Jesus tells His listeners that He’s doing something new. He doesn’t want to patch up our old lives but instead, He wants to give us brand new lives that worship God from a new, soft, heart, not an old stony one.
Whatever we do for God must be done from a heart that loves Him and loves people. The heart behind our sacrifices matters to God.
People bring their paralysed friend to Jesus and first he forgives the man’s sins and second, he heals. God knows what we need the most even when we are unaware.
Jesus cast demons out of 2 men and they were healed. Demons harass and possess people even today. As believers, we need to be aware of the schemes of the devil, but never afraid!
Salvation is free but there’s a cost to being a disciple of the Lord Jesus and that cost is having to trust God daily for all things that pertain to life. Faith in God is the cost.
The Gospel writer, Matthew, tells us of the healings of Jesus showing us His compassion and willingness to help people.
To have an ‘unshakable’ life when the storms come we need to build our lives on the solid rock foundation of God’s Word. Jesus tells us that the wise person will both hear it and obey.
We never want to hear God tell us to depart because He never knew us. What needs to happen for God to ‘know’ us?
Jesus told us we only have 2 real choices in life; the narrow path or the broad path. Hint—the narrow path leads to life. I’d go with that one.
Jesus teaches that prayer involves asking, seeking and knocking. He says we should be persistent and passionate about prayer.
Jesus said, “Do not judge or you will be judged,” and often it is misunderstood as to what He actually meant by these words. Today we discuss this passage in more detail.
Jesus tells us that as followers of God we are not to worry because we have a Heavenly Father looking out for us.
Jesus speaks of two kinds of treasure, earthly and heavenly. He encourages us to store up heavenly treasure because our heart is where our treasure is.
I discuss the reasons why Christians fast. I look throughout the Scripture and see reasons why other faith-filled people fasted and the good that it can produce.
When we pray (not ‘if’), Jesus tells us specific things for effectiveness. He gives us a model prayer as a guide to help us in our ‘secret place’ with God.
God sees our righteous deeds done in secret and Jesus says that He will reward us openly for them!
Jesus came to fulfil the Law. Here He teaches His followers that God has removed our stony heart and replaced it with a new, soft, devoted heart to God and our lives now flow from this new heart, and not out of duty.
Jesus says we are blessed when we are persecuted for His name. We will discuss this topic and what it is to have a life worth living and a death worth dying.
