Welcome to the podcast of Christ Fellowship of Allentown, PA. We are an evolving Mennonite fellowship, dedicated to spreading truth and love throughout our city in Jesus' name.
Today we spoke about women and men through the lens of Genesis two and three. Is God's will for women to be subservient to men? Are men supposed to rule over women? The Bible adamantly says, "NO!" So what is a woman's place? What is a man's place? What does God want?
Today we looked again at the story of Stephen. He died a good death for the sake of Jesus, but we also see that he lived a good life in preparation for that day. What can we learn from this? What is the relationship between how we live our life today and how we will leave this earth?
Today we looked at the story of Stephen in the book of Acts. In the midst of doing good, he along with the rest of the Jerusalem church experienced intense persecution. Please listen and be blessed as we look at Stephen's life and what we can learn from this challenging piece of Scripture.
With the many denomination and divisions we see in the church today, the question must be asked, "How do we find unity?" We have seen people try throughout history to find unity through practice and doctrine, but has that worked? Today we looked at the name that binds us together and under which we can find unity in the midst of diversity.
Today we spoke about yokes and burdens! While Jesus was on the earth, He said that if we will lay aside our burdens and instead take his upon ourselves we will find rest. But what are those burdens we need to lay aside? And what does it mean to take his yoke upon ourselves? Please listen and be blessed in Jesus' name!
When Peter and John approached the lame man in Acts 3 they did not give money or comfort or some sort of message of empowerment. They knew the man's greatest need and gave him Jesus. We can learn from their example. Please listen and be blessed in Jesus' name as we examine why it is absolutely essential that we as Christians share Christ with everyone we meet.
Today Sam gave an impassioned plea for unity in the church, focusing on the need, formula, effects, and fruit of unity as displayed in Acts 2. This message will give you meat to chew on for weeks to come. Please listen and be blessed in Jesus' name!
These are epic days we are living in, and epic days call for a big, epic outpouring of God's Spirit. Today we looked at Peter's sermon on that great day of Pentecost long ago when God formally began the church and inaugurated these "last days" we are now experiencing. Please listen and be blessed in Jesus' name as we look at what this amazing outpouring meant for the people then and what it means for us today.
The day of Pentecost was an incredible and exciting day in history. As God's Spirit roared into Jerusalem, the people were left asking, "What is going on? What is God doing here?!" As in the early days of the church, God's Spirit continues to work in us and through us today. Please listen and be blessed as we look at the birthday of the church.
In the beginning of Acts, Jesus left his disciples with a command to wait until they were "baptized with the Spirit." So what did they do? Did they just sit around doing nothing? Or did they make use of that time of waiting in a productive way? Please listen and learn as we examine the connection between waiting and preparing by looking at their example left to us in Acts.
What is God's heart for people? What did Jesus come to accomplish? We know that God is out to redeem our lives, but could there be even more to his plan of redemption? Today we examined the heart of our God and looked at the implications this incredible truth has in our lives. Please listen and be blessed in Jesus' name!
