only giggling from the first minute and throughout the whole conversation, but she was also open to sharing a lot of deep thoughts, struggles, and emotions. For example, she told me how at one point she had to break up with her own band, about a much-needed emotional wakeup call, about creating a safe space in the form of an own club and finding her own path in music.

This interview with GloRilla was absolutely funny, real, and, as always, lowkey deep. For example, GloRilla told me how she was so broke at one point, that she was almost homeless, how she experiences the sexist treatment female rappers have to deal with, and she showed me the very first voice message that Cardi B sent her. This is a really quick and spontanious interview that I had with Louis Tomlinson. He came to our radio station for something completely different, but was kind enough to take a few minutes for a Lokey Deep Bonus episode.
