Coaches look at hundreds of profiles—but most of them miss the mark.
In this episode, I break down what actually makes a college baseball resume stand out and how to create one that gives your son a real shot at getting recruited.
We’ll cover: ✅ Why most profiles get ignored after 30 seconds ✅ The key info coaches are really looking for ✅ What to include beyond just stats and metrics ✅ How to use video, academics, and your schedule to boost visibility ✅ The tool I built to help families put it all in one place
If you want your son to stand out, don’t just fill in numbers—build a profile that tells his full story.

How to Choose the Right Showcases and Camps for Recruiting?
With so many invites hitting your inbox, how do you know which showcases and camps are actually worth it? In this episode, I walk you through how to filter out the money grabs and focus on the events that give your son the best shot at real recruiting exposure.
In this episode, we’ll cover: ✅ What makes a showcase or camp truly valuable ✅ The red flags that signal wasted time and money ✅ Why it’s critical to know which coaches will be there ✅ How to tell if an invite is the right fit for your son ✅ The role of game performance vs. pure metrics
Smart families aren’t going to every event—they’re going to the right ones.

With the transfer portal, NIL deals, and fifth-year seniors still on rosters, the college baseball landscape has changed—especially at the Division 1 level.
In this episode, I dive into: ✅ Whether D1 baseball is still a real option for high school players ✅ How the recruiting process has shifted in today’s environment ✅ Why “hope” is not a strategy—and what to do instead ✅ How we’ve helped players (even fringe D2/D3 guys) land D1 offers in 2025
It’s not impossible—but it is harder. Coaches are leaning on the portal more than ever, and without a plan, it’s easy to get lost in the noise.
The good news? There are still D1 schools recruiting high school players right now. The ones getting those opportunities have a plan, know where they fit, and target the right schools.
Are you chasing the logo—or finding the right fit? Let’s talk about what it really takes.

Wondering if your son has what it takes to play college baseball?
In this episode, I break down the skill sets, athletic benchmarks, and intangibles that college coaches look for at every position and every level—D1, D2, and D3.
We’ll cover: ✅ Velocity ranges for pitchers by level ✅ 60-yard dash times, pop times, and exit velo expectations ✅ What really matters beyond the numbers ✅ Position-by-position breakdown: pitchers, catchers, infielders, outfielders, and more
If you've been asking, “How hard should I throw?” or “Is my 60 good enough?”—this episode is for you.
Here’s the truth: it’s not just about metrics—it’s about mindset, athleticism, and coachability.

Without a clear direction, you’re just winging it—and that can lead to ending up at a school that doesn’t fit. The last thing you want is to feel stuck or enter the transfer portal later on.
In this episode, I break down: ✅ Why this question is the key to finding the right school ✅ The 5 types of college experiences & which one fits you best ✅ How to avoid common recruiting mistakes that lead to transfers

I hope you're doing well and enjoying the Fall. As the next baseball year approaches, many of you are probably in the trenches of the recruiting process with your son. You might be wondering, "Should we aim for D1 only?" Well, I would suggest keeping all of your options open and try to avoid the "D1 or best mentality". Myth 1: D2 and D3 Athletes Don't Go Pro Contrary to popular belief, MLB scouts don't solely hang around D1 campuses. A significant number of D2 and D3 players have not only been drafted but have also made it big in the pros. So yes, your son can dream big, even at a smaller school! Myth 2: D2 and D3 Teams Cannot Beat D1 Teams Think again! Every year, D2 and D3 teams stun D1 powerhouses. Talent exists at every level, and games are won on the field, not on paper. Myth 3: D1 Walk-ons are Better Than D2 and D3 Student-Athletes While D1 has the allure, it doesn't mean that a D1 walk-on is better than a starting player at a D2 or D3 school. Level doesn't define talent, and a walk-on spot at a D1 school may not offer the same opportunities as a starting position at a smaller program. Myth 4: The D2 and D3 Experience is Not Great Small class sizes, close-knit communities, and often more balanced life-school-sport commitments make for a compelling experience at D2 and D3 schools. Sometimes, smaller is better. Myth 5: D3 Schools Can't Give Aid $$$ Financial aid packages at D3 schools can be quite competitive. While they might not offer athletic scholarships, academic scholarships and grants can make a D3 education quite affordable. Here are a Few Points to Keep in Mind: Recruiting Starts Later: Typically, D2 and D3 schools begin their recruiting process a bit later than D1 schools. Smaller Budgets: D2 and D3 schools generally have smaller recruiting budgets, meaning they often focus on local talent. The recruiting game has room for everyone. Just remember, the goal is to find the best fit for your son, both academically and athletically. As always, feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further guidance.

