Hey designers, there are a tonne of things I have gone through the hard way, which I would like to share that hopefully you will learn from. Check out my medium for a summary of the pointers if you want to brush through the pointers. But the biggest takeaway: It takes time,be patient with yourself.I apologize for the background noise.
We are not all from the same background and environment,we don't all have the same approach and basic assumptions, especially about tech and digitization. In this episode we learn more about this.
We started with some mad vibes, but the unemployment thing kicked in and it's just been foggy.Decided to spill the beans and tell my truth about what's really going on.It's a me episode,I did it for me to be honest. Wonder if you've gone through the same,or are going through the same.Nonetheless,I hope you listen in and learn a thing or two.Note:-I lost the flow of the conversation at some point,my bad. ADPList is a fantastic mentoring platform, one of the best I've used.It required me to have questions and straight to the point whereas I'd prefer organic meandering and fruitful conversations. So that's why I had reservations. It's a fantastic platform,it's allowed me to talk to senior designers, something that I never thought would be possible.
New year, new vibes...listen to find out what we are taking into 2023 and what we are leaving behind.Self talk by shad helmstetter is the book I referred to somewhere during the episode.
Unscripted as usual, something I forgot to share in the episode,no one owes you anything and the insecurity of people having more than I do will pop up,yeah it eventually did and I'm dealing with that👍🏼... positively I might add.Check this out and more that I had to learn along the way and km dealing with in survival mode ie.taking it a day at a time,no goals,no dreams... don't feel sad though,we don't know what the future holds, right?

A collab featuring Phyllis Wanja,a mental health advocate and founder of Afyakili, drops some wisdom and shares tips on how we can handle mental issues we deal with day to day as designers. It is a hot one.
To be honest, I'm not fine sometimes, even when the world thinks I am. Sometimes, I feel like I am on top of the world, at other times, I feel like I am breathing under water. I recognize that I may lie to other people that I'm fine, but let me not lie to myself. Self awareness, self forgiveness, patience and empathy are things gifts we need to exercise by ourselves and for ourselves before we extend the same to others.
In this episode, I'll be sharing my personal mental struggles and how I'm taking it a step a time.
I also want to remind you that you are not alone, we are in this together. Incase you want to talk, hit me up at tifftawarar@gmail.com.
N:B: Whatever I share or advice does not constitute as professional medical advice, but my point of view on matters. Incase you need help, contact your nearest medical facility on how to proceed.
I wish you peace of mind, serenity, courage and positive mental health growth. Keep working on your inner you and become the designer this world needs.
And know that you are so worth it boo. Always...
Are you high? Are you whole? Are you good enough? Yes,Yes and Yes!
This episode will try and navigate our mental health as designers.
Some pointers: Allow yourself to feel and move on, Know you are worthy, Stay in your lane, Take a beep then come back ,Rest, Count your blessings and keep it 💯 with yourself.
Love yourself more, you deserve to treasure amazing people you know, and guess what, you are one of those amazing people❣️
Incase you want to holla, it's at tifftawarar@gmail.com.
