Burnout and retirement readiness can feel almost identical, but confusing the two can have serious consequences.
After 35 years as a senior HR executive, Andrea Maizes walked away from her corporate career and quickly learned that exhaustion isn’t the same thing as being ready for what’s next. Losing the title, the structure, the social network and the built-in purpose was far more destabilizing than she expected.
Today, Andrea is a certified executive and retirement coach (ACC, CPRC) who works with founders, CEOs, and senior leaders navigating major transitions. She helps high achievers slow down long enough to ask the right question: Am I running from something… or moving toward something?
Because at 55+, a reactive exit can impact income, identity, and future options in ways people underestimate.
Andrea is the author of Your Next Edit and the creator of The Next Edit Substack, where she focuses on the emotional, psychological and social side of life after success - the part traditional planning rarely addresses.

This one’s for every woman who’s achieved everything…and is still searching for something more.

Mary’s Bio
Times have changed. Your financial planning strategy should too. What worked for our grandparents and parents won’t necessarily work for us today when it comes to developing a strong financial portfolio.
That’s why you need a financial coach by your side, one who can guide you past every milestone toward the financial goal you set for yourself. I want you to experience the wealth you deserve.
I help clients optimize their income potential by using the financial products that are right for their unique circumstances. I call that a smart strategy. My clients call it success.
Work with me, and I’ll teach you how to expand your legacy without sacrificing the ability to enjoy the wealth you’ve created. I believe that each generation should be unapologetically better off than the previous one and should pave the path for the generation ahead. Together we’ll develop the intentional strategies that will unlock your potential for unparalleled abundance.
My clients are already successful; they hire me to help them get to the next level of financial prosperity. It’s about creating meaningful significance while preparing for the future.
As a second-generation financial advisor, I began my fascination with investment planning in childhood, where I often had dinner conversations with my parents about using wealth as a tool rather than an end goal. Currently, I’m in the top 1% of the industry nationwide. That recognition has allowed me to teach at several national conferences, and nationally-
Known financial firms have hired me to train their advisors on the remarkable strategies my clients get to take advantage of. I’ve had the honor of working with a diverse array of clients around the country…those who look outside of the status quo. Called “one of the most innovative financial advisors in the country” by USA Today, “the Brené Brown of personal finance” by my clients, and most importantly, “Mom” by my kids, I understand the working professional who wants to have it all, and it’s my mission to show you how you can make that dream a reality.
When you’re one of the few women at the top, your presence isn’t just powerful…it’s transformative.
In this episode of The Trailblazer Chronicles, I sit down with Kimberlee Centera a dynamic and trailblazing CEO leading in a male-dominated industry. She’s doing things differently not because she’s trying to prove herself, but because she’s exceptional at what she does.
We dive into what it takes to lead when the rules weren’t made with you in mind…and hos to create new ones along the way. We talk about what it really takes to lead with confidence, shift outdated perceptions, and stay true to yourself when the room doesn’t quite look like you.
Inside this conversation:
💡 The subtle shifts in how women leaders are seen and what still needs to change
💡 How to lead without apology or explanation
💡 Why influence matters more than proving a point
If you’ve ever walked into a room and had to own your space, this episode will resonate deeply.

Bio
Julie Fedele is revolutionizing how women think about career success. As founder of The Portfolio Career Club and author of The Portfolio Careerist newsletter, she's helping thousands of professionals abandon the outdated corporate ladder for portfolio careers that deliver both financial security and personal fulfillment.
After 20 years climbing to the C-suite - only to discover she'd climbed the wrong ladder entirely, Julie pioneered a methodology that combines Human Design with strategic business building. Her approach helps accomplished women escape the "success trap" of prestigious roles that drain their energy, instead building multiple income streams aligned with their natural design.
Since 2019, Julie has mentored hundreds of women through her sold-out programs, proving that the future of work isn't about choosing between money and meaning. Her clients regularly double their corporate salaries while working fewer hours, creating the flexibility and freedom that traditional careers promise but rarely deliver.
Julie's work challenges the fundamental assumption that career success requires sacrifice, showing instead that sustainable prosperity comes from working with - not against- your innate strengths.

