In our second episode of the limited series, we introduce you to Brad Miller. Brad, is a Canadian blogger living with Becker's Muscular Dystrophy sharing his personal story with a focus on raising awareness of the issues those with disabilities face. Brad shares stories from his childhood and teens up into becoming an adult with Becker Muscular Dystrophy. He aims to hold nothing back by sharing each defeat along with every victory - while providing a few tips along the way. He believes we can learn a lot from each other’s stories and encourages everyone to join in the conversation. In our first episode of the limited series, we hear from Alan Chaulet!

Alan Chaulet is the Chief Operating Officer and Founding Boardmember at All Wheels Up. Since 2014, he has co-led them as the only nonprofit working to make Airplanes Wheelchair Accessible. All Wheels Up has conducted the first Wheelchair Crash Test and successfully lobbied Congress to pass their amendment requiring a study on the feasibility of in-cabin wheelchair restraints.

Graduated from Bentley University in 2013 with a bachelors in Management, Alan has always wanted to be an entrepreneur. Alan also serves on the Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy Adult Advisory Committee where he represents adults living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

It was a pleasure to have Alan on the podcast, as we speak about the various struggles that people experiencing Duchenne muscular dystrophy face when seeking access into healthcare.

Alan is also fighting Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and has centered his activism around both his experiences and his peers, who are also fighting muscular dystrophy. Alan's activism focuses on supporting policies at both the federal and state level that would benefit people with disabilities and muscular dystrophy.  In this interview, Deshan and Alan discuss the financial setbacks of having Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, and how a single payer healthcare system could alleviate some of the financial stressors caused by DMD.
