Peter, who had just declared Jesus to be the Messiah, takes Jesus aside and rebukes him, saying, "Never, Lord! This shall never happen to you!" (Matthew 16:22).Jesus responds to Peter by saying, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns" (Matthew 16:23). Jesus' response may seem harsh, but it is important to understand the context of the passage and the significance of what Peter has said………Let’s get into it.

Friendship is one of the most interesting types of relationships that two people can have. These days I hear more sermons about how to deal with “haters” than how to build solid “Philia” based friendships. Jesus spent a lot more time, words and energy on teaching us how to build each other and less time on how to address those who tear down, e ven though he was betrayed by Peter who in his inner circle and Judas was supposed to be his disciple………..let’s get into it.
