Welcome to Hitting Refresh, a place where we candidly destigmatize change, uncertainty, and mental health during our budding careers. I have spent most of my college, and post-college life wondering what is the right career for me. What can give the golden mixture of impact, meaning, and kind people? I love hearing other people's stories and how they got to where they are, and where they are headed. Dasmanthie De Silva is a Sri Lankan-American biochemist focused on CAR-T Cell therapy-driven projects. I could describe her CV in great detail, which is notably impressive, but her personal story shines through any paper she could publish. She discusses moving internationally, mental health as a teenager, and learning how to learn.
Lexi Dyer is a current Master in Public Health student with a focus in epidemiology from the University of Illinois - Chicago. She is a true trendsetter: studying infectious disease during a pandemic, groundbreaking. Not only has she figured out the right program for her, but she also discusses her trials and tribulations during undergrad. Enjoy :)
