University days was quite a buge fun for some of

us.

Hi guys. I have been thinking on how to relate my first few week experience at the university, now #hive-naija made the opportunity real.

My first few weeks as a jambite wwWhen I got admission into the university, I thought life was going to be very swift and loving until I was caught in a web of confusion.

In our hostel, owned and managed by the school, there was no electricity and hence water supply was hampered. After consulting necessary offices, nothing seem to be working. We staged a protest, agitating for our rights, only to be chased out of the school premises for boycotting academic activities for seventy-two hours.

This time, I was just about three weeks in school. We stayed at home for another eight months. It was an experience that has registered in my auto-retrieval membrane.

Strike actions from lecturers in many institutions have prolonged the stipulated time a student ought to spend pursuing a degree in Nigeria University. It is an abnormal case and it is destroying the system. An average Nigerian university student who is meant to spend atmost four years will in most cases spend as much as five to six years.

Every Wednesday in our school is for curricular activities. These kids are preparing different presentations for the graduation ceremony from Pre-primary to primary school and from Primary school to college.

The presentations will include science exhibition, choreography, talk show, award presentation, cultural dance among others.

The Igbo or southeast cultural dance is always attractive to watch. Much later, when that is covered, I will bring you all an update.

For today, the kids are trying out a rehearsal/choreography of #Mercy Chinwo latest song.

The little girl in the front roll is the brain behind the moves, she is adding and removing some steps that does not conform to the beats.

As an educator, I find out that kids are usually very active when they are engaged outside the classroom. This method should be applied so that no one will be left out of the teaching-learning process.

LETS STOP CRUELTY AGAINST ANIMALS

In the world today, there are preferences for animals over animals as the people would prefer to keep dogs, cats, guinea pigs, birds, horses etc. Fortunately, some of the animal pets meet with the right kind of people, but some are just too unlucky.

Animals that are kept in zoos of the higher institutions of learning suffers much. Taking a closer look, these animals are taken away from their natural habitats and kept in confinement which accounts for restriction of movement and so on.

Rather than killing them, we could use them productively. Monkeys are productive in coconut plucking and have been used in some farms for that purpose. But monkeys also suffer massacre in the hands of many hunters as the are murdered arbitrarily.

In the above video, I watched the Australian bush-born fire in Queensland. It was a death zone for animals. The fires started in various ways: some by lightning, some by human actions, including arson. However, it's the climate conditions that provide ample fuel for the fires to grow and spread. Before the fires ignited, Australia was already enduring its hottest and driest year on record. The point here is that animals were killed, their homes were razed. It was a tearful experience for the creatures.

One thing that caught my attention was the way the forest guards, fire service and other Australian agencies waded into the situation. Carried animals out of the danger zone and gave them the needed care.

I think that was an exemplary move by the people of Australia. The world should learn from that bold step and make wildlife balance the ecosystem.