Samuels has gone on to complete doctoral studies from Walden University, and along the way has picked up business and industry certifications in project management and in change management, with the latter focusing on the “people side of change”. Despite his lengthy career thus far in higher education, Samuels has other unique work experiences, which include owning and operating two different, and successful businesses; nine years working in the mental health arena as a clinical diagnostician; three years as a Chief Operations Officer for a moderate size health care practice; three years as a General Manager/General Sales Manager of a DFW metropolitan radio station; and to this day, Samuels enjoys “moonlighting” as a radio broadcaster of high school and college games, of any
sport you can imagine. Samuels, the father of four wonderful young adults, has a passion for life…a passion for work…a passion for meeting the needs of business/industry…and a passion for spending any time he can with his wife and family. In closing, Samuels is always striving to become the best leader of people he can possibly be, and lives by the words of John Quincy Adams, & If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.

Jill Nastasia's Bio:
If you’ve talked to Jill, you know she’s all about relationships. Throughout her career she’s had the pleasure of working with professionals and entrepreneurs across the country to grow their businesses to reach their goals AND – in turn – create jobs within their communities. As a small business owner herself, she loves to create jobs for others and help her employees grow and reach their full potential.
As a teen in Bridgeport, CT, Jill aged out of foster care, and while she had the street smarts and skills necessary to survive, she found herself and women like her struggling to thrive due to a lack of Life 101. Over time, she realized that it was the other women in her community who helped her survive and learn how to navigate adulthood, and over the years she noticed it was not just women fresh out of the foster system who needed this service. Women+ of all ages were hitting walls, wondering what their next chapter would be.
In 2019, Jill founded FearLess Dallas, a nonprofit that provides women valuable life skills to help them acquire a sustainable career, establish a healthy living environment, and teach self-care practices. This is accomplished through the creation of a member network that fosters life-long learning through full-circle mentorship and a sense of community. As of today, FearLess has been able to touch 500+ women and help them acquire the tools necessary to live their best lives.--
Impact Begins With Discovering Your Origin Story
Stories are for sharing whether they are a fairy tale or a learning experience. Stories are powerful and we wait to see what happens when we turn the page or get to the next volume in the series or see how we are doing in our own journey to success.
Stories are all around us. Everyone has a story and every situation is a story. We always hear that our stories can be a great book but in truth a story doesn’t have to become a best-seller. Sometimes simply telling the story creates a movement or encourages people to do something or it can be a way for us to be able to just move forward.
There are 2 ways to share knowledge…you can push information out or you can pull them in with your story.
The Battle Between Work, Life, and Balance
The battle between work, life, and balance is a discussion everyone talks about and is where people struggle to keep their personal and professional balls in the air. Does everything have the same value and importance? When you focus on what truly matters and prioritize those areas of life that contribute to your overall happiness and well-being, you are on your way to living an optimized life. How do we do that? That's where expert Scott Heinila comes in.
New boost
The saying is 'you only get one chance to make a first impression'. Whether you are going on an interview, meeting someone for the first time, attending an event, appearing on a virtual platform or anything in between, what's the impression you are making? How are you going to show up?
You don't have to spend thousands of dollars to wear a designer label. It's about YOU. What is your personal brand? How do you want to be seen? Does it include a smile, being present and yes being on time? How do you want someone to describe the person in front of them? And...do they want to see you again?
Appearance does matter!
Enter Elisa Ellis, a wardrobe stylist who works with successful business professionals and entrepreneurs. Her approach to personal styling is more than a wardrobe haul, it’s a total transformation that helps you discover a version of yourself that you’ve never met before.
As we start a new year, what are some of the things you still have on your list to complete? Have you held back on launching a product, or unveiling that special system or sharing a new process? Why? If you don't do anything differently, how different will this year be for you and your business?
Today on Selling In A Skirt with Judy Hoberman, her guest Christopher Plumlee is here to talk about this and more. He is the Co-Founder and President of ELEVATE Strategy Group.
Don't wait until it's perfect. While you're waiting to reach perfection, someone is missing out on you and your brilliance. It's about progress and taking imperfect action. And so what if it isn't exactly perfect? What's the worst that can happen...and add on, what's the BEST that can happen?
So, Judy's question is: What do YOU still want to accomplish?
People do not just follow anyone. As a leader, you must give them a good reason to follow you. Many times, people are placed into leadership roles and expect their teams will follow them simply because they have the title. It does not work that way—at least not with deep, lasting success. Be the leaders others CHOOSE to follow.
