Welcome back to another episode of Build An Iconic Life Podcast! I have the privilege of welcoming back my first guest of the season, Dr. Matt Chalmers. This is the first show of a special two-part series.
Matt is a Doctor of Chiropractic medicine based in Dallas, TX. In addition he is a Certified Clinical Chiropractic Neurologist and a Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner. Matt is not just a health and wellness expert, but an author and speaker who specializes in the areas of long-term wellness, nutrition, women’s health, weight loss, athlete wellness and holistic healing.
I knew it was time for Matt to come back on the show when he reached out to spark a conversation about relationships and communication. In this episode, we talk about living in gratitude, changing perspectives, and the importance of practicing (over time) how to give AND receive communication from your significant other.
We dive into the intricacies of how men decompress mentally & emotionally, and how our basic primal need for problem solving can often lead to miscommunication. I believe that Matt’s foundational principles about HOW to listen effectively are key in developing healthy patterns, and are a testament to forming ICONIC relationships at home.

Dustin is a successful Personal Nutrition and Fitness Trainer, Owner of Burn the Boats Apparel, transformational Speaker, #1 Best-Selling Author, and PROUD husband to his wife Tonya. His book, “Strength Through Struggle: A Story About Hope,” is the written testimony to his belief that even after reaching ultimate rock bottom, anyone can rise up stronger than before and pursue a life of purpose and impact.
I will share my deeply personal conversation with Dustin, in which we discussed his journey through the hardships of being a railroad worker, addiction and recovery, and making the ultimate decision to go “all in” on his own life and marriage. Dustin and his wife Tonya even went as far as to CHOOSE to live in a 100 square foot renovated bus and travel the country in hopes of impacting the lives of others while they focused on strengthening their connection to God and each other.
Dustin has navigated quite literally fleeing the wave of the pandemic across state borders while he learned how to live minimally but much more wholly. While leaning on his expertise in the fitness industry, he has also focused hard on his mission to bring faith and strength to everyone he talks to.
