Listen in as I explain to my kids just how crazy this is. We even did a test experiment where we threw blocks as a projectile in the air at each other to try to see if we could hit them in the air. ITS CRAZY! WHAT A NEIS! Hashem has our back and we will see many more neissim returning all our hostages home as well in this month of redemption AMAIN!
Usually I’m listening to every shiur I can get my hands on about the time period we’re in. Why not now?

How is it possible the pasuk tells us the Jewish people were “eating and drinking” right after they got the luchos? 🤯 these ideas give joyous chizuk to the times of Israel and tie in beautifully to Purim. This is the raw real life version of riding the waves of life - the lows as well as the highs. It’s not always roses, we’re not always strong- it only matters if we can rise up from when we fall. Saying Tehillim grounds me and makes me feel like I am actually making a difference. Our sincere tefillos to Hashem are protecting our soldiers and the families in israel. It’s a war of prayer. Hashem is the only one in control, who and what are we choosing to put our faith in? Reading the English soothes me so deeply because I realize how much this always was in the plan. Hashem is stronger than any of this. Hashem is bigger than all of this. There is a plan. We may be in misery, excruciatingly mind numbing heart wrenching pain - and we will pray through it. We will CAPITALIZE on the pain and desperation by using it as a channel for prayer. Please Hashem end this now! Only You can solve this. The world is just a mask. Nothing is real other than Ein Od Milvado, there is only You. Please accept our tefillos, we’re a changed people. We’re doing better. We sincerely do love each other. I promise. Please believe in us and trust us, and continue to fuel us with the strength to keep holding on.

This Reminds me exact of what birth can be like . I’ve also had epidural peaceful no pain births- but I recall with my first birth - feeling the moment when I was going to completely give up, just subsume to the pain, and mentally die in my mind and soul from how tired I was of this NOT ending”. There is no better metaphor to Galus (exile) than birth and as women some of us have physically experienced the process of galus exile to geula(redemption) in our bodies. But How do we differentiate between strict judgement and the birth pangs of mashiach? I believe the din is the chevlei mashiach 😭😭😭😭😭💔💔💔 it hurts so bad but the uterus has to squeeze and contract to get the baby out. The vessel has to contain and put tighter boundires to create and contain what needs to happen. And it’s din and gevurah. And it hurts. But it’s the only way to have your baby 😭😭😭 Hashem wants us so badly. We want him so badly. So many times I am in so much pain mentally just from living everyday life, facing challenges Hashem sends me, and I tell myself THIS AGONY I feel IS the birth pains! My pain is birthing mashiach! I have to moan through it, I have to breathe, I have to visualize the wave creating and peaking until it slowly fades away. We have constant “contractions” in our life but now they are coming very fast and very strong. It’s painful bc this baby is coming now. It needs to happen. Black and white- it’s clear. the head is crowning. There is No Chessed and extra TLC when the baby is coming. The baby is coming now and it hurts so bad. But it will be over so so soon. And we are going to be held and snuggled by Hashem so soon, embraced in the cocoon of those first newborn sweet moments. He loves us so much. we can’t be afraid to just scream and cry and moan and shout through the pain. We’re in Labour as a nation. We’re giving birth to the final geula/redemption - the ultimate world of connection and closeness.. Please Hashem let this be the final push and we’ll immediately have that blissful blessed relief that “we did it.” It could just be one more mincha you fit in or maariv you push yourself out of bed to say. The statement that “might” be lashon Hara you bite back. That could be the final contraction or push, the straw that finally tips the scales. We matter so much. We can do so much . Open your hearts and feel the pain. Don’t be afraid of your feelings. They are exactly where we are meant to be, exactly what we are meant to be feeling. Just use them to cling to Hashem to get through it. Say “Hashem I am so scared” “Hashem I am so sad” “Hashem how can you do this?” Allow yourself to scream and cry. It hurts so bad. Don’t suppress the feelings. Release them . All feelings are ok if you just let them out. I promise Hashem will accept every one bc He loves you for you and contain and handle all your big messed up feelings. He is bigger than you think. Just don’t suppress how you feel. Express it. Write. Sing. Talk. Share. Call someone on the phone. Listen. Dance. Do anything . Just feel it and get it out. We’re all in this together and we’re going to get through this- tears, blood, bruises, trauma, and all.

