Today I'm joined by NYT Bestselling author, Georgia Hunter, to chat about her novel and its subsequent Hulu and Disney+ TV adaptation, "We Were The Lucky Ones".
I binge watched all of "We Were The Lucky Ones" in one sitting. I then needed to devour the book. This television series and novel could be my favourite piece of media consumed this year. I immediately knew I had to sit down with the book's author, as well as TV series' writer and executive producer, Georgia Hunter to learn more about the genesis of this story, and adapting the book to screen.
This is the story of one family's survival of the Holocaust, told in the most touching, real and raw way. I absolutely loved getting the chance to sit down with Georgia, who's a grandchild of one of the survivors, to learn more about the research that went into writing this book... and the devoting and work that went into adapting this novel in the most perfect 8-episode mini series.
I was on the brink of crying throughout this whole episode. What an absolute privilege it is to connect with Georgia and hear from her point of view what it was like to bring her family's story to the masses, especially during such trying times for the Jewish people.

Renee was my first guest EVER on this podcast just over 2 years ago, so I was so excited to welcome her back on the show!! I have loved every single book of hers to date, and knew I would love her latest release just as much.
We spoke in depth about her film background and what it’s been like adapting her books to the screen (her novel “Wish You Were Here” will be released in 2025, with Julia stiles’ directorial debut!) - and how she manages to write all of her novels so cinematically.
The highlight of this episode for me was getting to ask Renee all about her writing process for this newest release in particular (without any spoilers!), especially focusing on the different storytelling techniques, and her inspiration for the story.

This is one of my favourite books I've read this year, and it came in such an unexpected way! I loved getting to chat with Alicia about her writing background, our shared love for Paramore (YES!) and of course do a deep dive of this book.
The trope usage was chef's kiss, the text banter was A1, the steam was OFF THE DAMN CHARTS! So much of this book I truly adored, especially how layered and real the characters were.

This book was such a special read for me, since it's set at my favourite place on earth... sleepaway camp! I was so excited to chat with Kate after learning a bit about her background in entertainment news and improv comedy -- and it was such a treat to discover just how much MORE we had in common!
I loved chatting with Kate in depth about this book, while still remaining completely spoiler-free. We chatted about many of the key themes explored in this book, from work burnout and giving yourself the grace to take time away, self discovery in your 30s, the importance of friendships as you get older, the bliss of falling in love, and why nostalgia in books just feels so good. Today I’m joined by contributing editor at Vogue and freelance journalist, Michelle Ruiz, to recap the movie adaptation of our shared favourite book, Robinne Lee’s “The Idea Of You”.
I first heard of Michelle when she wrote an article for Vogue back in 2020 about my favourite book. Since then, we’ve both been anxiously awaiting the release of the book’s screen adaptation, a movie now available to stream on Prime Video starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine, and directed by Michael Showalter.
I am THRILLED to have Michelle on the show today to dive deep into both of our POVs on this adaptation. As (very) passionate fans of the book, you can imagine we have some critiques. However, what we can say, is that you have never listened to a more comprehensive review of a book to screen adaptation EVER!!

DID YA MISS ME?! Today I'm joined by screenwriter-turned-romance author Alison Rose Greenberg, to chat about her latest book "Maybe Once, Maybe Twice".
Alison's book is my favourite read of 2023, and upon reading it I immediately knew I had to come out of my winter hibernation, and record this very special episode for all of you!
We spoke in depth about Alison's writing background, the inspiration behind this story in particular, how she managed to write a love story in THREE different timelines, some of the really tough but important plot lines included, AND THAT ENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was such an incredible episode to record, as I learned so much from Alison's POV and somehow fell even more in love with these characters (didn't know that was possible!!)

