Celina Gougis, a student athlete from Northridge, California, attended Alemany High School. She went on to play basketball on an athletic scholarship at Westmont College and graduated with a B.A in Business and Economics. Â After graduating, her passion for playing women's basketball and travel lead her to pursue a basketball career in Europe, but her path wasn't of the norm. Â Â Not being picked up by any teams she thought of innovative ways to reach her goals. She thought why not figure out a way to further her education and continue playing, so Celina researched Master's Programs in different UK Universities that also gave out athletic scholarships to American players. It only took a few days of emailing that she had interest from a University called Durham in England. She applied to the Marketing Program, bought her ticket and played another year of basketball while exploring another country! Â As of now she is working on her dissertation in Marketing from Durham and making plans to play pro next season while coaching youth basketball and enjoying her time back home. ---Â

When Kim Pulido, a former student athlete, was 3 years old she picked up a basketball and hasn't put it down since. The game started off as something she had fun playing and became a foundation for her life. It taught Kim the importance of discipline, patience, and hard work. Those three attributes have led her to have a successful career as a personal trainer. A career that requires the three but also requires a true understanding of being relentless. Â Â There were many times Kim wanted to quit in such a competitive business but as she learned as a women's basketball player, to control the controllable and let fate be what it is. Kim can proudly say by being a student athlete it has landed her own training facility and has allowed her to also coach young student athletes in a manner that she hopes will help shape their lives the way the game has shaped hers. Our guest today is Scott Cvetkovski is a former student athlete and the the founder of Positive Sports Leadership. Scott has been involved in business, leadership, and education his entire life. Scott developed the âSports Leadership Guideâ for athletic captains and aspiring leaders in the world of athletics. The core structure of the guide is based around the principles of Emotional Intelligence. This leadership guide acts as a resource for captains to learn from and refer to as they take on the role of a leader on their respective sports teams. Scottâs love of leadership and helping others inspired him to develop presentations and workshops to continue to be a positive influence to those who wish to lead their programs and people to success. With this knowledge, Scott recognized the need for Emotional Intelligence inside the athletic world, corporate world, and education sector and became a Certified Emotional Intelligence Coach to create another crucial workshop and assessment to help others achieve greatness within their organizations. The guide also offers Emotional Intelligence examples and how having leaderships skills are important in creating a thriving environment. Emotional Intelligence in coaching also creates positive leadership and leaders in sports and in life.

Eugene D. Holloman is a former 2x all-conference running back at James Madison University. Growing up he had aspirations of playing professional football after college, but after two significant knee surgeries before his senior year, his plans were derailed. After graduating with a degree and pursuing a major simple enough to keep him eligible but that honestly disinterested him, Eugene quickly regretted not taking school more seriously. While writing numerous research papers on leadership, Eugene decided to write his first fictional novel âThe Athlete Student: Freshman Year.â His goal is to reach as many student athletes and youth as possible in hopes that this story will benefit them, as Eugene believes having such an inspiring read would have been highly impactful when he was in high school.
