What Is Channelling? (And How Reiki Helps)Geneva begins by sharing how she experiences channelling:

For her, channelling means “connecting to source,” which includes beings of light like angels, guides, spiritual mentors, Ascended Masters, and the consciousness of “the all that is”. This is “the Team” that speaks in the channelled messages.

She explains that mediumship is about connecting to loved ones who have passed away, while channelling is about connecting to source, the divine, or higher consciousness.

Because she has practiced Reiki for many years, Reiki opened her energy channel and sensitivity. The energy she feels is rich with information. Over time, she learned to decode it.

For many years, Geneva channelled mostly through writing with her Team to achieve the greatest clarity in the messages. Recently, she skipped the writing part and now delivers messages directly, creating a more natural dialogue and faster process for clients and students.

The Vertigo that Changed EverythingGeneva shares a deeply personal story of how her channel opened further after an intense health experience. After a round of enthusiastic gardening, she developed severe vertigo.

Vertigo made it difficult to write by hand or type, as every movement caused more dizziness. It was also an unexpected gift of stillness and mindfulness, creating an even deeper spiritual connection.

Unable to write comfortably, she began speaking into her phone and noticed clear guidance coming through. This was the beginning of speaking channelling out loud.

Alongside the physical symptoms, the vertigo initiated intensive healing around people-pleasing and learning to be comfortable with others' discomfort. It was fast training in alignment with her soul, spiritual honesty, and acting only on what is truly aligned.

From her divine team’s perspective, the vertigo became an elegant way to train her to stop over-fixing and over-helping, let others have their own discomfort and growth, and ask for more help when she physically cannot do everything herself.

How Geneva Channels: Safety, Reiki, and ProcessBefore she begins channelling, Geneva explains her approach, which may help reassure anyone who is curious or cautious about this kind of work:

She only connects to the highest energy. Reiki acts as a steady, pure, unchanging source of high vibration frequency.

She brings in Reiki symbols and energy, sets the intention for clarity, benefit, and safety for all, and anchors into a column of light from an infinite source through the body into the earth.

She is clear that the beings she connects with are loving, kind, and safe. Geneva is simply an interpreter of spiritual communication, so things can be lost in translation. She does not want anyone to blindly believe something just because it’s channelled. You are always your own spiritual authority. Take what resonates and gently set aside what doesn’t.

For Geneva, channelling feels like she “takes a seat in the auditorium” of her own mind. She sits back as an observer while the message speaks through her voice.

It feels similar to being a live translator. Concepts arrive, then turn into words. Sometimes the concepts are surprising or different from how she would answer, which is definitely a fascinating experience.

Channelled Teaching: What Does a Spiritual Seeker Need to Know?Angela asks the central question:

“What is the most important information for a spiritual seeker to know?”

The channelled answer acknowledges that the response is multi‑layered and depends on where someone is on their journey—whether just beginning or decades in. Still, the message offers key stages of spiritual development that many seekers encounter.

Compassion and Empathy: Outward First, Then InwardThe channelled guidance highlights compassion as a core, advanced lesson. Early on, seekers learn to step out of purely egoic self-reference, recognize that others exist, and honour the uniqueness of each person’s experience and pain. Many listeners will likely have already mastered deep empathy for others and sensitivity to the pain of the collective.

For these souls, the next level is returning that same depth of compassion and empathy to the self, the inner child, and the parts inside that are struggling.

A key message the Team wants you to know is that:

You are one of the beings you are here to hold compassion for.

The Observer: Who Is Doing the Viewing? The message invites seekers to explore a subtle, profound question:

If you can view another person…
If you can view yourself…
Even view different parts within yourself…
Who is the one doing the viewing?

This “observer” is closer to the perspective of the beings who are speaking. It can see the inner complexity of others, notice your own inner world, and also hold a third perspective beyond both.

This leads to a sense of non-separation between you and others, and to the capacity to see you and the other as one interconnected field, reciprocal and exchanging information and energy.

Even if two people never meet physically, they can still be on the same frequency, communicate in dreams or subtle realms, and share a kind of telepathic dialogue of understanding.

The World Is ConsciousAs you evolve as a seeker, another realization arises: The physical world is conscious; the matter you sit on, the atoms in every object, are connected to a universal field of information and light and are vibratory and responsive.

Once this is integrated, the next step is to bring that awareness into your daily actions, start creating from that source-aligned place, let go of limiting beliefs and self-concept, and act from what you know in your soul to be true and aligned.

You Can Never Be Off Your PathOne of the most comforting parts of the message is this:

You have never lost your way.
You can never be off your path.
Wherever you are, that is the path.

Join us as we chat about the remarkable skill of reframing in this podcast episode. Angela and Geneva share how they use reframing to improve their outlook and mental health.

Listen here!

We also use reframing in Reiki sessions. It is a key skill for intention setting, the very first step of our Reiki practice. The universal life force energy of Reiki is aligned with the most loving and positive frequency you can imagine. When we set that positive intention, everything flows with ease, and reframing is a big part of that.

Resources Mentioned in this EpisodeThe Work by Byron KatieThis is a classic reframing tool that can help you gently explore your thoughts, The Work by Byron Katie. In just four introspective questions and the key turnarounds, you get an opportunity to dismantle thoughts that might be harmful and explore other ways of viewing a situation.

Cognitive Behavioural TherapyThis therapy method helps you understand some thinking errors that might be creating more stress in your life. After exploring where your mindset might be stuck, you and your cognitive behavioural therapist gently look at the kind intent below the thought and work towards a truer, positive thought.

Reiki Sessions!Yes! We are partial to Reiki sessions here as a support for reframing. But on a larger level, we actively use intentions as the focus for each Session. In doing this, we chat about where you are and then flip that inside out to get to your intention.

The results are quite amazing. The combination of that intention, how you want to feel, and Reiki are profound and can give you a focus for your self-care work in between sessions. Book a session in our Jane app.

Louise HayWe adore the work of Louise Hay. Her pioneering book "You Can Heal Your Life" is pretty much a master class in reframing. She explores the mind-body connection and has a handy list of affirmations to support not only your outlook but also your wellbeing on many levels.

Your Best Friend!Never underestimate the power of friends to help you see another perspective on a situation. Because they love you and know a bit of your history, they can see things from a different way. This loving perspective is invaluable for your overall well-being. You can playfully examine what they say and see if it works for you.

Much like borrowing their jean jacket, you can 'try on' their idea and see if it fits. It's okay if it doesn't. But in that gentle exploration of their ideas, it may encourage you to see things from a new angle and even come up with something altogether new!

Further Reading on Reframing as a SuperpowerHere are a few titles that might spark something for you.

The Gift by Dr. Edith EgerDr. Eger is an absolutely amazing human. A psychologist and a holocaust survivor, she has hard-won experience of the protective benefits of a positive outlook.

Her book 'The Gift" is genuinely touching in how this kind woman has created a framework for freeing your mind. Often positive psychology can be dismissed in importance because the proponents 'haven't really struggled'.

But in this case, Dr. Eger shows examples from her life and her work with others, how seeing things from the positive can completely shift the direction of a person's life, even in the harshest and cruellest of situations.

It is awe-inspiring, and a light approach to reframing that is maybe the best book you can read.

The Mindful Body by Ellen LangerThis book is absolutely packed with studies on how the mind-body influences health. Not only is it the result of nearly 50 years of research by Dr. Langer, but she also gives you plenty of ideas on how you can loosen up your thinking.

The power of going from mindless to mindful is shown over and over again in this illuminating book, The Mindful Body.

Meditations to help get into a Reframing mindset:Try these meditations to help activate your energy and soften into a place where reframing is much easier.

Okay, you know yourself right? You know what you need, what makes you feel good, what resets your system. And yet, you somehow do everything else but.

Endless hours on the phone or giving to others, but not a second of real nourishing care. If this sounds like you, know that you are not alone! In this episode, Kim Star and Geneva Robins cover why this resistance happens and share some gentle shame-free ways of giving yourself some space to recharge your batteries.

Why self-care mattersIt seems strange, doesn’t it, that sometimes the biggest hurdle to self-care is not anything anyone else is saying to us, but that nagging voice in our head saying ‘never enough’. We can get locked into endless hours of care for others, but find it oh so difficult to care for ourselves.

Don’t get me wrong, caring for others is immensely rewarding and can even be a valuable form of recharge too. It is more about the balance between the two and the secret shame that we aren’t as worthy of care as others.

If this sounds familiar, one of the quickest ways out is to acknowledge how important you are to other people. The more people who depend on you, especially if it is for their survival, the more imperative it is that you care for yourself.

It is simply not optional.

You have to take good care of yourself, because what happens to them if you go down? Nothing good, that’s for sure.

For natural carers, taking care of yourself is another way of taking care of your people. That can be that little encouraging nudge to spend that slice of time truly restoring yourself.

Think of self-care as devotional service.

Get out of the time trapWhat I mean by that is often self-care seems like an onerous investment, a heavy and giant task on an already full plate. If your self-care seems like a heavy burden rather than a delight, try a new approach — make it tiny!

Instead of looking for hours, look for minutes. Do a small stretch, read one page, journal for 1 minute, take a second to ground, or look at a tree.

Then sprinkle those moments throughout your day. Of course having more time is really delightful and you absolutely need that too when you can. But often the time factor prevents us from starting. If we can start small and often, then more of these moments happen and more recharge occurs.

I find if I reduce what ‘counts’ as enough care to that absolute bare minimum then I’m way more likely to begin. I think the hardest part is always starting. So cheer for the tiny beginnings.

Be GentleAs Kim says, if it feels like tension it’s probably not Reiki. The same goes for self care. If you are rushed or pushing yourself, try a gentle approach.

Think about what you would do to nurture a small child or a beloved pet. You’d probably get outside in some fresh air, prepare nourishing food, and create space for cuddles, play and rest. Try that simple and loving approach for your own self.

Book a Reiki SessionIf you need a reset for your self-care, try a Reiki Session. It is a phenomenal way to recharge and treat yourself to some supportive energy.

Schedule a session with our Jane app booking system.

You are beloved! You are worthy of nurturing, play, rest, and gentle care.

We can meet you at your home for Reiki! In this podcast episode, Tania Brightman and Geneva Robins chat about the benefits of mobile Reiki sessions and the logistics of receiving Reiki at home, in a hospital, or in a hospice setting.

What is a mobile Reiki session like?Mobile Reiki sessions are very similar to our in-person Reiki sessions at our centre in Calgary; the only difference is that we go to you. We chat for a bit about your health history and emotional well-being, and then set an intention for your session. You are fully clothed and just in a space where you can be as relaxed as you can. The Reiki session is usually gentle touch, but we can adapt to your needs and even do the entire session without touch at all. We leave the last 10 to 15 minutes of the 90-minute session to share experiences, a beautiful and grounding close to the session.

You can be sitting, reclined, lying down, or even moving from one position to another; the main thing is that you are comfortable. If you are in a busier setting like a hospital, we can adapt so the doctors and nurses can do their job, either pausing or returning later depending on the needs of the time. It's one of the amazing things about Reiki; all those noises and interruptions seem not to disturb the energy, and we just flow with it all.

Does Reiki really work?Yes! Well, obviously, we think so, based on our years of working with people with Reiki. More and more research is being conducted that supports what we have seen with our own eyes.

One of the recent studies we mention in the podcast (Hanley et al., 2025) found that Reiki worked to reduce knee pain in osteoarthritis patients by over 30%. They also found that when people received a 'fake Reiki' session, or Feiki, they had little to no change in their pain. This means that Reiki has an effect beyond the placebo; it doesn't matter if people believe in it or not, it works! Also, people in the Reiki group continued to see improvements in their symptoms up to 2 months after the study ended. Very cool!

Pain reduction is something we see quite often in our clients, as well as improved mood, focus, and a deep sense of well-being. For some people, it helps with reducing trauma symptoms and improving sleep, too. Of course, your situation and experience is likely to be different!

Reiki is gentle and non-invasive and a great compliment to your existing therapies.

Reiki in Cancer CareTania also shares her experience of volunteering Reiki sessions at Wellspring, a cancer support centre that offers programs to assist cancer patients and their caregivers. Through Wellspring, you can receive two free Reiki sessions if you are living with any kind of cancer diagnosis or supporting someone who is in cancer care. Definitely worth checking out!

How do I arrange for a Mobile Reiki session? If a mobile Reiki Session sounds like a good option for you, please reach out to us at info@lunaholistic.com. Within Calgary, the fee for a 90-minute mobile Reiki session is $180, including GST and travel costs. We serve the Calgary area, but we can possibly travel further on a case-by-case basis.

If you'd like to chat with someone about getting a mobile Reiki session, please call and leave a message at 403-284-0176. We'll get back to you as soon as we can, usually within 48 hours.

Working to heal your inner child? In this podcast episode, Angela Hoogeveen and Geneva Robins chat about their trippy experiences using Reiki for inner child work.

How can Reiki work on the Past?Reiki is an energy that is beyond time and space. What does that mean? Well, it's quantum mechanical physics stuff. Reiki is a spiritual technology, a method, that helps us tap into the energy that exists beyond the subatomic, in the universal field that unites all matter. In this quantum mechanical realm, time and space fall away. All you are left with is pure consciousness and the energy we call Reiki.

Reiki is outside of time, and it is also present in each 'now' moment. Everything that has ever happened, happened in the present 'now' moment. The present moment is how we access the past. Reiki connects the past and present, creating a bridge so we can send energy to our past selves as though we were right there with them. It doesn't change the events, but it does send the love, comfort, and care we so desperately needed.

Reiki can be sent to any moment in your past, including even past lives! Check out our other podcast on Past Life Healing. It's seriously cool work!

What happens when you send Reiki to your Inner Child? You or the practitioner set your intention to send Reiki to your inner child. This intention can be something like unconditional love, comfort, peace, or another healing word. Then, similar to a distance Reiki session, the energy of your intention is held and sent to your inner child self.

When you do this as a self-healing, you can also add an extra integration piece at the end where you hug yourself physically and do Reiki self-healing on your now whole-self. You can also imagine chatting with your past self, providing comfort and support, and also asking them directly what they want for their intention.

The results from this work often go very deep and can be hard to put into words. Overall, the energy of care and kindness flows into the fabric of your life. We have seen improved mood and an increase in self-love and inner kind regard. Reiki for the Inner Child helps you care for the tender parts and helps bring comfort on many levels.

To book a Reiki session, go to our Jane App schedule and pick a time, either in-person or virtual, that works for you. All of our Reiki Masters are excellent at helping you with your Inner Child work.

Are you feeling sad and happy at the same time? You are not alone. In this podcast episode, Angela Hoogeveen and Geneva Robins chat about how you can create space and permission to feel all the complexity of your life.

We're living in a turbulent world that brings a range of emotions. Everything you are feeling is okay. Of course, you feel everything strongly; that is very normal for a sensitive soul like you. What if you create a space of permission to feel what you are honestly experiencing? What could open up for you if you allow two things to be true at once?

Book Recommendation! How is it possible to feel joy and grief at the same time? What about groundedness and excitement? The answer may be right inside your brain!

Jill Bolte Taylor's book "Whole Brain Living: The Anatomy Of Choice And The Four Characters That Drive Our Life" is a fascinating discussion of how different parts of the brain 'think' and have very different experiences of the same situation.

If you’ve ever struggled to keep up with your self-care, this podcast is for you. Explore how to make self-kindness simple, sustainable, and genuinely nourishing—one tiny step at a time.

Start Small, Stay Kind: The Art of Gentle Self-CareLet’s be honest: sometimes self-care sounds like another item on the ever-growing to-do list. But what if you let yourself off the hook? What if you started so small that it felt almost effortless? Imagine celebrating putting on your shoes—never mind running the marathon.

That’s the spirit I want you to bring to your self-care practice. It’s not about grand gestures or perfect routines. It’s about noticing the little things, and showing yourself a bit of kindness, even (especially!) when you’re feeling stuck.

Want some help? We've all been there—beyond exhausted. If you'd like help with an energetic reboot, book a session now through the Jane app or look through our courses and sessions to learn more about how we can help you reactivate your self-care routines

Your Life Runs on TracksThink about your everyday routines. You probably sleep on the same side of the bed, drink your coffee the same way, and set up your day with familiar little rituals. Our bodies and minds move in these well-worn tracks, and there’s comfort in that. But what happens when there’s friction—when the path isn’t clear?

Imagine if, every night, you had to move all your furniture just to get into bed. Suddenly, bedtime becomes a Herculean task. That’s what it’s like when you load up your self-care practice with obstacles, or tell yourself you have to “make up” for lost time by doubling your efforts. That’s a recipe for shame and exhaustion, not healing.

Celebrate the StartHere’s a radical idea: reward yourself just for starting. Give yourself a metaphorical sticker for beginning your meditation, not for reaching some blissful state. Take the pressure off. The hardest part of any practice is showing up, so let that be your win.

If you haven’t worked out in a week, you don’t need to punish yourself with an extra-long gym session. Just put on your sneakers. Just drive to the gym. Let that be enough. Friction is the enemy, so design your routines to be as downhill as possible. Pack your gym bag and leave it in the car. Create a meditation nook that’s inviting, not cluttered.

Remove the ResistanceIf your meditation cushion is buried under laundry, you’re not going to use it. That’s not a failure—it’s just a sign to make your practice easier. Be curious, not judgmental. Didn’t meditate today? Instead of beating yourself up, ask: “What tiny shift could help tomorrow?” Maybe you meditate lying down instead of sitting. Maybe you wait until the kids are asleep. Maybe your self-care looks like two mindful sips of tea, or doodling on a scrap of paper.

Plug Yourself InWe all remember to charge our phones. What if you used plugging in your device as a cue to check in with yourself? What would recharge you right now? Is it a moment with your favourite crystal, a mindful walk, or a page of a beloved book? Layer these micro-moments throughout your day. Change your sheets. Light a candle. Sip something warm. Each act of care, no matter how small, builds a resilient safety net for when life gets messy.

Weave Self-Care Into Everyday LifeDon’t wait for perfect circumstances to practice self-care. Seize the in-between moments: a red light, a line at the store, five quiet minutes during naptime. Ground yourself when chaos erupts because then your calm helps those around you, too. Notice beauty in the ordinary: sunlight on the wall, birds outside your window, the changing moon. Let these be invitations to return to yourself.

The Power Is in ReturningYou will fall away from your practice. That’s not failure, that’s life. The magic is in returning, gently, again and again. Every time you come back, you strengthen your resilience. Every slip reminds you what truly matters.

So, start small. Remove the friction. Celebrate every return. Give yourself more grace than you think you need. You’re doing more than you realize, and it all counts. Keep weaving those moments of care into your days—you’ve got this.

Resources for Self-Kindness:* The Secret Art of Happiness: Change Your Life with the Reiki Ideals by Geneva Robins - a book with a whole chapter on kindness! * Kindness Meditation - a gentle meditation to expand all forms of kindness * Saying No - a blog post on how kind it is to say a beautiful NO * Reiki Sessions - a big help on getting compassionate support and energy

How do you activate Self-kindness?Try Shifting your Inner Talk to NeutralIf you've been in a highly self-critical mode for a while, it can be difficult to shift immediately to kind inner talk. One method that can help is to shift to a neutral statement that you already believe.

Try something like "I am a human being."

Then try "All humans are worthy of kindness."

Before going to "Therefore, I am worthy of kindness because I am a human being."

By shifting into a neutral statement in this way, you activate a gentle space inside that just sidesteps the fight the inner critic puts up when you first try to talk to yourself kindly. You just go around the arguments with a gentle and patient logic.

Sometimes you can flip the statements of the inner critic into their exact opposites to create a new inner dialogue. You can take "You're never good enough" and turn it into "I'm always myself, and who I am is enough."

Be Physically Kind and Nurturing to YourselfSometimes words are not enough. Tiny acts of self-care can go a long way to rebalancing your nervous system. Even something as simple as putting on a cozy sweater or adjusting your body so you're more comfortable can be a sign to your inner self that you are now living your life in a new, self-kind way. These tiny actions prove to your inner child that you will actually take care of yourself.

Practicing and Skill-building for Self-kind TalkAlmost anything we do is a skill that can be practiced. Gently remind yourself that you are practicing this new skill of self-kindness. Start where you're at and be okay with your progress and slips. It is all a new space, gradually filling with grace as your skills grow.

We learn how to be kind to ourselves from our family and other carers. But if they don't have those skills of emotional regulation, soothing, and reframing thoughts, then they can't teach you.

So now, as an adult, you may be learning kind self-talk skills that you wished you had learned as a child. Be gentle with your progress. It's almost like learning a new language. So be patient and keep practicing even through the mistakes and wobbly first attempts at a new way of relating to yourself.

Go to People who are Professionally Kind!If you've been surrounded by unkind people and have absorbed their cruel inner talk, it is incredibly helpful to get help from professionals trained who are to hold a compassionate space for you.

Therapy, Reiki, Meditation, Yoga, and other allied health practitioners have spent years and even decades practicing gentle and kind methods that can help you grow your inner kindness.

If in doubt, reach out!

Geneva will guide you through a meditation practice and provide clarity and guidance on how you can better align with all the good coming in. For kind, empathic people like you, it is even more important that you receive what you need so you can get to work helping the world.

Manifesting isn't selfish; it is for everyone. When your life gets better, it adds to the world and makes more space and opportunities for what is kind and meaningful. In our group, we hold space for everyone's manifestation so we can co-create a beautiful reality. We'll also hold a moment at the end to hold a vision of a kind energy for the world.

How does Manifestation work? The first place to start is really about shifting your understanding of the material world itself. All of the Universe and every physical object is fundamentally made of a frequency and a thought. When you go inside an atom, if you had the ability to look, the particles that make up every physical thing are both physical and a wave of energy. It's less like looking at a little rubber ball and more like looking through a trippy lens where it could be anywhere within a cloud of possibilities.

That quantum nature of reality is really hard to understand. It's sort of mind-bending when you try to study it. Even quantum physicists joke that things get weird down there. And that if you think you finally have it all figured out, you're probably wrong.

One fairly consistent idea is the understanding that the foundation of all matter is more like a thought than a thing.

The Universe is ConsciousnessSo everything we interact with, touch and experience is made of a field of energy. But that energy isn't passive; it is conscious and reacting to even our simplest thoughts. It affects the outcome of physics experiments, and it is ultimately how manifestation works.

You can connect to the Universal Consciousness with your own consciousness. It is a frequency of feeling and energy that is in harmony with the field of awareness that creates all matter. Simply, it is love, joy, and creative potential.

When you are in alignment with that Source Energy, you only need to project an image of what you want to manifest, and it begins taking shape. How the physical world brings the experience to you is usually not like magic, where it all suddenly appears from thin air, but uses the things, people and other energies that already exist and brings them together.

Stay in the FrequencyThe more you are aware of the energy or feeling of how it will feel when you have the abundance, health, or great relationship, the easier it is for the Universe to guide you. Whatever it is that you want, it has an energy to it. And when you have what you want, you'll have a very specific feeling.

Usually, that feeling is one of joy, exhilaration, safety, security, expansion, love, or connection. It feels good.

It turns out that the Universe also feels that way about what you want to manifest. Because the Universe is a field of awareness, whatever you experience, it also gets to experience. When you expand, it expands. The basis of the Universe is loving and creative. It wants greater harmony in the world, just like you do.

When you align with the feeling frequency of your manifestation, even briefly, it sends out a ripple into the foundation of the Universe itself. The more you can stay in that frequency and make choices from that energy, the more you will change matter and the more likely it will be that what you want starts flowing to you.

Reiki helps with ManifestingReiki is a spiritual technology that aligns with the frequencies of the Universe and then flows an energy to the person that is a perfect match to their intention. The beautiful thing about it is that Reiki teaches you about surrender and trust. Two key ingredients to the process of manifesting.

When you are in a Reiki session, you can set an intention that is in harmony with what you want to manifest. The energy that flows in the session and out through the Universe is one of complete success and complete surrender. Sometimes it isn't easy to see our own success, so when you receive a session from someone else, they can hold space for the energy to become a stable field within you and around you.

The other beautiful thing is that Reiki is the energy of Universal Love, so it won't ever manifest something that is in any way negative for you or others. It will only create soulful experiences that enhance your journey on earth.

If you want a more immersive experience, try our Creative Manifesting Session for a 2.5-hour one-on-one meditation experience and Reiki session to help you fine-tune your manifesting muscles.

Do you love the fall or dread it? A fan of clipboards, colour coding, and to-do lists? Or would you rather stay in the freedom of flip-flops and summertime hammocks all year round? Fall is here, bringing crisp weather and a grounding energy to our days. In this episode, Tania Brightman and Geneva Robins chat about returning to routines and the energetic shifts this season can bring to your spiritual life.

Returning to Self-care SchedulesThe change in the seasons can bring a massive shift in the energy and tempo of our lives. Sometimes this can have a rushing and unsettling quality to it as you go from the slow flow of summer to a flurry of managing new schedules and time demands.

Within this shift of energy, you can also establish a steady structure that allows you to return to regular sleep and meal schedules, bringing a nourishing frequency to your days. The gift of this season, even if you're now a fan of chilly weather, is that in the change of one routine pattern to another, you get an opportunity to craft your routines to bring a different kind of balance.

This is an excellent time to start a new habit or routine that helps you thrive. We're fans of meditation here, as it can totally shift your mindset in only a few minutes. But really, it can be anything that helps you feel grounded and happy.

Try this Grounding Meditation to help settle your energy. Or read the book Beyond Anxiety by Martha Beck to learn tools you can put in your routine to calm the anxiousness that change can create.

The Magic of Being in the InbetweenThe shift of seasons creates a magical moment where we are in between two states of living. That mid-point moment of the equinox is a time when it can be remarkably easy to manifest new experiences. Anytime we are in limbo, we are actually in a space of pure creative potential. When everything is in flux, it is all moving and free.

