Hey friends, this is Timothy Kimo, Brian, head instigator for "Create Art Podcast" and your guide to the podverse for "Find a Podcast About." I recently attended the Empowered Podcast Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, and I wanted to share some key takeaways and insights from this enlightening experience with you all.
The Journey to the Empowered Podcast Conference
Attending the Empowered Podcast Conference was an exciting endeavor. I usually attend the Indy Pod Conference in New Jersey and have been to DC PodFest in the past, so this was a new experience for me. Thanks to a 20% discount code shared by Alex Sanfilippo from PodMatch, I decided to make the five and a half hour drive to North Carolina. The drive was pleasant, filled with beautiful weather and a slew of podcasts to keep me company.
First Impressions and Connecting with Fellow Podcasters
Upon arriving at the Hyatt in Charlotte, I checked in and immediately gravitated towards the communal table on the second floor, where conversations about podcasting were already underway. Meeting the conference founder and various podcasters felt like reconnecting with old friends. Being around people who share my passion for podcasting was a rejuvenating experience, despite my family sometimes growing weary of me mentioning the word "podcast" countless times.
Setting Intentions: A Unique Approach
The conference kicked off with a unique session on setting intentions, involving a guided visualization exercise to help us focus on our goals and what we wanted to achieve from the conference. We were provided with journals to jot down our thoughts on what we wanted to embrace and let go of, which was a first for me at any conference. This session helped frame my mind positively for the rest of the event.
Networking and Learning
An exciting part of the conference was the opportunity to meet Alex Sanfilippo from PodMatch, who gave an insightful talk. One of the highlights for me was how the entire event was woven around the theme of intention and authenticity, especially relevant as my goal is to foster community growth within the podcasting sphere.
Defining Intention
To define what intention means, intention is a plan or goal aimed at achieving a specific purpose. For me, intention signifies clarity and purpose, especially in the context of my podcasts. My key takeaway was the need to be clear about our intentions and how we can be of service to our audience and guests.
Refocusing and Building Community
During the conference, I reflected on my purpose for both "Create Art Podcast" and "Find a Podcast About." My goal with "Create Art Podcast" is to demystify the artistic process and encourage people to engage with art meaningfully. For "Find a Podcast About," my aim is to help listeners find high-quality podcasts efficiently.
Practicing What I Preach
Consistency, genuineness, practicing what I preach, and building community are now my key focuses. This means not only creating art and listening to more podcasts but also connecting with my guests and maintaining those relationships. I want to build a network where people feel connected and supported.
Personal and Professional Growth
On a personal level, I aim to continue improving myself physically, mentally, spiritually, and artistically. Professionally, my dream is to create a podcast network for the federal government, ensuring that accurate information is directly accessible to the public. To achieve this, I plan to join relevant professional organizations and continue learning and networking.
Conclusion
In closing, this conference reinforced the idea that podcasting is not just about broadcasting but also about building genuine connections and communities. I am dedicated to serving my audience and guests better by being consistent and authentic, and by fostering a supportive network. Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I look forward to continuing to grow with you.
Feel free to reach out to me at Timothy@createartpodcast.com for "Create Art Podcast" or Timothy@findapodcastabout.xyz for "Find a Podcast About." Let's connect, share our struggles, and support each other in our artistic and podcasting endeavors. Until next time, remember to create more than you consume and keep discovering binge-worthy podcasts.

I started my podcast journey back in 2006, yeah a long time ago and that makes me one of the OG podcasters, however, I didn’t get serious about it until 2016 when I moved to Fredericksburg Virginia, and started going to a meetup held by Kyle Bondo who runs a few podcasts and a media host company called Once Told. While attending that meetup I wanted to get better at podcasting and make new friends as I am originally from the Chicagoland area. Kyle recommended a few podcasts about podcasting and one that caught my attention was The Audacity to Podcast. I loved the name and listened to a few episodes and was hooked.

Creative Chats with Mike Brennan is a guilty pleasure of mine. I found it while doing some market research for my other podcast Create Art Podcast. I wanted to see what other people in the space were doing and to see how I could take lessons from them and put my spin on what I felt about art. While doing that research I found this podcast and well as they say the rest is history I have been a follower ever since, in fact I have signed up for the weekly newsletter that Mike runs and I just bought the book he put out Making Fun A Habit which I will put in the show notes for you to order for yourself, I know it is going to help out my creativity.