Whewwww I share a crazy transformational Yom Kippur experience, crazy CHIZUK (strengthening) on how awesome you are, and why learning rocks!!!! LISTEN to the END 😍😍‼️‼️
Getting ready!!! It’s been a while and I can definitely say there has been many recorded attempts but nothing has flowed… except this! Bh it feels good to put in the work writing out some sources on my favorite theme!!!! Thank you Hashem!
It’s day 33 of the Omer… and it’s a holiday! We celebrate the deeper side of Torah and celebrate out love and joy for other people, no matter how different we all are. That’s truly what Kavod/honor means- what rabbi Akiva’s students who all died for lacking this trait. Rabbi breitowitz gave an incredible talk about being careful about not getting overly zealous no matter how “religious” or not religious you are- to treat all people with the weightiness and respect they deserve for just being here! Because oh boy if you thing Hashem doesn’t love anyone a whole ton…. Uh oh you are in for a surprise. He sure does. No matter what. And I love EVERY single person in the world! (Obviously happy raina is writing this at the moment when the kids are occupied, in two minutes when they are all screaming at me and jumping on me I have a feeling my answer might change;)) hope not! Wow wow wow boy was I lucky to get a chance to interview Rebbetzin Tamar Taback!! Such a treat and honor for me because I ABSOLUTELY love the Torah she teaches! I feel so lucky to be learning at The Nexus School of Transformational Torah which is her online academy of Classes for women with an interactive community. So beautiful and so powerful. I’ve always loved learning Torah and Tamar teaches it in a way that is so authentically pure from the source (quite literally, each class has a listed source sheet of everything she quotes!!) and yet so relevant with personal development, relationships, (between ourselves, with others and with Gd,) and the ultimate reasons for WHY WE ARE HERE ANYWAYS and how to be out best selves!!!!!! She is literally helping women become their best selves through understanding the legit Pshat (text) of Torah and it’s so inspiring to me to see that in action through all I’ve learned personally and how it’s impacting women world wide!! Go Torah! Go Tamar! Enjoy this episode my Friend!!!! Xx Raina
I recorded this a month ago, but I think it’s message is prevalent always. No more being ashamed of feelings that are part of the human condition, of the life we live going through normal ups and downs. The jewish idea yerida letzorech lemaleh, decent for the sake of ascent. We’re going to have lows, we’re going to feel lonely, and that’s ok. I remember feeling so lonely when I recorded this I almost couldn’t even talk straight! Embracing the human condition. There’s nothing to fear about feeling lonely. We’re all together as one in times and we are alone in our unique experiences at times as well. Sending love and light specifically to YOU reading this. Love you lots :) XX RAINA
We’ve had an episode with this title, but it’s such a punch question that I ask myself so often, this time as I asked myself it, I recorded my answer:) enjoy! There’s been a lot in the pipeline Bh, it’s just all being funneled out in the right time (not my plan, All Gds plan, as only certain episodes are uploading correctly! Ie, I have two others I’ve recorded prior to this, and even this was from a while a go, and one as an interview with my favorite torah teacher on this planet, whattt! All of that coming soon, stay tuned and thanks for listening!!!!
Here in Israel I am trying to make the most of my time here by meeting with my old seminary Teachers. I was privileged to meet with Rabbi Jonathon Taub today and here’s my sum up and take aways:)

My view now at this point is numbness. I don’t know how to feel anymore. All I can do is plead for it to stop.
It’s still raw. All statements are my own personal thoughts and feelings, not everything maybe be true or explained in the best possible way. There are greater people out there that can explain these things better than I can. For example, when I said the part about the Jews crying in the desert over not wanting to go to israel when the spies came back with a bad report (parshas shlach) and I said “G-d said now I’ll give you something to cry about”, That is just my simple baseline not deep understanding. I know there are deeper answers to that story that showcase that Gd is not out to get us or ever going to do anything bad to us out of malice. He is perfect, and more loving than any thing we can imagine, we just simply cannot fathom it. But we can express our pain.

I had two goals for my 25th birthday this year. The first was to raise $25,000 for Ohrsom Sydney, for things like sending students to Israel, Shabbatonim in nature, extra copies of the torah books I wanted people to OWN, and so much more.
The second goal was to finish the book I have been working on for the past year about my personal breakthrough journey since May '21.
I decided to combine the two goals together because of how strongly I believe in the idea of tying ourselves and our abilities to a cause greater than ourselves. (Read my book for more on that:))
All donations go directly to Ohrsom Student, and any donations of $250 or higher will receive a copy of my book, which will be released in December IYH!!
As an added bonus if you give $1,000 you get a Chapter Dedication of the book, for $5,000 a front page dedication, and donations of $10,000 or more you can dedicate the entire book.
All donations go directly to Ohrsom Student, enabling jewish learning!
Avraham Avinu was blessed beyond measure because he cared about his fellow Jews beyond measure! Please partner with me and Ohrsom to ensure all our brothers and sisters have access to their own Jewish heritage- the committed Jewish life we all deserve to live. No amount is too small! Please help me reach my goal!

