An awning room, do you have one? or do you known what an awning room is? Well are family received the Roam Adventure Co. awning room for Christmas, we couldn’t wait till summer to use it. Can you guess where our first adventure took place with the awning room? I also share my current ongoing project, Portable fire pit. This little guy will come in handy when there are fire bands in place. Unless of course the fire ban wont allow controlled fire pits (pending the severity of the ban)

It’s been a minute, lets kick back and catch up with whats been going on around shank outdoors.

Its been a great change to have gone ice fishing multiple times this year. Teaching our youngest how to catch a trout to hitting our limit with in a short couple hours. I forgot how good fresh pan fried trout is, it’s been many years since we took home trout and made a delicious meal.

Have you heard of a diesel heater? Are you thinking of getting one? In this weeks episode I tell you why we were in diesel heater hell.. yes… I said it. Diesel Heater Hell. This diesel heater is a DIY project to use while overlanding and ice fishing. The reason its a diy project, is that with this heater you need to either have a safe place to install it or a safe way to make it portable. Which in our case we want to make it portable, so I am making a portable diesel heater case.

I built this Square Drop Overland Trailer in 2021. Being a family man I needed to build on a budget, I wanted to build something small that would get my family and I out further in the backcountry. After a while a finally decided to build an offroad camper trailer. I started out by finding 2000lb Torsion axles on sale, now remember I had to build this on a budget. So most of the items I purchased was found on sale or at a lower cost then other items I could have purchased. I then decided I would purchase a small utility trailer to build the camper body onto. This made registering the squaredrop trailer that much easier.

The trailer took me less the 3 months to build. I did however purchase the Torsion Axles 6 months in advance. Do to the cost savings I did not want to chance not getting that price ever again.

Our squaredrop trailer sleeps two adults comfortably. There are 5 storage locations inside the sleeping area which also has a 12v Charging station. Allowing us to charge our phones, cameras and other accessories. The rear of the trailer has a full outdoor kitchen. This provides food storage above the main countertop and storage underneath. The camper trailer sits on 28” all terrain tires which provides 15” Ground clearance under the torsion axles. The frame measures 17” above the ground providing optimal clearance down the trail. I protected the campers exterior with Raptor Liner. Raptor Liner provides great protection from the outdoor elements.

Welcome back to Shank Outdoors, hope you guys are doing well.

I was out tire shopping... now I'm not a brand loyalty. I just have ran a certain tire for a very long time, and when something works why change it?

I don't know if you guys have been out tire shopping lately or usually switch off your tires. But I came into a surprise today on when I went to go, Like I'll be honest I was tire shopping looking at a different tire than what I have on the truck right now. I do need to get new new tread but I thought maybe let's see what else is out there.

Hey everyone, on this weeks episode Im going to talk about Patches, and why do we collect these decorative items?

Patch Collecting: - Badges have been collected since ancient times. Greek and Roman pilgrims to pagan shrines made collections of miniature images of gods and goddesses or their emblems, and Christian pilgrims later did the same. - After the Second World War, American GIs occupying Germany sent badges back to their loved ones, showing where they were stationed. These badges became known as sweetheart patches.

Do you collect patches? I would love to hear how many do you have collected? I wonder who has the most..

AOAE, Cant say enough about this event! If you went, then you know what I am saying.

Our family had multiple different ages (5,15) (31,32) and (54,55) for all of us to have a good time says a lot. We really enjoyed the long weekend camping, while enjoying the vendors / activities and learning such valuable information during each event.

We are excited to join next years expo, Im positive it will be even better.

Hey everyone welcome back Shank Outdoors. Thank you for tuning in to this episode, greatly appreciated. Today I want to talk to you about getting skunked while fishing. Fishing northern Alberta or I guess it would be central Northern Alberta. I'm not a pro fishermen at all but can at least catch one or two, or you know have a weekend trip that might have one day that you just don't get anything, but at least get bites and the next day if you go again, catch a few, but being down in Southern Alberta I am not having that type of luck.
