In this episode I'll share an aromatherapy recipe for eczema that is simple but very effective.
The essential oils
To make up a cream for eczema
You’ll need a teaspoon and a half of a cream of your choice, preferably one that has no aroma. And to that, you would add two drops each of Bergamot, Lavender and Chamomile. Mix the ingredients together well.
If you're making a blend for a child, you would add one drop each of Bergamot, Lavender and Chamomile.
In my Lotions and Potions course, I teach you how to make a couple of different types of absolutely beautiful creams that will be perfect for this. But for now, you could just use whatever cream is available, as long as it’s good quality of course.
Contraindications to the oils
Bergamot should not be used on skin that will be exposed to bright sunlight or a sunbed within 48 hours, it can cause severe burns.
Lavender and Chamomile should not be used by pregnant women. There is an outside chance that they could bring on a period. Although (as far as I'm aware) there are no known cases of essential oils ever having caused harm to a mother or a baby, it’s always best to err on the side of caution.

In this episode I'll share:-
👉 Lifestyle tips to help sleep (essential oils are unlikely to help much if you drink lots of coffee before bed)
👉 A morning recipe to uplift and refresh,
👉 An evening recipe to help sleep,
👉 Three very effective ways of using each recipe.
In this episode you'll learn
Lavender essential oil (I call this the “Leonardo da Vinci” of essential oils because it's just freaking amazing at practically everything)
On an emotional level, Lavender balances the mood and emotions.
Bergamot essential oil (I called this the “Little Oil of Stress” because it's uplifting and calming at the same time)
Ylang Ylang essential oil (I call this the “Emotional Crutch” because it's fabulous for stress and anxiety particularly long-term stress and anxiety)
Ylang Ylang has three amazing powers. It balances adrenaline in the body, it controls heart rate, and it controls breathing rate. So Ylang Ylang acts on emotions in a very physical way.
How to use the Cranky Day Blend in a bath
1 drop of Lavender essential oil,
1 drop of Bergamot essential oil,
1 drop of Ylang Ylang essential oil.
A teaspoon and a half (7.5 ml) of milk or a vegetable oil such as Grapeseed or Olive Oil.
Mix the ingredients and add to a capful or two to the bath and relax for at least 15 to 20 minutes
Aromatherapy inhalers
Aromatherapy inhalers are super powerful for stress and anxiety because the olfactory nerves at the top of the nose are directly connected to the limbic area of the brain which controls mood, emotion and memory.
They're super handy, you can carry them in your bag or pocket when you're out and about.
Aromatherapy inhalers often look like Vick's inhalers, although you can also get beautiful wooden or aluminium inhalers which you can reuse.
Inside the inhaler is a cotton pad. You put the undiluted essential oils on the cotton pad, put the pad in the inhaler and close the lid.
How to use the Cranky Day Blend in an aromatherapy inhaler.
4 drops of Lavender essential oil,
3 drops of Bergamot essential oil,
3 drops of Ylang Ylang essential oil.
Add the essential oils to the cotton pad of the inhaler, place it inside the inhaler and close the lid. Open the inhaler and waft it under your nose, inhaling slowly and deeply, whenever you feel stressed or anxious.
Despite the Vick's like shape, aromatherapy inhalers are not meant to be inserted into the nostrils.
How to use the Cranky Day Blend in a burner or diffuser.
Add 1 drop each of Lavender, Bergamot, and Ylang Ylang essential oil to the water in the "well" of the burner .
Don't be tempted to use more than 3 or 4 drops of essential oil, it won't enhance the benefit. You will probably find that you stop smelling the oils after a while, just like when you're cooking, and you don't smell the food after a while but someone who comes into the room will be able to smell it.
Contraindications
Don't use Lavender for pregnant women
Don't use Bergamot on skin that will be exposed to bright sunlight or a sunbed within 48 hours (but using it in a burner is fine)
How to store your aromatherapy productsKeep all your products away from light and heat but not in a fridge (a drawer or press is fine)
The bath oil should be stored in a dark glass container with a closed lid.
If you use milk for the bath recipe, you should only make enough for one bath.
Here's the link for the Aromatherapy Quick start GuideI mentioned in the episode
Essential Oils for Sinusitis
The essential oils I use are Eucalyptus, which I call the Desert Island Oil. Eucalyptus is pain killing, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiviral. It has other properties too, but I'm just sharing the ones that are specifically relating to sinusitis.
Lavender, I call the Leonardo da Vinci of essential oils, it is outstanding for most physical and emotional ailments and for the skin. Lavender is painkilling, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, and it boosts the properties of any other oil it's used with. When you use essential oils together they all boost the properties of the others, but lavender is particularly good at this. You can learn more about Lavender here.
Chamomile, which is known as the Children's Oil, is extremely anti-inflammatory, one of the most anti-inflammatory essential oils. It's also pain killing, and it's anti-allergic which is fantastic for hay fever.
So the blend ticks all the sinusitis/hay fever boxes.
Recipe
Mix the ingredients together and apply as I show you in the massage tutorial in the downloadable PDF.The PDF also includes the recipe covered in this episode, a 5 minute massage tutorial and some information about the causes and effects of essential oils.
Download the PDF here
In this episode I explain just how powerful lavender is for burns, stress, pain, skin conditions and infection.
Lavender can be applied undiluted to burns, in an emergency. It quickly eases pain, speeds healing, and it reduces scaring.
For stress try my Cranky Day Blend in a bath
To use it in a bath, add one a drop each of Lavender, Bergamot and Ylang Ylang essential oils to a teaspoon and a half of milk, add it to your bath, and just soak for at least 20 minutes, if possible. Milk is as really good carrier to use, as you don't need to scrub the bath afterwards, as you would if you used a vegetable oil.
For toothache add one drop of Lavender and one drop of Eucalyptus to a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil and apply to the outside of the cheek.
Lavender is great for all skin types, and I've used it very successfully for acne, eczema and dermatitis.

