Welcome to Football: A Podcast.
This is our favorite episode to produce because we get to role play as multiple general managers during our draft exercise.
The three of us split 33 picks and make our selections based on what we would do as the GM for the assigned teams. We don't have to worry about outside noise, angry fans, or getting fired.
Again, we're not predicting what will happen in this year's draft; we're prescribing what should happen.
There are surprises ahead for listeners.
Welcome to Football: A Podcast.
This year's cornerback class is as strong and as deep as any position group we've scouted as a podcast. There are more than a dozen players with the talent and upside worthy of being drafted in the first three rounds.
As is the case with this year's crop of receivers, there is a body type, play style, and skillset for any scheme. However, our favorites are the corners who can transcend any gameplan, like Devon Witherspoon, Christian Gonzalez and Deonte Banks.
There are also a number of "mid-round" players that will earn snaps early in their career, like Clark Phillips III, Cam Smith, Julius Brents, Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson, Garrett Williams, Cameron Mitchell and more.
Lastly, we discuss the few corners who are currently being overvalued. Looking at you, Joey Porter Jr., Emmanuel Forbes, and D.J. Turner.
Welcome to Football: A Podcast
Deuce Vaughn forever! Bill and Zack gush over one of their favorite prospects in this year's class. It's just too bad no one's going to draft him.
These running backs, however, represents one of the deepest classes in years, as the players display a wide variety of meaningful skill sets. There's (unsurprisingly) agreement on the top two backs but our evaluations differ wildly starting with our third-ranked prospects.
Israel Abanikanda, Devon Achane, Tyjae Spears, Chase Brown, and Kenny McIntosh are a few of our favorites. We also believe Sean Tucker is the sleeper of this class.
Welcome to Football: A Podcast
Zack and Matt move from the unheralded titans in the trenches to the most glamours spot on the football field. Collectively, however, our player evaluations don't match the allure of the position. Few, if any, of these players will step in as a team's best receiver on the first day of training camp.
Opinions vary wildly in this episode but both hosts believe teams will find valuable contributors in the middle and late rounds this year. Rashee Rice, Dontay Demus, Charlie Jones, Michael Wilson, Marvin Mims and Jonathan Mingo are a few of the players who will make GMs look smart for letting the board come to them.
Welcome to Football: A Podcast.
Bill and Matt stay in the trenches after ranking edge rushers last episode and talk about the goliaths on the other side of the line of scrimmage. Elite left tackles are at a premium this year while serviceable right tackles can be found later in this year's draft.
GMs Beware: You're going to have fewer chances at landing a legitimate franchise tackle than in years past. No one will mistake these players for Penei Sewell or Charles Cross.
Welcome to Football: A Podcast.
Few things can change the direction of a defense as fast as adding a quality edge defender.
Those who disrupt passing attacks become household names and those who help stop the run will usually find their way around the Lombardi Trophy once or twice in their career. That said, those who possess both skills typically end up in Canton.
Bill and Matt discuss the edge prospects in this year's class -- everyone from the usual suspects to the late-round contributors.
Welcome to Football: A Podcast.
We look to continue our streak of prescient quarterback evaluations.
This is one of our favorite episodes to produce annually. This year our scouting reports stray from the consensus rankings. We have a track record of beating the mainstream draftniks and we're poised to do it again.
Max Duggan and Hendon Hooker both get our seal of approval as underrated prospects. We maintain polar opposite opinions on Anthony Richardson and Will Levis. Matt loves Bryce Young; Zack loves Adrian Martinez.
Overall, we rank 17 quarterbacks.
Accurate scouting reports from previous years: Zach Wilson, Justin Fields, Mac Jones, Kenny Pickett, Malik Willis, Carson Strong, Sam Howell, Bailey Zappe, Desmond Ridder, Trey Lance, Trevor Lawrence.
Welcome to Football: A Podcast
We're sorry for leaving you.
We have much to discuss after our four-month sabbatical. There's no better way to knock the rust off than by dishing out our postseason picks and reviewing the year that was.
Bengals, 49ers and Eagles fans will enjoy this episode.
We don't plan on leaving any time soon.