Energy is being mobilized right now, and we can use that powerful cycle in nature to create a wave of positive change in our lives and in the world. Try the Manifesting Miracles Meditation to access the law of attraction energy that helps bring miracles into your life.

Expand your Learning ModeThe fall season also brings a pull to learning. Even if it has been many years since you've been in a classroom, the benefits of lifelong learning are profound. This season is a prime time to put your thinking cap on and learn something new that excites you. Even a few hours on Wikipedia can get you started learning and finding things that might interest you.

You can also learn Reiki here at LunaHolistic if you are interested in learning more about self-healing and meditation. Check out our Level I course, which helps you build a solid self-care routine. Courses start seasonally, so check out our Upcoming Courses page to see when the next one is happening.

Great Spiritual and Self-Development Authors:I'm going to start off with authors that I adore in no particular order because they're all amazing. You could easily pick one of those books, read it, and find something useful.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama—I probably have the most books of his. One of my favourites is "An Open Heart." It is from a lecture he gave in New York. He can get very deep and philosophical, so if you want to dive deep into Buddhism and our connection with all things and understanding compassion, that’s where I’d go.

Deepak Chopra is fantastic, with so many of his books being wonderful. Wayne Dyer as well, and Louise Hay—what can I say? We use Louise Hay's "You Can Heal Your Life" as part of our courses here at LunaHolistic. That book is probably the one I reference the most. All of her books are really great, and she has a lot to say on gratitude, which is fantastic for our mental and spiritual well-being.

Thich Nhat Hanh was a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, and he has many beautifully written, amazing books on mindfulness. If you're interested in mindfulness and slowing your mind down, creating some peace and calm, no matter the circumstances, all of Thich Nhat Hanh's books are wonderful. He lived to be 95, and there are also some great resources on the Plum Village YouTube channel, as well as an app with some of his recorded lectures and meditations.

Dean Radin is a science researcher who explores spirituality and consciousness, intuition, and how our human consciousness can interact with random number generators throughout the world. It's really cool from the science-meets-spirituality perspective, so if you want to dig into some fairly mind-blowing real science about how spirituality works, that is a great resource as well.

Must-Read Books on Spirituality and Self-Help"Your Brain on Art: How the Arts Transform Us" written by Susan Magsamen and Ivy Ross. It's a really cool book about how interacting with art in any form—music, drawing, painting, sculpting, anything creative at all—can benefit us. You get the best effect by making things yourself, but you also get a huge boost to your brain in all kinds of really cool brain science ways that significantly increase your resilience and decrease your anxiety.

Creativity has a big role in decreasing anxiety and increasing life satisfaction, bringing a sense of calm. It doesn’t matter if you’re good at it; that’s the beautiful thing. If we can set aside our inner critic, we can make, share, and enjoy all the benefits of being artistic. You can also just observe other people's art.

For example, going to watch live music, visiting an art gallery, or connecting with other creators all provide great benefits. Even watching YouTube videos about people making things is a fantastic way to engage with creativity.

If you feel like you're not an artist and you don’t want to create, you can still be a patron of the arts and receive a huge benefit to your brain. Creativity is a powerful mechanism for transforming your life, getting perspective on your feelings and expressing yourself. "Your Brain on Art" is interesting because it approaches things from a scientific perspective, explaining what's actually happening in our brains when we're engaging with art.

"Life in 5 Senses" by Gretchen Rubin. In this book, the author visited an art gallery every day for a year, focusing on one of the senses each time. It’s a fascinating read about her personal journey through mindfulness and connection with art in a place she enjoys, all while being attuned to her senses. It ties in art and mindfulness, which are huge parts of spirituality.

"Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents: How to Heal from Distant, Rejecting, or Self-Involved Parents" by Lindsay C. Gibson. To dig into the deeper parts of ourselves, I recommend this author and her very clear perspective on dealing with dysfunctional and emotionally immature people. This book is especially beneficial if you have narcissists in your family, but it’s relevant for any relationship dynamic. It’s aimed at children of emotionally immature parents, but anyone can gain insight from it.

There’s also "Self-Care for Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents," which focuses on honouring your emotions, nurturing yourself, and living with confidence, also by Lindsay C. Gibson. These are fantastic books filled with valuable information about narcissism from various perspectives.

What I appreciate about Gibson's work is its focus on emotionally immature behaviour and how to spot it, cope with it, and understand its impact on you. It’s essential for those who didn’t have parents who could teach the necessary skills for coping, regulating, and grounding.

I think everybody should read those two books because it’s surprising how many emotionally immature people you might encounter, even outside your family—important insights for navigating friendships, coworkers, bosses, or neighbours whose behaviour leaves you puzzled.

"The Art of Possibility: Transforming Professional and Personal Life" by Rosamund Stone Zander and Benjamin Zander.Benjamin Zander, the conductor of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, has a fantastic TED Talk about classical music. He's quite a character, and this book is a really great read. It provides a way of bringing forth people's creativity. This book is about leading people so that they are in their most creative, expressive, innovative, and inventive selves.

This is important if you're trying to solve big problems or figure things out in any capacity, whether in a workplace setting or even within families, as we're leaders in our families and communities.

"The Gift: 14 Lessons to Save Your Life" by Dr. Edith Eger.Shifting gears to something very deep and profound, we have The Gift. Dr Eger is a psychologist, a Holocaust survivor, and well into her nineties, with a truly transformational message. If you're struggling and seeking a new perspective, this book is a brilliant guide to the power you have to transform your outlook on life.

Her perspective focuses on 14 different ways of reframing experiences in a positive and nurturing manner while honouring the harms that may have happened to you. One of her profound sayings is "There's no forgiveness without rage", so you must experience, express, and allow the energy to move through without it keeping you stuck.

It addresses how to move through incredibly challenging and painful experiences and connect deeply to the grace and beauty of life. This book is beautifully written, heartfelt, and one of the most inspiring reads I've ever encountered. Life changing!

"Slow Productivity" by Cal NewportThese are in no particular order.

"Slow Productivity" has helped me save my brain because I have so many things I want to do, and it feels like there's not enough time to do them. This is a really great book about how, by going slow, you can go faster, especially if you are doing mental work or anything creative.

You actually need space and time in order to put complex ideas together in a new way. So if you're a writer or your main work is using your brain rather than using your muscles, this is a really good one. It's a very well-written, well-researched book, and it helps give you a new perspective on the best way to work.

We always think that if we want to get somewhere faster, we have to push harder and go there directly. But really, if you are doing anything creative or with your brain, going slower will get you there faster. The more you try to rush something, the lower the quality will be. Go slow to go fast!

"Roar Like a Goddess: Every Woman's Guide to Becoming Unapologetically Powerful, Prosperous, and Peaceful" by Archara ShunyaThis book is so inspiring, and I recommend it to many people simply because it's so beautiful. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook version of this one, as you get to hear the author's voice as she tells the stories, and it's just magical.

She tells stories about different goddesses and how we can apply those energies in our lives. It is a beautiful and empowering read. So if you want to access that wisdom and power of being a woman, I think it's good for everybody, regardless of how you identify. It's just a remarkable read.

"No Bad Parts: Healing Trauma and Restoring Wholeness with Internal Family Systems" by Richard SchwartzThis book is a fantastic introduction to Internal Family Systems (IFS), which is a therapy technique. Richard Schwartz is one of the primary creators of this technique. It's all about understanding that inside us are these multitudes of voices, parts of us that are all talking at once. One part of us, maybe the inner critic, is bullying the inner child, and maybe there's an inner adult or other aspects of your inner world.

He treats all of these inner voices as though they are part of your internal family, and you can talk to each one of these parts and see what they need. When you do that, there's this central self—the part of you, your consciousness, that is truly you, steps forward in the middle.

There are all the voices we have inside, and then there's the observer. When we pop into that observer's point of view, that's where we connect to this sort of spiritual essence of ourselves. It is a really interesting and gentle way of reframing what is happening with our inner critic.

What he often says is that our inner critic is actually a childlike consciousness that is trying to protect us, to scare us away from harm and danger before we even go there. That little critic is trying to control our behaviour so that we won't get any more damage from abusive influences.

If we recognize that inner critic as a child, we don't get rough with the part of us that's rough with us. We can be gentle, kind, and nurturing, then manage it with this reframe to gain a new inner awareness.

"Hidden Life of Trees" by Peter WohllebenThe Hidden Life of Trees, written by a forester and scientist, explores how trees communicate with each other and their dynamic nature. It's a very sweetly written book. If you're looking to restore and balance your nervous system, I highly recommend the audiobook version. The narrator's voice is particularly soothing.

It's a really sweet way to understand how connected trees are, something we often think of as individuals. They live and communicate in these communities, and that extended community is something we’re also part of. A fantastic nervous system rebalancing read.

"Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants" by Robin Wall Kimmerer. It's just such a beautiful book. She is a botanist and an indigenous lady, and this book offers a really beautiful explanation of core philosophical concepts of a gift economy and how we can relate to our natural environment in a cooperative way rather than a dominator mindset.

It's transformational on many levels and is a really good introduction to a whole new worldview, for shifting away from a colonial or hierarchical view, where human beings are at the top of a ladder and everything exists for our use. Instead, it emphasizes an interconnected way of being in the world, focusing on relationships and nurturing connections with the natural world and with each other. It is very beautiful, and there’s some really cool botany in there. If you're looking for some science, it's also an excellent science book.

"The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself", by Michael Singer,This is one of those books that was just handed to me over and over again. It is a great read that helps you release your grip on who you truly are, letting go of your status, name, and accomplishments - who are you then?. If you take all of that away, who are you in the middle of all of that? The truth is, who you are is this conscious soul that's connected to all things.

I find this book very impactful; it's very short, but very dense. It's one of those books where you read a paragraph, and then you have to sit and reflect. It's a slow read for me, even though it's a short book, but it contains beautiful concepts that can tap you into who you truly are at your core.

"The Awakened Brain: The New Science of Spirituality and Our Quest for an Inspired Life" by Lisa MillerThis is another fascinating read. She is a brain researcher, and it's a great blend of science and spirituality. Initially, she studied people with depression and found in the data that those with any form of spiritual connection—whether religious or a connection to something greater, like nature, meditation, mindfulness, or faith—seemed to be protected from depression.

This spiritual connection changes your brain, and researchers can actually see this in the brains of people who actively cultivate their spiritual connections; it lowers their instances of depression. It's so fascinating to me, given my background in science and the work I do. I’m always intrigued by the overlaps of spirituality and science.

"The Order of Time" written by Carlo RovelliIt's about quantum physics and the nature of time from a scientific perspective. Time is really weird, and it has a connection to gravity and speed. To sum up the whole book, time is truly strange.

It's a short read, but very dense; you really need to think about it. However, it is exceptionally well-written. Ravelli explains many deep science concepts in a poetic way. If you appreciate audiobooks, Benedict Cumberbatch narrates the audiobook version, so you might want to check that out.

The Order of Time is a great introduction to quantum physics and relates to how I believe Reiki works. Much of the way Reiki is described from a spiritual standpoint overlaps with how quantum physicists explain the nature of reality. Combining those two ideas suggests that Reiki operates as a quantum phenomenon we connect to with our consciousness.

I enjoy exploring quantum physics as it offers insight into a potential understanding of the mechanics of Reiki, alongside a spiritual connection to vast energies. I’ve had many strange experiences that connect me to something greater.

"Be Here Now" by Ram Dass,This book delves into the power of being present, emphasizing that the spiritual moment exists in the now. All time is essentially the present, and by allowing yourself to be completely present, you can enter a timeless spiritual space. This concept forms the core of Ram Dass’s teachings, and the book is both beautifully written and illustrated. It’s best to get a hard copy, as it has a nice, trippy quality to it, plus beautiful illustrations.

"Women Who Run with the Wolves" by Clarissa Pinkola Estés.A book that changed my life, I couldn't put it down when I first encountered it. I would say that was my first introduction to spirituality. This is not necessarily a spiritual book; it's about fairy tales and the Wild Woman archetype.

"Women Who Run with the Wolves" was the first book where I connected to the concept of a spiritually strong woman, connected to nature and her primal instincts as being a powerful model for how I wanted to be in the world. This book was just transformative for me.

"The Original Reiki Handbook of Dr Mikao Usui" by Dr. Mikao Usui, translated by Frank Arjava Petter.Another amazing book that people ask me about when seeking recommendations for a Reiki book. I feel it's best to go to the source! It’s an excellent source for your Reiki studies. For a long time, people believed that Reiki was only passed down orally, from teacher to student. However, there actually was a handbook written by Master Usui, which has been translated from Japanese to English with illustrations. It offers a fascinating look into the origins of this amazing healing modality for anyone interested in Reiki and its history.

"The Secret Art of Happiness. Change your Life with the Reiki Ideals", written by me, Geneva Robins. This book is based on the Reiki ideals, which are these five simple lessons for doing fewer things that cause you distress and more things that help bring ease. When you do those things, you invite happiness into your world.

The Secret Art of Happiness is based on what I observed with my students when I was teaching Reiki. The people who got the most out of their Reiki classes were the ones who started really following the Reiki ideals.

The Reiki Ideals, also known as the Reiki Principles, are: Just for today, I will let go of anger; I will let go of worry; I’ll be grateful for my many blessings; I will do my work, which is my spiritual work, honestly; and I will be kind to myself and every living thing.

This book gives you a tangible guide with journaling and meditation prompts and affirmation ladders to help you shift to a new state of empowered energy.

"Beyond Anxiety: Curiosity, Creativity, and Finding Your Life's Purpose" by Martha Beck I think it is fantastic. It is such a good read if you or anyone you know suffers from anxiety, even in a little tiny way.

It has really good practical tools and techniques, along with an understanding of the brain science behind it. All of that is very well written and explains exactly proven techniques to decrease your anxiety. If you can tap into your creativity and your curiosity, it basically switches you into a different mode in your brain where you are not anxious.

"Whole Brain Living: Anatomy of Choice, and the 4 Characters that Drive Our Life" by Jill Bolte Taylor.Jill Bolte Taylor is a neuroanatomist who had a left hemisphere stroke, hemorrhage, that took over the whole left side of her brain, basically knocking her left brain offline. She could only use her right hemisphere, and because she was a neuroanatomist, she was aware and observing what was happening in her brain.

She was fascinated as her whole left side of her brain shut down and even more fascinated as she recovered from her stroke and regained that left brain, learning to let the left and right brains play together. She describes that there are four parts of our brain, and they each have a different worldview on what makes up the inside of you and your connection with all things. So that's a really good one.

"Braving the Wilderness." by Brené Brown.Brene Brown, if you're not familiar, is a social worker and researcher focused on shame and vulnerability, and how vulnerability is essential to creativity and innovation, and bringing our best work into the world. What I love about "Braving the Wilderness" is that it's all about truly belonging. To truly have a sense of belonging, we have to belong to ourselves first and risk being alone in the wilderness.

If we pretend to be someone we're not, we can't connect because people will connect to the mask we're wearing, not to who we truly are. So we have to brave that vulnerable space of sharing ourselves with people or being authentically curious about who we genuinely are, and share that with people who have earned the right to our story.

In this book, she talks about the acronym for trust: BRAVING. It is magical. If you struggle with either over-trusting or under-trusting people, the BRAVING acronym is essentially the recipe for trust. "Braving the Wilderness" is a fantastic read on all levels.

"You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise HayIt is so very good—it's very insightful about the mind-body connection and using affirmations to change your inner tape and dialogue. We use this book as a textbook in our Reiki Courses to help understand the mind-body connection.

"Seth Speaks" by Jane Roberts. It's an older book where Jane Roberts channelled a being called Seth. It's just wild and trippy, delving into the nature of consciousness, who we are, and how the soul and reincarnation work. A very profound and thought-provoking read.

"Nosso Lar" (which means “Our Home” in Portuguese) written by Francisco Candido XavierFrancisco Candido Xavier is a Brazilian author who channelled over 400 books, some of which are being translated into English. The "Nosso Lar" series talks about life on the other side, reincarnation, and various other concepts. I find it to be a very deep dive into what the other side is like.

What is your Favourite Spiritual Book? And there are so many more! Please drop a line; I'd love to hear how this all sits with you. If there's a book I mentioned that you absolutely love or don't, that's great. Let me know! If there are books that you think I need to read, please mention them. We may do another one of these reading list podcasts in the next little while. I'd love to hear from you!

The Universal Struggle of Self-DoubtLet’s face it: self-doubt is a stubborn companion on our journey through life. Even the most insightful individuals can find themselves caught in a web of uncertainty. It might seem surprising that those with profound intuition often question their instincts, but this is a common hurdle many face. Why does this happen? The answer is layered and complex, reflecting the unique experiences each of us carries.

That nagging voice whispering, “Are you sure?” or “What if you’re wrong?” can create a maze of confusion. It’s easy to fall into the trap of seeking external validation instead of anchoring back to ourselves. But don’t worry; we’re going to explore ways to strengthen that internal compass.

Finding Your Center Through MeditationOne of the most effective tools I’ve discovered on this path to self-trust is meditation. Whenever I feel uncertain, I turn to meditation; it's my go-to first step. Here’s a quick exercise you can do to reclaim your center:

Take a moment to pause and breathe. If you can, close your eyes and focus inward. Tune into your heart and belly and become aware of your center. Feel the grounding energy of the earth beneath you and allow it to center you. Embrace the sensation of your breath flowing in and out. Let out a sigh of relief, celebrating the simple gift of breathing. Gratitude for this moment is a beautiful starting point.

When we meditate, we cultivate awareness, allowing us to observe that internal dialogue. Are you listening to the inner critic, or are you tuning into your authentic self?

Embracing Your Inner SelvesUnderstanding who you are is essential to trusting yourself fully. This can be quite intricate! According to the concept of internal family systems, we embody a collection of different aspects, including the child self, the caretaker, the protector, and, yes, even the inner critic. These parts contribute to your life journey.

When you ask yourself a question, consider which “self” you’re consulting. The people-pleaser in you may prioritize others’ opinions over your own needs, steering you away from trusting your true instincts. By acknowledging these various aspects, you cultivate a richer understanding of yourself and your choices.

So take a moment to reflect: which part of yourself is guiding your actions today? Whose voice are you listening to?

Connect to your Inner KnowingTaking a moment to become still and pause the chatter, you can often find your centre self. That wise voice is the one to listen to and trust. Your inner wisdom is not swayed by passing influences; it is attuned to the needs of your heart and soul and will always lead you in the right direction.

We find that Reiki sessions can really help to connect to your inner awareness. If you need a bit of help tuning into your guidance, Reiki can often help you still your thoughts to hear your soul self.

Sometimes, even a gentle question like "If my soul knew the answer, what would it say?" can unlock the brilliant knowing always within. At the end of the day, the most important voice is your own.

Energy work can help you Connect to Your PurposeReiki can help you connect to the wisdom of your soul where your purpose lives. Receiving an energy healing session like Reiki can help you get energetically clear so you can clearly hear the calling of your spirit.

Reiki opens the doorways of light that lead you in the direction that is meant for you. A magical light turns on to lead you on your way. When you let go of layers in Reiki sessions to create an opening and flow for you to find your way.

Be willing to follow the wisdom in your heart and stop holding yourself back from the brave thing you are meant to create. Following the energy can lead you to an array of wonderful experiences and lead you to your purpose in the most wonderful way.

As soon as you are willing to live a life of greater fulfillment and service, the Universe opens up to show you the way. You may not always know how it is going to play out, but if you are willing to follow the lead of the energy, it will take you to great places and adventures.

Helpers and Healers, Start with YourselfBe your first and best client for your own products and services. All healing is self-healing. When you are doing your own self-care, you become a better healer and helper for others. The Energetic Eight Business School and Energetic Eight Coaching can help you to activate your authentic dreams and goals in a way that is supported by the energy of your purpose.

It is vulnerable to do what you really want to do. As soon as you have found your purpose, the little ego can kick up a fuss to stop or block your forward progress. Keep following the light, even if it feels scary to the ego. Vulnerability is very normal when you are doing something important. But if you can move past that momentary discomfort and distraction, you actually feel best when you are following the path rather than avoiding it.

The feeling of fulfillment and deep inner peace and grounded openness only happens when you take those tiny brave steps forward. Support and cheer yourself as you take those steady steps forward, even if it is only five minutes a day – forward is forward. When you are moving forward on your soul purpose, even in a small way, the Universe opens up and brings you more opportunities, energy and ideas than you can even believe would have been possible.

When you are in a small way, just letting yourself go with it, it opens up more light for everyone. We are all connected, so if you bring your ideas and creations to the world, it creates more light and inspiration for others.

If in Doubt, Follow the Flow of JoyYour heart lights up when you are on your best path and that brings more light for everyone. And it could be so simple and joyful. Your purpose flows from that centre of joy. It's often what comes naturally to you and something that brings you energy. It's not all hard work, but often is the thing that makes your heart sparkle.

That joyfulness is the self-sustaining energy in your purpose that keeps bringing you back again and again. When we stop resisting the pull of the soul, a huge amount of energy gets released that brings balance and peace. The energy of your purpose is inside of you; you can never get away from it.

What if you don't have any idea what your purpose is?Make a list of everything that interests you, even in a tiny way. Follow up on all bits of curiosity. Try teeny, tiny samples of experiences you are interested in, small in time and small in dollar investment. Approach this search as a giant game of warmer-colder. Try a tiny experience and then see how you feel.

You have to play with the universe. The Universe will send you an energy that is expansive, fresh, forward, light, and steady. As you explore the world and what sparks curiosity within you, you start to move around and gain new insights and information.

Pay particular attention to how you feel. As you sample life, your inner being will open up and resonate when you are engaged in actions that are on the path. It might not always be linear or logical, but if you continue to make small steps forward you end up being lead on an incredible journey of inner discovery. If nothing else, you'll lead a life full of joyful moments and playful curiosity. Your bucket list will empty and refill many times over!

Moving forward can scare the pants off you!Vulnerability happens when you are doing something new and important. But leaning away from that vulnerability is way worse, that feels like stagnation and getting stuck. But when you tune into the wisest part within you, it is never afraid of your purpose. It just feels like freedom when you move toward it. the more you anchor yourself in that internal wisdom, the less and less scary it all gets. Following your path releases energy and feels nourishing and encouraging.

If it’s joyful, then it's the work. It doesn't always have to make sense.

What have you healed from?

Sometimes your purpose can be found in what you have worked through. It might not always be the peak experiences, but helping others with something that you yourself have also known. You have hard-won compassion for anyone else in that spot. Things you have experienced, your struggles, and things you have overcome can be transformational moments that lead you on the path of purpose. You can use that energy and all those lessons in a way that can help others.

Making money or not – your soul's purpose is eternal and valuable all on its own.

Self-Care for the Crown ChakraThe crown chakra is located right at the top of your head and helps with connection to something greater and spirituality. Even if you don’t have a particular faith or spiritual outlook, everyone has a crown chakra and its job is to help us feel like we have a place in the universe and a connection to something more.

The best self care tool for the crown chakra is meditation. Even if meditation has been a struggle for you, just take a gentle approach. Keep trying different styles of meditation until you find one that works for you. Even if your mind gets busy, you’re not doing meditation wrong, you are actually clearing out those thoughts so they’ll bother you less during the rest of the day.

Begin simply with a few minutes at first – set a timer, close your eyes, and breathe slowly. You may also like the Infinite Universe Meditation or any of our other meditations on Insight Timer.

Self-Care for the Third Eye ChakraThe third eye chakra is located in the centre of your head at the level of your eyebrows. It is the point where you receive and understand information about the world. The third eye chakra governs both your intellect and your intuition and helps to bring a clear balance between the two.

A powerful self-care tool for the third eye chakra is journalling. Not only does journalling give you a chance to empty out your thoughts and feelings, but you can also gain a greater perspective and awareness when you write that you may not otherwise access.

Writing is a natural process of organizing your thoughts so instead of having all of that energy spinning you in circles, journalling can help you focus and get clarity even when everything else is topsy turvy.

You can also powerfully access your intuition when you write simply by allowing the kindness and love of the Universe to say nice things to you. You can use your imagination to answer your questions with love and care. Even imagining that you are your own best friend and writing down the advice you would give a friend is massively helpful to gain perspective and a little bit of self-compassion and love.

Try the Creative Warm-up process to get your pen flowing, meditate for 2 minutes and free write for 2 minutes and see what happens.

Self-Care for the Throat ChakraThe throat chakra, located in the centre of your throat, is the centre for communication, speaking, and listening. When the throat chakra is well balanced you can easily express yourself and you can also listen to others with ease and grace. Good communication is mostly about being an expert in listening both to yourself and the other person.

A wonderful self-care tool to heal the throat chakra is to sing or chant. Making music with your own voice, even if no one else hears it, is deeply healing. Listening to music is also a wonderful way to flow energy through this chakra, but singing and chanting are just going to turbo charge that energy. Put on your favourite tune and sing along!

Playing an instrument or receiving a sound healing session can also help you clear and balance this important energy centre.

Self-Care for the Heart ChakraThe heart chakra is located in the centre of your chest and helps you feel connected, loved, and compassionate for yourself and others. When your heart chakra is well balanced you feel content and joyful and steady.

A wonderful self-care tool for the heart chakra is mindful breathing. Because the physical heart and the lungs are linked together, when you slow down your breathing rate, your heart rate also drops.

Mindful breathing helps your heart rest and also reach a coherent energy field that is healing all on its own. Focus your attention on a part of your body that is feeling tension, like your jaw or your neck and then slowly breathe in and out to the count of seven.

You may also want to try the Mindful Meditation for Pain Relief or the Heart Meditation to help the energy flow through and heal the heart while you practice mindful breathing.