This is one of my favourite books of the year - so I couldn't WAIT to chat with Regina about her spectacular debut! For fans of Robinne Lee, Tia Williams, Kennedy Ryan and beyond... you will all be OBSESSED with Regina's book!
The story read like a Shonda Rhimes drama - and I think that's one of the reasons I loved it. Regina and I chatted about the intentional trope use in this novel (and how she played with them vs. how they are conventionally used), her intentions with creating flawed characters, the trajectory of this story - and so so so much more.
This is a powerful love story that you should all read! What a chat!

You may recognize Kara as the "villain" on The Real Housewives of Toronto, but let me assure you - Kara is anything but!! I was in for the surprise of my lifetime with this conversation. I really had no idea where this talk would take us, but MAN what a journey!
I learned so much about Kara's professional background, and how the opportunity to be a reality TV star crossed her desk. More importantly than all the crazy BTS stories she shares (and there's A LOT!) I loved getting into the main themes of this book and chatting about the importance behind female friendships and feminism.

I was definitely skeptical when picking up this book, because I heard the main trope used was Insta Love, which sometimes is really hard to nail. Bridget did such an amazing job at executing a difficult trope, by setting this romance in an adult-only summer camp, and having it be a real story of self discovery.
I loved chatting with Bridget about the themes of this book, how the story came to her, and why she thinks it's so important for readers to indulge in this type of book right now.

Nina (also known as @pillowtalkreads and @pillowtalkwrites on Instagram!) started her bookstagram account around the same time as me, and we quickly became friends. When she reached out to tell me she has written a book, I was so surprised and SO IMPRESSED!
I knew her love story would be one I'd adore, simply because we have the same taste and preference in romance books. And I was of course right!
"Because Of Us" has been POPPING OFF lately on Kindle Unlimited, and for the right reasons! This is one of the most raw, emotional, swoony and sexy second chance romances I've ever read.
I LOVED chatting with Nina about her decision to start writing, how it's been promoting herself as an author -- while also being a bookstagrammer, favourite moments from this book, and what she's got going on next!

I love all romance books that have Jewish undertones, and when I found out this book was a Hannukah love story - I knew I had to dive right in! This book plays with some of the best tropes including fake dating, practice dating, getting snowed in, and so much more!

Today I’m joined by debut romance author, Melissa Baron, who wrote the imaginative romance novel, "Twice In A Lifetime".
This book is one of the most underrated books of 2022 - and is also one of my favourite books of the year! It tackles so many challenging topics, so I would certainly recommend checking out the trigger/content warnings prior to picking this one up.
I absolutely LOVED getting to chat with Melissa about the inspiration behind this story because of how unique the concept is -- and how it grabbed my attention from the first pages. I love how gently it broached heavy subjects, how wonderfully easy it was to suspend disbelief, and how ooey-gooey delicious Ewan, the male MC was!

Today I’m joined by one of today’s leading LGBTQ2+ romance authors, Alison Cochrun, who wrote the new holiday romcom “Kiss Her Once For Me”.
Alison’s debut novel, “The Charm Offensive”, made waves upon its debut, as one of the top M/M romances released that year. In her sophomore novel, Cochrun has taken a spin on the beloved 90s romcom “While You Were Sleeping”, and completely transformed the story into one of the best holiday romances I’ve read this year!

In this episode I’m joined by author, Award-winning audiobook narrator and actor, Julia Whelan, who wrote the new romance book, “Thank You For Listening".
I first heard of Julia when she narrated "Gone Girl" in 2012 - but she later went on to win multiple Audie Awards for her narrations of "Educated", "The Witness", "My Year of Rest and Relaxation" and so much more. Her debut romance novel, "My Oxford Year" is one of my favourite love stories I've ever read - so getting to chat with her about her prolific career is such a dream come true!!
This book is a true love letter to romance books in all its forms! First of all - the love story is between two romance audiobook narrators. Wrap your head around that!!! Second of all, there are SO MANY tropes in here - it's heaven. There's nothing like a romance book that pokes fun of romance books and that's a hill I'll die on.

This was such a special book and unlike anything else I've read. It's such a unique story and a complete love letter to Jewish cuisine and NYC.
