Every day we are exposed to free radicals in our environment
that can affect the way our bodies manage the effects on aging
as well as other diseases like diabetes or heart disease. Being
around cigarette smoke, toxic cleaners, and pollution exposes
our bodies to increased free radicals. Your food choices, exercise,
and hobbies can either cause or decrease oxidative stress
(free radicals). Our jobs, as wise stewards of our bodies, are to
avoid free radicals when we can and make up for free radical
damage with diet, supplements, and lifestyle. This is important
because it impacts how we balance free radicals and antioxidants
internally. Supplementation with antioxidants like glutathione can
provide benefits,according to a 2022 study.

Candida albicans is one of the many types of fungi that
live and grow inside most human bodies. Normally, Candida
causes no harm; our bodies are equipped with probiotic
(or “friendly”) bacteria and immune cells that keep it under
control. However, some medications, high-sugar diets, allergies,
and other factors can all cause the friendly bacteria to die,
leaving Candida free to grow unchecked in parts or all of the

We often hear about Blood Sugar, but often people are left wondering
what really is blood sugar???

Blood sugar, also known as blood glucose, comes from the food you eat.
Your body creates blood sugar by digesting some food into a sugar that
circulates in your bloodstream. Blood sugar is used for energy. The sugar
that is not needed to fuel your body right away gets stored in cells for later
use. Too much sugar in your blood can be harmful.

A study at Ohio State University, investigated the relationship between
anger and blood sugar in 107 couples. The researchers found that people
were angrier at their spouse when their blood sugar levels were lower.

Your best line of defense is “offense” – by simply hydrating your nose morning and night to flush away toxins and other airborne contaminants helps lessen your chances of getting sick by KEEPING YOUR NASAL PASSAGES CLEAN and HYDRATED.

Germs enter and spread through the body from a few places, the most common of which are the nose and mouth. Though we need to pay attention to cleaning our noses (most definitely!), making sure your mouth is clean is especially important for your health, and the health of others. If you don’t attend to your oral hygiene, the bacteria and viruses that enter your mouth can spread to other parts of your body quite easily.

We really are what we eat—but more important, we are the foods we absorb.

A root cause of many chronic problems often turns out to be poor digestion and inadequate absorption of nutrients.

The National Institutes of Health estimates that up to 70 million Americans are affected by digestive diseases. Common digestive conditions include gastroesophageal reflux disease, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, gallbladder and liver disease, small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), intestinal permeability (leaky gut syndrome), chronic constipation, and food allergies/sensitivities.

One of the most common concerns we hear from people over the age of 50 is declining memory. The term often used by doctors to describe this condition is age-associated memory impairment or mild cognitive impairment.

It can be very frustrating for those who have memory problems. It causes embarrassment when you lose things often, forget appointments or important events, or struggle to come up with the words you want to use in conversations.

There are several reasons why people develop memory and focus problems. While doctors often blame aging, we all know people who are very mentally sharp in their later years. Instead of blaming memory issues on aging, we think people are better served by addressing root causes that affect cognitive function.

People make more and more DHEA from birth through puberty into adulthood until about age 25, when we are “in our reproductive prime” as humans. DHEA levels begin to decline at a rate of 2% per year thereafter. So, by age 35 we are all making about 20% less than when we were at our best (or in our prime) and by age 50 we produce just half as much as we did at age 25…and that gradual decline continues to whereby age 70 or 80 we are only producing 10% or less of the DHEA we once did.

Men and women start to notice these little subtle changes or “challenges” as you say, after about age 35…like they…start to not sleep as well at night, toss, and turn wake up several times during the night. People lose energy…just feel kind of washed out…blah…no zest…low vitality.

Folks start to lose physical fitness and muscle tone and start to add fat easier. You know that extra fat pad around the middle that gets easier and easier to add on….and harder and harder to make go away. Lots of people notice what they describe as a loss of focus and mental sharpness, lose interest in sex, another common thing is for people to be more susceptible to infections and sickness.

You probably give your liver little thought, but your liver is a multitasking miracle, filtering toxins, working with your immune system to fight off infection and storing and releasing nutrients from food so that your body can access and use them to function.

The second-largest organ in your body, your liver has some 500 critical jobs. “Your liver removes all toxins, clears medication from your body and breaks down all your food,”.

It also adjusts cholesterol levels, builds proteins, and makes bile, which helps you absorb fats, stores sugar for when you really need it and regulates hormone levels. For your liver, that’s all in a day’s work.

