Standard Individuality Founder, Kailey MacDonald, dives into the complexities of being an individual and staying true to who you are in a world of sameness. Listen to the quick 10 minute episodes on your daily walk, drives to work, or while picking up your groceries.
This week we're focusing on the moments of not feeling motivated. It can be hard to experience those days of not wanting to do anything, let alone get out of our cozy beds. It's a feeling a lot of us go through but rarely talk about. As we're constantly surrounded by people who are seemingly doing it all, it can be a challenge to get up and accomplish what you want to do. Being able to accept the lack of motivation is the best way to work through it.
This week we're drawing attention to the fact that the people you spend the most time with do affect you. Navigating your late teens and 20s is challenging as it is. Being surrounded by external and internal pressure is a lot to handle. Looking at the individuals you choose to dedicate most of your time to is an important exercise. They could be bringing more negativity into your life which causes you more pain. Surround yourself with those who bring you happiness. You want to leave feeling better than when you came. Love, light, and joy is the goal of any and all relationships!
This week we're chatting about being an individual. Specifically, taking your own path in life. In high school and college, it's hard to not let the pressure of what everyone's doing around you get to you. If you can, take a step back from the noise. Give yourself the space to figure out what you truly want to do and what will bring you the most happiness. There is no specific timeline in life, it is only what you set for yourself.
This week we're talking about the importance of questioning everything. Look at your life from an outside perspective and ask yourself about your lifestyle, relationships, choices, etc. You gain freedom through asking questions and challenging the norm. Being an individual comes with unique thoughts and opinions. Don't settle into the box society has built for us. Question everything!
Today is 2/2/22!!! It is a magical day for creation. Grab your journal or a piece of paper and your favorite pen. Dedicate 5 or more minutes to sit down and manifest. Write down dreams you envision, anything you want to happen, and everything you're grateful for in the present. If you've never done this before, today is YOUR day! Setting your intentions and putting everything out into the universe (without expectations) brings all of it to you even faster. Do it, you got this!!!
This week I am joined by my incredible mom! As a parent, life coach, counselor, and author she holds so much wisdom. Taking the last episode "social media is a fake reality" to another level, we talk about the pressure and stress people in their 20s are currently facing. Through our conversation, she normalizes the feelings of being overwhelmed and lost. Jill gives great tools and exercises to work through self-doubt, negative thoughts, and building towards your dreams. For this episode, she is also your mom!
This week we're talking about the detriments of social media and its constructs. Being in the midst of a much-needed social media break I have gained newfound clarity. It is so necessary to weigh the effects of the various apps you expose yourself to for endless hours each day. Your mental health and loving yourself are more important than Instagram. Staying true to who you are and continuing on the path that is meant for you can sometimes be challenged by the consistent presence of social media. Give yourself a break from this second reality.
Looking at 2022 you can see it in two ways. A new beginning or just a continuation of your ongoing life. If you're feeling weighed down by people use this year as a reason to put yourself first! Prioritize your happiness and well-being. Surround yourself with people that uplift you and make you feel good. You deserve to be loved and supported!
Happy New Year!!! 2022 is going to be your year! Take advantage of this fresh start. Work towards routines you've been wanting to start, habits you want to stop, and the lifestyle you want to create. This feels like a special year. Reflect upon new things you want to incorporate into your life like journaling, reading, or exercising more! You're going to accomplish it all!
This week we're focusing on how the perspective you hold creates your reality. Being able to zoom out and gain the bigger picture in what you're experiencing will provide you with a different vantage point. Take time to look at things from various perspectives. This gives you the ability to help process through the experience you're currently going through. Create a reality for yourself that is filled with more love and happiness. You got this!
This week we're talking about feeling and validating your emotions. Everyone goes through difficult moments and low points. Confronting your emotions and being able to process them can help you get through what you're feeling a little easier. Anything you're feeling is okay and valid.
Since Thanksgiving was last week it is only fitting to focus on gratitude. Taking a moment to think or write down everything and everyone you're grateful for can recenter your energy. By understanding the small things you hold a strong appreciation for, can bring more love and joy into your existence. Allow your gratitude to guide you towards experiences and people that are in your highest good.
This Wednesday we are highlighting the importance of taking responsibility for the energy you emit into the space around you. Whether you exist in a lower or higher vibrational frequency, it is key to understand that the energy you bring into a room matters. Light up each room you walk into and uplift people in the smallest ways throughout your day.
This week we are focusing on the importance of having a daily routine. Prioritize the smaller moments like making your bed, spraying your favorite perfume or cologne and going to bed with a cleanroom. When incorporating positive habits into your day, it will create a sense of content and calmness.
This week we're discussing why we feel the need to fit in. Growing up and going to school there is a subconscious desire to be accepted by your peers. Being an individual and doing your own thing is not something that is celebrated or highlighted in society. Social media, TV, and movies affect the way you want to interact with those around you. Staying true to who you are and doing what brings you the most joy will allow the right people to enter your life.
This week I wanted to share a personal moment I had of true self-care. Taking the time to connect with nature allowed me to reconnect with myself. Making a point to do small things that bring you pure joy and allow the weight of the world to fall away momentarily is so important. Prioritize yourself and continue to treat yourself with kindness and gentleness.
This week the conversation is focused on how two of the biggest parts of society (school and social media) don't create space for individuality. Starting at such a young age we are constantly being influenced by those around us. With structures in place that are mainstreamed parts of society, it's hard to step back and realize how much of an effect it has on you. Doing things that you love and staying true to who you are is going to lead you to a more joyful, peaceful, and content existence.
This week we're highlighting the importance of prioritizing you. Check in with yourself and spend time doing things that uplift you. Once your mental and physical wellbeing is in a positives state, your life will begin to align towards paths that are best for you. Continue moving towards feelings of joy, happiness, love, and support.
This week I am joined by my boyfriend Evan Krasnick. We discuss the importance of maintaining your individuality and independence within a relationship. Staying true to who you are as you begin to experience life with another person is the key to a successful relationship. Building a strong relationship begins with a solid foundation based on communication.
This week is the perfect time to talk about the societal pressures of your 20s. As I turned 20 Friday, I processed through all of the unsaid expectations for the next decade of my life. Understanding that you should do what you want when you want, is the key to creating your own happiness. Let go of the weird pressures set for whatever age or stage of life you're in, it's NOT worth it.
The topic of this week's episode is communication. Having the ability to communicate your thoughts, perspectives, and emotions is a key part of bringing you closer to your individuality. As you realize how valuable your voice is, it can bring you to new levels of confidence within yourself.
This week we're focusing on change. Everyone experiences minor or monumental shifts and changes throughout their life. How you handle and deal with the emotions that come along with those moments is what truly matters. No matter the situation, you will always be okay and there are so many important lessons that you will learn. Are you able to flow with the changes or against them?
This Wednesday we cover the difference between happiness and joy. Each relates to individuality as choosing to be who you are comes with various emotions. Being an individual can provide long-term joy and moments of short-term happiness. Your life experiences are defined by emotions. Let them guide you and bring you out of your comfort zone. Remember to always be you!
This week is a major time for college move-in. For new students, it is key to understand the newfound space you are given in this new environment to truly be yourself. We talk about embracing your freedom and getting a sense of your personality outside of your comfort zone. Enjoy the taste of adulthood surrounded by fresh faces.
