Science, like theology, is of a fallen human origin, and is thereby deficient.
When Christ returned to heaven, He authorized leadership for His Church to go forth in the power of the name of Jesus. This spiritual power not only was able to address hopeless brokenness and arrogant usurpation, but even more potently the hidden agendas of the heart. In today’s passage, we see how God’s power exposed the ugliness lurking beneath the surface of a good deed. As a result of this divine display of power, we see the harvest of God’s people recognizing an “active presence” of God!
Dr. Luke reveals, from eyewitness testimony, that the new converts to Christ were feeling great pressure to conform to the popularized expectations of both their civil and religious leaders. Those 1st century, non-christian expectations would have had them self-silence, closing their own mouths and abandoning the evangelism of others. Luke reveals that the promised power of God came, strengthening them to speak-up, unashamedly. The Spirit guided them to pray and to study and proclaim the Word.
It was by the power of the Holy Spirit that Peter witnessed with boldness about Jesus to powerful people- the elite, who were also the very ones who had Him crucified 52 days earlier; yet, as Peter said, Jesus is the only name by which we can be saved!
To change the Narrative: God can take a broken life and restore it. It is not about silver and gold. It's about meeting the true need!
The Next Generation: A Symbol of Hope. Children are so important. God's Design is so important; the world actively works against it.
A Family Dwelling Among Families. Believers are called to pray, be thankful, and communicate well, walking wisely in regard to unbelievers and making the best use of the time God has given.
It is not good for man to be alone. A husband is to love his wife and not be harsh with her. This is God's design.

Recognizing the inappropriateness of the old fashion. Put those things away! This exchange is both punctiliar and progressive; when understood, it echoes the very same passage shared by Paul in Romans 12.
In Matthew 12:39-41 and Colossians 2:17 we see how Christ is the fulfillment of the Old Testament shadows and the sign of Jonah. By suffering and dying on the cross, Christ provided atonement for our sins. Today, we celebrate Christ's resurrection and victory over sin and death. Together we are victorious with Christ!
Christ was only to suffer once for sin; His single work on the cross was wholly sufficient to atone for sin. When Moses struck the rock, the rock being a representation- or shadow -of Christ, God was not pleased. Do you see Christ? Do you see how He is faithful and how He undeservingly suffered and died to pay for the sin of His people so that we may spend eternity with Him?
The cursed snake on the stick was a foreshadowing of Christ on the cross. He became our curse so that we might be blessed with a relationship with God. God calls us to look up to Christ in faith to be healed. Are you looking?
The ark represents Christ's sacrifice on the cross and our need to find shelter in Him from God's wrath on sin. Are you in the "ark"? Are you united with Christ?
The altar was a shadow of Christ's once-for-all substitutionary sacrifice for sin. The blood of animals could not cleanse us from our sin; only the blood of Jesus can cleanse us from all unrighteousness and make us right with God.

The Israelites after returning to Jerusalem following the exile heard the Word of God read out loud for the first time and they said AMEN and AMEN. They recognized and accepted that God is omnipotent and holy while also seeing that they themselves were not. They wept. But there is hope in that God has provided atonement for our sin through Jesus' death on the cross. To this we all should say AMEN and AMEN.
God is BIG in our salvation! Over 500 years ago, Luther veered from the false church teachings that said man was big in salvation as Luther returned to the truth of Scripture. Salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone. God alone is our deliverer from evil/the evil one.