Completing the 19th annual draft in our 14-team, half-PPR league means the moratorium has been lifted on discussing fantasy football.
We discuss each team, but more importantly for the listener, we offer our insights on more than 175 different players.
Players Discussed: Darnell Mooney, Travis Etienne, Allen Lazard, Brian Robinson, Zamir White, Dawson Knox, Joshua Palmer, Tyler Allegier, Michael Carter, Damien Harris, Isiah Pacheco, Christian Kirk, Breece Hall, Mike Evans, Tyreek Hill, Cole Kmet, A.J. Dillon and more.

Greetings from the newly crowned toughest-division-in-football. A case can be made for each team to finish either atop the division or in its basement.

Football is back and so are we. All NFL training camps are now officially open so we celebrate with a preview of the NFC West, home of the defending Super Bowl Champion Los Angeles Rams.
We agree the Rams will successfully defend their division crown and that the Seattle Seahawks are primed to finish in the basement. We differ wildly, however, on our evaluations of the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals.

Welcome to Football: A Podcast.
Don't say we didn't warn you, 49ers fans. The Deebo Samuel trade request can be viewed as the result of 15 consecutive months of poor personnel decisions. Kyle Shanahan the coach is undermined by Kyle Shanahan the GM and this is the most obvious example yet.
NFL teams' increasingly cutthroat approach to foundational pieces of their rosters likely helped pushed Deebo into seeking his big payday ASAP.
We spend most of the episode, however, discussing our favorite draft sleepers discovered while watching tape for last week's "We're-the-GM" Episode.
Players evaluated: Alec Pierce, Kevin Austin Jr., Marcus Jones, Isaiah Likely, Zamir White, Nik Bonitto, Velus Jones Jr., Cam Taylor-Britt, Jelani Woods, Jerome Ford, Tyler Smith, and Breece Hall.
Lastly, we highlight the teams that will be in the best and worst positions to help their franchise next Thursday.

Our evaluations last year of Mac Jones, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, and Trevor Lawrence were incredibly prescient and more accurate than those of many popular talking heads. We attempt to provide the same level of analysis on the current crop.
First thing's first, however -- this is a lackluster class. But the world revolves around quarterbacks so we have to talk about them.
The love for Sam Howell is strong in this episode while opinions on Matt Corral and Kenny Pickett are all over the place. Everyone agrees that Malik Willis is an athletic tank but we struggle defining his NFL upside and debate whether he can reach it or not.
Also discussed: Kaleb Eleby, Carson Strong, Desmond Ridder, Chris Oladokun, Bailey Zappe.

We have much to discuss after our holiday hiatus.
We reminiscence over John Madden’s career as a coach, commentator and video game pioneer.
Matt and Zack graciously let Bill relive his improbable run to the fantasy championship in our competitive, 14-team keeper league.
We’re tired of talking about Antonio Brown so we speed through our takes on the current situation between him and the Buccaneers.
We also detail what’s gone wrong in Cleveland between the Browns and Baker Mayfield before finally wrapping up with a Week 18 preview that involves Zack staunchly predicting three teams for two playoff spots.
Picks are done! Bill is the winner. Everything is coming up “Bill” this year.

Ex-Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo may have put the final nail in Urban Meyer's coffin. The Meyer situation has become untenable within the last week, and we, as a podcast, have moved past the debate of whether he'll get fired to who will replace him. Welcome to Football: A Podcast.
We knock the rust off after a few days of vacation by discussing the recent fissure between Michael Thomas and Sean Payton.
We also theorize what the Colts should and will do at the quarterback position; luminaries like Blake Bortles, Phil Rivers, Marcus Mariota, Mitch Trubisky and Gardner Minshew are discussed.
Lastly, we spend the rest of the episode providing some advice for your upcoming fantasy football season in between nostalgic diatribes of our own league.