Self-Care for the Solar Plexus ChakraThe solar plexus chakra is located in your upper belly and is the centre for confidence, boundaries, and energy. When the solar plexus chakra is well balanced, you feel happy and energized, ready for anything.

A key self-care tool for the solar plexus chakra is to protect your energy reserves. Notice what tasks give you energy and which ones drain your energy. The skill is to tune into your energy levels before you say yes or no to anything.

This is always an important skill but becomes absolutely crucial when you are dealing with a lot of upheaval or working through big changes or healing something massive in your body, mind, or emotions. In order for you to do your big work, you need energy.

Your energy is a precious thing as are you, and it needs your protection and wisdom. Only you can know if something is in alignment for you or not. There is no other person who can know this better than you, everyone else is just guessing.

Saying no can be daunting, especially if it is a new skill for you or you are in the habit of putting everyone else first and not even considering your own energy levels. But that is all okay, this is a self care skill that you have to practice to be good at it.

Just begin gently and start by simply noticing what kinds of things lift you and which deplete you. Over time you can rebalance your energy by choosing to add one small thing that recharges you and leaving out one small thing that drains you. Even a tiny change can shift everything and give you your energy back.

Try the Activating Divine Will Meditation to give you a bit of a boost before you say your kind “no”.

Self-Care for the Sacral ChakraThe sacral chakra is located in your lower belly and is the centre for abundance, sexuality, and creativity. When the sacral chakra is well balanced you feel a natural joy and vitality, there is a zest for life and a zip in your step. Things sparkle when the sacral chakra is full of energy.

Spending time on creative projects is a very nurturing way to care for your sacral chakra. Especially if you approach your creative and crafty time with the attitude of play and participation that happens in kindergarten. You get a sticker just for showing up!

Let yourself dabble in anything that captures your interest with no expectations of results. Making anything with your hands will put you in your spatial awareness and activates your right brain. The right brain helps you also access your connection with the vastness of the universe and is the part that can see things from a gentler view.

Simply by spending a few moments making art you can calm your mind and understand things differently. Plus, it’s fun!

Self-Care for the Root ChakraThe root chakra is located at the base of your spine and its energy extends down your legs to help you feel rooted and stable. When your root chakra is well balanced you feel steady and safe. This is the chakra that is most often affected by big changes in our routine and in the world. It’s our foundation so when big world events unsettle you, spending time on the root chakra can help you find your path through all the uncertainty.

The key self-care tool for the root chakra is grounding. Connecting to the earth, either by visualization or spending time outdoors is very healing to every part of your energy and root chakra. The best is to simply spend time in nature, look out a window, and watch nature moving. Observing the wind moving, animals and birds, looking at all the plant life, creates a peacefulness all on its own. Nature is the best healer.

Grounding meditations are also helpful to consciously connect to the energy in the earth and feel the resonance of your nature with Mother Nature. You can practice grounding wherever you happen to be, it is literally a thought away. Try the Grounding Meditation or the Tree Meditation to help connect to the earth.

Self-Care for the AuraLast but not least is the aura, the electromagnetic field surrounding your body. The aura is especially important for highly sensitive people and empaths, as it is your literal force field helping you to filter out everyone else’s energy. When your aura is bright and strong you feel a perfect balance of cozy safety and spacious expansion.

Our favourite way of balancing the aura is Reiki. You can try the Self Healing Meditation to practice on your own or the Aura Flame Meditation to clear out old energies and boost up the power of your aura.

A Reiki session will help you stay in your bubble and get a great energetic reset especially if you have been going through a lot lately. Learning Reiki is also a phenomenal way to learn how to take care of your energetic boundaries so you can stay in the light and shine

In this podcast episode, Geneva Robins and Angela Hoogeveen chat about how sensitive people can be affected by world events and protect their energy without shutting down or becoming overwhelmed. Learn some handy tools to stay centred and strong even when the world is changing.

Be Gentle with YourselfThere is a lot of turmoil in the world right now; sometimes, we can forget just how Sensitive we actually are. Often, sensitive people can pick up on the energy in the room if even one person is off. Now imagine the collective impact of 8 billion people reacting to something they read on the news.

That collective ripple of energy can be extremely loud for sensitive folks, like a jackhammer outside your window all day and all night. But, because that energy is invisible to most people and it looks like everyone else is just carrying on with their day, we can forget that the energy levels are high and noisy. Sometimes, we even think the discomfort we feel is Only because we are " too Sensitive."

The truth is that once you notice the energy level in the collective, and trust us, it is very high and loud right now, then you can begin to be gentle with your reactions and protect your amazing superpower of empathy.

Think of Superman being able to hear Lois Lane cry out for help. You are able to hear the whole world cry out. If this were a movie, Superman would be incapacitated, but you are far stronger, you can walk around and work and have conversations with others and help.

But before you start helping, you need to first protect your energy. This podcast episode will help you do just that!

Ground and Aura Up!The two primary tools to protect yourself are grounding, connecting to the earth, and boosting your aura, the energy field around your body. When you combine these two energetic techniques you gain a powerful way to stay sensitive, keeping your intuitive gifts sharp, and yet also feel well supported and protected when the energetic noise is loud.

The Grounding Meditation and Tree Meditation are wonderful fools to begin balancing your energy and getting grounded and clear. You can also spend time in Nature, which is the ultimate source of this nurturing and protective energy.

The AuraFlame Meditation and the Lightworker Activation Meditation have a positive and clarifying effect on your aura. When there is more light and energy around your body, it acts as a protective filter. You are still able to perceive any energy that is relevant to you, but it just doesn't hit you full-on. Any external energies have to go through the aura, and it gives you much-needed space between you and the world.

Reiki also helps to clear your aura and bring that gentle presence and grounding into your energy. Try the Self- healing Meditation to give a lift to your frequency. Or book in for a session or Reiki course to get a big boost. Mainly though, remember that you can clear your energy and feel better just by intending that you are connected and in a clear, bright energy bubble.

Your Ability to Feel is Your StrengthSometimes, we are so sensitive that it can feel like an overwhelming liability. We might even be criticized for being too empathetic and told to toughen up. But toughening up and becoming insensitive isn't the solution either.

Often, when highly sensitive folks try to be less sensitive all that happens is that they start numbing. This can be a slippery slope and lead to addictive behaviours, out-of-alignment choices, or a total freeze shutdown.

It might seem counterintuitive, but your ability to feel is your strength. Indeed, it is a hidden superpower! You have in abundance exactly what the world needs right now. The heroic task before all of us now is to share that gift in ways that are most nurturing for us and for others.

What if you have courage equal to the fear? This reframing tool is remarkable how quickly it can shift your state. First, simply notice the feeling you are in. Pay particular attention to the physical sensations in the body. Instead of trying to suppress the feeling, allow the feeling space and honour it. Celebrate your capacity to feel and know this is part of your strength.

Say to yourself: I feel, and that means I am strong. The more I feel, the stronger I am.

Then, gently bring in this thought: what if there is an equal amount of this feeling's positive opposite feeling already inside of you? If you are feeling fear or anxiety, what if there is an equal amount of courage and strength? If it is anger what if there is also a source of Wise calm?

Spend a few minutes connecting to this equal amount of courage, strength, and calm. Just simply imagining the feeling will begin to activate it. We're not suppressing the original feelings but instead seeing them as an indicator of the inner reserves of calm, wise, clear energy. It gives you a moment to tap into your ancient and soulful wisdom and power.

You are not weak because you feel you are powerful beyond measure.

The truth is that your internal courage and strength are far greater than you can even imagine. When you make space for your feelings and honour them, you begin to tap into a deep spiritual truth. You are a being of great light and energy temporarily housed in a physical body. You remember who you truly are.

Empathy and Compassion Change the WorldThroughout history, great and lasting change has always had the energy of empathy and compassion. This is something you know well. The key is to treat yourself with as much kindness as you naturally offer others. Even tiny bits of self-care and kindness can heal. First, start with yourself and then branch out to others.

As you connect to the flow of kindness, you may be inspired to make tiny changes or do positive and creative things that may help others. This is truly how the world changes, one tiny act of compassion after another!

Reiki is a transformational energy healing practice that has profoundly changed our lives. In this episode, Angela Hoogeveen and Geneva Robins share their experiences with learning Reiki and how it has helped them in their lives in large and small ways.

Protect Your Energy With ReikiBoth Angela and Geneva are strong empaths and spent their early lives bombarded with energy. Being too sensitive was a common theme, but Reiki provided a way to stay sensitive and in tune and provided a powerful tool to protect and clear their energy.

Staying grounded and clear is a key practice that is taught in Reiki Level I and is a very safe method to help sensitive souls survive an energetically noisy world.

How is Reiki Life-Changing?Reiki sessions can powerfully clear stuck and stagnant energy, helping you feel peaceful and clear in only a few minutes. Learning Reiki is a game-changer for sensitive empaths because you always have that connection to that strong, protective frequency of Universal Life Force energy. Even a few short minutes of self-healing can completely shift your energy state, bringing well-being on many levels.

Start With a Reiki Session or Self-Healing MeditationThe best place to start if you feel you’re an empath or highly sensitive person is to try a Reiki session for yourself. Experience is the best teacher! You will quickly know if Reiki works for you in a session or two. (We have great package rates if you are trying it for the first time!)

If you’d rather dip your toe in first, then try one of these self-healing meditations:

  • Self-Healing Meditation
  • Myofascial Healing Meditation
  • Kindness and Courage Self-Healing Meditation

In a self-healing meditation, you get guided along to clear your energy, ground, balance your chakras, and put a strong protection energy in your aura. In only a few minutes, you can improve your energetic state and feel peaceful and radiant.

Learn Reiki for Total Life TransformationLearning Reiki puts the energy literally at your fingertips. You begin a process of self-healing and inner discovery in Level I, a great primer on your meditation and self-healing practice.

Level II helps you anchor the energy even further and teaches you key skills in assisting others with Reiki sessions as well as boosting up your own self-care practice. Level II helps you learn to shield your energy with the Reiki symbols, some very powerful tools to have even for your own self-care, even if you don’t plan on doing Reiki on anyone else.

Level III is the advanced Reiki training level, and it helps you learn to assist others with powerful sessions to clear energetic blocks. You learn to manifest with Reiki and bring a Divine unconditional love into your heart.

Master Level training helps you create a lifelong learning mentality to your Reiki practice. You develop skills to assist others with transformative healing attunements and also learn how to pass Reiki symbols to others if you choose to go on to teach Reiki. Many people who take our Reiki courses, even all the way to Master Level, do so for their own spiritual expansion and growth. Each level has profound and deep lesions that can enrich your experience and create a pathway for deep connection to your spiritual well-being.

Check out our course pages for more information or our upcoming courses schedule to find out when the next one is offered. We start courses seasonally and you can attend either in person at our Calgary location or virtually over Zoom, or a hybrid of both if you happen to be travelling or need to stay home from time to time. Check out our Testimonials page and Google reviews to see what other people are saying about how Reiki has changed their lives.

Learn why you are actually superhuman if you are an empath! In this podcast episode, Geneva Robins and Angela Hoogeveen discuss their healing journeys as strong empaths and how they have learned to clear, protect, and ground their energy. You can keep all your gifts sharp and stay sensitive without being bombarded, we'll show you how!

What is an empath?Empaths have a highly developed intuition and are attuned to the energies and emotions of others. Empaths can feel what the other person is feeling and take on or absorb those emotions themselves. An empath is like a sponge when it comes to other people's emotions.

Not understanding you're an Empath can cause great distressBefore Angela knew she was an empath, she felt that being highly sensitive was a detriment. She was told she was too sensitive and to toughen up. It took many years for Geneva to understand that she was an empath. Her nervous system was constantly bombarded, and she wasn’t able to discern what she was feeling and what she was taking on from others.

How to Energetically Protect YourselfAll of us - especially empaths - benefit from protecting our aura. Try doing the meditation below anytime you leave the house. You may also need to do it at other times. Angela feels she specifically needs to do it whenever she’s in an airport or on a plane. Geneva adds that if you know you’re going into an energy-dense situation, protecting your aura and putting yourself into an energetic bubble is imperative.

Only put a bubble around yourself. Never try this technique on other people. Unless you are a trained reiki practitioner and are doing a reiki session on someone, it is best to keep your energy hands to yourself and even then, only with clear permission from the person.

Being in a bubble of light helps you to feel more anchored in that strong frequency.

Energy Clearing Meditation for EmpathsJump to 4:48 in the podcast for a meditation practice to clear your energy and protect your sensitivity.

We are not just physical bodies, but energy bodies. We have an energy field all around us - an aura. This meditation will help you centre your body and help you to connect to Mother Earth. It is important to connect to the present rather than being in the past or future. It will direct you to flow light and energy down through your body and chakras. Imagine a beautiful light surrounding your body. Allow any energy that doesn’t belong to you to melt away. Envision a violet light, the highest frequency, all around you.

The importance of putting yourself in an energetic bubbleGeneva likens an empath not being in a bubble of light to being in a rainstorm without rain gear. If you have proper rain gear, it acts like a membrane between you and the world. It doesn’t stop the rain, but it allows you to manage it.

When you are in a clear energy field, you have access to your own power and light. It is much easier to allow others to be themselves, and you can be respectful of their energy, too. You can be in more situations more fully without feeling energetically bombarded.

Can an Empath Protect and Clear their Own Energy?Yes! Absolutely, you can. With a bit of practice, you can learn meditative and reframing tools to help you stay in your strong light and energy. Learning Reiki is a wonderful way for empaths to stay in a clear bubble, but there are many other tools too. Geneva and Angela discuss how an empath can protect, clear and ground their own energy.

And if things ever get really intense, receiving a Reiki session can help hit the reset button and is a key tool in having someone facilitate what you may not clear yourself.

Is Being an Empath a Curse or a Superpower? What the world needs is more people to feel compassion and empathy. The ability to understand what others are going through. The world doesn’t need people to ‘toughen up’. The antidote to being sensitive is not to become tougher or insensitive. It is to teach other people to see the world in a different way, to see the world with eyes of compassion; to put ourselves in other people's shoes; to relate to what other people experience on a feeling level.

It can feel counterintuitive to embrace being an empath, as it has the potential to cause emotional pain. But once an empath learns to ground, protect and clear their energy, being an empath can definitely feel like a superpower!

Being an Empath is a Gift!Geneva reveals that, as an empath, once she learned Reiki, she was finally able to feel joy, connection and peace. Angela agrees that Reiki has helped her understand that being an empath is a beautiful thing and something to embrace rather than to push down, push away or to toughen up from.

Honour your sensitivity and recover your power!

What is a Soul Career?A soul career is one where you put your time and energy into bringing products and services to the world that not only light up your soul but also bring positive change in people's lives.

Your work is aligned with your values and supports you on every level, spiritually, mentally, physically, and financially. Often, a soul career is illuminating and helps other people shine too. There's a great feeling of service and giving back that lights you up each and every day.

Where do you start? If a soul career is so wonderful, why is it so hard to get there? You know, I think about this a lot. Much of my work in Reiki is about helping people move through where and why they get stuck and doing the energetic and emotional work of getting everything flowing.

Most of the time, we get stuck because of fears, vulnerabilities, and limiting beliefs. The work we do in Energetic Eight Business Coaching helps you clear any of this friction slowing you down.

Of course, there can be all kinds of physical world obstacles to living your dreams, too. But what I have found is that persistence, creativity, and learning to ask for help can clear or manage many of these issues. We are always working within limitations; the challenge is to see these limitations as creative challenges that will ultimately make the work better.

>> Join me for a webinar to try out the Energetic Eight, January 20th 7pm MT <<

Using the Energetic Eight to Build your Soul CareerIn Energetic Eight Coaching and the upcoming Energetic Eight Business School online course, you build your soul career using the blueprint of the chakras and the aura. The Energetic Eight is a process where you see what you are making as a being in its own right.

Your work has an energy and intelligence, as well as the aura and chakras. You spend time focusing on the needs of your work in each of these eight major areas so that the work can thrive, and so can you!

The Aura of your Soul CareerWhat if the idea for your soul career didn't come from you but from Source energy? These ideas you get come from a greater need, a greater source of energy, this infinite wisdom that lives within all things. This divine intelligence knows what we're capable of. It knows what we're good at, and we will be given ideas, inspiration, and an urge to make, create, and share something unique, something that's needed, and something that will help other people.

In the Aura step of the Energetic Eight program, you connect to that big energy and clarify it into an intention for your work. You get familiar with that motivating frequency, so you can always refer back to it. That way, you can be sure your choices are in harmony with why you got into this work in the first place.

Crown Chakra and Your Soul PathThe crown chakra is about spiritual connection. Your work is guided by the intelligence of the universe. At the crown step of the Energetic Eight, we spend time developing meditation practices to connect to this wisdom and guidance. You get an opportunity to clear your mind and also sync up with the Law of Attraction to let the Universe deliver its help.

You get clear on what your values are and what you believe to be true about your work. Free-writing and journalling are also amazing tools to help get the plan onto paper so it can make it into the world.

Third Eye Chakra - What is your Big Vision? The third eye chakra is our center for intuition. Working with your intuition as you build your business is really important because then you are making soulful choices for your career.

In this step, you have a moment to do some long-range planning so you have a clear vision of where you'd like the work to go. Then, you tune into the baby steps through your guidance system so your actions align with your dream.

Throat Chakra - Your Soul Career's VoiceThe throat chakra is about how you talk about what you do. In this step in the Energetic Eight, we work to clear out any limiting beliefs or language. Talking about yourself and your work in the best light can sometimes be difficult, but it is necessary and honest. You are great at what you do! When you speak this truth, it manifests blessings both inner and outer.

When you honour your work with kind words, it helps you get your message out. You connect with your audience and customers in an easy, light, and natural way.

Writing and sharing can be nervy, but when you take the time to practice this skill, it helps people know that the work you're doing and making is what they need.

Heart Chakra - Connection is the core of your Soul CareerThe heart chakra is our center for love, connection, and empathy, which are all really important when you're building something soulful.

Why do you love what you do? What's the energy behind it? Where's the joy? We want to make sure that we're still having fun along the way and connecting to what you love and why you love the soulful work you do.

Vulnerability can arise in this step, so we take time in the Energetic Eight to take care of the normal feelings of shakiness that come up when you care so much. Vulnerability isn't anything to be feared. It's something to be expected. It's also where all of the best bits of your work can live. If you can have patience and kindness for that vulnerable feeling, it's much easier to flip into the courageous part of the heart.

The heart chakra of your soul career also gives you steadiness, so you can show up consistently for what you love to do. You have your all-in moment where you fully commit to your dream and give it your whole-heart.

Solar Plexus - Shining your LightThe solar plexus chakra is our center for confidence. It's also about power, rules, and boundaries. This energy in the Energetic Eight helps you to set kind, wise limits about how you're going to navigate your time and energy so everything stays in balance.

What's okay? What's not Okay? Boundaries are the love-container so you have sustainable energy for all the things you need to do. Being clear about these rules actually helps everyone relax and feel safe with you and your work.

The energy for all of the things you do has to come from somewhere. Here, we think about what your self-care plan is. How are you going to make sure that you receive adequate energy and self-care to sustain what you are making and sharing with the world?

Sacral Chakra - Creativity and ValueThe sacral Chakra is connected to value and exchange of value. This is the step where you pay kind attention to the money part. Claiming your value and asking for what you're worth is a really important part of living in a joyous balance for your soul career. It's respectful for you to charge what you're worth, but it also respects other people because people will pay money for the things that they value.

In the Energetic Eight, we work to clear out any limiting beliefs that you might have about money or your value. Your worthiness is often the biggest hindrance to making more money. I believe that soul careers are just as valuable as any other career.

Creativity is also a key part of the work here. YOur creative inspirations are a big part of the joyfulness and passion that keeps you in business. It also helps you connect with others and share your work.

Marketing is all about education and sharing. The approach here is about helping people find you and getting them the information they need to know if your product or service is right for them. It's all about aligning your messaging with the energy of your work. We play with pictures, fonts, and colours here, too. Making things pretty!

Root Chakra - Your business foundation! The root chakra is where we make everything real. In this stage of the Energetic Eight, we get that final push to bring things into the world. This is where we launch after building a solid foundation.

This is where we plan out all the physical world objects and tools you might need. You also scope out locations and where your work is going to live in the world. The root chakra energy helps us with the structures or systems you need so that you can operate your business. It's thinking about all those little tiny details and making sure they are still supporting the intention you set in the Aura stage.

Our roots make us feel safe. Here, we also think about caring for the people who interact with our work. Creating supportive communication plans and reassuring people once they've signed up or registered that they've landed in the right place, bringing in that sense of connection and community.

Taking Action for Your Soul CareerOkay now, it's to move beyond the dreaming stage and start bringing your ideas into the world, whether it's writing a book, launching a product, or creating a healing center.

If you've been sitting on inspiring ideas for too long, the Energetic Eight supports you to take the first step. Share this episode with someone who needs encouragement to start their soul career, and connect with Geneva for more resources and support.

Shrinking Back to Try to Stay SafeThere's so much happening in the world, and sometimes it can make you feel small. It is normal to respond by trying to hide your light as a way to stay safe. Sometimes, it feels like the brighter we shine, the worse the criticism can be. So, we learn to live dimmed down as a way to protect ourselves.

For a while, dimming your light may have kept you safe - especially as a child. But sometimes, even when you get to a safe space, the habit of dimming down is still active. The only issue is that now it is keeping you stuck and depriving the world of your creations and ideas.

That pattern may even be ancestral, not something you directly experienced; instead, it was a pattern handed down through the generations. Again, honour those wise and strong people you descended from, and practice being your unique and radiant self now that you are in a safer space.

Sometimes, we dim down to remain connected to others, choosing not to reach beyond what others might be capable of. But there are costs to living dialled down. There's a cost to living with less of your vital life force energy. It takes enormous effort and energy to not be yourself. And when you are not claiming your full space, the whole world has a little bit less light.

Why Shining Your Light is ImportantWhen one person shines their light fully, it creates a space for everyone else to shine. It is time to bring forward your brilliance and light into the world.

If you are able to shine with everything you are, you can easily bring your ideas forward. You make what you are supposed to make and share what you are supposed to share. If you can create something that can influence even one other person in a positive way, then it is worth the small risk of being criticized by people who are cranky anyway.

When you are living in that fully illuminated space, the negative doesn't stick to you. Instead, you can examine negativity with good humour and compassion. It doesn't wound you or stop you. You can notice it all with curiosity and then keep flowing forward with joyful creativity.

It might seem small, but it creates a ripple of change and kindness forward in ways you may not ever fully see. Every time you share your light, there is more for everyone.

Solutions for Shiny, Brillant People Like YouGrounding Meditations. When you ground, you feel safe and rooted. That alone can give you an immediate boost of confidence. Connecting to Earth energy is nurturing and supportive and can help you feel connected to something patient and ancient. Try this Grounding Meditation to help you feel anchored and ready to expand.

Clear your Aura. If that energetic space around you is clear, you have a buffer between you and others. It creates a live and let live space. Then, you are less affected by other people's energy and opinions. You shine! You can balance and clear your aura with a few simple visualizations.

Reiki can help you stay grounded and clear. Get support from others who support your Rise. We all need that support, and that can create a safe space to begin sharing your work and ideas with others. Spend more time with kind people who are cheering you on. Receiving a Reiki session is a nurturing way to make space for your light. Learning Reiki puts the skills in your hands to clear and balance your energy, bringing confidence and joy.

Shift into a Power Pose. When you are holding yourself in a small position, you have less space for your breath and energy to move. Sometimes, creating more space in the body can flip the experience in your mind. Hold yourself in a position of confidence. Stand and sit in a position of dignity and strength: head up, shoulders back, brave heart forward. Sometimes, shifting your posture can shift your energy instantly.

Reframing thoughts. Affirmations and shifting your inner dialogue are crucial to shining your light. Sometimes, simply affirming that you are safe and confident can create more space for you to be fully yourself. Challenging negative beliefs is also useful in flipping the internal narrative to one of peace, support, and expansion. A great resource for this is Byron Katie's The Work.

Welcome to Lunar Harmony!Lunar Harmony is all about connecting with the moon's cycles to boost your personal and spiritual growth. Tuning into these cycles can help you feel more in touch with yourself and the universe around you. A fun way to start this journey is through a guided grounding exercise, where you can channel the Earth's and the moon's energies, helping you find balance and harmony in your life.

Discovering Lunar CyclesDid you know that the moon’s cycles can have a significant impact on our emotions and behaviours? Many people, especially sensitive people, can feel these shifts quite deeply. By understanding these cycles, you can gain valuable insight into your own experiences and the energy fluctuations that happen with each lunar phase.

Chakras meet the Moon CalendarA fantastic way to keep track of the moon’s influence is by adjusting your self-care for the chakra energies on each lunar day. The colourful LunaHolistic Moon Calendar uses the chakra system to enhance your self-care routines. This creative approach not only makes it easy to understand the lunar phases but also encourages you to tune into your own energy, helping you feel more balanced and centered.

Lunar Phases and How They Affect YouLet’s break down the lunar phases! Each phase holds its own significance: the new moon is a wonderful time to set fresh intentions, while the full moon invites reflection and completion. Don’t forget the waning phase, which is perfect for practicing generosity and giving. By embracing these phases, you can harness their energies and align your actions with the natural rhythms around you. Your spiritual connection is enhanced by flowing with the lunar energy.

Introducing the Lunar Harmony PlannerSay hello to the Lunar Harmony Planner! This handy tool helps you weave lunar energies into your everyday life. With daily lunar harmony invitations, this planner guides you on how to align your activities with the moon’s energies, helping you feel more purposeful and intentional in everything you do.

You can balance your self-care with the needs of your busy schedule and feel supported as you flow through each lunar month.

