There is mounting evidence that traumatic events are experienced frequently in communities and families. Rose & Kirk's research, (2000) suggests that emotional responses to trauma may play a role in trauma-related psychopathology. Theories concerning trauma suggest that fear, isolation, and substances abuses are essentially prospective issues arising from the events after trauma. PTSD affect people differently and the emotional aftermath can also include emotions such as guilt and lack of self-confidence.

In this episode, I will be chatting with Doug Lawrence, who has been through all kinds of trauma and will be sharing with us his experiences and ways to help deal with issues relating to PTSD and grief when you loose a love one.

Doug has over 30 years of mentoring and leadership experience and is recognized as a thought leader in the mentoring space. Doug authored the book entitled, “The Gift of Mentoring”, “You are Not Alone” which was published January 17th, 2022 and made the Amazon #1 Best Seller list.

We are going to be discussing very emotional issues that may cause a trigger, so, anyone, with unresolved issues might feel some kind of trigger while listening to this episode. If you do, please go seek help or talk to someone you consider a tribe.

Thank you for your support, encouragement and comments!

Like I said in the podcast, the majority of the season (2) two will be dedicated to mental health and mental well-being. I am not an expert in this area, so I will be bringing in experts, people with personal experiences of the different parts of the topic.

In this first episode, I will be chatting with Fatima Oliver about how to overcome childhood emotional trauma and imbalances.

Childhood trauma has been linked to so many imbalances in mental well-being in adulthood. Particularly behavioural, depression, insomnia symptoms and difficulties processing emotions.

Trauma is very difficult to talk about, particularly when it is emotional trauma. Even as an adult, when you try to talk about trauma from the past, you inadvertently start a trigger, unless you have mastered the emotion. One very important thing with trauma is communication, but that is where the problem lies! How do you know who to share these emotions with? How do you build your tribe?

In this season we are going to talk and look for advice from people who have been there and they got the T-shirt too!

Welcome to the third world entrepreneurs podcast, the straight-talking podcast about life, love and business. Today, we will be chatting with one of New Yorks Male health designers about male reproductive health and prostate exam.

Both female and male reproductive functions, in general, are essential for the health and survival of our species. Yet, until recently, the field of male reproduction research and discussion has been surprisingly neglected, possibly due to biases, wrongly considering reproduction to be mainly a female issue, social and cultural misconceptions, stigma, and limited social conversation, which leads to widespread myths and how males view their health.

More information coming later. More info @TWE

No one is born confident, it is a skill that we have all had to learn, and some do better at it than others. Confidence is not a personality trait. It is a skill. It is about learning and trying things out for yourself. There are so many high-achievers in the world, people who get things done when needed, with no procrastination or fear of FOBO. High achievers have a system and strategy they use to ensure they reach their goals.

Welcome to third world entrepreneurs, and thank you for following. Last week I talked about the benefits and drawbacks of entrepreneurship. To succeed in this entrepreneurial journey, you have to adapt to changing situations and create opportunities through it for yourself and others.

As entrepreneurs, we all have different goals of what we are after or chasing? Revenue, profit or growth? But often, a factor that is left out is that of culture—work culture, not just within our own business as entrepreneurs, but also with others we work with. Culture reflects the values you as an entrepreneur bring into the business.

Today's episode will explore the impact of culture on an entrepreneur's success with my guest Nicole Vilaca.

Nicole is the owner and founder of Nomad Creativ, a digital creative service agency. She started her business in the middle of lockdown after realizing she wasn't content with her life's direction - so she took it upon herself to change it! I love people who take charge and are responsible for the changes they want to see.

Welcome to today's episode of the third world entrepreneurs podcast. If you have not yet done so, hit that subscribe button, so you never miss another podcast episode.

Today, we will talk about why perfection is a dangerous illusion and five (5) ways to help you change that mindset.

Many people have problems dealing with the idea of perfection, and it can often scare us into not doing the things we want to do at all! This fear stops us from starting so many things – Like starting your business.

To grow, you need to remove negative people from your life—people who drag you down psychologically or talk you down. People who don't celebrate success with you or indirectly speak negatively to you and makes you feel like shit or treat you like shit. Cut them loose.

Why do you want perfection? what do you fear? FOPO - Fear of people's opinion -There are many negative people on earth, which is good, helps to keep the balance. So, people will always have views, whether good or bad and in whatever you do. But, the fear of what other people think can leave you feeling trapped. We suffer these fears in silence. We believe ourselves to be the only ones because everyone looks and seems to be surrounded by confident people and perfect.  Listen!

Congratulations to all women around the world. Thank you to all African women for all you do for mama Africa. You have helped grow our economy through trade in communities and villages. Growing our agricultural sector, ensuring food is on the table.

When we feel undervalued, we demand equality. History has helped us develop self-reliance skills. When the world wages war against itself, women suffer it internally and externally. My prayers and thought with Ukrainian women at these difficult times. Thank you to the black women for black lives and all who donated to help get black people and people of colour out of the situation in Ukraine.

Thank you to all my African queens for your struggles and sacrifices for freedom.

We are not born with all knowledge, but we make the tools we need!

Welcome to Third World Entrepreneurs—the straight-talking podcast about life, love and business. As the situation in our world changes, so is the podcast.

Many of you asked why keep the name Third World Entrepreneurs after a holistic understanding. The new narrative of Russia invading another country's land, Ukraine, is a new order. The people's response is what I want to relate the question to. Also, how African and blacks, in general, have been treated.

Come on, Mama Africa, it's time to start placing values in your people. What is the African Union for anyway? If we still allow our people to be humiliated on the international stage, have we learnt nothing from history? The value you place on your people shows the value of your economy.

Following on from last week and the perception of value, today we will be talking about Immigration and entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurship is a powerful driver of economic growth and job creation; it opens up new markets and nurtures new skills and capabilities. Just do a quick search on the Tech industry, you will understand the significance of immigrants and entrepreneurship.

What factors contribute to immigrant entrepreneurs' success in these countries?

I recently read an article by a few authors, the article posed and answered a few questions.

The main question was whether migrants in/from emerging economies are more entrepreneurial than natives? The research was based on Chile and why Chile is a better economic location for many South Americans.

Based on their study and investigations, the third world or emerging economies are more entrepreneurial than natives. They theorized that individual and environmental conditions produce selection/discrimination effects in the host labour market. Consequently, these affect the quality of their entrepreneurial initiatives and influence migrants' decisions to become entrepreneurs.

So how do we use these initiatives to create value for ourselves?

Listen to my Podcast and let me know your views!

Until next time...

The name  Third World is no longer being used to describe certain parts of the world, but the perception still lingers. The modern third world is personalized and internalized.

The term was re-defined in 1990 to make it more politically correct. Initially, the word "third world" meant that a nation is "under-developed, but Sauvy argued to differ.

Today's world is plural, so the third world is not just an economic state. Moreover, these nations have overcome many setbacks and are now proliferating. Thus, this categorization becomes redundant in a diverse society.

But, does whom others call you to determine whom you become?

If you refuse to accept whom you are called, the people that give you these names would have to keep changing it, right?.

Because if you are ready to grow, they would have to keep changing what they call you. Failure, powerful, successful or whatever.

For example, certain parts of the world have been called different names for centuries: Barbaric, savages, primitive, uncivilized, third world, underdeveloped, emerging, frontier.

You see, to change what others call you, you need to help shape how you want to be seen, known, or called in the world you want to create. You are not what anyone calls you.

You are what you say you are through your actions and how you view and treat your world.
