Are you more concerned about "your" kingdom coming or Jesus' kingdom coming? "His Kingdom Come" is a sermon I did with Duchana Gille, NJ Campus Women's ministry leader, back in November of 2018. One of the main passages we dive into is Luke chapter 5 when Jesus tells Peter, James, and John to let down their nets and calls them to give up everything to follow him. Duchana shares her conversion story but also talks about the importance of letting Jesus be Lord over our emotions and opinions. How's it going in your life with letting Jesus have the authority over your absolutely everything?
We see that from Genesis to Revelation God's plan has always been for his love to rule the earth through us, his image-bearers. This is a recording of a sermon I preached back in October of 2018 to the NJ Campus Ministry. The goal of this sermon was to look at the Kingdom language throughout scripture and see why the Kingdom of God was such good news when Jesus of Nazareth came on the scene. This was a fun one to write/preach and it was a turning point for our ministry at the time.
Stephen & Hannah Oguagha are ministers in the Harlem Region of the NYC Church of Christ and they have two young boys. In this episode they share about what it was like growing up in the church with parents as disciples and what role their family played in them finding their own authentic faith. As part of our conversation we also discussed the reality of many people today coming from broken homes and not having an example of a Godly family. So then what role does the family of God play in this? What does scripture tell us about God's heart and vision for His family? To be clear, this episode is not just for parents but is for anyone who is desiring to learn about God's heart for family in scripture. Why is building true family (not just biologically), so important to God and the future of His Kingdom community on earth? Take a listen to find out.
What does undivided devotion look like as a single person within God's Kingdom? How can we go about finding our intrinsic value with God and not a partner? Duchana Gille was converted to Christ as a college student at Montclair State University in 2013 where she received her BA in Biology. Duchana has been serving as a Campus Minister for the NJ Campus Ministry for over five years now. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Colorado Christian University with dreams of merging ministry and professional counseling together in her work. She has a passion for helping young women find faith in their college years, inspiring young women to utilize their strengths and gifts, and training student leaders to lead in God’s kingdom.
Acts 2:17 “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams." God calls us to dream for the future of His Kingdom and our role in it but this can be easier said than done. So what do we do when we lack the motivation and inspiration to dream for His people? Ever struggle to believe that God can use you and your life in a powerful way? Matt & Rob are two of my closest friends and biggest inspirations. We each serve alongside each other as campus ministers in the NYC Church of Christ. Join us as we discuss what helps us to dream throughout every season of life.
How can we actively bring the Kingdom to our communities? How do we go about imitating the ministry of Jesus in 2021? Paris Cunningham and his wife Zainabu lead the Mercer County Church of Christ in Princeton NJ and have been doing an amazing job of engaging the surrounding community. They are bringing church to the people in an inspiring way and empowering disciples to serve. Hope this episode inspires you to bring the Kingdom to whatever town or city you're in!
In this podcast we will aim to answer two questions: 1. What does it mean for the Kingdom of God to come on earth? 2. What does it look like to have a heart invested in His Kingdom? Join me on the journey.
