Take part in the Screen Test and be a part of the most far-ranging and important viewer survey ever undertaken in the UK. The Screen Test is a project being led by a team of researchers at the Universities of Sussex and Brighton, in partnership with Radio Times, to explore the role of television and audio in our lives.
With such a varied range of options as to how we watch, listen and stream media, we want to understand more about how people today are engaging with television and audio in all its different forms, what their experience is like, the reasons for the choices they make, their perceptions of the benefits and other consequences of consuming the content they choose. Equally, we want to know how a viewer’s or listener’s personality, values and background impact on their experience.
The survey takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and you are free to withdraw from the study at any time. The results will be announced in September as part of Radio Times’ centenary celebrations at the BFI Southbank. Visit thescreentest.org to find out more. The survey closes on the 30th of June 2023. Radio Times critic David Butcher picks his TV highlights for the week ahead. They don’t include the Platinum Jubilee (too many programmes, not enough time…) but they are all royally worth watching. There’s a comedy involving large snakes, a sort-of-sequel to The Wire, a memorable episode of Top Gear, and documentaries about football and orchestras that have more in common than you’d expect. He also suggests good films on free-to-air TV and, as always, one show to avoid. All parcelled and previewed in less time than it takes to troop a colour.

The brand-new Radio Times Podcast is here! Hosted by Jane Garvey, this is the place for trusted TV recommendations each week. In the first episode Jane speaks to two of the most sought-after names in TV and film right now, Jodie Comer and Stephen Graham, about the new Channel 4 drama 'Help!'
TV critic Rhianna Dhillon helps Jane pick apart the week's TV. The shows being talked about this week are ‘The Cleaner’ starring Greg Davies, Jamie Oliver’s new cooking show ‘Together’ and the highly anticipated BBC drama ‘The North Water’, starring Colin Farrell and the very busy Stephen Graham.
If you love a bit of nostalgia, we end each show with ‘What We Watched’. This is where we pick a year and chat about iconic TV shows and the moments that we all remember.