No Bill this episode, unfortunately! You're stuck with Matt and Zack.
We did the dirty work of projecting every game in the 2021 regular season off-mic and return to you with our playoff field, postseason predictions and Super Bowl winner.
It's two hours of us discussing the best teams in the NFL -- enjoy.

We've completed our divisional previews for the 2021 season.
Turns out that we saved our most controversial episode for last. Zack has the Bears winning four games; Bill has the Vikings neck-and-neck with the Vikings for the NFC North Crown; Matt is going all-in with Justin Fields.
All hell will break loose in the division this year.

In this episode we respond to listener feedback for the first time after there were qualms with our Atlanta Falcons coverage during the NFC South Division Preview. Please don't hesitate to talk with us on social media; we love the engagement!
We agree in our AFC West preview that it's the Chiefs then every other team battling in 9-8 hell. That being said, Zack almost completes a 180° on his views of the Broncos roster and is damn near bullish on them in 2021. Matt makes a great case for Andy Reid being the biggest problem with Kansas City last year.

We cruise through our evaluations of the Jaguars and Texans, as they don't pose a legitimate threat to win more than six games combined.
Once we put the division's children to bed, we turn our attention to the adults -- the Colts and Titans. Matt and Zack are all about the Colts' deep roster while Bill combines Carson Wentz skepticism and the TItans' offense to project a division win for Tennessee.

We tease all you NFC East psychopaths by discussing recent news around the league before we get to evaluating "Division Overhype." It's never as good or as bad as these fanbases make it out be.
We are unanimous in selecting our division winner and quite shocked to learn we run counter to some of sports media. There's one roster that clearly stands alone as the best; the rest is a mess.

Welcome to Football: A Podcast.
Your hopes and prayers have been answered. Here's your second episode this week.
We delve into the AFC East and determine that this division is a two-horse race with the general public seriously doubting the New England Patriots. It kills each of us to say that.
We also discuss the future of the quarterback position in Miami and how the full rebuild is going in New York.
Most importantly, however, we debate our favorites for which players will get the "Best Shape of his Life" puff pieces written about them as training camps near.

Welcome to Football: A Podcast.
We're back after a two-week hiatus with our knives sharpened and pointed at the NFC West.
All three of us think this division is one of the best in the NFL. However, that doesn't keep Matt and Zack from being highly critical of all four teams. Bill, ever the optimist, thinks everyone but the Seahawks can build on last year's successes.
We discuss our opinions of the Julio Jones trade to start the episode and even find time to work in a few jabs at Aaron Rodgers, a favorite past time of the show.

In the intro Zack pops his mic loud enough to make your ears bleed. If you can still hear afterward, listen to us settle in for season previews of the Bengals, Browns, Ravens and Steelers.
You like the AFC North this year? Yeah, well, we aren't as optimistic. Each team in the division has significant question marks on its roster. Matt called the Browns "paper tigers," but you could apply the term to each team in the AFC North.
We analyze the teams in reverse order of 2020 finish -- Bengals, Browns, Ravens then Steelers.

Colt Brennan was one of college football's most prolific passers and we give his career the reflection it deserves. Wish we could've had him on to share stories about his days slingin' it at Hawaii.
Bill and Zack then proceed to disagree on who has the leverage in the Aaron Rodgers crises, as well as how the Tim Tebow signing impacts the Jacksonville locker room.
And yet we still find time to discuss the schedule release and sleepers from rounds 3-7 of the NFL Draft.

Our official first-round draft grades are in. We use the proprietary Bill Lucas Draft Rubric™ to provide the most in-depth post-draft rankings you'll find on the internet. We don't just throw out letter grades willy-nilly on our pod.
Our ratings on Alijah Vera-Tucker, Payton Turner, Jamin Davis and Caleb Farley may surprise.
We also give our inaugural Bill O'Briens to selections that made zero sense during the first round. We'll always remember you, BoB.
We didn't discuss nearly as many picks as we could've so we'll post everyone's grades on Twitter and Instagram. Engage with us!

