When Acts was written, Athens was the intellectual capital of the world. The place where athletes were born. A central hub for Greek culture and influence. But what Paul finds there idols, superstition, tons of different views and beliefs about anything and everything. This is where we see Paul give his famous speech on the "Unknown God", using information that the people of Athens already knew to pursued them to learn something new, being who the One True God is; Jesus.

Before we had the law and documented rules for our lives, there was a lot of things going on in Israel that God needed to address, so through this beautiful picture of salvation and rescue we have Moses and his first-hand encounter with the God of the universe. Follow along with us in Exodus 20 as we start our dive into the 10 Commandments.
Pastor Nate kicked off a new series digging into the 10 commandments and the connection to Jesus. We started off with the 1st commandment of having no other gods before Yahweh. To grasp the first commandment, we must understand there is no other god than the triune God. There is no competition. So, why do we try to put things in the place where God will always be?

When we think about what happens to us after death, we hope that being a good person and believing in God gets us there. To many this makes sense. However, when Jesus tells us He is the Gate, it challenges the very notion of being good and believing in many ways to God will get you to heaven. Rest. It's amazing how this isn't a priority in so many lives. It shows how much God continues to know us better than we know ourselves. As John Stevens shares, God shows us that we are to rest him not just one day a week, but ongoing. Rest comes out of a relationship with Jesus and Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath. His yoke is light for us to take on.