Reconnecting with Nature and the MoonIn our busy urban lives, it’s so important to take a moment to reconnect with nature. This connection not only boosts your well-being but also deepens your understanding of how the moon impacts our lives, especially through meditation practices. The experiences you gain from this reconnection highlight how all beings are interconnected and how essential nature is to our lives.

When you take a moment to tune into the energy of the moon, you connect to something much larger and more magical than you can imagine. This ancient cycle helps to feel connected to something lasting when everything else is changing.

In this episode, we answer a listener's question, "How can I avoid merging with my mother?" Paula's mother had experienced an unjust situation, and Paula felt angry and protective on her mom's behalf. Listen in on the self-care and reframing tips Reiki Master Geneva Robins had for this situation.

Recognize it comes from a Good place - You Care!If you see yourself in Paula's shoes and feel upset or angry about injustice in the world, know that feeling has a very positive core. You care! What an amazing place the world would be if everyone cared as much as you!

Sometimes, simply noticing that the energy underneath the strong feeling of distress and anger is actually coming from a place of deep love can help reframe things. As soon as you notice what the core is, you can shift into that loving space.

Create a gentle space to acknowledge your feelingsThe next step is to give yourself a space, a moment where you can step away from the situation. To temporarily pause the thinking that is creating the flood of emotion in your body and just give yourself a space to rest, ground, and come back to yourself.

This can be very difficult to do when you're in a heightened state, but it is essential if you want to be of maximum service to the one you love.

To do this, it's useful to pay attention to the physical sensations in the body. Gently notice areas of tension, of different temperatures, noticing if there are any muscles that are clenched, if your breathing is tight and not flowing.

And then just gently working to create space around all the sensations and gently creating room with your breath and awareness into the simple sensations of distress and anger within the body. It's a heightened form of mindfulness. Even a few minutes of paying attention to your inner physiological state will begin to bring in a sense of calm.

You might like the Releasing Anger Meditation as a tool to begin anchoring yourself back in the present moment.

Come back to yourself and the present - Grounding and your AuraAnother powerful tool is grounding, which connects to the energy within the Earth and allows that nurturing energy to bring a sense of peace into your body. Try the Grounding Meditation to activate that wise Earth Energy.

Noticing the energy around your body and bringing a bit of space between you and the situation is also deeply healing. Each person has their own energy bubble, the aura, and when the aura is strong, you feel clear and are better able to discern what is your feeling and what another person’s feeling. The aura is so important if you are an empath or a highly sensitive person! It helps you avoid merging with another person's energy so you can be in a good place to help them.

The good news is just imagining a calming and comforting energy in the aura will help you. When you are back in your bubble, it is much easier to hold space for your loved one or the difficult situation you are facing. It is the best place for you to see their strength and cheer on their empowerment.

If this is difficult for you, you can also try a Reiki session. Reiki is a gentle way of grounding and reconnecting to the flow of energy, harmonizing you with a state of peace and calm so that you can get clarity on the situation. Try the Self-Healing Meditation to see how even 5 minutes can help.

The Reiki Ideals can help you get perspectiveAnger is a normal emotion when a boundary is crossed, and you or your loved one is threatened. It’s a survival emotion that helps us escape danger. The problem is when anger gets stuck and becomes chronic, it just ends up burning us up.

In Reiki, we practice the Reiki ideals, which are five principles for leading a happy life. The Reiki ideals are: just for today, I will let go of anger, I will let go of worry, I will be grateful for my many blessings, I will do my spiritual work honestly, and I'll be kind to myself and others.

When you're facing a big issue, it can be very helpful to come back to each of the Reiki ideals and allow their wisdom to guide you to a more restful frame of mind. When you're able to come back to that space of clarity, it's much easier to see what your best action will be.

When we're in the grips of anger, it is very difficult to know what the best action is because we become erratic and explosive. We still need to feel and acknowledge that anger, but we need to put it to work for us in a way that will be constructive and productive to our ultimate goals.

This can be difficult when it involves somebody we care about because we have anger but also vulnerability and maybe worry. When you work through the Reiki ideals step by step, all the way to kindness, you end up getting clarity and peace along the way. So that when you take action, which anger requires, you are taking the best action possible that will help the situation and bring harmony to yourself and others.

You can learn more about the Reiki ideals in Geneva's book The Secret Art of Happiness: How to Change Your Life with the Reiki Ideals.

How does this sit with you?If you found the tips in this episode helpful and resonated with Paula's experience, we encourage you to leave a comment on the blog sharing your thoughts and insights. Do you find your energy merging with other people? What has helped you get clear?

Send us your own questions or topics you'd like us to address in a future episode. Leave us a quick voice memo on our SpeakPipe page. Your input and questions are valuable, and we look forward to continuing this conversation with you in our upcoming episodes.

Reiki for Kids' Spiritual Well-BeingReiki helps kids in the same way it helps adults; they get a chance to ground their energy, feel calmer, and have good energetic boundaries. We offer Reiki sessions for kids, babies, and teens at LunaHolistic. Create a profile for your child on our booking page and then you can book them in for a session. You can stay in the room with them as they receive their session or wait in our reception area with a warm cup of tea. We let the child decide what makes them feel most comfortable.

Grounding Technique for ChildrenListen to the end of the episode for an active meditation technique you can do with your kids: the Rainbow Tree meditation. It helps to settle sensitive children and is wonderful right before bedtime or after school. You guide them to balance their chakras, ground, and fill their aura with light.

You stand up and together pretend you are trees! Then, you fill each chakra with a specific colour of light and imagine a bubble of white light surrounding the body. This practice is wonderful self-care for kids, as it helps them move and settle their energy and promotes a sense of safety. It helps children to connect with the earth and feel more centred.

The Rainbow Tree meditation can help reduce nightmares and provide a sense of calm and grounding. Use it in the morning to help manage anxiety and set a positive tone for the day.

Reiki Experiences and Parenting Self-LoveReiki helps kids to feel calm, connected, and emotionally regulated. And it's also great for parents too! Reiki can be a valuable resource for parents to better support their children and manage their own emotions. Getting your own Reiki session as a parent can help you feel centred even on the busiest day, and your kids definitely will like that!

Reiki Courses and Spiritually Sensitive ChildrenLearning Reiki is also a great skill for a parent to have, not only for your own wellness but to model the self-care you want your kids to do. Children don't do what you say; they do what you do. So, if you have a self-care and meditation practice, they will be more likely to develop one as well.

While we don't yet have courses for children, teens 16 years old and up are welcome in our Reiki courses with parental approval. Stay tuned!

Many parents in our courses mention how much their kids love getting Reiki from them. In the second level of Reiki, we teach you to do sessions for others. Practicing Reiki on your kids is a wonderful way of providing care, comfort, and support.

Whether you are creating a piece of writing, art, or a business, moving from the first idea to the finished product is very similar. Getting a creative work started is often more about getting past the nerves of stepping into the unknown. It is all about staying with the idea and just beginning to sketch it out.

In the middle of a creative work is where things can get stuck for many people. You start with great gusto and then hit a snag, or a delay, or life turns you around. Doubts can creep in and you question if it is really worth it. That is when it is best to get grounded and go back to the energy that started it all.

Set aside your fears of what might happen or how people will receive the work and simply take small, little steps. Even just five minutes at a time is enough to get things moving again. Even just sitting with the work and being with it without trying to DO anything is enough. It starts tapping you back into the creative flow, and that energy can carry you through or around all obstacles.

What to do when you feel the Universe is Picking on YouThe first step is to get yourself into a state of calm, or at least calmer! If you're really agitated, then the reframing and introspective techniques are difficult to access. The tide of emotions is just too strong, and the next bit will just frustrate you rather than free you, which is the whole idea of this process, anyway.

It is okay to feel all of the feelings when things are not going your way. Instead of pushing those feelings down or feeding them with ruminating thoughts, try to focus on the physical sensations in the body. Notice where you feel tight or clenched and let it all go with big sighs of relief. Stay present and notice your breath and energy without trying to change it at first. Just make room for all the feelings to have space and receive comfort. It will be difficult to look at any deeper patterns in this situation until you are calm and grounded. So take a moment to simply feel everything without judgment. Just make space for it all to be.

Making space for your FeelingsWhen the energy is high in a situation, usually more thinking won't calm you down. Instead of thinking your way through it, try feeling it all instead. Our minds create thoughts that either feed the anger or try to suppress it. But if you direct your focus on the feeling sensations in the body, it creates space and awareness of where your energy is at.

Get yourself to a safe space. Sit down if you can and turn anything off that creates a distraction or disruption. Screens off. Music off. Phone off. Unplug from the external and give yourself a calm, quiet space.

Spend a few minutes just noticing the energy in the body. Are some places hot? cold? buzzing? smooth? What is the quality or texture of the sensations? Are you holding your breath? Clenching your jaw? Notice where in the body each thought is living. How is your body holding this experience?

At first, don't try to shift or change anything you are feeling. Just make a safe space for each sensation and practice turning your focus towards the body and away from the thoughts or situation at hand.

Everything you feel is okay.

There are no judgements or labels at this step. Just space, and awareness, and breath.

You might like the Releasing Anger Meditation to help you through the strong energy and make space for your feelings. Or the video "How do you release anger from your energy?" can help walk you through this process.

Shifting your Energy through GroundingNow, move into grounding. We've got a Grounding Meditation that can help you connect to the Earth. But mainly, you can go for a walk outside or connect to the present moment by allowing your energy to balance with the flow of energy from the Earth. Just take a few settling breaths and let your energy flow down your body and through your feet.

It is happening FOR you, not TO you. How to See the Bigger Picture.Ask yourself, "What is the hidden gift here?"; "What if the outer world pattern is mirrored by the inner world pattern?"

This is what I do when I see an outer world pattern, and I suspect that the Universe may be picking on me. You can take it or leave it. It's just something to ponder. I always think that if I see something happening on repeat outside of me, then I will look to see if that pattern is mine. Is that happening within me? Or is there some way that I am also doing that behaviour?

For example, if I'm frustrated because someone isn't getting back to me, I'll look to see if I need to return someone else's message. Am I not getting back to someone?

Then, I leave the initial situation alone and just go do my work. I'll contact the people I need to contact, and I'll correct my own behaviour rather than try to get someone else to change (since that is impossible).

I look for the pattern in other areas, too. Is there somewhere else in my life that the same thing is happening, and I'm not seeing it? Maybe it's part of a larger pattern. Maybe it goes way back to childhood and isn't really about the present situation at all. If that is the case, I'll do some Reiki on my inner child and take care of myself with gentleness.

It is impossible for the Universe to pick on you.Even though it might feel like you're being thwarted, the Universe is actually full of love and supports you through all kinds of situations.

If you've been redirected by the Universe, look for the magic it is pushing you towards. The hidden benefit of the feeling that the Universe is picking on you is that it immediately takes you out of autopilot so you can look deeper into your patterns and your life.

When you look deeper into the patterns, it gives you an opportunity to see where you can focus your healing efforts. Then you start shifting your energy and that is when the magic starts happening.

Any change to your inner pattern will have a ripple effect through the quantum nature of the Universe. If you change, the pattern has to shift.

This helps you take back the power where you can. You always have control over your thoughts, feelings, and actions. This helps you let go of control over everything else.

Using the Reiki Ideals to shift your point of attractionI also go to the Reiki ideals like a baby blanket. I grab onto them and let them comfort me. I use them to give me space to acknowledge how I'm feeling, where I might feel stuck or scared and then start bringing in a new energy.

The five Reiki Ideals are: let go of anger; let go of worry; be grateful; do your spiritual work; and be kind. When you put them all together, they are The Secret Art of Happiness.

In particular, when I get stuck, this is how I work through the Reiki Ideals when I feel like I'm blocked or stuck in quantum weirdness.

  • I let go of anger and frustration (easier when I see that I also sometimes behave that way or that there is something important to learn).
  • I let go of worry (that this will always keep happening or because it is because of me for some reason. It's not.)
  • I become grateful (maybe this is actually a positive thing, and it is helping me in some way that I can't see yet)
  • I do my work ( I meditate and do Reiki and focus on what I want, my intention. I remember that I am a powerful manifestor and I can change my vibration in an instant)
  • I lean into kindness ( I am gentle with myself about the whole situation. I see myself in the other, and I'm kind to them. They are doing their best, and it's okay that it isn't what I'd prefer. If I need to speak up I will, but with a calm and clear energy.)

I look for the positives because the negatives dig me in and make the pattern worse. I clear the energy and do an energetic reset. Then, after I've done all that, that's when I see if I need to make any changes. If I leap to making changes before I do the inner work, I'm just too reactive, and it doesn't work out well. But if I do Reiki, meditate, ask my Divine Team about it, and do a check of the Reiki ideals, then I'm clear. I make more grounded changes when I'm grounded.

Be kind to the part of yourself that is reacting to the situation. Everything you feel is okay.

Try a few moments of listing out what you're grateful for that you are maybe taking for granted, like clean water to drink and fresh air to breathe. It's tiny but creates big shifts.

Even grumpy gratitude is still gratitude, and it has the power to change everything. Gratitude puts you in the energy of creativity and problem-solving. Then, the way forward often opens up.

Take care of your energy First so you can take care of othersAre you in high demand? Chances are that you have many people who rely on you on a daily basis. You might be the glue holding it all together. This is why it is so very important to tend to your own energy, because what happens to those you are caring for if something happens to you? Yikes!

Often, highly sensitive and empathic people get drawn into roles where they are helping others, in the family or workplace or both. This is not a bad thing, not at all. Being in a place of your best service to the world usually brings a high degree of peace to helpers and healers. But even though you love helping, it can drain your energy if you're not careful or if the demands increase suddenly, like during a water main break or family crisis.

We have several tools that can help if this sounds like you!

Good Boundaries are your Love ContainerThe first place to start is quite practical, but maybe the hardest, healthy boundaries! How do you keep your energy in? Boundaries baby!

Boundaries are simply saying no to things that are a 'no' to you and yes to things that are a 'yes.' Just this one move can return a lot of joy and peace. Even if it is hard to say no, it is necessary to reserve your energy for where it is needed most. Often, it's more of a case of saying 'not right now' and prioritizing requests.

This is actually the most kind and loving thing you can do because if many people are depending on you, you need to keep a focus on the greater vision. You have to take steps to conserve your energy and have moments of true rest and recharge if you are to remain in your best service.

Great resources for boundaries:

Trilotherapy - a series of guided workshops to balance the mind and the emotions with your true self, your centre.

The Art of Extreme Self Care by Cheryl Richardson - a fantastic book filled with examples of how to say a kind 'no'.

Meditation is the Foundation of Your EnergyWe cannot recommend meditation enough. This is a primary tool to reset your mind, heart, and energy. It's a way to clear out the energy of the day so you can recharge. Meditation forms the core of our practice and it can be a huge help even if you feel like your mind will not stop its chatter.

Try a guided meditation as a starting point. Do not worry if you're thinking a lot in the meditation at first; that is normal; minds like to think. Just stay still, close your eyes for a few minutes, and relax all the muscles you can. Put on the guided meditation and just let yourself float on the words.

Every time you meditate, you are dropping out of the fight-flight-freeze zone and back into the rest and digest part of your nervous system. So you can't do it wrong! Just allow each experience to be unique and approach your whole practice with gentle curiosity.

Great resources for meditation:

Lightworker Activation Meditation - This one is like a pressure wash for your energy! You'll feel clear and relaxed afterwards.

Self-Healing Meditation - This is a short guided self-healing practice. Even if you don't know Reiki, it will bring balance and calm to your nervous system and clear your aura.

Aura Flame Meditation - This one is like a gentle yet powerful cleansing of any energy that might be stuck to you. You'll feel at peace and empowered after just 30 minutes.

Grounding Meditation - Let everything get settled and connect to the earth in this grounding meditation.

Bedtime Meditation - If you have trouble winding down at night, the Bedtime Meditation will help you settle into a state of rest.

Clear your Aura to Take Care of Your EnergyProbably our favourite way to keep our energy clear is Reiki! But even if you don't know Reiki, you are able to bring energy and light around you just by thinking about it. As soon as you shift your focus to the energy around your body being bright, strong, and clear, so it is!

Of course, taking a Level I Reiki course is highly recommended if you are on the front lines in your work or family life, but until then, you can spend a few minutes each morning simply visualizing an orb of beautiful clear light around you. On the outer edge of this bubble, visualize or intend a violet boundary around your personal space. Try it for a week and see how it goes!

Your aura is an important part of your energy anatomy! It is the field of energy that surrounds and protects you. When your aura is strong, you are able to stay steady and clear even if everyone else is in a high state of distress and chaos. Your aura prevents you from being bombarded by other people's energy and is so important for highly sensitive empaths.

Your aura is your energy container!

Meet Your Team - Connect to Your GuidesIn the Meet Your Team Session, you will receive help connecting with your Spirit guides, ascended masters, and angels. We help you relax into a soul-level meeting place in a deep meditation that will allow you to create a strong connection with your spiritual team.

This connection goes with you! Many people report feeling strongly connected to their guidance and following the session. You get profound insights in this session, and you can ask your team any question you like to get their direct insights. You can also find out what spiritual beings are working with you to help you on your path.

We do the whole session within a Reiki setting so that Pure Source Energy keeps the connection in the highest vibration. Only the best and brightest may enter and share in these sessions.

Your practitioner will guide you through a brief Reiki session before the meditation journey, aiding you in achieving a meditative state. As you are prompted by your practitioner, you will share your answers to the questions out loud. Feel free to bring a list of questions or discussion topics, and we will consult your spiritual team about each one.

Even people who find it difficult to meditate have been able to make solid connections with their Spirit guides and Divine Team. The results have been amazing, and people leave feeling solace and support from the interactions.

Meet Your Loved One - Love is the BridgeThe Meet Your Loved One Session is a beautiful journey to connect with someone who has passed away. Our loved ones survive death, and their consciousness continues, held in the Universal Energy of Source.

In the session, you and your practitioner will chat for a bit about who you wish to meet. If the grief is strong, we can do a bit of Reiki beforehand. The gentle energy of Reiki can help create a bridge of love so you can connect to your loved one and chat with them. The peace and comfort of these sessions are profound.

You get an opportunity to ask questions and receive answers from your loved one. You reach a new understanding of their lives and an expanded awareness of the true peace and love they are living in every day, no matter the circumstances of their life or death. That clarity helps you feel more connected to the great love you share. This connection often soothes some of the grief that is felt when someone special dies.

You also get clarity on the preciousness of life and insight into what really matters as you continue your journey on Earth. The Meet Your Loved One session is close to the heart and helps you make a lasting connection to your loved one.

Creative Manifesting - Align with SourceCreative Manifesting sessions are a wonderful way to explore what you want to manifest in the world. We connect to Source energy with Reiki, which helps you manifest your dreams faster and with greater ease. You can also gain clarity and wisdom about the Divine implications of your manifestations.

How does your desire align with the desire of Source? When you are in harmony with what Source wants for all of us, the manifestations occur with ease. Reiki powerfully harmonizes you with the Law of Attraction, and when you are in alignment, everything begins to flow to you.

In the session, you gain clarity about what may be blocking your goals and desires from coming to you. You get a powerful focus around the energy of your intention, which helps you fine-tune your creative manifesting. When you are clear, you charge your idea with sustained energy to manifest with ease.

You can also preview much of your manifested plan to see if any changes are needed for your vision. Co-created dreams manifest faster. Understanding the positive ripple effect of you getting what you want is liberating and joyful.

When your work, goal, or dream helps everyone, it manifests faster than you can believe. Your wish is the answer to someone else's prayers, creating a powerful flow of energy that aligns everything with ease.

Pattern Healing - Rewrite the AutopilotThe Pattern Healing session helps you clear numbing or avoiding patterns that are blocking you from positive habits like exercise, good nutrition, meditation, or other self-care you wish to be part of your daily routine.

When you identify these old patterns, you can release them through the powerful combo of Reiki and a custom-guided meditation. You clear the old pattern through by simply replacing it with the energy of the new pattern or habit. This is done on an energetic level, bringing amazing results to your life.

Often, we get stuck simply because the old habit is on autopilot. Old patterns simply repeat, especially when you're tired or stressed. The autopilot kicks in, and you're in the old pattern without even realizing it.

The Pattern Healing session helps you to integrate that new energy into your subconscious mind so the autopilot will lead you towards a healthy and joyful pattern instead of the old ways. You get to remap your life and align with the positive new space you want to be in all the time.

Reiki Brings Transformation on All LevelsReiki provides a powerful and energizing space for healing, connection, and growth. A single Reiki session can activate, clear, and harmonize you with your team, loved ones, dreams, and healthy habits.

Each Special Session gives you a totally custom and interactive meditative journey and a sustaining boost from Reiki so that the effects and connections continue long after the session. You can enhance your gifts and talents on the spiritual level and also activate practical changes in your day-to-day life. Each session brings peace and joy into every part of your life.

In this podcast episode, Kim Star joins Geneva Robins to chat about new and powerful sessions at LunaHolistic, our Special Sessions! Part one discusses the life-changing magic of Multi-Generational Healing Sessions and Past Life Healing Sessions.

In our next episode, airing on May 15th, we'll share more about our Creative Manifesting Session, Meet Your Loved One Session, Pattern Healing Session, and Meet Your Team Session. It is powerful and transformative work, and we're so excited to bring it to you.

What could two and a half hours do for you?A potent combo of guided visualization, custom guided meditation, and a Reiki healing session immerses you in a healing landscape of the soul with your skilled guide, Geneva, who helps you clear ancient patterns and beliefs that hold you back.

Our Special Sessions at LunaHolistic are massive, and they are also incredibly beautiful and transformative. Led by Geneva, a seasoned Reiki master with over a decade of experience, each session is a unique journey of self-discovery and healing. We start with a brief chat to understand your needs, followed by a custom-guided meditation experience within the context of Reiki. This process helps the energy flow and open, creating a space for you to deeply heal and change old patterns and limiting beliefs.

Multi-Generational Healing SessionOur Multi-Generational Healing Sessions offer a unique opportunity for you to engage in a loving conversation with an ancestor. This conversation is a powerful tool for releasing any trauma you might be holding and receiving generational gifts. We guide you to the soul plane, a meeting place of high vibration, where you can release anything that might have been inherited through the family line. This process is effective for both adopted and genetic families, focusing on healing energy patterns. We provide the support you need to hold that energy steady, allowing you to connect in this healing space.

We help you put together an energetic family tree and select an ancestor connected to any family pattern you wish to release. In the guided meditation, you hand back any patterns you might be holding in the form of a gift, maybe even what your ancestor needed at that time. You learn more about what generational gifts, skills, and talents that ancestor might have for you.

You understand what you're holding and have a healing space to release it. The whole experience is divinely led, and you get a fresh set of eyes to look at things in a new way. You leave with compassion for both you and your family. In these experiences, your highest self can also speak to you to guide you to the best healing plan going forward. The joy and positivity that flow from these sessions are just so profound and help clear blocks and any lingering limiting beliefs.

Past Life Healing SessionWe have many past lives, and in each of them, we have patterns of behaviour and possibly traumatic experiences that could influence our present-day lives. We also have wisdom from all of these lives. When you heal the trauma, no matter how long it has been there, you're left with all the gifts, skills, and wisdom.

In our past-life healing sessions, you get clear, and all of those gifts, talents and skills you once had come forward in your present life in a remarkable healing way.

Past-life healing is especially wonderful if you find yourself in a karmic loop, where you are in repetitive patterns or situations that seem to have no clear cause in your current life. If you notice that there are patterns in your life that are on repeat, say you've had the same kind of relationship over and over, or the same kind of situation keeps popping up in your job even when you change careers or even change locations, these sessions help you get out of those loops. You get a big boost of healing energy and a fresh new energy pattern.

We are on a spiritual voyage through time. All moments of time are connected through the present, that powerful NOW moment. In the past life guided meditation we create for you in the healing session, you connect to that powerful and present NOW moment, which helps you connect to your past lives. And when you do, you help clear fears that have been present and clear any karmic patterns or loops. Those qualities and skills you had in a past life you can bring forward into your present life. The sessions help you reconnect to past knowledge; with that connection, you gain a deep healing and connection to the wisdom of your soul.

Connect, Heal, and ClearYou can heal the past no matter how long ago it all was. We go beyond time and space to create a massive healing wave in each of these sessions, the multi-generational healing session and the past life session. It brings so much understanding and insight. All of the lives heal and are connected to one life that heals. All this work is about what moves you forward, and we deeply believe you can heal anything holding back your light. You will leave our sessions feeling radiant, fulfilled, and illuminated, ready to embrace a new chapter of your life.

In this podcast episode, Rita Reddy and Geneva Robins share their heartfelt experiences with grief and how Reiki helps grief to ease. Learn how Reiki can fit into your self-care plan while coping with loss.

Reiki is very gentle and helps to provide a caring and nurturing space for all kinds of strong emotions, including grief. As part of an overall care plan for grief, Reiki works very well when combined with therapy, family and friend support, and other forms of wellness like exercise and meditation.

When the emotions are very strong, as they are in the acute stages of grief, it can be very difficult to access the healing benefits of meditation. Reiki can help calm the mind and provide that centring focus when the tide of feeling is strong. You and your practitioner set an intention at the beginning of your Reiki session, and this is the energy that is held for you. In the session, your practitioner holds that focus on your intention and helps hold space for balancing and harmonizing with this energy.

Sometimes, you might have a powerful emotional release. It is not uncommon for people to cry during their sessions, especially when they are processing grief. You might find that you feel a lot during the session, but you leave feeling slightly better than before. A powerful clearing and processing can occur in Reiki sessions, helping move stuck emotional energy and bringing a greater feeling of groundedness and peace.

Of course, if the grief is very strong or is accompanied by trauma or PTSD symptoms, we highly recommend therapy as a primary tool for your well-being during your grieving process.

