Truth Snack helps doubting Christians become adventurous truth-seekers so they can have confident faith. This podcast features conversations about faith, doubt, deconstruction, and spiritual pilgrimage.
After Shawn saw some shorts where I talked about "Four Kinds of Doubt," he wondered if doubt was getting a little too complicated. "Isn't doubt just doubt?" I love that he had me on his podcast to talk about kinds of doubt, how to identify them, and how to work through them. What a great conversation!
While on, I also unveiled a big announcement for this ministry! Listen in to find out what's coming up.

In this episode I talk with Austin Noll, author "A Jumble of Crumple Papers" and host of "The Crumpled Papers" podcast. I found myself relating to so much of what Austin said in his book that I wanted to talk with him about it. Our conversation brought so much clarity to exactly why legalism, elitism, and church abuse cause serious doubts. Enjoy!

In this episode I talk with Dr. Jana Harmon, author of Atheists Finding God. For her book (and PhD) she interviewed 50 former atheists because she wanted to know, what would it take for an atheist to believe in Christianity? I thought that topic might be of interest to those who are wondering about themselves, what would it take for me to believe?
Dr. Harmon has spent countless hours considering what motivates people to make life-altering changes to their worldview, so stick around until the end to hear Dr. Harmon's heartfelt advice to those who are wrestling with doubt. Enjoy the conversation!

Recently I came across an article that laid out a 5-stage model of religious deconversion. I was surprised by how much I resonated with it! Why did I not lose my faith? I wanted to know more so today I'm talking to the author, Joel Furches.
I think Joel's research will help you make sense of the journey you're on and offer some hope for how you might journey toward faith again.

We're kicking off Season 2 by talking Natalie, someone I met this summer. We were working at a summer camp and she told me she was raised in a church that taught jewellery, make-up, and sports were all wrong. Our activities at camp that day happened to be... making bracelets, face-painting, and football!
I couldn't help but wonder how Natalie was able to question so much of what she was raised to believe while holding onto faith in Jesus. She calls her process "disentangling," and her minister, Berean Holiness, helps others do the same. Enjoy the conversation!

In this episode we explore bad theology that gets taught in churches and can actually cause serious doubts.
Have we encountered these teachings? Have they created a "doubt recipe" in us? And most humbling of all: have we ever been the ones teaching it to others? I invite you to listen in, join the adventurous truth seeking, and don’t hesitate to share you thoughts with me at matt@truthsnack.ca.

Big life decisions can spark and intense seeking of God and his will. And when we hear nothing in response, it can make us wonder if God is with us (or there at all). Because of that, I knew I wanted to talk about "God's will" as part of this year's exploring of encounter with God.
When my friend, Steph, reached out to tell me a Truth Snack series had helped her while discerning God's will, I knew it was time to talk about it.

If I had 30 minutes to tell doubting Christians what to expect on their journey through doubt, I would tell them this! And then I would tell them they don't have to make that journey alone.
I wish every doubter knew this Bible story. It's total honesty, paired with hope, has helped me so much on my journey through doubt, and I believe it will help you too.

How do we make sense of divine destruction in the Bible? What distortions do we bring to the Bible that make it hard to understand? If the Bible is so complicated, why follow Jesus?
In this episode I talk with my friend Jonny who is studying the Old Testament in pursuit of a PhD. In particular, he’s studying stories of divine destruction in the Old Testament— that’s right, he’s chosen to study the uncomfortable stories that can make us question God's goodness.
Jonny's perspective was insightful and challenging. I have no doubt this chat some wisdom to offer you on your journey through doubt. Enjoy!

In this chat I talk with Joey, who told several stories of God speaking to him over decades. It kinda clicked from hearing Joey’s stories that we all have an ongoing, personal conversation with God–and it matters when it comes to discerning his voice! I think you’ll see what I mean. On top of the encouraging stories, Joey shared a lot of good wisdom on how we can all learn to recognize God when he speaks. Enjoy.

Kerry shares some brilliant theological insights and on top of that, offers a really accessible way to think about hearing God “in the normal of every day.”
One thing I love about Kerry is that we’re such different personality types. She often has a perspective I need to really chew on. But once I get it, it almost changes how live out my faith. This conversation is no different. So, in invite you to slow down, listen in on our chat, and enjoy.
