Networking really is about making friends. Making connections, being out there, and basically making sure that you are getting to know more people, what they do, and how well they do it. And keeping your eyes and ears open on opportunities where you can provide those benefits.

- Must have the desire, inclination, and propensity to provide value and benefit on a consistent routine and regular basis.
- Focus your time, energy, and effort on providing lots more value than you received.
- Don’t keep score.
- Generosity, not greed.

Don’t worry about constantly looking to meet new people just yet.
If you truly feel that you get the best cases and the best business opportunities from your referral sources. Then you needcome up with a networking plan to benefit from your referral sources, from your contacts, from the people on your database that already know you.
Get your contacts, get ’em into a spreadsheet. Review your contacts. Classify your contacts, and then use your spreadsheet and come up with a plan to connect and stay in touch.
What numbers must you know in your law business?
Start simple. Do not get overwhelmed. These are the important numbers that you really need to know and track and pay attention to, even before you take the first dollar from that particular client.
The total number of leads that you get in your business.
The total number of qualified leads.
What is the lead source?
The total number of qualified leads that show up for their scheduled appointments.
The total number of qualified leads that sign up at the appointments.
The total number of qualified leads that sign up after the initial appointment.
How to get the most benefit from your top 12 referral sources? Why do we pick the number 12? Well, There are four quarters in the year, and there are three months in every quarter. You’ve got three groups of four, and you’re going to connect with them, reconnect with them, and then repeat them every particular quarter.
Consciously and deliberately pay attention to those top 12 for this particular exercise, which I promise to you, if you implement this correctly and you do this routinely and consistently, it is going to have a direct and noticeable impact on your business development opportunities.