Some Resources for Grief:We have many tools we’re fond of in addition to Reiki. Here are a few mentioned in this episode:

  • The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale
  • EMDR therapy and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
  • The Big Snit – National Film Board of Canada
  • Grounding Meditation
  • Bedtime Meditation
  • Infinite Universe Meditation

The Hidden Beauty of GriefLove is the emotion under grief. When we lose someone dear to us, the pain is enormous beyond words. This strong feeling is often a direct match to how much we love them. The love we feel for the people who have passed emerges more and more as we slowly heal from the anguish of their passing. This keenly-felt emotion wakes us up to the fragile beauty of life and how nothing is guaranteed.

The vulnerable uncertainty of life is highlighted when we lose someone close and makes us ponder the deeper meaning and purpose of our own lives. This energy can help give us more motivation to be present and attentive to those who survive with us.

We can notice the beautiful subtlety of each sunrise with a renewed sense of awe and wonder as we watch the peach hues soften into warm oranges and vermillion-tinged clouds spread across an indigo sky. We notice the delightful sweet chirps of birds on still morning air and savour the first sips of coffee as the light of dawn stretches across the heavens. We are alive.

On a personal note:I don’t think I really noticed so much beauty in the daily and ordinary as I did after losing people I love dearly. All of a sudden, I started paying attention to the life I was living and lost my fears and petty grievances. In exchange, I took hold of the life I had and loved every part of it to the fullest I could muster. This embracing of life following loss radically transformed my career path, leaving behind my science job for a career in Reiki. I put full effort into LunaHolistic and created the Reiki courses.

And, most importantly, I started paying attention during every moment with my loved ones. I put down distractions to be with them and make memories together. I’m not 100 percent mindful; I’m still human. But it was a powerful shift in my relationships and my ability to be present with others rather than avoiding or numbing out during interactions. I wouldn’t choose grief, not at all, but it did give me some powerful lessons about the value and preciousness of life and how sacred each moment can be.

Death is part of life. One is always connected to the other. So, too, is grief; it’s part of life and part of loving and being loved. When the pain of grief is processed, all that remains is love.

Yes! Affirmations work! That's our short answer to this very big question. Angela Hoogeveen joins Geneva Robins in this episode to share their experiences with how affirmations have worked in their lives to move forward, lift fear, and decrease pain of all kinds.

Listen on Apple Podcasts or Spotify!

If you only use an affirmation once or twice, it's not as likely to turn the tide of negative thinking. Affirmations work best when you repeat them frequently until you experience relief. That relief might be in your mind and emotions at first, but sometimes, it will shift the energy and biochemical state in your body so much that your body is able to heal.

All is well in my world.
Everything is working out for my Highest Good.
Out of this situation, only Good will come.
I am Safe.

~ Louise Hay ~

Resources for your Affirmation WorkWe share a couple of fantastic resources in this episode. Our first and go-to affirmation resource is You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay. This is a fantastic read and is one book that we recommend be on everyone's bookshelf. Louise Hay is a pioneer of affirmation work and guides you through how to apply affirmative thinking in every corner of your life. We love it so much it is a textbook for our Reiki Courses.

If you're interested in the science behind why affirmations have an effect on the body, a wonderful resource is The Molecules of Emotion by Candace Pert. This book discusses how Dr. Pert was part of a team that discovered the endorphin receptor and goes on to share how information chemicals are linked to emotional states.

We also discuss how the Affirmation Ladder process in The Secret Art of Happiness by Geneva Robins can help you work with affirmations in tiny little steps rather than hopping straight to a strongly positive statement. You can get to that positive mindset in small statements that ease you forward just a little bit at a time.

Another great resource is tapping or EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), where you tap gently on acupressure points while repeating statements that start with what you are currently feeling and thinking and move your way to more and more positive statements. The app The Tapping Solution is wonderful for decreasing anxiety and creating a sense of calm.

We use affirmations all the time in our Reiki sessions. Reiki is a powerful way of accessing a deep meditative state. When you are in that state, affirmations can go right into your subconscious to promote well-being on all levels.

How does this sit with you?How does this all resonate? How do you use affirmations as part of your self-care? Leave us a comment or drop us a line at our website: https://www.lunaholistic.com/podcast/

How do I connect to the Angels? If anyone else can connect to the angels or their spiritual team, why not you? This was the idea that motivated my spiritual journey to expand my intuition. As I connected to my Reiki practice, I expanded my connection to spiritual guidance. Reiki has a way of opening up the channels to universal life force energy, and with that connection flows not just energy but also information.

With time and practice, you can learn to have conversations with any spiritual being with whom you have a connection. Getting clear energetically with the Reiki self-healing you learn in our Level I course helps you get clearer messages and strengthens your intuition. There is also a question-and-answer practice and divine connection meditation in my book The Secret Art of Happiness that helps you strengthen your connection to your higher being and Divine Team.

How long does it take for Reiki to work?It does really depend on the person and the situation, of course, but many people feel calmer and more centred right away after a Reiki session. A willingness to change is also a big factor as that helps to mobilize an energy to help clear out the old and welcome the new. Some people feel changes right away; sometimes, it can take a few sessions. Each session creates a momentum behind it that really helps to build on the energy shifts of the one before.

Usually, I recommend getting two or three sessions about a week apart if you're dealing with something acute that is bothering you a lot. Then, as things calm, you can space them out every month or two just to keep everything flowing and open. By the end of three sessions, you'll have a good idea of how Reiki works for you and where it fits into your self-care plan.

What do you wear to Reiki?Wear comfortable clothes to your Reiki session or Reiki class. Reiki is fully clothed on a standard massage table, so you can wear what you feel most cozy in. If you're coming straight from work, that's no problem, just wear what you have on! We've got lots of blankets and pillows, so you'll be warm and comfy.

Reiki class is the same! Just be comfortable and wear what makes you feel happy.

What does seeing a purple light in Reiki mean?Purple is the colour of the crown chakra and usually indicates a spiritual connection to an energy that is protective, loving, and pure. So if you're seeing purple in a meditation or Reiki session, most often that means that you are connected to source energy or that universal life force.

In our work with Reiki, we use a practice called the Violet Breath that keeps the energy clear and straight from Source. Your practitioner is guiding the Reiki energy from the Universe to where you need it. Seeing a purple colour often means that the session is helping you connect to that pure and protective energy.

Who invented Reiki?Master Mikao Usui lived in Japan from 1865 to 1926 and is the founder of the Usui Shiki Ryoho System of Natural Healing, the form of Reiki we practice at LunaHolistic. Master Usui studied a Buddhist Qigong practice, and after a 21-day meditation at the base of a waterfall on Mount Kurama, he got the insight for the creation of the Reiki system of natural healing. All of our Reiki practitioners can trace their lineage back to Master Usui.

Can Reiki treat Depression?IMPORTANT: Depression is a life-threatening illness, and it is very important that you have a good support team of medical and mental health specialists to help you. If you live in Alberta, you can call 988 for suicide prevention and 211 for access to a 24-hour support line and other social support services like shelters and emergency child care.

Reiki can be a wonderful addition to your care plan for depression. Some people feel a lifting of their spirits right away, and others find that a series of Reiki sessions are helpful. Reiki is much like a facilitated meditation, so you can get help getting into that calm mental state and get some support as you learn to practice meditation and grounding techniques. We hold the energy steady for you so you can harmonize with the feeling you want, peaceful, calm and grounded.

Of course, big problems require a big team, and we often work with therapists to help support people with a variety of mental health challenges. If you're looking for a therapist in the local Calgary area, we recommend Joanna Card or Leah Thompson. They are both wonderful therapists. We highly encourage you to find a qualified therapist in your area if you are struggling with depression or think you might be.

What does Reiki feel like?Warm and cozy! You can sometimes feel a buzzing or tingling or a deep sense of calm or peace. Some people fall asleep! You can feel the heat from the practitioner's hands (our hands heat up a lot from Reiki) and even the continued feeling of the hand even after the practitioner has moved on. It's pretty cool.

Most people feel a deep sense of calm. They feel more grounded and centred, and that feeling can last for days to weeks after the session.

What is Reiki good for?Reiki is fantastic for relieving stress-linked conditions. You get help to drop out of the fight-flight response and into the relaxed parasympathetic part of your nervous system. That restful state is where the body can heal itself. You often get insight into the mind-body connection and an awareness of how events in your life may relate to your physical well-being.

We set an intention before every Reiki session, which changes the focus of the energy healing. You can set your intention to be for anything you like as long as it is positively worded and just about you. Reiki can help with past life healing, releasing patterns and unwanted habits, multigenerational healing, connecting to your spiritual team and angels, manifesting abundance, or connecting to your life purpose.

Compassion is a way out of ResistanceWhen the pattern is harsh, the solution is gentleness. The resistance pops up the most when the thing we want to do has the potential to change us. There is a hyperactive protective ego that gets engaged so that we don't change anything. To the ego, any change is viewed as dangerous, even if your actions are positive, like exercise or meditation.

What if resistance is simply fearfulness of our inner child? If that's the case, then we have to be gentle with that tender part of you, much like how the only antidote to shame is empathy.

Curiosity and Adventure as a Path ForwardTaking small and healthy risks can help stretch your comfort zone. When you begin moving forward in small steps, you gain courage, and in that space, you get momentum going. Approaching your new behaviours with a sense of adventure can sometimes lower the fear of the new.

Even if you still feel resistance, even a tiny move is still helping you make progress. Comfort your nervous system with something nourishing, like a cup of tea or a fuzzy blanket, and then make another step. Bringing true kindness to the resistance you feel can powerfully shift you into a new flow of energy.

The Creative Cycle is a Natural CycleThinking of your creativity as a cycle can be liberating. Sometimes, we think of creative projects as a linear process with a strict first-next-then series of steps that must proceed at a set timing in order. But what if it is a cycle instead? What if the pause of a project or a slowdown is just a redirection of the creative energy to other areas.

Slumbering creativity is nothing to fear. The waking is a natural part of the slumbering process.

The Hidden Benefits of a Creative SlumberJust like with actual sleep, having space and time to rest and dream are important. Sometimes, the creative work needs to be incubated a bit longer. Tools and resources need to be gathered. Sometimes, the creative energy is being used in other ways, like physical and emotional healing.

Respect this need for rest and consider ways this phase of your creative cycle may actually be enhancing the final product. Many accomplished artists and writers take decades to create some of their work. Leonardo da Vinci took 25 years to finish one painting. Laura Hillenbrand took seven years to write Unbroken. The final piece can sometimes benefit from a long incubation.

While that process is occurring, get yourself to your tools. Handle the physical objects you use to create. Just get yourself there daily and let yourself dabble and play. Even a trip to the dollar store for new materials can open things up and get you in the place where the work can occur.

Helpful tips to clear a Creative BlockMeditation to Wake upMeditation is a huge help to free up a creative block. Rita spends a few minutes a day meditating before journalling. Even the briefest pause when you catch yourself numbing or delaying can be a beautiful invitation to meditate. Just 30 seconds to close your eyes and mindfully breathe can put you on a new creative track.

Getting out of the intellectual side of the brain and into the interested and creative side can be helped by meditation. Meditating shifts our consciousness, restores energy and naturally boosts creativity. This also happens with Reiki self-healing too. Try the Self-Healing Meditation to get the flow going.

Be Curious Like a ChildPlayfulness and curiosity are key to gently reawakening the flow of energy in your creative work. Sure, you could set a loud alarm and push yourself back to the task. But that might cause an inner rebellion that puts you straight back to a grumpy sleep. What if you can instead use things that spark joy and playfulness?

Creativity rides on energy. So, if we do things that spark joy and fun, energy gets released that ultimately rekindles the work. Think of it as a gentle invitation back to the creative process. Sometimes, working at a tangent is best. Try new things. Explore new media and let yourself dabble your way back into the stuff you actually love to do.

Connect to Inspiring PeopleDoing a bit of research can be a gentle way of catching the energy of making. Watch videos of people in other fields of creativity to side-step the inner comparing critic. There's a really cool documentary called The Colour of Ink; it's a fascinating watch.

Get out of your house and go to live performances. There are often free or low-cost concerts and recitals happening in the community. Geneva went to one by Mustafa Kamaliddin, a Renaissance ukulele musician. Being near other creative folks can sometimes inspire you to do your own brave and new ideas.

Wandering through a gallery or going to a book reading at your local library can be wonderful ways to spark a return of your creative wakefulness. This can be part of the Artist Dates that Julia Cameron encourages in her book The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity.

Reiki and Energetic Eight CoachingReiki can also help creative slumbers. The energy around a creative block can be painful and many-layered. Getting a bit of energetic help can help you balance your sacral chakra, the energy centre that is the birthplace of creativity.

Geneva also supports creative folks through Energetic Eight Coaching to help you connect to your source of inspiration and take those baby steps to make your creative work real.

Blanket Forts! The Best Way to Clear a Creative BlockOf course, this is the best solution of all -- Blanket forts! Creative dreams need a safe and protected space to incubate them. We fully support adult-sized forts of all kinds! In fact, we might be in one right now. What way can you bring that energy of that safe container for your creativity forward?

Maybe it's a weighted blanket on your lap while you do a bit of blogging. Maybe you can put on a cozy hoodie (with the hood pulled up, of course) to have a portable blanket fort. Maybe a special piece of jewelry or crystal on your desk at work. Maybe a sign you put up on your studio door or workspace that gives you permission to just play with the materials and test things out.

Resources to help you with the Change in Seasons:Here are a few of the resources we share in this episode:

The Work by Byron Katie

Embracing Change with the Apple Tree Cycle podcast episode with Rita Reddy

Grounding Meditation

Infinite Universe Meditation

Creative Manifesting Workshop Meditation

Mini Retreats and our new sessions of Past-Life Healing, Multigenerational Healing, and Creative Manifesting Sessions (upcoming).

Acceptance and Gratitude ease ChangeOne of the biggest helps for us is simply acceptance of the changes each season brings. This includes changes in the seasons of our lives too! Taking a few moments to stop resisting the change before us and accepting that it is happening provides a big relief. so much energy can go into resisting a change!

Trying to control the outcome of the change and transition can wear us out. But the beautiful thing is that this extra energy all can come back to you in a moment of presence and grounding. Try our Grounding Meditation on Insight Timer to help you catch your breath.

Manage your Energy rather than your TimeThe change of season invites reflection and going deeper into your spiritual work. This includes having a moment to review and revise your self-care routine to ensure you are recharging your energy throughout your day and week so you can keep up with your busy schedule.

Focus on routines that help your thrive. Even a few moments of self-care will help you manage the shift of routine. Reiki and meditation are wonderful because they give you a massive dose of energy in just a few minutes. Try our Self-Healing Meditation to give yourself a quick five-minute boost anytime of day.

Nature helps us to HealThe grounding and rooting energy of the fall helps you plan and prepare. If brings you back to your root chakra and emphasizes what makes you feel safe and secure. Sometimes this energy also can bring up old mucky stuff and emotion. If this happens for you around this time of year, that's okay. It's perfectly normal to feel this way. Be very gentle and kind to yourself when you're in any kind of transition.

Give yourself extra rest if you need it. Let go of things you no longer need, including any harmful, self-critical thoughts or patterns of worry. One helpful resource for this is the gentle questioning of your thoughts with The Work by Byron Katie. This is a journalling process that lets you become curious about what thoughts are helping you and which you can let drop, just like the leaves of fall.

The Magic of the In-BetweenThe middle point of a transition like the change in seasons, is also a prime time for manifesting. It's like the normal rules loosen their grip on you for a few weeks and in the middle times, when things are neither here nor there, you have access to a towering energy field of pure potential energy.

If you find yourself in the in-between, you might really like two of our meditations, the Creative Manifesting Workshop Meditation and the Manifesting Miracles Meditation.

In this podcast episode, Geneva Robins and Raven Healey chat about past-life healing and how Reiki can help release trauma stored in time. It's kinda wild, but past life memories and stored trauma can come up and be released and healed through a Reiki session.

Reiki is beyond time and space. It doesn't matter when any trauma has happened, even if it is in a past-life. Trauma and karmic patterns can hold you in a loop of behaviour and situations. Reiki can help break you out of that loop and see it from the outside.

Reiki can be a psychic tow truck!Past-life journeys and meditations can bring up very old patterns that might be repeated in your current life. Reiki helps to release those energies even the energetic forms of shackles or other images of harm. When those energies are lifted, people often feel free and clear in a brand new way.

Since Reiki is Universal Life Force Energy, it is inherently beyond time and space. It helps us access not only energy, but also information. All the information that exists is held within this energy and when we get into the right headspace, we can understand it. Its the same energy field that holds the Akashic Records, which is an information source some healers and teachers talk about as a way to understand this field of information.

Past-Life memories happen nowTime is a construct. All time is happening in the eternal now. When we do past-life work we connect to all moments of 'now' present time. We access the now-moment that happened in a past-life that is meaningful for you now. Its sort of like a super-mindfulness trick to get there! In our sessions, we help you remember lives that are useful to you.

You can test this out now in the Past-Life Wisdom Meditation. If you love the Insight Timer App, this meditation is there!

When you clear the karmic wounds you get access to all the knowledge you had in a past-life. It integrates and all that wisdom can be accessed by you now.

In this episode, learn how to access your intuition and wise guidance. Rita Reddy and Geneva Robins share their top tips to connect to your inner wisdom.

Come to StillnessTaking time to centre yourself with a few breaths can help you tune in. Being in stillness, preferably in nature, can calm the sensory overload that can block your awareness of your inner space. Even a few slow breaths can calm the tension in the body.

Meditation to Calm and Connect to Inner WisdomTurn down the inner static with a few moments of meditation. Meditation is intentional. You're deliberately turning the noise down on the parts that don't know. And it turns up the volume on the wisdom inside.

The ego mind can only access what is right in front of you. That part of you has no ability to know what's coming next or what is aligned with your inner wisdom. Your wise-self has access to all the information of your soul.

Try this Grounding Meditation to create a space to hear your inner wise-self.

How do you know what is ego and what is inner wisdom?Inner being messages are relaxing and calming. The sensations in the body are felt in very internal core places. You might feel your deep wisdom in your heart or your gut. You can question this information and it will continue to give calming and wise answers.

Ego messages are tense and demanding. The places you might feel these messages are up in the head. The ego doesn't like change and will discourage your questions. It often speaks in an always-never language. Thinking about following the ego message usually creates more tension in the body.

Be Kind to Your Ego-mindThe ego is also a part of you and protects you. And for this reason alone, being kind and compassionate to this protective part of you is useful. Imagine the ego as a scared child that is just trying to keep you from harm.

When you're connected to your inner wisdom, that part of you knows the path forward and also is aware of what the ego needs to feel safe in the changes. Once that connection has been made, you can explore how to navigate forward on the things your soul longs to do.

Listen to the Wisdom in the BodyYour body instantly responds to the energy in the choices on your path. Listen to Rita's discussion at 31:36 of how to tune into the knowing of the body, a process she learned from career coach Julia James. It's amazing how much the physicality of your body can act out what your inner wisdom is saying.

In this episode, Geneva Robins and Kim Star share how Reiki self-healing has improved their lives, restored balance, and provided nurturing, safety, and guidance. Self-healing with energy is simple to learn and can immediately begin shifting your energy state to one of peace and calm.

Why do we start with Reiki Self-Healing?Before you can help others, you have to start with yourself. In Reiki, we start our teaching with Level I, the self-healing level. We spend eight weeks on self-healing before moving on to learning how to do Reiki on others. Why?

The simplest answer is that all healing is self-healing. When we are helping others with Reiki, we're actually simply supporting their own self-healing process. The energy that connects with the person is generated by their strong desire to heal. As practitioners, we are merely conduits of that energy.

Our work is to be as clear as possible so the energy can flow without resistance.Self-healing is something we do everyday. Partly because that is the best way to help others, the session goes so smoothly when we are tuned up! But mostly, we practice Reiki for ourselves because it is a major tool for clarity, peace, energy, and our own mental and emotional balance. So much growth and healing can happen in only a few minutes of self-healing.

Can anyone learn Reiki Self-Healing?Yes! We have a self-healing meditation you can try right now. In just a few minutes you can dramatically shift your energy to one of peace, calm, and well-being. Check out Insight Timer for other meditations which can boost your self-healing practice.

In Reiki Level I, you get lots of time to practice self-healing and to understand the core principles of Reiki. Its easy for anyone to begin learning a new way to connect to your spiritual side and also meet others who are sensitive and kind.

What is Perfectionism? In researching for this episode, we found quite a few pithy quotes and definitions for perfectionism. Perhaps the best and most direct comes straight from the dictionary:

"the setting of unrealistically demanding goals accompanied by a disposition to regard failure to achieve them as unacceptable and a sign of personal worthlessness" ~Merriam Webster Dictionary

Ooof! That hits home, doesn't it? Perfectionism is a pattern of setting yourself up to fail and then beating yourself up when you inevitably fail. It gets you coming and going. It often gets in the way of true productivity and success and paralyzes forward movement.

It's very different from healthy striving toward mastery. As Brené Brown says, "Healthy striving is self-focused. Perfectionism is other-focused." We get caught in the impossible task of pleasing others and endlessly trying to figure out what they want. It's a way of trying to act our way into connection rather than just being who we are and finding true belonging.

Tools to Release PerfectionismThere are many, but here are some of our go-to emotional and energetic tools to help untangle the perfectionistic impulse.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Reframing Perfectionistic ThoughtsCognitive behavioural therapy is a tool that helps you reframe thoughts, identify thinking errors and look for the positive intent hidden within the negative thought. It's quite powerful and can help to understand the motivation behind the perfectionistic thinking. You can get help from a therapist, or you can try out a therapy app like Wysa.

Get support from a Loved One

People who love us unconditionally are amazing to reach out to anytime, but especially when we're in the grips of perfectionism. Their kind and accepting energy can soothe the mental strain of trying to get it all right, perfectly every time. Listen to them! You're value is not tied to what you do, it is connected to your being, which never needs to change to be worthy of love and belonging.

Reiki and the Reiki IdealsOf course, we like Reiki for most things here! It can help bring a gentle energy to the serious and harsh mode of thinking that perfectionism can cause. You can set your intention in a Reiki session to focus on gentleness, kindness, and radical acceptance. Then you can simply rest in that healing vibe.

One of the Reiki ideals is to be kind to yourself and all living things. This is a primary tool for releasing perfectionism. Offering yourself kindness, compassion, and gentleness is the antidote.

The Reiki ideals are these five simple but challenging concepts: just for today, I will let go of anger; I will let go of worry; I will be grateful for my many blessings; I will do my work honestly; and I will be kind to myself and every living thing.

All of the Reiki ideals can pop up when we're dealing with something like perfectionism. There are many great tools in "The Secret Art of Happiness" that can help alleviate the energy that lies underneath perfectionism. The Affirmation Ladders for the Reiki Ideals are especially helpful to help shift harsh modes of thinking and gradually help you shift into a positive and relaxed mindset.

Gratitude helps soothe Perfectionism

Whatever it is your shame gremlins or little perfectionist monsters are telling you about what you're doing, could you maybe find a teensy little aspect of it to be grateful for? You showed up? You're trying? That's amazing. And especially when there are harsh voices like that chirping at you, that is such a big thing in and of itself. Trying to reframe it with gratitude can soothe everything.

Don't fight with Shame. Just be kind. There's a temptation to fight with perfectionistic shame. But that just begets more of that energy. So go back to gentleness, and even gratitude for the inner critic voice. Because it's really just trying to keep you safe. It's just trying to help you be connected and loved. It is going about it all the wrong way. But it has developed for a reason, because of something that you learned or something that occurred in the past. It is just maladaptive now. Take a step back and see what it is trying to accomplish. Then you can soften around the whole process. Entertain the thought, "Maybe it's true that I will still be worthy of love, even if this isn't perfect."

What if our imperfections are actually what makes us Real? There can be such a drive towards correcting every single flaw in ourselves and our work that we can sometimes miss the beauty of our imperfections. In nature, the imperfect parts of a landscape are what makes it look real and genuine. When you look at a tree, a real tree in the forest. It's not symmetrical. The branches are not evenly spaced. There's live ones, there's dead ones, there's one going off and weird angles. But when you look at the whole of it, it's all beautiful.

And if we look at ourselves with that same kind view, maybe all of the things that maybe make us different or might be perceived as flaws or difficulties, what if they are actually what contribute to our beauty and our uniqueness in the world and make us exactly who we are.

Even the Earth itself is not perfect, it wobbles. It's not a perfect sphere. And yet, it's pretty good as planets go. Maybe give yourself that same grace, love, and acceptance. It's okay to not be perfect. It's wonderful to be uniquely you!

In this podcast episode, Angela Hoogeveen and Geneva Robins discuss the power of surrender and how to let go. A big topic! Surrendering is difficult, but it's truly the secret sauce in life. It's where you can connect to your power and transformative change. There's a lot of growth and all kinds of good stuff on the other side of surrender or letting go.

What does "Surrender" Mean? The ego does not like surrender. Generally, when you hear the word 'surrender,' it relates to a negative experience. For example, when you're fighting with someone or in war, and you surrender, you're on the losing side. But there's another definition of surrender, and that is to let go.

Surrender is basically radical acceptance. You surrender into a situation rather than fighting it.

You might think, "Well, I don't want to be here. I don't like where I'm at." So you fight it, and you push against it. But when you have that radical surrender and acceptance, you stop all the fighting against the present moment. And then, when you surrender to it, you can start to change the situation. You're coming from a more positive place rather than fighting against it. You can even learn to embrace change. and begin to not only deeply accept the situation, but use it a fuel for new growth.

Letting go is the opposite of what the ego wants. The ego wants control. And surrender, or that radical acceptance, often feels counterintuitive. Surrender is a trust fall into the Universe. It's letting go of holding on so tightly and just doing that trust fall.

