There's always time for a good stomp around outside and no better footwear for it than welly boots. Join Nessie and a range of guests as they discuss all things small business, family and creativity.
On our walk today we looked back on our time with each of our fabulous guests from Season One of Put Your Wellies On. We have had a range of amazing business owners on the show, each with their own inspiring story, from fashion bloggers to turkey farmers. We hope that you have been able to learn from their collective wisdom, as we most certainly have!
On today's walk in Put Your Wellies On we chatted to the wonderful Jeanette Aurdal, co-founder of The Oak & Rope Company. We learned about Jeanette's journey creating her own company, with the many ups and downs along the way. Her candidness was refreshing as we discussed balancing work and personal life through the trials of her workshop burning down, going through a divorce, and losing her business partner. She is such a pro-active and positive lady, it was profoundly inspiring hearing how she worked through these challenges to create the beautiful products, company and life she has now. Tune in to hear all about the story behind Oak & Rope!
In this weeks Put Your Wellies On we went for a walk with the fabulous Natasha Kaplinsky. We talked all about the wonderful work she is doing for Holocaust education and supporting under-privileged children through various charities and projects. She also gave us a peek inside the real world of Strictly Come Dancing, and the commitment it took to take her to the final. Lockdown inevitably crept into the conversation, and she told us the unusual way she kept her family and her community sane during difficult times together. Her book Letters from Lockdown is available now from major retailers, and all the proceeds support Barnardos.
This week on Put Your Wellies On we are accompanied by (not-so-peaceful) birdsong. We stopped off at the amazing Turkey farm run by Tom Copas and his family. We strolled around the turkey fields with Tom, hearing all about this multi-generational family farm, the challenges of the turkey industry in the face of Brexit, Covid and the other challenges we're facing right now.
Not only this, but we touch upon Tom's transition to father himself, and how he and his amazing wife Verity are balancing a teeny baby during the busiest season of the year for them! We absolutely loved learning all about turkey farming, and farm life (although Maple did get her little nose zapped by the electric turkey fence when she decided she wanted her Christmas dinner a little early this year!)

This week on Put Your Wellies On we went for a beautiful walk with Molly Mahon, founder of her own amazing block printing company. We got to hear all about the journey she took from complete beginner to block printing pro! After trying out lots of creative hobbies she discovered block printing and fell completely in love.
Over the last decade she has taken her creativity from a past-time to a successful business. Molly is a great example that it is never too late to pursue your passions. Tune in to hear all about how she took on an apprenticeship after leaving her career, gained Cath Kidston as her mentor, and ran a successful business (and family) whilst battling cancer.

Come along with us this week as we walk with Alex from T.A.E Boutique. We strolled around the woods in the dappled sunshine and it was lovely, although we did manage to lose her dog half way through the walk. Don't worry we paused to hunt her back down and everything was OK!
It was amazing to hear about how Alex curates beautiful collections of easy to wear clothes and accessories and her journey into designing her own collections. Alex is the definition of brave with every move she's made with her business, but what I love most is how she has kept family at the centre of everything she does. They come first and foremost without sacrificing her own identity - something I'm sure we can all agree is a fine art to balance.

This week on Put Your Wellies On we walk and talk with Jen Brown, founder of Meet You At The Barre.
Hear about how her business became an overnight sensation when it was placed above Joe Wickes in the Daily Mail's list of top Home Workouts during the pandemic.
Working as a personal trainer for 12 years, Jen decided to take control of her time by starting her own business so she could raise her four wonderful children. She retrained in barre as a low impact and meditative exercise style to suit women in the peri to post-menopause, who are an often overlooked demographic in health and fitness.

In this week's Put Your Wellies On episode join us for a walk around the Sussex countryside with Hopeful London founder Dominique, who designs and manufactures the most incredible bags and accessories here in the UK.
Hopeful was born when Dominique tragically lost her husband very suddenly in an accident, she was left with their three beautiful children to care for and a need to do something but unsure how to fit that 'thing' in around her family, she turned to entrepreneurship and found she was actually very good at it.