If the world of college baseball recruiting feels like an overwhelming maze, you're not alone. From travel ball to showcases to school camps, there are countless avenues to consider and it's hard to know where to focus. But don't worry—our latest video dives deep into all these options to give you a clearer path forward.
🎯 Travel Ball While summer travel ball offers great playing experience, its effectiveness for recruitment has dwindled. Unless you're part of a top-tier team, you might not get the exposure you're aiming for. As for fall travel ball, think twice. It's often not worth the investment given the limited college contact period.
🌟 Showcases These can be goldmines for recruiting if you pick the right ones. Look for events where you know decision-making coaches will attend and where you'll do more than just a 'pro-style' evaluation. You want showcases that offer both skill assessments and actual games for a well-rounded evaluation.
🏫 School Camps These are fantastic for deepening relationships with specific schools. However, be wary of generic email invites. Focus on camps that align with your academic and athletic targets. The ideal camp should be at least a day-long and offer both skill drills and gameplay.

The NCAA Division I Baseball Championship is structured as a tournament with 64 teams. These teams are chosen from an eligible pool of 300 teams, with 30 being awarded an automatic bid as champions of their conferences, and 34 being selected at-large by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. 16 teams are given national seeds, and have the option of hosting a super regional if they advance to the second round. The tournament consists of four stages:
Regionals: The 64 teams are divided into 16 brackets of four teams each.
Each bracket is conducted as a double-elimination tournament, meaning a team isn't eliminated until they lose two games.
Super Regionals: The winners of the regionals, a total of 16 teams, move on to the super regionals.
These teams are split into eight pairings and compete in a best-of-three series.
Men's College World Series (MCWS): The eight winners of the super regionals proceed to the MCWS in Omaha, Nebraska.
Here, the teams are divided into two double-elimination brackets of four teams each.
Men's College World Series Finals: The winners of the two MCWS brackets meet in the MCWS Finals, which is a best-of-three series to decide the NCAA champion.
The Men's College World Series is the final stage of the NCAA Division I baseball tournament. After two rounds of play (the regionals and super regionals), there are just eight teams left.
These teams head to Omaha, Nebraska, for the MCWS, which is the culmination of the tournament.
Regionals start this Friday on ESPN!

College scouts don't care about your rating or ranking in baseball.
In today's video, we are going to cover why that is the case & what you should be focusing on. Stay until the end so you can understand what these college scouts look for.
First off, being graded off of 5 throws, a short bullpen, 8-10 swings, and a 60 does not give a good overview of you as a ballplayer. What about a game or a few games at least?
Don't get me wrong, there is some value we can take from our metrics and where we can improve, etc.
But I talk to parents and athletes all the time who stress over the grade they received - don't put value in it. There are a lot of other things we can focus on that we cover in the video.

By the end of this episode, you will have learned:
What are the priorities of a college catcher
What college coaches look for in a high school catcher
What are the average pop times at the D1, D2, & D3 levels
Visually watched a catcher in high school who is committed to a D1 school
It's undoubtedly the most demanding position on the field.
If you are weak at the catching position, your team will not last very long.
It takes not only physical and mental toughness to succeed at the catching position but the desire to be great.
It's the only position on the field where all your teammates look at you all at once. You have to want it to be back there because if you don't, it will push you out.
Great catchers that keep playing are well-rounded and have a strong understanding of the game.
So what makes a well-rounded catcher?
Physical ability - receiving, blocking, footwork, arm strength, hitting ability
Mental toughness - catchers need to be able to handle pressure and make quick decisions on the field
Baseball IQ - catchers need to think ahead and have a strong understanding of the game and its strategies.
Leadership skills - great catchers carry themselves like one and put the team and his pitching staff first.

In today's podcast, I am going into detail about what a D1 pitcher looks like in high school. Most of these attributes don't just apply to D1 but to all the levels - D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO. Are we going to talk about velocity? Of course, watch the video or listen to the podcast. But it's not all about velocity. Velocity or physical attributes do not guarantee success as a pitcher, a good pitcher typically has a great understanding of the game, good repeatable mechanics, mental toughness, and the ability to adapt. In addition, coaches often look for pitchers who are aggressive, have a good work ethic, and are coachable. There is much more and I look forward to sharing that with you. Let me know if you have any questions.
This podcast is here to help high school baseball athletes and their parents navigate the college recruiting process.
Thank you for listening.