That is the title to Bracha Goetz’s personal memoir, a book that I read twice in one sitting and sobbed through most of it! I love advice from people who have lived longer lives than I have, and I especially like speaking with people who are doing things that I want to do one day as well! I am so honored and grateful to be sharing this episode. If you would like to buy any of Bracha’s books, you can order at https://www.goetzbookshop.com
This is the third episode of personal family interviews! I am feeling the interview chill at the moment, but solos will be back and Mesilat Yesharim (M.Y. Life) will be back soon! I think getting to know parents/spouses/family members help build a bigger picture and spread the inspirational love even more! Cheers to my inspirational hubby :) L’chayim! Enjoy his story, and make sure to listen til the end where he talks about me, the REAL reason I asked him to be on the show ;)
My father is my role model of someone who is dedicated, hard working, consistent, meticulous, humble and also the most loving, giving and caring father! I am so inspired by my fathers journey and story and hope you will be as well.
My Mom is my #1 inspiration and role model! When people tell me I’m just like my Mom it’s the biggest compliment they could give me. This episode only gives a tiny glimpse into who she is and why I think she is the coolest person in the world. If I had to sum it up, I would say it’s because she has clarity and follows through on it, all the while being true to herself and sincere, and CHANGING THE WORLD!!! Go Mom!
This one’s a biggie. Let me know if it resonates: rainabalsam@gmail.com There’s some Yom Kippur Prep, why I don’t post on Social Media, and lots more. As always, I hope this helps.
I recorded this episode a month ago and in the typical cycle I discuss at minute 15, haven’t posted it until now. I hope this episode helps you as much as it helps me:) Show Notes: https://www.accordingtohiswill.com/single-post/self-respect-confidence-and-worth-returning-to-your-greatest-self-is-through-vulnerability
Ever since I read the novel Yedidya my life has been shifted. “Amidst destruction there will always be a spark left in the ashes” The Month of AV, and WHAT is your life’s purpose? Some housekeeping background info- I don’t feel like I’ve fully gotten the concepts down pat so neutrally stated in the first chapter first paragraph of M.Y. back in episode 6, so I’ll be working on that in more detail - some in-depth CONTENT on: “to clarify and come to realize as truth what is his obligation in his world and to what he needs to direct his gaze and his aspiration in all that he toils all the days of his life” gosh that’s crazy, kk stay tuned, boy I sure am.

The first paragraph of the first chapter of Mesilat Yesharim is trippy bro. The RaMChaL tells us we have to figure out what we are doing here, what’s our specific purpose in why WE were out here in this world! I give you a couple tips on how to help figure it out. Enjoy!!! DO THE WORK! Figure out YOU!
This is a bit of a funky one, advance warning stated. We’re in the clouds a lot here, on a meditative spoken word journey in figuring out WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE WANT! Lots of great resources in this one, so make sure to writedownthemallandlistenandbuythebooksandreadthem. Trust me, it helps. Oh and the quote I never ended up quoting? “It’s not the person who knows the Torah, rather, it’s the Torah in the person that becomes his Torah” - Kotzker Rebbe
The Mesilas Yesharim, or Path of the Just is a book written in the 18th century by Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzato (RaMChaL). Can’t wait to delve right in!! ITS DELICIOUS
This episode has got the goods on my thoughts on living in Sydney so far, the highs, the lows and in between. Key mid life crisis inspiration to keep you awake at night wondering about at around 25 minutes in, and most importantly I discuss my take on the relationship between ourselves and ourselves, and ourselves and Gd. Lastly, a quick thought on Parshas Nasso, and some social media thoughts.
In this episode I discuss my connection and understandings of the Jewish month Sivan, the holiday of Shavuot, and the final character trait in the journey to our ultimate selves: Malchus. I finish by explaining why we made the move to Sydney despite all odds!
What is this?!? Wow. Ringing true with the why behind this show: our powerful individuality and personal stories, I open up the show by explaining why I wanted to start this podcast, what I plans for it to look like, and the story behind how I (finally) made it to this space.