Welcome to Football: A Podcast.
We learned quite a bit by watching all three days of the 2021 NFL Draft, including the fact that Kadarius Toney has no eyebrows. Let us know if you have more information on that, by the way.
We discuss Roger Goodell's stupid chair, Jayson Oweh's name changing midway through the first round, and how Najee Harris served Matt a large piece of humble pie.
We also dive deep on Aaron Rodgers, the 49ers' disaster of a draft process and the Bears climbing the board to grab Justin Fields. Lastly, we finish some sentences and preview Thursday's Draft Ranking Episode.
Welcome to Football: A Podcast.
Sunday Surprise! Bonus Episode!
This episode contains our official predictions for the NFL Draft's first round on Thursday.
We've spent seven hours in Episodes 3-5 contemplating what WE would do as the General Manager of each team, but in this episode we project who THEY will actually select.
Things get interesting when we project that Atlanta fails to find a trade partner at No. 4 and decides to take the best available player.
We want everything to be on-the-record when we beat Mel Kiper, Todd McShay, and the "other guys" at NFL Network.
No time stamps today as the entire episode is dedicated to pick predictions.
Welcome to Football: A Podcast!
This is our best episode yet.
We cackle like hyenas as we give our unique pre-draft superlatives and make up our own prop bets for next Thursday's showcase. Bill has also officially started the Tommy Tremble fan club and all three of us bludgeon Ryan Pace and the Bears throughout the episode.
We also discuss the week's news in football and what we've learned from our pre-draft evaluation process.
Time Stamps:
1 minute -- 16 minutes: Justin Fields' seizures, Alex Smith's retirement, and more.
17 minutes -- 1 hour, 7 minutes: Tommy Tremble's fan club, what we've learned from our pre-draft evaluations, would Jacksonville consider any deal for the number one selection.
1 hour, 8 minutes -- 2 hours, 43 minutes: The really funny stuff. NFL Draft prop bets, unique pre-draft superlatives, answering open-ended draft-related questions.
Welcome to Football: A Podcast.
We complete our mock draft! Matt tanks his No. 23 Jets pick so Pittsburgh can grab his favorite running back while we attack Bill for giving Najee Harris to the Steelers.
We discuss Jimmy Clausen's face, whether you can trust Zachs that spell their name with an "H," Troy Polamalu's place among the game's greatest athletes, and Bill walks back his takes on Heath Miller -- somewhat.
Time Markers:
0-18 minutes: Zach Wilson, Troy Polamalu, Health Miller.
18 minutes -- 2 hours, 9 minutes: We make our mock draft picks. Important note: This is what WE would do as the GM of each individual team, not necessarily what we think is going to happen.
2 hours, 9 minutes -- 2 hours, 43 minutes: We each give one player our "Mel Kiper Guarantee" and openly discuss if the Raiders know what they're doing.
Welcome to Football: A Podcast. We have a jam-packed show for you. We B.S., make our mock draft picks, and B.S. again. Near the end of the episode Bill gives a yinzer take that's so hot it'd melt Skip Bayless' face off. We do not make fun of him nearly as much as we should. Time stamps: 0-25 minutes: Discuss why Matt and Bill showed up a half hour late to record our show before discussing some of this week's nimrods in the media. 25 minutes-- 1 hour, 35 minutes: We make our mock draft picks. Important note: This is what WE would do as the GM of each individual team, not necessarily what we think is going to happen. 1 hour, 35 minutes-- 2 hour, 8 minutes: We remember Pat Bostick, LeSean McCoy's birthday party, horrific draft outfits, and Domanick (Davis) Williams.
Listen to how the draft would play out if we were the GM of each team in the Top 10. We provide in-depth analysis -- just look at the length of this episode -- and welcome a friend to the show to help us navigate this year's top prospects.
This is the first in a three-part mock draft series.