There are some great ways that aromatherapists can create extra income streams.
I recorded a masterclass about it, you can watch it here.
Aromatherapy is so versatile. Essential oils can be used in massage, in aromatherapy products and to enhance your other holistic therapies.
It's also very versatile in terms of the income options for aromatherapists.
If you'd like to know how to attract more clients to your business, check out this blog and podcast episode. I've included a lot of practical low-cost ways to help you to build up your business.
You may have heard of some of the extra income stream ideas I'll share in my masterclass. Teaching and selling products, for instance, are popular ways.
Maybe you'd like more information about how to start teaching, what qualifications you need etc. Or whether you can sell aromatherapy products in markets, on Etsy etc. If so you'll get some answers in my recording of my masterclass.
There are other, very "outside the box", fun and lucrative ways to increase your aromatherapy income. One of my students, for instance, has run aromatherapy parties for children where she teaches them how to make their own products like creams and bath bombs, etc, and they absolutely love it.
Myself and/or my students have successfully used all the options I share in my masterclass.
What I love about the extra income streams is that they let aromatherapists use their skills in different ways to help more people. Lots of aromatherapists offer one to one treatments, and they teach classes, so their students can benefit from using essential oils at home.
Another big advantage to some of the extra income streams I'll be sharing in my masterclass is that they offer you a regular income alongside your one to one treatments.
Here's what you'll learn in the recording of the masterclass:-
Enjoy the masterclass recording,
Jenny x
Here are the most effective ways I've found to build a profitable business.

In this episode we'll look at
👉 What aroma therapy is (and what it is not).
👉 What aroma therapists do, (you might be surprised at the variety of work and income options)
👉 What knowledge and skills aromatherapists need to be successful.
Aromatherapy involves using essential oils to keep people healthy, to help ease pain and to help prevent lots of common conditions. It's incredibly powerful and effective and yet it's so simple when you know what you're doing.
What aroma therapy is not. Aroma therapy is not using ready-made our pre blended aromatherapy oils. The therapist chooses the blend of oils based on the client's individual needs at that time. With the skills and knowledge you need, Aromatherapy also is not something you can learn in a weekend course.
What aromatherapists do. There are so many ways an aromatherapist can earn:-
👉 Aromatherapy massage,
👉 Aroma therapy facial,
👉 Upgrading existing treatments such as reflexology, sports massage and Reiki,
👉 Creating reward or referral schemes to increase rebookings and referrals.
Extra income stream options include:-
👉 Product making,
👉 Teaching - Online or in person, privately or publicly.
👉 On-site work, in nursing homes, offices, etc
👉 Pamper parties,
👉 Children's product making parties.
I'll going to be running a Masterclass in April about multiple earning options for aromatherapists. And if you're interested you can register here.
What knowledge and skills aromatherapists need to be successful.
👉 An indept knowledge of essential oils so that you can confidently and quickly create blends that suit your clients' needs,
👉 An understanding of aroma psychology i.e. how aroma affects us in very personal ways,
👉 Practical chemistry - understanding how essential oils work make your blends much more powerful,
👉 Extra aromatherapy treatments like an aromatherapy facial or pregnancy aromatherapy,
👉 An understanding of business and marketing, so that you can spread the work and grow your business.
All of these and more are included in my Aromatherapy Wellness Professional Course, which is designed to be completed within 6 months (although there are options for completing it in a longer or shorter time)
If you'd like to learn more about aromatherapy and how you can use it to upgrade your treatments and help your clients, why don't you go ahead and download my sinusitis treatment class?
It includes:-
👉 A video tutorial of a 5 minute sinus massage,
👉 A fabulous aromatherapy recipe for sinusitis and hay fever,
👉 Tips for non aromatherapists who want to safely and effectively (and legally!) use the recipe in their therapy room,
👉 Information about sinusitis and hay fever including the causes, effects and symptoms.
You can download the PDF here, I hope you enjoy it and find it useful.

I call Bergamot is the "Little Oil of Stress" because it's calming and uplifting at the same time.
It's a beautiful oil and wonderful for stress, irritability, pain, respiratory infections, insomnia. It's a good anti-viral oil, and it helps oily skin and acne.
Cranky Day Blend
Inhaler recipe
4 drops of bergamot,
3 drops of Lavender.
3 drops of Ylang Ylang.
Massage/Bath Oil
20 ml vegetable such as Sweet Almond oil or Extra Virgin Olive Oil,
3 drops of Bergamot, (2 drops for children or anyone with sensitive skin)
3 drops of Lavender, (1 drop for children or anyone with sensitive skin)
2 drops of Ylang Ylang. (1 drop for children or anyone with sensitive skin)
Don't use Bergamot on skin. That's going to be exposed to bright sunlight or a sunbed within 48 hours, don't use Lavender for anyone who's pregnant. Ylang Ylang can be quite heady if you use it on its own, and it can be very extractive when used on the skin.