The key is when you surrender, that doesn't mean you allow yourself to drown. It's not totally giving up.

There's a difference between letting go and giving in. So when we're talking about surrender here, what we're really talking about is letting go. We do not mean letting go to the forces of chaos or letting go to shame. You need to guard against giving in to the suffering of the mind.

True surrender is when you let go of that struggle with awareness of what you're letting go into. You let go into peace or let go into that trust within yourself, trusting your skills, trusting the loving nature of the Universe itself. Letting go to something bigger, compassionate, and wise is best.

Why is surrendering so powerful? When you gain radical acceptance, rather than using your energy trying to fight against the moment, you can use your energy to move forward. You quiet all the negative chatter, and you turn to the positive. You can focus on finding the positives or moving out of the situation.

Surrender brings you peace of mind. It drops you out of the anxious and ruminating thoughts. It puts you into a state of harmony and mindfulness. You can accept it even if you don't like where you are. And that act of acceptance brings enormous relief.

In that softness and gentleness of letting go, you access the greater space and awareness where all the energy that's trying to get in to soothe the pain can reach you.

Why is Letting Go so Difficult?Sometimes we cling and get into a state of control when faced with uncertainty. It can be hard to surrender because it might feel like the things coming up are big, scary, and unknown.

You might be facing something really big in your life, and a lot of it might be out of your control. But when life has put you in an intense place, trying to grab on and push and pull tends to not work very well.

Surrendering and getting to a place of acceptance of what is known and refraining from filling in the question marks, is another way of finding peace.

As best as possible, try to leave anything that is unknown as a question mark. And do your very best to not fill in the blank with something based in fear. Let the future rest like an unopened present. You don't know. Accept the not knowing.

How do you let go?Get still and BEThe first step is to let go and just come to stillness. Just float. The Universe is always moving, and it's impossible to stay stationary. And when we let go into that bigger field of awareness, it's moving you to a better place. And so sometimes you get further by floating than flailing. Letting go of the struggle and bringing yourself to the point of stillness lets the earth carry you rather than holding the whole world on your shoulders alone. When you let go, the energy and wisdom inside you will start floating you toward better places.

In trying to struggle away from your pain and discomfort, it doesn't go away. Until you just sit with it. And in that stillness, you can connect to these moments of grace. The stillness, simply sitting with what is, can connect you to moments of great wisdom and comfort. You go into this present peaceful moment, then the voice of your wise-self can be heard.

You can start embracing life as it is rather than trying to change everything.

Visualize SupportOne of the things that might help you let go is to visualize handing over your worries to a positive, loving being of the Universe. Remember that you have a spiritual connection with something greater. Some might call it a higher power, God, Creator, Source Energy, Mother Earth, or just something bigger than you that is loving and kind.

Breathing ReliefAccessing the power of mindful breathing is also helpful for letting go. Simply take a big sigh of relief. You can make a breathing practice of relief. When everything has worked out, you will breathe in a particular pattern. It's usually a big sigh of relief, like setting down 1000 pound backpack. Just set a timer for 5 minutes and practice letting your breath go with sighs of relief. It's amazing how calming that alone can be. Notice the tension dropping out of your shoulders when you do this one!

Shift your EnergyMeditation, Reiki, and self-healing are all wonderful ways to shift your energy into acceptance and surrender. It can help you connect to the universal oneness that gives you the feeling of support. You can shift your state to calm, peace, and trust within a few minutes of meditation.

Practice Mindfulness Five-Minutes at a Time Mindfulness is really great for gaining radical acceptance and letting go. Simply focusing on the next five minutes is a powerful tool. Just do life five minutes at a time. Completely surrender to your own skills, knowledge, and capability. Let go into that loving force in the Universe that's looking out for you, at least for the next five minutes. When something new happens, you'll meet it then and not a second before.

Set Your Intention and Deliberately Choose to Let Go

Sometimes the simplest practices are the best. Set your intention to radical acceptance and shake off the ruminating mind. When spiralling thoughts come up, calmly let them go and set them down. Remind your inner child gently, "No, no, dear one, we're not going there now. Let that go, and let me take care of you." Be gentle, firm, and kind with your mind and redirect to the positive, peaceful, and loving.

When you surrender, let go, and get into that radical acceptance, it brings you back into a state where you can respond. Then you become more powerful, intuitive, and connected.

In this episode, Geneva Robins and Alisia Marie chat about getting out of a funk and into alignment with the law of attraction and all of the good stuff in the Universe. Join us on our tumble down the psychic rabbit holes, and find out how the Universe syncs up with you. Thanks for being here.

Get out of the funk and into a state of actionMany people feel that burnt-out sensation of just feeling heavy like everything's dragging. Doing little bits of self-care in the form of meditation helps recharge things. Even imagining green plants and beautiful, sunny days can help you shake off that heaviness.

Knowing your cue to reset If you notice that you're numbing, sitting in front of Netflix, watching TV, scrolling through Facebook, going to the fridge and staring, eating more junk, these are all cues for self-care. Do something for yourself that will disrupt that old coping pathway.

When you know your numbing cues and witness when you're in it, begin to take tiny self-care actions to move forward. Ask yourself, "How can I become more positive and aware and continue with the path?"

Monitor what you're consuming

The first step is to look around and see what is happening. Just by witnessing the pattern, you can begin to turn the tide. Monitor what you're consuming on a daily basis. Include what you are looking at, hearing, interacting with, and eating and drinking because what you put in often reflects how you feel.

Notice when you're avoiding whatever you must do, but it may be scary. It's vulnerable. It's important.

Disrupt what you're doing

Guided meditations are helpful and can shift your energy in just a few minutes. Look up white noise or calming instrumental music like binaural beats. Music is a powerful healer. Put on a favourite tune and dance a bit of joy back into your body.

Gratitude! Write a quick list of what you appreciate, and if you're struggling, make it up! Gratitude is the opposite of criticism and can begin shifting your mindset within a few minutes. See Geneva's book The Secret Art of Happiness for more gratitude tools and affirmations.

Gentle exit routes back to yourself

Go back to the energy. Do really simple things like getting up and getting a drink of water, walking around or doing a little bit of stretching and yoga. Do one little tiny, positive, healthy thing for yourself. Choose something that is nurturing and gentle. Looking for gentle exit routes, back to what you need to do to move forward on your dreams.

Pressure off leads to productivity

Sometimes it's as simple as going to bed early and getting a good night's sleep. Start fresh the next day. In taking that pressure off, you can also give yourself space to do the self-care to refresh your energy rather than push through. Play and let yourself have fun. Do things that recharge you and help you disrupt the negative cycle. When you return the next day, you're ready to begin again.

What do you do when you want to throw in the towel on your Dream?Have a support system. Creating a group of friends or family who are your little personal cheerleading team is very helpful. When you feel like giving up, ask them to cheer you on and cheer you up.

Make it simple. Just do one thing instead of doing all the things. Everything you do in life is a step-by-step process. Sometimes when you start looking at the really big picture, it can become extremely overwhelming. But do a tiny thing, even a little nibble on the edges. Start tiny.

Switch to manifesting mindsetFrom a mechanistic mindset, the way the ego views the world, we might see ourselves as this little tiny person trying to push against a giant boulder. One of the things that really helps is to switch instead to the manifesting mindset, where you see yourself as connected to a conscious and loving Universe.

Everything is connected to everything elseWe live in a quantum world where everything is infinitely connected with everything else. All states of matter, all atoms, vibrate, and below the level of the physical, the energy that is the field of awareness in the Universe is conscious.

The foundation of the Universe is pure consciousness. When we can get ourselves into the state or frequency of pure consciousness in meditation or Reiki, we send a signal out that is responded to instantly by Source Energy. You send out the big dream, right from the centre of your heart, and you receive back the baby step.

The Universe communicates with The Feels

The Universe communicates to us with feeling, like a little magnetic nudge or impulse. It gives us only what we can handle, one or two instructions. All you can do is what you can do in this moment and not a single thing more.

Follow the frequencyWhen you have what you want, how will it feel in your body?

Get acquainted with that feeling of relief, freedom, satisfaction, and joy. Leave the details uncertain; you don't need to know how it will all play out; all you need to know is that feeling. And then, every time you have a choice, pick the one that aligns with that feeling of fulfillment.

The Universe is a sea of superimposed possibilities.

Until you make a choice, all possibilities are superimposed; they all exist. As soon as you make a choice, you collapse that wave of infinite possibilities into one thing. And so if you pick an apple instead of an orange, that's a tiny little collapse of a wave function, your life then goes on a different trajectory, and you're now standing in a new place with a whole new array of options in front of you.

If you're making those decisions from a place that is aligned with the feeling state of what you want to manifest, then you're going to get new waves of potential energy.

You change the fabric of reality around you, and you get a different world. Doors that used to be closed or not even available start opening. You start meeting people; synchronicity goes up, you see repeated numbers and signs over and over again, and you get into this sort of sweet spot where you get these little indicators of synchronicity that you're on the right path. It creates a wave of joy in front of you, and life changes for the better.

If you've got a question, we'd love to hear from you. Go to LunaHolistic.com/podcast and we'll answer you in an upcoming episode.

In this podcast episode, Geneva Robins and Melissa Jaswal (Adams) talk about distance Reiki. What is Distance Reiki, how does it work, and how might it help you.

What is a Distance Reiki Session like?Distance Reiki is where the practitioner can do Reiki on someone, literally anywhere in the world. Your Reiki practitioner could be here in Calgary, and you could be in Ontario or Japan; the distance doesn't matter. This is possible because Reiki transcends time and space. It will reach that person if their intention is to receive Reiki. As soon as the session starts, the energy starts flowing.

With a Virtual Distance Reiki session, you pick a time that works for you, and all you need to do is be in a place where you can relax. And just like a regular Reiki session, we chat together, and you talk about what's going on, and then set an intention. The intention is the focus of the session, what you want to get out of the session or the energy you would like to draw into your life. Then the practitioner sends you Reiki and guides you into a meditation. At the end, you chat about your experiences, just like an in-person session.

Relax at Home The shifts you can make in a Distance Session are just as big as those in an in-person session, sometimes even bigger. Sometimes you can go in such a deep, relaxed state because you're at home. You're in this restful place where you feel totally comfortable. And when you are more relaxed it can be easier to notice the energy helping you.

Get into alignment with the Law of AttractionIf you're working on things like drawing your life purpose towards you, manifesting the beautiful life you want, or getting into alignment with abundance, you can set that as an intention in a distance Reiki session.

The law of attraction is a frequency-based process. When you're in the same harmony or frequency as what you'd like to draw into your life, then it starts arriving. You can set your Virtual Distance Reiki intention to be in that energy of fulfillment. Then we can hold that space for you and help you stay in that high vibe frequency that matches everything you want. Then you just stand back and watch what happens in your life.

A virtual distance Reiki session is like an energetic fine-tuning.

Beyond Time and Space with Distance Reiki - How Does it Work?As a practitioner, you do the same steps in the same order as you would in person. The only difference is that you're just missing the physical touch on the body. But in terms of the energy, everything else is identical. You don't need to be in the same room as the person, because the energy is beyond time and space.

The studies have yet to be completed, but a possible working hypothesis on how Reiki works is that it is a quantum mechanical effect. When you get past the atom level and go into that subatomic quantum realm, there is a field of energy that underlies all matter and is infinitely connected with everything else.

With Distance Reiki, the practitioner is sitting in their home, and they use Reiki, which you could think of like quantum tools, to create a pathway or an opening in time and space and reach out their energetic hands to wherever the person is. The practitioner imagines the energy flowing to the person as though they were in the room. The effect and energy will instantly arrive wherever that person is.

Distance Reiki Works! We know from our own experience and our clients' experience over all of these years that it works. We know that to be true. So we always have a 100% guarantee you'll be happy with the session you got. And if you're not, we'll give you a full refund, no questions asked.

Experience a SessionThe more relaxed you are when you receive a Reiki session, the more likely you will connect to your intuition. Sometimes, you are also more aware of what's happening with your own energy.

In virtual Reiki sessions, we like to keep people on the line. So we'll do the session over zoom or over the phone. When you're in a distance session, treat it like a regular session, sit still, and get cozy. We guide you into a meditation and relaxed state. We might coach you to breathe and visualize with different colours or energy. And then we always leave the last little bit to share experiences.

It's so amazing. We're not really adding anything in Reiki sessions, both distance or in-person. We're letting that beautiful spirit that's always been there, your heart, your soul, and that energy have more space. You get more space to breathe and let that sure, confident, beautiful, loving, compassionate self lead more choices in your life.

Geneva Robins and Angela Hoogeveen chat about being stuck! In this podcast episode, we share all the ways you can get moving again.

Why do you get stuck? What happens when you're stuck? It can be so depressing, hopeless, and frustrating to be in an uncomfortable place. Being stuck makes you feel like you can't move back, forward, sideways, up or down. You feel like you need to be more connected and engaged with the life you want but just can't seem to get there.

When you get stuck, your inner critical voice might be yelling at you. It might be very harsh, pushing you to move faster than you can and saying everything you should be doing.

The main theme of the inner critic is "never enough," so no matter what, you get yelled at to get moving faster. It's very damaging. That inner critical voice often makes you more stuck.

Even though we might think that a kick in the butt will get us moving, it never lasts for long. The inner wise part of us wants to stop the inner violence. Things externally will grind to a halt. Anytime there's that pushing or pulling or pressure from the inner critic, it is the fastest way to stop everything and get in that really stuck place.

The Illusion of Safety in Being StuckThe other side of stuckness is that sometimes it's a protective thing to try to keep us out of what our ego perceives as danger. The inner critic loves you being stuck. Because if you're stuck, you're safe. In its view, if you're not doing anything new, scary, or vulnerable, then it is happy. But being stuck can get so uncomfortable because we need growth, change and transformation to feel alive.

Accepting that little tiny bit of emotional risk that comes with doing something new can create the energetic change that can get you unstuck.

How do you get unstuck? The steps to get out of a stuck place are: soften, relax, get gentle, notice where you are, come back to your body, see what can change, notice a tiny thing you can be grateful for, and then take even the tiniest little sliver of action. Any tiny movement will move you, even if it doesn't seem like a lot.

Stop Struggling against being StuckThe first step out of being stuck is often to stop struggling and get still.

Noticing where you are is the first step to getting out. It's uncomfortable to notice the discomfort of the present moment. Nobody wants to do that.

It's much easier to numb, but the numbing only pauses, what's happening, it doesn't process it, and it doesn't end up moving you forward. It just is a delay, which can add more pressure on you.

Being stuck in your life is no different than being in a mud puddle. You've sunk in up to your knees. And the more you flail, the worse it will be for you. And so the first thing is to stop, get still, and really pay attention to what's happening in the body.

Returning to that state of presence, to your breath, and a state of calm will help you get out. Stop, get present, get grounded, see where you are, and then look for the possibilities around you.

Compulsive future-looking doesn't help you navigate. To get anywhere, you have to know where you are first.

Gentleness is the key to getting out of a stuck placeThe way forward is just loving yourself more and being okay with where you are. Simply being gentle with yourself and loving yourself through it is the key to breaking free. It feels counterintuitive because, growing up, we are often pushed to go forward. There was a belief that you needed a kick in the butt to get unstuck and get you moving forward.

Simply say to the inner critical voice, "You know what? It's okay. Yes, I do want to be over there. I want to be doing things I'm not currently doing. But it's okay. It's okay. I'm here. I need to accept where I am. And love myself through it and be gentle with myself."

You can just lower your expectations of yourself. Then once the pressure of the inner critic stops, there is a kind, loving voice that fills the silence that can give you peace, comfort and guidance. That takes away that stuck feeling, and then moving forward becomes natural.

Being soft and gentle creates real freedom from the inner critic. If the energy keeping you stuck is harsh, then you need the opposite to break free.

Just soften around all of it, don't put so much pressure on yourself, and appreciate your life where it is. The more we struggle against where we are, the worse things can feel.

Reframe your thoughts to get unstuckSometimes it's a thought that can keep you stuck. Reframing how you think about your situation can help you move forward.

A great app to help improve your mental well-being is Wysa; it's a little cognitive behavioural therapy app. It's fantastic for helping you reframe your thoughts. It can take you through a reframing exercise, help with gratitude journalling, and even has some yoga and meditation practices to help you regroup.

All or none thinking can be a contributor to getting stuck. You want to leap immediately from one place to another with no in-between. That rush or pressure creates so much tension that it can halt all forward movement. This type of thinking diminishes even the tiny things that move you forward because it is never enough.

Surrender the details and the plan and let it all go; let it be in the hands of the Divine. Spend some time relaxing, doing Reiki or meditation, reading something inspirational, or even watching people being creative on YouTube. Find ways where you can feed your brain new ways of looking at things. Getting curious about anything moves you forward and can inspire your own creativity.

Just take a step back and try to look at your life almost as a third party. When you do, you'll realize how far you have come; you are doing big things. Sometimes you need a minute to take a breath. You can reframe being stuck as just taking a breather, a rest. Maybe you just need a moment.

Tiny positive actions move you forwardShifting your thinking to embrace any tiny movement forward can really help. You can't leap from where you are. But you can make a tiny little change.

Usually, these tiny incremental changes get us from point A to point B. It's the little tiny things that we do every day that add up over the long term.

It's much better to change the underlying habit than to get the result. Loosening your grip on the results and knowing that the results are baked into the process creates so much ease. So if we can change a tiny little habit to a healthier one, the progress we're after will appear with time.

What is some way that you can make even a symbolic movement forward? What's the next little baby step? Just take that tiny action and then another. And then, when you turn around, you'll notice that you've come a really long way.

When Things are Beyond your Control...Even in intensely difficult situations when you don't know how things will resolve, the principles that can help you are the same. Take tiny moments and breaks to return to your breath; return to the present moment. When the future is very uncertain, the only safe space is the present moment. The present moment can be this little island of relief when everything else is up in the air.

Doing little tiny kind things for yourself, like taking a shower, making sure that you're well hydrated, making sure that you're meditating and reaching out to loved ones, all those little things are enormously important.

Anything that brings in that little breath of relief and comfort and makes you feel good is a step. Remember, forward is forward; it doesn't matter how small.

You've got this!!We can go step by step and move away from that stuck place to that place of freedom. The gifts of those stuck moments are that we learn so much when we're stuck. We need to do the same strategies when we're in the flow.

Everything you're learning is important and will help keep you in the flow once you're free. You're ultimately building skills to be in that resilient space. And you won't be as fearful when you are stuck. You'll know you can move forward and be in that flow again.

What do you do when your healing work is done? In this podcast episode, Geneva Robins and Kim Johnston chat about the neverending awakening and expansion of the spiritual journey. Our favourite thing to talk about is the transformative process of unpacking old stuff and expanding further into the light.

With an engineering background, Kim had been doing energy healing work since childhood but kept that part of her life hidden. The journey of learning Reiki helped her go through some really challenging times. She began learning Reiki with Geneva while in graduate school to get her Ph.D. in engineering.

In graduate school, there are times when it can be really difficult and lonely. Like many people in grad school, Kim was dealing with impostor syndrome and thoughts like "What am I doing here in graduate school?", "What can I do with my life?" and "Who am I?"

Learning Reiki helped Kim feel more comfortable and confident and heal old thought patterns. Coming into the community of Reiki class was so supportive and nurturing. Opening her heart up to self-love, expansion, and acceptance was a big shift in her spiritual journey.

Now, as an engineering professor, Kim works with psychologists to create programs that are starting to change the culture. Mental well-being is essential, and we need to be able to talk about difficult topics everywhere, including in the university setting.

We're human beings, not human doings. Our culture teaches us that much of our value is based on productivity and accomplishments. A big part of the spiritual journey, in the beginning, was unlearning that attachment to having to be productive, to have value.

The truth is that your worth is just simply you being you. You just have to show up and breathe, and that's enough.

Connect to the unconditional loving space

If your worthiness is based on something external, you pay such a great inner cost. You're always chasing the thing outside of yourself. It's always just beyond your grasp. It doesn't matter what you accomplish; it doesn't matter how good you are. If there's a tape in your head that says "Never enough, " it just never shuts up.

There's no amount of enoughness to satiate that beast. And then, in the chasing of the external, we can lose that numinous, luminescent, ephemeral beauty that's part of life. We lose our ability to witness the miracles happening all around us all the time.

The spiritual practice is really about connecting to unconditional, loving energy. And the spiritual doorway or mind-body mental health tool that gets you to that luminous state is up to you.

That unconditional love state can be created inside you by connecting to the universal lifeforce energy. For us, Reiki is one of the many pathways we use to connect to that infinite well-being. You get in harmony with the greater flow of Divine energy, and then you can create absolute magic in the world.

And so then, what's next? What do we do when we've healed our stuff?

The first few years of the spiritual journey are often about healing the old stuff, clearing out limiting beliefs, and things from childhood.

Then there's a time when your spiritual work shifts from the pain of the past to expanding further into joy and happiness. You come to a place where you're really comfortable and in a good place on many levels. You begin to love yourself and have true inner acceptance and peace.

Transformation and Elevation in the Spiritual JourneyThe work transforms as we do. You begin to ask how you can help support other people in their journeys and start to heal our culture.

How can I be the next level of myself and usher in a little bit of a new way of being for myself and society?

What opens up is choice and freedom. Letting go of the idea of a 'right' or 'wrong' choice and opening up to all options being good and wonderful in their own way. Sometimes when you're faced with multiple options, you can feel trapped because it might seem like there is a right way or wrong way, that one way is safe and the other is not.

But after clearing and healing old beliefs, a new, open, and expansive environment is created, where all of the options are actually beautiful and delightful. You start to flow easily with creativity and choice. When you start doing your healing work, you realize everything we do is a choice; we get to choose every aspect of it.

Connection to Creativity on the Spiritual JourneyThe old internalized beliefs fade away as you follow your spiritual journey. Dualistic beliefs, that we are one thing or another, lessenas we do our spiritual work. We let go of the idea that you're either creative or scientific. You're either a man or a woman; if you're a man, you don't get to be womanly, and if you're a woman, you must not be manly. When those limiting beliefs fade, you can be anything.

Aspects of creativity can open up, and you get ideas for projects you want to make and bits of life you want to experience. These can be artistic or applying creative solutions to your daily work. It is all part of the greater creative flow of energy that naturally opens when you are on your spiritual journey.

Keep Going with your Spiritual PracticeThe exact same practice that helped you heal will also elevate and transform you as you expand into your spiritual self. And really, both happen at the same time. No matter how far along you are on your spiritual path, there can always be things to heal and bring to the light. And even if you are new to the path, you can have these deep and transformative experiences that elevate yourself and others.

When you have something to be healed, Reiki will heal it; when you don't have something to be healed, Reiki will elevate and transform you and uncover something new.

As you deepen your spiritual practice, you undergo a process of unveiling and transformation. You unveil different aspects of yourself and allow the most genuine version of yourself to be uncovered. In that process, you bring more of yourself into your life, and in that way, you create so much good in the world around you.

Your Spiritual Journey Heals the WorldUncovering the creative self opens up after healing trauma. You connect to the energy and ideas within you with flexibility and openness. And most importantly, your healing creates the safety to play.

You create a safe space to explore who else you can be and how else you can express things. That space opens for you, but then you can also hold that space for others.

Your spiritual journey creates a massive shift in communities and, ultimately, the world. Because if everyone felt safe to bring the best of themselves to the world, that would bring about illumination on a global scale. It means transcendence of suffering and the flourishing of the individual and everyone else.

Human consciousness is evolving in a bit of a different way. People are no longer content to be kept in one little box of identity. All of the things that used to be rigid and unyielding are becoming a lot more expressive and open. We are expanding our consciousness and are using all these tools, Reiki, yoga, meditation, reading, self-help books, and positive psychology. It all works together to create joy and expand the light.

It's an exciting time to be alive in the space of expansion of human consciousness.

Geneva Robins and Natalija Radovanovic chat in this podcast episode about the intense energy that can be generated as you awaken your intuition. The energy can sometimes be very powerful and challenging to manage and understand. With a few simple strategies, you can protect your sensitivity and continue leading your full, rich life in the 3D world.

Both Natalija and Geneva are very familiar with this powerful download energy in their work as intuitive readers. Activating your psychic powers, what we call your intuition at your third eye chakra, can be a wild ride. Still, we have several tips and strategies that help you stabilize this energy flow.

The Universe will connect you to the best resources at the perfect timeYou come into Reiki when you are meant to. There are these perfect-timing moments. You connect to these Divine synchronicity moments as you begin to build your spiritual practice. The more you sit in meditation and move your body to your breath in yoga and other practices, the more likely you will just stumble into your spirituality. You might have a sudden awakening of your intuition and connection to the Divine.

This might be new and even unsettling at first, but don't worry, we are well practiced at helping others ground this energy and make sense of the messages they are getting from Spiritual downloads.

How do I handle the intense energy as I open up to my intuition?Sometimes you get connected to this very, very intense flow of light and energy, almost like information downloads. You might get really strong feelings and guidance when you're opening up your spiritual practice.

People get sort of suddenly and rapidly connected to their spiritual team, and they start hearing this guidance in their heads. The energy is so strong they can't ignore it anymore; they have to take action, but they don't quite know where the guidance is taking them.

It's definitely a departure from what you would normally experience, and it can be an unsettling thing. But it's okay! We can help you navigate this new and exciting phase of your life.

Sitting with the rapid increase in spiritual energyWhen Natalija sees clients who are going through those big, massive shifts or spiritual awakenings, she cheers and celebrates. She likes to remind them that this is a new space for them and a new time for connection.

The downloads and messages come in pretty hot and fast, and there's not much else you can do; just practice receiving it. Really sit with the downloads and energy; it's all aligned with your highest good. You're meant to get those messages.