If you don’t protect and nurture your liver, it can become overtaxed and have a negative impact on the body. Liver disease is on the rise—30 million Americans suffer from some sort of liver disease mainly because liver disease is silent.

The American diet does not supply adequate minerals for proper human health. Seaweeds contain high concentrations and many minerals, including potassium, calcium iodine, magnesium, iron, zinc, phosphorus, and others. The international journal Food Science and Human Wellness documents the known health benefits of seaweed supplements. The authors note several studies demonstrate that seaweed supplementation alongside a regular diet has health benefits. Some of the documentation in this journal includes:

CAN SUPPLEMENTING DHEA MAKE ME YOUNGER?

No. But taking DHEA may help reduce some of the negative effects of aging and reduce the risks  of many diseases of aging. Maintaining good health is much better than trying to regain good health once it is lost.

Humans produce more and more DHEA from birth through puberty into adulthood. DHEA production peaks around age 25, when we are in our reproductive prime. Then after age 25, our natural DHEA levels decrease at a rate of about 2% per year. By age 35, our bodies produce 20% less DHEA than  when we were 25; and by age 50, our bodies produce only about half as much DHEA as when we were in our prime.

The most common nutritional deficiency in America, and increasingly worldwide, is the malnourished microbiome. If the microbiome is not well nourished, pathogens are allowed to grow. We all harbor some pathogens, but they are not harmful when they only exist in small numbers. When pathogens proliferate, they can cause a wide range of symptoms such as gas, bloating, inflammation, pain, diarrhea, and/or constipation. Collectively, these symptoms are referred to as dysbiosis, which is also known as intestinal permeability.

It’s now well established that chronic stress leads to an out-pouring of cortisol and with that, a gradual depletion of DHEA. DHEA is a pro-hormone – a natural building block for hormones our bodies make.

Over time, this hormonal imbalance can lead to brain fog, thinning bones, weight gain, low sex drive and poor Immune function.

On this Episode we talk all things Thyroid.

Medical research tells us that about 85% of adult cases of hypothyroidism are caused by an autoimmune disease, where the immune system attacks thyroid cells and causes inflammation and destruction of thyroid tissue. As a result, the thyroid gland may not be able to produce enough thyroid.

24 million people in the United States have an autoimmune disease. There are approximately 80 known autoimmune diseases, with autoimmune thyroiditis (meaning the immune system acts against its own tissue and causes inflammation) being one of the most common.  It is the most common cause of hypothyroidism in the United States in people older than 6 years of age. Autoimmune thyroiditis is known to affect up to 15% of the world’s population. Also, this condition is up to 10 times more common in women and tends to run in families (genetic susceptibility). In addition, there is a mildly increased risk of thyroid cancer for those with this autoimmune disease.

You’re exhausted and you really need a good night’s rest…but what
if you always feel that way and sleep doesn’t help? A common and
often misunderstood cause of constant fatigue is a condition called
Adrenal Fatigue.

Most people need adrenal support, as our adrenals are constantly
challenged through many factors, primarily stress, poor diet, caffeine
consumption and lack of exercise.  The adrenal glands are responsible
for regulating stress response in the body by producing the hormones
associated with metabolism, balance, energy levels, memory, circulation,
blood pressure, sex drive, and immunity.

For many decades holistic and integrative doctors have acknowledged that
their clinical experience correlates with the published scientific research on
the problem of intestinal  permeability, also known as “leaky gut” or
“‘leaky gut syndrome". These terms refer to an unhealthy or damaged small
intestine lining where molecules that are usually excluded from being absorbed
can enter the intestinal wall and potentially into the bloodstream.

When the small intestine lining becomes damaged or diseased, increased
permeability can allow the passage of proteins, toxins, and bacteria into the
intestinal tissue and blood and lymphatic circulation. This can lead to a local
intestinal and systemic immune and inflammatory response.

Candida albicans is one of the many types of fungi that live and grow inside most

Sometimes the fungus spreads throughout the entire body in a condition known

supplements for 2022. There are good scientific reasons why
much of the public and holistic doctors will focus on quercetin.
While quercetin has been around for some time, the use of new
technology to deliver superior absorption and therapeutic effects
is relatively new.

Quercetin belongs to a family of plant pigments known as flavonoids.

Candida albicans is one of the many types of fungi that live and grow
inside most human bodies. Normally, Candida causes no harm; our
bodies are equipped with probiotic (or “friendly”) bacteria and immune
cells that keep it under control. However, some medications, high-sugar
diets, allergies, and other factors can all cause the friendly bacteria to die,
leaving Candida free to grow unchecked in parts or all of the body.
