Psalm 22 is a prophetic Psalm, but it is also a Psalm of when David was going throughsomething that made him feel as though his world was falling apart. Joehighlighted how we see the faithfulness of God and that God has given us amplereason to place our hope in Him. Joe closed with a challenge to follow throughon what has been taught at Cultivate.

Firstly, we are intimately known byGod and, secondly, the all-present God is always with us. Joe takes the class through an overview of the entirety of thebook of Ecclesiastes, noting how the things of this world have no value to usfrom an eternal perspective. Joe ends the message reflecting on the book’sfinal message that the only thing that has eternal value is relationship withGod.

Julie opened the class identifying that, as believersin Jesus Christ, we need to know ourselves to know God. She helped answer a fewquestions: What are emotions? What is an unhealthy response to our emotions? Whatshapes how we cope with our emotions? Finally, using the picture of indicator lightson a dashboard, Julie gave us tools and encouragement in how to manage andnavigate our emotions. At the end of the class, Julie provided us with this Emotional Health Worksheet, containing journal questions to consider and some recommended reading.

Jordan connected therepentance of David in Psalm 51 to the sin of David in 2 Samuel 11-12. Jordan taughtverse-by-verse through Psalm 51 focusing on how David’s posture and plea beforethe Lord is a Biblical example of true repentance. Jordan taught verse-by-verse through Romans 5:1-5 and highlighted five things that Paul connects our hope to in the text. Firstly, Paul connects our hope to our justification; we have been forgiven and accepted by God. Secondly, our hope is connected to the glory of God in that he will complete His work in us! Thirdly, Paul connects our hope to our sufferings whereby we can be confident that God is doing good things in us and for us. Then Paul says our hope will never put us to shame and, finally, he connects our hope to the Holy Spirit who lives inside of us.

In Psalms 86, Brett took us through the different relationships David had with God and how we can have the same today. He focused on how we must look to and reach out to a merciful compassionate God through prayer in our hopeless situations.

It is our desire to see our Students grow in theirrelationship with Jesus during and outside the Cultivate DiscipleshipProgramme! This summer our theme is Everlasting Hope, sourced from Romans 5:1-5and Psalm 42:5. We will be focusing on how, as believers, it is vital to placeour hope in the sure, living, and everlasting God alone.
Hope is having a confident expectation of somethinggood. As believers, we often place our hope in all the wrong places:experiences, relationships, possessions, dreams and aspirations. Over thesummer, we will look at how misplaced hope ends in disappointment and unmetexpectations, as all things suffer from a degree of brokenness and were notcreated to be the source of our hope. Main Session 04 from our FROM GLORY TO GLORY: Winter Retreat 22! Josh Fricke exhorted us from Hebrews 4 that today is the day! We must boldly enter into holiest place, into His presence, for He loves us dearly. In this session, Josh highlighted a lesson from the past, a series of warnings and invitations, challenging us to protect our hearts from becoming hardened and relaxing into our own indifference.

The Old Covenant was given to Moses directly from God and, although it was holy, good, and righteous, we could not keep it and it could not save us. But the New Covenant promises life abundant, not through our own doing, but fully by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. As believers, our position under the New Covenant is permanent and unwavering as it was bought by the precious blood of Jesus Christ; offered to us daily as a gift. Over the Winter Retreat, we focused on how the spiritual glory of the New Covenant offers supernatural power to radically transform our lives through the power of Jesus Christ and relationship with Him.

Desney Greybe focused on our theme verse, highlighting that our nature and character is in direct conflict with God, thus He wants to transform us so that we can enjoy the fullness of relationship with Him! Because God is in the business of transforming us to be more like Him everyday, we must delight ourselves in the Lord and surrender to His transforming work in our lives.

Pastor Jake Wilmoth explored the purpose of the law from Galatians 3 and identified four things that the law reveals: (1) God has a standard, (2) we can't reach the standard, (3) there are consequences to missing the mark and (4) there is a substitution to take our place. The purpose of the law was to show us we need Jesus!

Main Session 05 from our FIRST LOVED: Winter Retreat 21'! Pastor Jordan Walsh closed out the retreat looking the story of God's redemptive and enduring love for His people through the lens of the prophet Hosea. Even in our unfaithfulness and wandering to other things, God loves us still and has purchased us with His precious blood! This love doesn’t make sense, but the love God has reasons of its own that surpass what we may think love is. The powerful truth is that He loved us first!

He looked at how a post-crucification Peter felt distant and unsure on where he stood with Jesus, focusing on Jesus' invitation to "Come be with Me" surpassed Peter's feelings of distance.