To sit with the energy, spend a few minutes every day in silent meditation. Just feel the energy and be open to the love, support and guidance it carries. Let the energy flow through without resisting it, and be patient. Just like a downloaded file, you need to wait till the full energy of the message is received before you can make sense of it.

Take a notebook with you wherever you go. Spend a few moments every day simply writing in your journal. Don't edit or cross anything out. Just let the experience flow through. Document what you are experiencing in your journal because sometimes, just writing it down, it begins to make sense.

What is a spiritual download? It's almost like an energy surge. When the downloads or spiritual energy coming through is really intense, it's usually in response to a big question or opening up your creativity. As you start moving more and more energy through your system, you also get access to greater and greater amounts of information.

If you've been putting out a call and asking for guidance, in particular, there's a response with the energy. And so sometimes you feel this very big surge.

It might feel like your crown chakra, at the top of your head, has taken in a big gulp of water. It's almost like pressure, but it's not a headache; it's more like a sensation of fullness that might be tied to a feeling of heat or rushing energy going through the body.

It's intense, but it's not necessarily uncomfortable. So if you're going into discomfort, and there's a headache or anything like that, check with your doctor. But if you're otherwise healthy and you actually feel okay, then it's probably simply a spiritual awakening.

It's almost like this sensation, or wattage of how much you're experiencing the world around you, has suddenly increased. You might find that your perception of colours, light, and other people's energy suddenly gets louder. The ego has been silenced, and the messages from Spirit that have been trying to get through are shouting at full volume. It can feel like a sudden increase in your perception of the information. That rush of energy is a cue to go and sit and meditate and get your journal nearby.

Check in with your physical well beingOne of the first things we recommend is to make sure you are attending to your physical needs and environment. Big rushes of energy can sometimes feel like you are floating, so it's important to nurture your body. Get lots of rest, eat nourishing and healthy foods, and drink fresh water.

Sometimes simply tending to your physical environment can reorient you to your aligned and whole state. This attention to the present moment and your physical needs won't stop the flow of energy. It helps you begin moving the energy through so you can start to make sense of it.

If in doubt, check in with a medical professional. Accessing more spiritual energy feels intense, but there is no physical discomfort. It feels important and meaningful, but the messages are always loving and supportive. If it is a frightening or painful experience, it is important to check on your physical and mental well-being. Spiritual downloads, even big ones, still make you feel good physically.

Grounding Meditations to integrateDoing the grounding meditations will help to lessen that load of energy. Grounding helps you tap into the stabilizing energy of the earth and will help support the smooth expansion of the experience.

Once you ground and connect the energy to all your chakras, you can gain the understanding you are seeking. Try out our Tree Meditation or our Grounding Meditation to help you flow the energy and information through.

Gentle releasing activities, such as writing in a journal, meditating or doing yoga, will let it process. Even walking can ground you. You're still moving that energy. It's important to move that energy because it will not get any less intense if it's just sitting there.

Slowing down is one of the biggest things. After all, in those moments when the energy is flowing in, it might not feel totally comfortable because it is all so new. You'll continue processing it by becoming still in meditation and reflection in your journal. The more you sit with it, ground and connect with it and try to find what messages are in there, it will help you move through those waves a little bit easier.

Move the energy through your chakrasWhen you move the energy through your chakras and ground it, you let the wisdom within each of your chakras help you understand the fullness of the message.

Because when you do get those massive downloads, or when you're open up to the Divine, and your intuition in your third eye chakra is massively open, you're working your upper energies and upper chakras. If you leave the energy there, it can create an imbalance. Reiki can help you to process it physically through the rest of your energy centers.

The chakras are energy centers connected to every major organ center in your body and help you with different parts of your life. You can think of them as different parts of your spiritual intelligence.

The crown chakra at the top of your head helps you with spiritual connection. The third eye chakra at your brow is responsible for your intuition. The throat chakra helps you with communication and listening. Your heart chakra is the centre for love and compassion.

The solar plexus chakra in your upper belly helps you with willpower, confidence and identity. Your sacral chakra, in your lower belly, helps you with knowing your value, worthiness, and creativity. The root chakra at the base of your spine helps you with order, structure, routines, and safety.

These centers are connected by the Hara line, the central energy channel flowing through all the chakras. That channel helps all of your energy centers communicate with each other and flow energy from one part of your system to the other. In Reiki, we work extensively with the Hara line and the flow of energy through the chakras and the aura.

When we're talking about processing that intense energy download, we're basically taking that energy information and very gently letting it go through every single chakra and letting every chakra interpret it. Once it integrates your heart chakra, for example, the energy will probably tell you a lot about compassion and how to bring this greater self-love and awareness into your life.

At the root chakra, the energy surge will become well-grounded, and you'll have a practical sense of how to put this energy and guidance into practical action.

You can check on the energy levels in your chakras with our Chakra Energy Quiz. This gives you a simple overview of where your levels are at and gives you even more information on restorative activities that help rebalance your energy.

Get help moving the intense energySometimes you might need help sorting those messages out, and that is when it's really good to come in for Reiki or an Intuitive Reading.

While the energy is super big, Reiki can help you get back down to a manageable state for yourself. It feels like the information makes sense and plugs into the right places.

When you come in for a Reiki Session or Intuitive Reading, you get to check if your intuitive compass is still pointing north. You get to compare your interpretation of the energy to somebody else's. It's like a signal check.

Going for a session or reading helps strengthen your own intuition by getting confirmation. We are often reiterating what you're already receiving. And when we're accurate with the message, you get an internal resonance feeling inside, or even shivers or goosebumps. Truth resonates like a bell ringing inside you.

You keep learning and evolving in your spiritual path. And it is so nice to get support along the way; we do the same! Asking for help and guidance from others is a big part of the practice and healing journey.

In this podcast, Geneva Robins and Rita Reddy talk about change! Ugh, sometimes it's the actual worst. There can be some real gross parts of change, but some delicious bits too. Rita shares a lesson from her work in Trilotherapy, the Apple Tree Cycle.

The metaphor of the apple tree cycle is a simple yet profound way of understanding change as an organic and natural part of learning and growth. You get a gentle way of looking at each stage of the cycle of life without fear or resistance. It's a really supportive and transformational Trilotherapy tool.

What is Trilotherapy?Created by Zen Master Nissim Amon, Trilotherapy is based on his own training in Zen Buddhism and meditation plus elements of his learnings in Western psychology and Eastern philosophies. It's a retreat-based program with a series of workshops that can be taught individually or in a group setting.

The main philosophy of Trilotherapy is that you have a Center self that you're born with and come into every life with, and two inner children, your rational mind and emotional mind. And our job in Trilotherapy is to help you figure out what place you're making decisions from; to help you make decisions from the Center, which is always your true self.

Your two inner children, we call them your rational mind and your emotional mind; they create your personality. They take in all the information and process it, and then you're the one who's going to be making the decisions. Sometimes we're allowing these children to make the decisions for us. But the idea is to parent ourselves and these inner children to help us make the best life decisions. Trilotherapy helps us figure out where we're coming from and why we decide certain things.

How do you deal with change? At times we all have to deal with enormous amounts of change and the feelings that come along with it, like grief and loss. Big changes can really challenge our ability to let go.

Nobody likes change... unless it's the good parts of change! When the bad parts come around, which are always going to come around, that's when things get really hard. We sometimes misname change to be only the gross parts we don't like, but there is beauty in the whole cycle.

Embrace Change with the Apple Tree CycleThe Apple Tree Cycle is a Trilotherapy tool to explore the natural cycles of change in our lives, so it's not so scary. The stages of change are represented by the metaphor of the life cycle of the apple tree:

  1. seed and gestation, which is the new idea or start of something new;
  2. plant and growth stage; where your new creation is expanding;
  3. fruiting and enjoying the creation;
  4. death, where the creation is complete, the fruit falls, and the tree dies; it involves letting go;
  5. rotting, which is the disintegration and complete release of the creation back to fertilizer; and
  6. back to gestation, the cycle always returns to the start.

Everything goes through the apple tree cycle, even tiny little mini ones. You might go through 10 of them a day. It's basically the beginning, the middle, and the end of anything that's going on, whether it be a relationship or going to the store and getting groceries.

We tend to like the beginning parts of the cycle when the little sprout is happening. There's forward progress like things could change; that'll be amazing. Then the growth part, you see things take form, and everything is expanding. And then, in the fruiting stage, you're starting to enjoy some of the things you've created and put into motion.

But then there's the rotting and death stages, where in the apple tree cycle, the apple's fallen off of the branch and is now in the process of letting go and returning to the earth. It's when things degrade and turn into fertilizer. And so that's usually when we feel like poop!

But it's also so beautiful because you know that poop is nourishing. It's food for the seed. And that's what we need. And there's beauty in it, even though it's the stinky gross part of change.

Gratitude helps us Embrace ChangeThe Signs of Spring is a process from Geneva's book The Secret Art of Happiness: Change Your Life with the Reiki Ideals. It's a gratitude process that you use daily. It is especially helpful when you're in an uncomfortable place, and you're the in the turmoil of change. But even in those places, there's forward movement and progression, tiny sprouts and signs of spring. And when you start noticing them, tiny little signs that things are turning in your favour, then it can be the fuel that pulls you through the rough parts.

Even at the lowest point, there's some little thing you can look to that says, "This is a temporary state. And it's going to get better."

Life is a Cycle, just like the Apple TreeOur western world thinks after the end is nothing. It is a very linear view; the start and the end never link back up with each other. The end is final, and there's nothing but the abyss of loneliness and terror on the other side of death and rotting.

But with the apple tree cycle, what's on the other side of that death and rotting is more life. This is the life-death-life cycle, which comes up in one of Geneva's favourite books, Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype, by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. The book deconstructs fairy tales in a Jungian and poetic analysis. It turns out that many ancient stories exist to help us so that we don't need to fear the death and loss stages of our lives.

Because it is in the death and rotting stages where we get our strength and courage. Sometimes in times of hardship and struggle, we come together as a community. We reach out to other people and start learning and connecting with our inner and outer resources in new ways that maybe we wouldn't have before the change happened.

The Wilderness of ChangeWhere do you find that comfortable place with the uncomfortable?

Having an understanding of what stage you are in helps you to release fear. You can spot when you leave the cycle or cut things off before they grow. By reflecting on the apple tree cycle, you can see where you may self-sabotage. You get an opportunity to notice your patterns in the cycle and what part of the cycle gives you the most trouble. Seeing things from a different angle can make all the difference.

Your Center might know more than the emotional or rational mind. But when we choose from the Center self, it might make you stand out, which puts you out into the wilderness. This is incredibly uncomfortable but is also often very necessary. We have to be willing to find our own way to our own Center.

Even the people that love you the most aren't able to know the core of your own heart. And when they make kind suggestions, they can only recommend what has worked for them. It's not a replacement for following your own guidance.

Only you can know your own heart.

Sometimes people do what they think they should do rather than what is calling their own heart forward. They end up living a life that doesn't fit them. They're fitting in rather than really belonging. The book Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone by Brené Brown is really helpful if this sounds familiar. In order to truly belong, you have to first belong to yourself completely. That is where choosing from the Center self can lead you to that wholehearted life.

Reiki supports people through change. Reiki is very gentle and supportive. It helps connect you with this eternal, everlasting energy that supports all things. Reiki is connected to the energy within the fabric of life itself and the continuity of the cycles. It taps us into this eternal yet timeless frequency. And in that frequency, there's this moment of real peace and grace. And with great loss, sometimes it's only that which heals. There's a moment where we go into the infinite.

We get comfort and peace with that transition stage so we can honour the love underneath the pain. Reiki helps set the grief to rest and let go with respect, love, and grace. We get to a place of peace, comfort, and acceptance.

We're always here to help you no matter what part of the apple tree cycle you are in. We can cheer you on when things are going amazing and let things those roots deepen and ripen. And we can also help you process any pain that might pop up. You can get a bit of help, soothing, and support no matter where you are. You're doing great.

Geneva Robins and Angela Hoogeveen are talking about the weird nature of Reiki in this podcast episode! We love Reiki, and Reiki is so delightfully weird. It brings us to the edge of our knowledge and into the unknown mysteries of the Universe itself. We discuss why we think that Reiki is so wild, weird and wonderful.

Angela shares what brought her to this wild Reiki thing. Something just felt right about Reiki. She leapt into the course with no intention at first of doing it as a job. She really followed her heart and trusted it.

Trusting the decisions that come from the heart, while at times confusing to the mind, very often leads to the best places. Sometimes the best decisions in life are ones where the brain does not get a vote!

The heart calling us to our purpose creates a wave of energy that gives the mind a vacation. For Geneva, she finds that the mind doesn't know what to do; it just tries to keep her out of trouble. The ego mind keeps her on the 'safest route,' but that is never where the juiciest and most satisfying soulful choices live.

It can be very vulnerable to lead from the heart, but it is absolutely the best decision, at least for Angela and Geneva! When you follow those heart decisions, there's a deep feeling of 'rightness.' It's vulnerable but so worthwhile.

Vulnerability comes up when you follow your heart, but there is a space inside that is certain. We call that wise and quiet space inside your soul. The soul is eternal and isn't afraid of anything. It has so many energy resources; it's calm, certain, and grounded.

Courage is living from the heart space. The ego is fearful, but it doesn't have all the information. The ego will keep us stuck in discomfort and find better ways of managing it instead of following the wise guidance of the soul. Angela and Geneva are well practiced at living in this soul-space, and the choices from that energy have always been the best.

Practise following your heart with the little tiny choices in your day from the feeling of the fulfillment of your wishes. It creates a wave of potential energy in front of you and brings you your manifestation faster. Highly recommended!

Why is Reiki so Weird? We love it so much, but it is truly weird. Reiki is all unseen, so sometimes, it's difficult for the mind to grasp. Even though we have practiced Reiki for several years, we are still in awe of the process.

The word 'weird' means supernatural or uncanny and comes from an Old Scottish term that means "a person's destiny." We think this fits perfectly as a description of Reiki!

Reiki takes you into the unknown and into the spiritual dimension. Reiki is universal life force energy from a quantum mechanical space beyond matter to the field that unites everything.

It's weirder than you can think! If quantum physics is new to you, a fantastic movie exploring the connection between the subatomic realm and our larger world is "What the Bleep do we Know." Quantum physics is weird. The nature of reality is strange and difficult to understand, even from a scientific or spiritual view.

If you study the nature of the Universe, you eventually bump up against the edge of our knowledge and worldview. So with Reiki, we dabble right up to the edge of the unknown, and that makes it weird to us.

How is it even possible to release a massive lifelong trauma and pain in a 5-minute Reiki session? We don't know! But we've experienced it ourselves and have helped others do the same.

In the post, Quantum Leaps: How Reiki Works, Geneva explores this connection of Reiki to the weird mysteries of the Universe.

Reiki is the definition of weird. It doesn't make sense to the material-focused mind. In Reiki, we are directly interacting with the quantum nature of the Universe. As practitioners, we have a method to bring in this universal life force energy and direct it to a positive intention.

We practice getting the ego out of the way in Reiki sessions so the energy can flow smoothly. But honestly, it is not likely that the ego can understand it. Just simply the intangible nature of Reiki causes the ego confusion. It pushes on the boundary between what is known and unknown.

For us, Reiki is like peering into the mystery of the Universe, which is wild and weird. Yet, we continue to see major changes in ourselves and in our clients even if the mechanism is still being understood from a pure science point of view.

Reiki can help to shift the energy around you. Reiki is inherently non-judgemental. It simply meets you wherever you are with grace, love, and unconditional support. We love that Reiki creates a space for all of the feelings and helps to transform and heal at a deep level. It helps to process the feelings and the energy residue in your body and mind.

We open up the energy in the room and create a space where people can connect to that universal life force, and it soothes and lifts the heaviness. As a transformative practice, Reiki has helped us move through so many things. Reiki helps with your spiritual well-being and fits very nicely with other forms of therapy.

How do you Stay Clear as a Reiki Practitioner? We are protected and safe as practitioners because the Usui Shiki Ryoho System of Natural Healing gives us a very safe method to be in a very clear field of energy. It's like standing in a waterfall of light, like being in a very special place of being a witness to someone's miracle process.

Even when people are in a state of suffering, the Reiki energy answers it with an even more powerful flow of love, hope, and healing. We're honoured and grateful to facilitate those big sessions for others. We get to witness other people's growth and transformation; it is humbling and a huge honour.

When we are in the presence of a miracle, we know it because there is a win-win-win effect for all involved.

A Course in Miracles says, "Miracles are a kind of exchange. Like all expressions of love, which are always miraculous in the true sense, the exchange reverses the physical laws. They bring more love to both the give and the receiver." Miracles are weird because we don't understand how they work. But we experience them, and experience is always the best teacher!

Reiki helps us participate in the miracle process of another's healing. And for that, we are extremely grateful!

In this episode, Geneva Robins and Alisia Marie talk about how to stay emotionally centred as an empath and highly-sensitive person. And, of course, we talk about Reiki! Empaths feel other people's feelings, and at times, that can create anxiety. Alisia's strategy is to take time every morning to ground and focus and then tune into the heart chakra to help to keep things calm.

Keep things out of the spin cycle!Accessing the heart chakra opens you up to a more beautiful version of reality and connects you to the main purpose of why you are here. By taking time to connect to the pure love and light inside, it helps to put things into perspective. Alisia loves it as a strategy to regain focus and stay out of anxiety.

Awareness and Nature, Two powerful tools for sensitive folks.Noticing the feeling states in the body helps to get Geneva out of swirling thoughts. Bringing the breath to the spaces in the body that are under tension creates ease and flow. Even just noticing the body is helpful for highly-sensitive people to drop out of the mind and ground the energy.

Go for a nature walk! That is Geneva's favourite way to settle her nervous system. Just go outside and notice nature moving. When you notice the organic movement occurring in real-time, it brings you into the present moment. Just returning to what you are sensing, inside your body and outside your body, helps you reconnect.

Highly sensitive people are superstars at helping others. The gift is that you are a big feeler. You feel everything. It can be challenging, but it is one of your greatest gifts and makes you amazing at helping others.

Aura Up! Energetic care for sensitive people. The aura is also so important for empaths to keep clear and bright. The aura is the energy container that goes all around your body. The energy of the universe flows through us, through all the chakras and surrounds us. We are basically sitting in bubbles of this energy.

When your aura is in a high-vibe state, you feel settled and in your own container. Other people's emotions flow around you rather than attaching to you when your energy bubble is clear and vibrant. You still keep all your sensitivity, but that sensitivity is protected. With an intact and powerful aura, you can be a compassionate witness to others without taking on the emotional load.

The simplest way to balance the aura is to imagine you are sitting in a bubble of light. Pick your favourite colour and just use your imagination to put that protective light all around you.

Geneva loves Reiki for helping her move the energy. Reiki is a wonderful technique to balance the chakras and circulate the energy through the aura. It leaves you feeling safe, contained, and clear.

In Reiki sessions, we help you maintain the energy in your aura. Reiki lasts a long time, much longer than the session, because it is working beyond time and space. So you can stay clear for quite a while after a session, especially if you have a home practice that moves energy like yoga, meditation, or tai chi.

Sensitive kids need Bright Aura's too!

Alisia uses visualization and Reiki to put energy and protection all around her home, vehicles, and herself! She helps her kids imagine their own auras, which helps them navigate big days, like the first day of school. She encourages them to find their own special way of connecting to the energy they want for that day, like a sparkly shield or a superhero feeling.

Just imagining the energy puts it there. Even little kids can do it! You can choose the frequency of light you want around you and let it be different each day to match what you need.

The Rainbow Tree meditation is another tool that helps your sensitive kids (or you) to clear their chakras, get a bit of grounding, and fill up the aura. You pretend you are a tree and imagine the chakra colours in each chakra, all the way down the roots. Then you pull a big bubble of light around you. Kids love it, and it keeps the nightmares and monsters away!

Alisia asks, 'How did you get through the pandemic lockdowns as a business owner?' 'Everything starts with your own practice!' says Geneva. You have to take care of yourself before you can help others. She spent a lot of time on self-care and journalling to connect with her Divine Team.

Staying true to the intention of business and connecting to why we are in this work has been huge. For all the big choices, tuning into that core feeling has been a guide.

Living by the Reiki Ideals is a core foundation of our work here. Staying consistent with our practice and coming back to these ideals was key. The Reiki Ideals are five principles for leading a happy, joyful life. You can learn more from the book Geneva wrote! The Secret Art of Happiness: Change your Life with the Reiki Ideals.

A lot of gentleness is very important too, especially when you're dealing with a lot of really harsh things. It has been a challenge but also such a great joy.

Staying grounded and present when everything is changingIn our first podcast episode, we cover the big question: How do I stay present and grounded while everything is changing? Geneva Robins and Melissa Adams answer this giant question and chat about their favourite topic, Reiki.

What do you do when everything turns upside down? Reiki really helps us to feel supported through big changes. When we are full of worry or concern, Reiki helps to hold space for our highest good. The Reiki therapist holds a high-vibration space for you to join that energy that you want to stay in.

Grounded and powerfulReiki is a practice Melissa can always return to; it has been life-changing and magical. For Geneva, Reiki is so transformational. It's a doorway to the Divine. As Reiki practitioners, we learn to tap into that energy and information. It creates a space where you can open up to your insight and wisdom.

Daily practice for Melissa is all about grounding. Planting her feet on the earth and allowing that sturdy earth energy to move through is a tool she learned in Level I Reiki. Guided meditation is also a big part of Melissa's practice that helps her even on the hardest day. Her favourites include Sam Harris meditations, LunaHolistic meditations, and Insight Timer.

Even for an experienced meditator, guided meditation can help settle things when you're in big emotions.

Geneva's practice when things are really shaken up is to get help from others. Asking for help can be the world's hardest thing. She will book in for wellness sessions as soon as she spots that she's in a big moment. The power of having someone listen to your story without agenda is a huge gift.

Getting outside in nature is the magic reset for Geneva and her family. Just breathing in the forest for even a moment is an anchor to the slow vibration of nature and helps to bring in that grounded feeling. It helps slow us down to a true state of rest.

Mindful breathing and awareness of the body's sensations are also a big part of Geneva's self-care practice. Each feeling has a sensation in the body. Mindful breathing into the sensation and creating space around the feeling helps the feeling move and shift.

Stay in your Bubble

Clearing the aura is also an important part of the practice as well. The aura is an electromagnetic field around your body and helps us feel cozy yet able to expand. You feel protected and clear and in your bubble. You are less affected by other people's energy and more centred in the calm space inside. Reiki really helps us stay in that clear and vibrant energy bubble.

What is Reiki?A listener asked 'What is Reiki?' In a session, you can release blocks of energy or emotion. You and your practitioner set a positive intention about how you'll feel when that emotion is cleared. Usually, an intention is something like feeling balanced, centred, peaceful and joyful. And then you just lay down, relax and receive the energy. The session is a combination of gentle touch or hands just above the body.

The Reiki practitioner is the conduit for the energy of your intention to flow through. Basically, Reiki is setting an intention of how you want to feel and then relaxing into the energy. It helps you to reset to the calm energy inside. Reiki creates the bridge between where you are and the frequency of your intention.

Reiki is the energy and also the system of how the energy flows. As practitioners, we've learned a method to tap into the frequency of Reiki and transmit it to our clients. You can learn Reiki! We teach in-person and online in hybrid classes. We have classes starting every season.

If you want to learn more about the power of spiritual wellbeing, a great book is 'How to Change Your Mind: What the New Science of Psychedelics Teaches Us About Consciousness, Dying, Addiction, Depression, and Transcendence' by Michael Pollan. The book is about psychedelics, but Reiki is another way to tap into this transformational power too! "Microdosing on the Universe" is how Geneva thinks about Reiki. :)

0:05 Welcome – Introduction to this episode

GENEVA ROBINS: Welcome to the LunaHolistic podcast! I’m your host, Geneva Robins, and every month on this podcast, we'll talk about Reiki, as well as answering your questions on all things spiritual. We are gratefully located in Calgary in Treaty 7 territory. Thank you all, and welcome to the show!

Welcome to the LunaHolistic podcast! My name is Geneva Robins, and I'm here with Melissa Adams today. On this podcast, we talk about Reiki and all things spiritual, our favourite topic. And we're so glad you're here! Welcome. Thank you for being here, Melissa. [laughs]

MELISSA ADAMS: Thank you for having me!

GR: Before we get rolling, especially because this is our first episode, I'd like to start with a moment of deep and true gratitude for the Indigenous peoples of the world, and in particular, the people where we live in Calgary, the Treaty 7 Nations: the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut'ina, the Nakoda, and Métis Nations. Thank you and welcome.

And maybe we'll start with just a collective breath of gratitude. So, everybody, wherever you are, maybe keep your eyes open, if you're driving! Just take a nice, deep breath, and notice the land that you are on right now.

Notice the deep, deep roots of all of the plants around you, all of the animals and birds and insects that might be living on those plants, the air, the sky, the sun, the moon – just noticing all of nature. The water flowing, maybe in rivers or creeks or groundwater around you, maybe even the ocean, wherever that happens to be in relation to where you're sitting.

Just notice it, all of that, and just sending a deep thanks for all of the gifts that we've been so graciously given, just by getting to be wherever you happen to be on the planet right now. Thank you. Ah, gotta love gratitude!

MA: Yeah, it’s nice!

GR: Beautiful way to start, it’s a beautiful way to start.

MA: Absolutely.

GR: Thank you so much for being here with me, Melissa.

MA: Thank you for having me.

GR: Melissa is a fellow practitioner at LunaHolistic where we do Reiki. Maybe we can start by talking about what Reiki is and maybe how you got into this crazy stuff. [laughs]

MA: [laughs] Yeah, I'd love to.

GR: Yeah, what does Reiki mean to you?

3:16 Reiki as a practice that has awakened my soul

MA: Well, I think Reiki has just been, for me, like, a practice that I can always come back to. And it's something that has awakened me, awakened my soul, and it's been so life-changing.

So, I first kind of experienced or learned and heard of Reiki when I still lived in Ontario and my massage therapist was attuned to Reiki, but I never went to see her for that, actually, although she was magical. Every time I went to see her, I would kind of open up to her and I would ask her questions. I would ask her questions about spirituality.

Like, I was in my, getting into my later '20s when I started, kind of, asking these questions. So, I always just felt better – whenever I would see her, I always felt better afterwards, like the world was a little brighter after spending my hour with her. And then I went through some big changes and shifts in my life.

And I actually saw another lady for a Reiki session, still living in Ontario, and it was like, I think my intention was to feel seen and to feel beautiful and sexy. And during that session, I ended up seeing some colours at the start, and like, just with my eyes closed, I experienced some colours, and then I fell asleep or whatever happens. You want to call it sleep, but maybe it's not quite sleep. It's like I went pretty deep. And then afterwards, I felt a little bit more relaxed.

And like, I think it was a week or two later, I ended up driving to Calgary by myself and just kind of picking up and going on an adventure. Yeah, by the time I got out here, it had taken me some time because I was exploring, you know, taking my time.

And then once I got to Calgary and started to settle in, I was still looking for my purpose. I didn't want to work somewhere that I hated. I wanted to do something that I loved. And I was really lost at this point. And I felt like there was something that had pulled me toward uprooting my life and moving to Calgary. So, I kind of, it wasn't an easy journey, for sure. And I was kind of feeling lost and sad, but I know I was searching.

And I remember being in, like, a gem shop and seeing the LunaHolistic flyer, and it caught my eye, the colours, just something about it. And I ended up bringing it home and putting it on my dresser. And then, I don't know, like a month later or something like this, I was back in that same gem shop, looking at crystals and things, cards. And the flyer caught my eye again, and I had popped it in my purse.

And when I brought it home, I had noticed that I had already brought that flyer home. And it just felt like I was seeing these signs all the time. And whenever something synchronistic happened like that, I would just follow it. And so, I called you …

GR: [laughs]

MA: ... because I was like maybe I just need to learn Reiki! And you answered and you were like, “Yeah, class starts, like, tomorrow, or in two days,” or something like that. And I was like, "Okay, well, here we go." So, that was kind of my journey of learning Reiki.

And it was interesting, because I didn't even really know about the chakra system. Like, I was just noticing that life kind of seemed magical to me, like it was, I was finding that the things that used to make me happy, like going out partying, like just frivolous things, didn't work for me anymore. And I was looking for a deeper connection.

GR: Mm-hmm.

MA: And it kinda like, it was where I started my journey and taught me so much, so much about grounding, presence, releasing trauma from childhood and my past, that kind of felt stuck in my body.

GR: Yeah.

MA: And it's still a journey.

GR: It is, and you never stop learning about Reiki. I love that.

MA: No, you don't.

7:44 Take heart! The Universe has your back!

GR: I love all parts of that story, particularly if there any entrepreneurs out there, it's like, take heart, because when Melissa called me, I was like, desperately trying to find my Car2Go, sweating with my bag over my shoulder, going up and down the hill, trying to find this mystery car that would take me to my appointment.

And really hoping beyond hope that, you know, this sort of, you know, I had just opened the LunaHolistic Centre, and just, like, "please make this work." Like, "I've put everything into this venture and I really want this to work!" And classes starting and I had a couple of students and I was like, "eeh?", and then Melissa called and it was just like, "See? The Universe has got your back."

And I always think, like, what you're seeking is seeking you. It's just such a neat little side lesson in that. It's like, while you were searching for something that could help you, I was also searching for, like, "Am I on the right track here?" Like, "Am I doing the right thing?"

And then you called, like, in a moment of, like, I was completely flustered and kind of put it together, and I'm like, "Yes, yes, of course you can start. [laughs] I have no means of taking your information. I don't even know where a pen is. Like, can you please text me and I will send you the information." [laughs]

MA: [laughs]

GR: You know? "I'll get you registered as soon as I can." So, yeah, so I just wanted to put a little call out there so if there are people who are listening who maybe are starting a Reiki practice or starting a holistic business or have got one going and you're just, it's your dream to do that, I just think there is this, like, Divine synchronicity that happens, that draws, sort of, the helpers to the ones who need the help.

And then the cycle of helping, to me, is always that, once you've received the help, then you go on to help others with it, which is kind of the beautiful thing about Reiki is that it's a gift that's meant to be given away, so we teach other people to become, you know, Reiki Masters.

We share our gifts, and to me, the ultimate is to help a person so well that they no longer need your help, but maybe they just come by because they like it, so … [laughs] Thank you for sharing your story to get here.

MA: Thank you.

GR: I agree, Reiki is so transformational, and it just, it has so many lessons and gifts in it. It's like, to me, it's like a doorway to the Divine. It helps you open up to, sort of, the mystery and magic that's beyond the moment, you know, that runs deeper into the, you know, fabric of space and time. And we sort of tap into this timeless, Universal, life force energy, and as Reiki practitioners, we learn to channel that.

And in that process, there's so many, there's so many lessons, there's so much information that's given, there's clarity, that sort of, to me, it sort of helps you connect to those, sort of, epiphany and eureka moments on a regular basis.

So, instead of waiting around in the shower for your Divine stroke of insight, [laughs] you know, you can actually create the conditions where you can open up to, sort of, those magical ideas popping into your head, where you can connect things that, you know, where you struggle. For me, Reiki has been, yeah, life-changing. So yeah, amazing.

MA: Yes.

GR: Thank you.

MA: You're welcome.

11:41 Staying Grounded and present while everything is changing

GR: I love talking about all of these things, and one of our, sort of, main topics for today is how, this big question which is probably on a lot of people's minds, with the amount of change that we've had to deal with in the planet over the past couple of years, and it just seems like a constant, neverending thing, sometimes. [laughs]

You know, just when you think life has gotten steady and stable and predictable, something else happens, which just seems to be the times we're living in. You know, so sometimes it's just about leaning into it. But this idea of, like, how to stay grounded and present while everything is changing.

And, Melissa, I'm curious how, like, what is part of your practice to help you? Like, what do you do when you feel flustered and confuzzled by life and everything seems like it's slipping sideways? [laughs] How do you avoid falling flat on your face and get rooted and grounded again? Like, what helps you hit the reset button?

12:54 What is part of Melissa’s practice to help her stay grounded while everything is changing?

MA: Well, Reiki. I booked a session with you yesterday and that was amazing. It was like, well, just to kind of let everybody hear what my experience was, just yesterday, and then I'll give you, like, maybe a daily practice that I also do as well.

But like, I am getting married, as you know, in literally a week and a day and there's a lot of moving parts around me. The mind can really get going about things, like just, you know, worry. And when I came and sat down with you yesterday for my Reiki session, I just kind of was like, I could see and feel myself just like going on – and this and this and this!

And you as my Reiki Master Practitioner, were, you know, listening intently and holding space for me, and then, like, seeing my highest good and seeing me so happy on my wedding day, and you held that while I was like, "dit-dit-dit-dit" – like, going on about, you know, whatever. And you kind of, like, stayed in high vibration up here, and you allowed me to join you up there.

And then during my session, it just, I just felt so loved and calm and empowered because you had helped me set my intention, and then it's like I became that intention. I became this grounded, happy, joyful, present master of myself. So, that was just so beautiful. That was a way to come back to, like, what's important and who I am and like, that I'm grounded and powerful.

So, sometimes if the momentum's high, maybe it's like going and having a Reiki session with someone or, you know, finding someone in your team to help. But daily practice, I would say is always, like, grounding.

I think that's one thing that I learned when I was learning Reiki, just Level I basics, of learning how to ground myself and really, like, planting my feet on the Earth, and just allowing that presence and that sturdy Earth energy to move through me. And just slowing down, you know, remembering to take a breath, and meditation, even guided, even 10 minutes.

You know, even if it's so hard, I can't even get out of bed. Even if I can't, I'll lay there and listen to something. I love Sam Harris. I love the meditations on the LunaHolistic website, like Insight Timer, there are so many different guided meditations that can just bring us back to mindfulness.

And I don't think that it matters how long, how many years someone's been a meditator for, or if you're just beginning. I think, like, a guided meditation when the mind is going bonkers, can just bring me back to my breath and presence and just hearing someone's steady voice is sometimes what I need early in the morning, especially right now with everything going on and all this change.

GR: Mm-hmm.

MA: How about you? Do you have a practice?

GR: Yeah, I do. [laughs] I have many and multiple because I need all of the help I can get. Yeah, it's funny how quickly your mind can, like, just spin you right off centre. That's what I find, is like, left untended, my mind is a rascal and says mean things about me all of the time. [laughs] So, I have to really be gentle with all of that. So, yeah, I totally agree with you.

16:48 Ask for help when you need it

Like, when things are really, really shaken up, I go and get help from others. Like, that is a big, a big piece of my practice is – asking for help can be, like, the world's hardest thing, especially when we've been trained to, you know, "pick yourself up and keep on going," and, you know, don't stumble or fall or let anybody see you stumble or fall and certainly don't ask for help when you're, like, flat on your face in the muck.

So, a big part from my healing journey has been to ask for help. So, I book myself in for sessions, I make sure I go to my chiropractor, because sometimes it's just as simple as that, of just like, are you in alignment? [laughs] You know, like, and then just the power of having somebody just listen to your story is really amazing. Somebody who can listen without an agenda is a big gift. And then Reiki of course, on top of that, it's just like, so sweet. So, that's a big part of it.

And then also, to getting out in nature has been a huge, huge thing for me. It works when nothing else works. So, you know, we're living in COVID times and I got COVID at the end of COVID. I got it and it sucks and I'm recovering and I felt pretty pathetic and miserable, and felt extremely sorry for myself for quite a long time.

And for me and our family, it's getting to the mountains. So, you know, we live not far from the mountains here. And that is always the reset, like, getting out of the city, getting to the mountains. And so I was like, I just told my husband, I'm like, "Let's just get in the car and go." Like, [laughs] you know, like, "Fill up the water bottles."

And so we drove out and, you know, I wasn't up for much of a hike or anything, but just to breathe in the forest and be in the forest for just even a moment is always sort of this nourishing space. And that's definitely what I've heard from many people as well, like, just having a special tree in your neighbourhood park, or, you know, a little patch of grass in your backyard or something that anchors you into, I find, the vibration of nature is very slow.

Our world is very fast. It's very flickering, we've got these little boxes that flicker lights in our eyes. And so, we kind of are in this like, we've got these, like, caveman brains that are, like, constantly flickering, like, "Danger, danger, danger, danger!" You know, and it just sort of bombards us.

And then when we can, for me, in particular, when I can take myself out of that environment and put myself in a restful habitat, you know, one that is, got a deeper, longer, and wiser rhythm, then just sort of let nature balance me. So, just being out there shifts something in my brain. It shifts something, like it gets me back into my body.

For me, when I'm ungrounded, I notice it when I am knocking things over, when I'm clumsier than usual, when I'm feeling really tired, and I don't know why, my mind is scattered, or I just sort of feel like I'm in a bit of a swirl, like in an eddy, you know, in a river where you're just sort of like circling the drain. [laughs]

MA: Yeah, I know that feeling.

GR: Yeah, so when, what I feel energetically is that, and I feel this for myself, but I also feel it when I do Reiki for other people, is that our energy sort of gets bunched up by our mind, and it's almost like our bodies are just like, carrying our minds around. We're not living in or inhabiting our body. And I think that's a really common thing – it's like, when we get into that fight or flight state, is that we get into this sort of heightened state, and everything kind of goes up.

And for me, I kind of feel the energy with my hands. And it's sort of like, all the energy gets bunched up by my head. My shoulders shoot up by my ears, everything gets really tense, and I get stuck in my thoughts. And so, sometimes just taking, sort of, a deep, mindful breath back into the body and letting the energy balance.

21:16 The third technique is to create space around what you’re feeling

So, one of the things that I like to do is this sort of technique about not trying to change anything, but just create space around what is. It's sort of a mindfulness technique, and so whatever feeling I'm feeling, instead of trying to change it – so maybe I'm feeling confused, or angry, or sad, or whatever distress I'm feeling – instead of trying to, like, take that and, like, throw it outside of me, you know, like getting rid of it, I just accept that it's there and sort of offer it kindness and gentleness.

And then, sort of expand, breathe space around that feeling or thought and sensation. I get this image of, like, a horse in a little tiny, you know, fenced-in corral, you know, like, just barely big enough for its body, you know, where the edges of the fence are really close in and how unsettled that horse is.

If that horse is our feeling, then it's almost like, what if you can breathe space around that feeling and expand the fence? Like creating space so that you can move that fence back so that horse or that feeling has room to move. And that animal has this space to settle, right? It's like, and it goes from under tension and pressure to just this spacious feeling. And this feeling of like, “expand that fence so far that in a thousand years that horse will never touch the edge of it.”

And so, just keep expanding it and expanding it and expanding it and expanding it, and creating, almost like using your breath to create space around that feeling. So, it's like, “it's okay that it's there, it's okay, if you're angry, it's okay, if you're distraught. Of course you are, it's just a signal that something isn't right. It's a signal to try to make things right, but first you need to create space so that things can move, things can shift.

And then what I find is that, without trying to change it, I get to a place where I can observe what's happening, and it can be there. So, if I'm feeling sad about something, I can let myself be sad. Sad won't hurt me. And sadness is temporary, and it's okay that it's there, you know, means I'm a kind, compassionate person that cares a lot about a lot of things, you know.

So, the first step is like, kind of creating space and sort of this idea of, like, taking the pressure off. And then it's about bringing the energy down through my body. So, just even noticing, so like, even just touching your body, so like, bringing your hands, like, down your legs, like, smoothing the energy down your legs, you know, and then noticing the energy in the Earth below your feet.

So, the Earth is a resource of vital energy. Everything we get, everything, every molecule comes from the Earth. Every molecule of our body is present because of the Earth below our feet. And that energy, I believe, is a conscious, nourishing, ancient source of wisdom and power and strength. It is the literal support under our feet, and we always have that. So, if you are under the powers of gravity, so even if you're on the space station, you're still under the force of gravity.

And you're always held in that vibration of love and compassion and support. And so, just noticing that might be true, and that might exist underneath you. And then very, very gently – and in Reiki, we do everything very, very gently – there is this sort of saying of like, “no push, no pull” – you don't need to push the energy to go anywhere, we don't need to pull it to go any faster – but just letting the energy in your body and the energy in the Earth find its own natural balance.

Almost like you, there's, like, two bubbles, and you're just letting, kind of through the process of diffusion, letting the energies find their own harmony.

Some people like visualizing roots growing down into the Earth, sometimes you can feel, like, the energy is coming up to support you, or that you're sitting inside a mountain with the peak of the mountain, top of your head, and this sort of wide base of support all around you. And in that, sort of, space, then it creates this place where you can come back to yourself, and your energy becomes even through your body.

So, when the energy is even through our body, that's usually when we feel good. And I think of it as like, we've got this sort of chakra system in our body, which are basically energy centres that are connected, basically where all of our major organs are, and when the energy is flowing evenly through all of our chakras, we feel good, we feel balanced, and we feel nourished.

And so, it kind of gives you the space to take the pressure off and regroup and reconnect to something far deeper, far wiser, far more nourishing, far more ancient than whatever kind of state we've got ourselves in. So, it helps you put yourself in the long view, too.

So, that, to me, is sort of how I regroup and ground, or sort of the process of like, coming back. And I might have to do it like 15,000 times in an hour to get myself there. [laughs] Sometimes you just gotta call it quits and have a good night's sleep and try again the next day, too!

And then I love meditation as well. Grounding meditations and Reiki are a huge part of my practice, but yeah. Yeah, how does that all …

MA: Thank you!

GR: ... sit with you, sound for you? Did any ideas pop up when I share that?

MA: Yeah, that was so well said and so nice to listen to, like, it was kind of like a reminder of all of the different tools that, you know, we can use to be mindful and, you know, to come back to the present moment.

27:58 Grounding

I loved when you had said, like, you can picture yourself sitting in a mountain. Just like, how grounding.

GR: Yeah.

MA: You know, to imagine ... I did a cave tour once and it was amazing. Like, we literally sat in, like, the belly of the mountain and it was like, cold and dark and quiet and so peaceful.

GR: Mm-hmm. Yeah.

MA: Yeah.

GR: Yeah, and to embody the presence of the mountain, you know.

MA: Yeah.

GR: Yeah, and that feeling of like, oh, it doesn't have to move anywhere, it doesn't have to do anything, it doesn't have to, it just gets to be. And so, I think when we get sort of really flustered, it's like we're trying to "do" instead of really, like, "being."

And when we tap back into our being, that's, to me, where all of our knowledge, all of our wisdom resides, is in the deep, sort of, spirit inner being. And when we're in that place, stillness is there. But also, it helps us connect with the place where the answers are, too, and that sort of simplicity and coming, yeah, coming back to yourself, and sort of dropping out of the mind space, and sort of getting into your heart, into your spirit, into your soul, so that you can be in that sort of clear space.

MA: You know, you had said something, too, about when you were speaking about the chakras, and you know, when our energy centres are balanced, then we tend to feel better, and that really is so true for me as well. Like, you know, if I'm stuck in my head, thinking, I'm not in my body. And I think, like, there's something to be said about, like, getting down into the body and grounding. Like, there are some days, especially, you know, when I was younger, where maybe I didn't even think once about grounding.

I think it's a really powerful tool, especially if there are people out there that are working in the public, or working with other people, it's like staying grounded within ourselves and holding that energy and being in our own bubble.

GR: Yeah.

MA: You know? We talked about that, yeah.

30:25 What is the aura and how does it work?

GR: Yeah, I'm so glad you mentioned the bubble. Because yeah, the other part of our energetic protection is sort of this energy suit we carry around with us, which is the aura, which is sort of our electromagnetic field. And this is a real thing. [laughs] And it's also a real thing. I've got a science background, so I always answer the science sceptic first. [laughs]

But we do, we've got these, like, nerves firing electrical signals through our bodies. And we've got, you know, our bloodstream circulating sort of, these, salt ions all around. And so, there is a genuine electrical field that just comes from the physical body, electromagnetic field.

And we know this, it's neat that you're talking about caves, because cave creatures with no light and many, many animals like deep sea fishes and things, they find their prey because of, they have special sensors that can pick up on the electrical signals of the things that they're going to eat.

So, they can basically feel the presence of life around them, and they can navigate to the ones that are tastiest. But we have this field around us and it's called the aura, and it’s the sum of all of the energy in our body, and it is basically our protective, energetic field, and it keeps all of the energy in our body safe.

So, it's sort of like the plastic coating on a wire. It keeps all of the energy inside your body inside, and it keeps everything else outside. And so, it helps you feel, like, when we're in our bubble, which is basically like, our personal space, you know, one layer of the aura sort of extends around us, kind of what we claim to be our personal space bubble.

And in that field, when that energy is full and bright and clear, and we sort of tend to this energetic space beyond our physical body, it makes us feel cozy, yet able to expand. And so, it also helps us feel, sort of, more centred and protected and in our bubble, right? And what's beautiful is that when you're in your own bubble, not only do you feel cozier, but it's much easier to get into that space of "live and let live."

You are less affected by other people's ups and downs, and more able to just compassionately witness wherever they are, without taking that energy on. And it's very, very important, especially for sensitive, energetic people, to tend to that energy space around your body. And I think it's even important to acknowledge that, you know, maybe we're more than just a physical hunk of meat shuffling about, carrying a computer on the top of our heads. We are so much more than the 3D-self.

We are expanded and connected to all the energy in everything and everywhere. And the aura is like a little packet or a container that helps you feel safe and clear, and where your feelings in your energy can stay inside your borders, and other people's energy and feelings can stay over there.

And it's not about being uncaring or unfeeling, but it's actually about helps you be in the most compassionate, centred, and clear space possible. And in future episodes, we'll get more into how, you know, highly sensitive people and empaths can kind of stay in their bubble, and we'll talk about, sort of, like, aura management and how you can keep your energy clear, even if you're being, sort of, bombarded by life and people with big energy! [laughs]

34:38 Kelsey’s Question
GR: We do have a question from Kelsey, and Kelsey's question is:

34:45 What is Reiki? How does it work? Who can benefit? What are the ins and outs?

KELSEY: Hello Geneva! I am wondering if you can tell me and us what Reiki really is? How does it work, who can benefit and all the ins and outs?

GR: So, Melissa? What, what is Reiki, really? [laughs] How does it work?

MA: [laughs] Good question!

GR: Who can it benefit, and what are the ins and outs?

35:12 Melissa’s and my answer

MA: For me, it's like, it was so life-changing because it's almost like, it is very intention-based. So, during a Reiki session, say I'm receiving Reiki, so I would book an appointment and go in for a 90-minute Reiki session. And usually, someone wants to release something – set an intention, like, whether it's mental, emotional, or physical. Sometimes we feel these things in our body. And usually, we're coming to get Reiki to feel better.

So, for instance, I hold anxiety in my chest, so, in my solar plexus area. So, I might go in for a Reiki session to see if I can release that block that's in my chest. And maybe during a session, I'll speak to my practitioner about what's going on in my life, maybe spend 20, 25 minutes just talking about what's going on in my life, maybe why I have that feeling of anxiety, and then I'll set an intention of how it would feel if I could release that block.

And so, usually, the intention is actually how I want to feel, and how it would feel if this pain was released from my body or from my being.

So, a big one for me is, like, I want to feel peaceful and balanced and joyful. Like, that's how I want to live my life, that's how I want to show up for myself and the people around me, so that's usually my intention. A lot of the times, is to feel balanced, centred, at peace, and so that will be my intention.

And then, as I'm receiving, who the practitioner is, whether I'm the practitioner or someone's facilitating a session for me, the practitioner is the conduit for the energy of my intention to flow through. So, that peaceful, joyful, beautiful energy is being, surrounding me, by the practitioner. So, the practitioner might place their hands on my heart, on my head. There are different positions. Sometimes they can stay completely in my aura, but then I just lay down and receive.

So, it's kind of like, when someone's coming to receive Reiki, it's setting an intention of how you want to feel, and then just laying there and receiving it – surrendering, and just allowing someone to help.

And I've noticed for myself, it just makes me feel like myself again. I almost, like, come back to who I am when all the other shit in my mind, you know, is kind of released. When I'm letting go of all that stuff, they tell me I'm not good enough, or whatever, it's like I come back to this, like, grounded, peaceful, awesome, bright, shiny self that I am naturally just because.

GR: Mm-hmm, yeah, yeah, I agree. I agree. It helps reset to “the spirit inside.” To me, it's like letting the energy inside have more room to “be,” you know. From a practitioner point-of-view, I always think, like, that intention energy, it's in the "everything." It's in that universal life force energy, it's everywhere around us, but it's also inside each and every one of us.

So, when, if we want more peace or hope or joy, that energy or that frequency is already inside, and as a practitioner, it's like Reiki creates the bridge so that you can kind of fill up, but also sort of nurture and nourish that energy inside you, so.

MA: Yeah, it's like connecting to the higher self, in a sense.

GR: Yeah, yeah.

MA: In the physical.

GR: Yeah.

39:27 Thank you Kelsey

GR: I thank you for your answer to that question, and thank you, Kelsey, for that question.

39:32 Learn Reiki

GR: We'll be talking a lot about how Reiki works, and if you're curious, please check out Lunaholistic.com because we have loads of information there, and you can learn Reiki which is really, really cool.

So, as practitioners, we learn how to basically connect to the flow of energy that's in all things. And it's a meditation technique, so when we talk about Reiki, we're talking about the energy; we're also talking about the system, and the system is something that anybody can learn. I learned it, Melissa learned it, everyone who has a desire to connect to something deeper can learn Reiki. We teach both in Calgary and online, so we do hybrid classes, so you can learn anywhere around the world and we can support you with that.

And who can benefit from Reiki? So, if you want to receive your intention, which Melissa had sort of talked about, if you want to get that energy to connect to something greater, something more, all you have to do is be willing to receive the energy of that intention, and be a little bit open-minded about ‘maybe this could work for you!’

If you're a real sceptic, I suggest starting with a really cool emerging-science book called How to Change Your Mind by Michael Pollan, which is actually about psychedelics. It seems a little weird to be talking about psychedelics on a podcast about Reiki, but when I read that book, I was like, "Ooh, this is like Reiki but without the mushrooms." [laughs]

So, what Reiki does is it can help you connect to a spiritual sense of wellbeing. And even if you don't have any sort of spiritual faith or background, it doesn't matter because Reiki is, comes from the place that's connects and is universal to all. So, we'll be talking a lot about that, but that is a really, so, mushrooms are the gateway drug to Reiki. [laughs]

But what I love about Reiki is that it's not chemically-mediated. So, you know, once the chemical's gone from your system, the trip is over, whereas Reiki can keep on going – sort of microdosing on the Universe! So, if you're interested in any of that, that's a really fascinating book. And if you are not interested in taking any psychedelics, great! You can try Reiki and see if it gives you the same trauma-relief lifting benefits. There's pretty much no side effects. It's a lot like a facilitated meditation.

So, we help you, as practitioners, we hold that intention for you, and we hold that space for you to slip into that same frequency that you want to be in. So, you kind of get guided help to get into that peaceful, calm, Zen, wonderful state where you can kind of open up to greater energy within you and all around you. We'll be talking lots more about that.

Thank you, Kelsey, for your question. And if you have a question, we'd love to hear from you. Go to Lunaholistic.com/podcast. And you can record a little blurb, a question, a comment, a mystery of the Universe, and we will do our best to answer your questions. So, thank you very much for that.