Love and Radio has been a favorite of mine for a number of years. I have been following this podcast since 2017 and have reviewed the back catalog and find each episode to be highly entertaining and voyueristic. Maybe that's why I like it so much or maybe its just great art. Enjoy this review and watch it on my YouTube channel for all things Find A Podcast About.

So, for this episode, I know where I found this podcast, I was listening to Dave Jackson’s Podcast Rodeo, which we have reviewed here, and Dave was reviewing Clear and Vivid with Alan Alda. Dave was not that impressed by the show, but as soon as I heard that Alan Alda was the host, I became hooked. I am in Generation X and I grew up on MASH and I have the whole collection of episodes that was given to me one holiday a few years ago. The buy-in was easy for me because I had been lightly following Alan Alda for some time. Now I would like to give you the gift of listening to the show.

My review of Here's The Thing with Alec Baldwin
This review may be a bit controversial due to the person who is the host of the podcast. I am reviewing Here’s The Thing with Alec Baldwin. He has been in the news lately for the tragic incident on a recent film and his portrayal of former President Trump on Saturday Night Live. This review is about the podcast and nothing else, so if you were thinking that this was going to be an expose on Mr. Baldwin, I am sorry to disappoint, however, I think his podcast is definitely binge-worthy hence why I am reviewing it.

Get Your Literature On
So I have to say I love the Paris Review as a periodical that I read 4 times a year and when I heard they were making a podcast I was an immediate fan. Unfortunately, they have been on hiatus since May of 2022 but they are in production of season 3. That is my only complaint about this podcast. The print version dates back to the 50's so they have a wealth of a catalog to use and their production value is second to now. Help me by pestering them after you listen to a few episodes to have them make more content. I'd appreciate it and I know you would too.

Best Money Spent on Podcasting
I am so happy to be reviewing Podcast Me Anything. This podcast is a great podcast about podcasting. Mathew Passey is the mind behind the mic for this one and he really is a knowledgeable person with a wealth of experience in radio and podcasting. I met him back in 2018 at MAPCON/IndiePodCon and have been following him ever since. Stay tuned at the end for a great interview with Mathew.

Who Helped Me Find A Podcast
I have a story about how I found today's podcast. I was on TikTok, I am 50 get over it, we are Gen X we are everywhere, and I saw this guy with a thick Chicago accent, yes we have accents, and he was talking politics. I listened for a while, followed him, and saw more of his TikTok videos in my feed. Then I heard the magic words “on my podcast”. I looked at his bio and there it was, Thomas Powell Jr has a show called the 2nd Half podcast.

Whoa, how did that happen? Its been a year already? Absolutely fellow traveler I have given you 14 podcasts to ponder during the holidays. This has been a fast and wonderful year and I am looking forward to 2023 and see what that has to offer. Come along with me as we listen to 14 podcasts in Season 2. What will I review, when will you buy a t-shirt, how many podcasters can I interview at one time, these and more questions will be presented and answered (we hope) enjoy your holiday and I will see you in the new year.
Parting Message
One thing I have always loved about podcasts is the intimacy between the host and the audience, you are allowing us into your space and giving your attention. In that same spirit, you can reach out to me to help you find a podcast about something you are interested in because I am doing just one podcast per episode and who knows how long it will take the universe to line up and for me to miraculously find that podcast for you. Feel free to reach out to me via email timothy@findapodcastabout.xyz, leave me a voicemail on my website findapodcastabout.xyz or hit me up through social media I am on IG and Twitter @findapodcast. Now lets say you are a podcast host and want to get your podcast out there, you can reach out to me as well, but that doesn’t mean you will necessarily get on the show and have me recommend your show. I am protective of my reputation just like you should be for your audience. This isn’t a show to spam people about your podcast, this is being of service to my audience, and I will always have that as my guidepost for this show. Finding a podcast takes time and patience and can be rewarding, as well as frustrating. Let me help you find your next bingeworthy podcast. Let’s outsmart the algorithm. I’ll talk with you soon.

Getting to Return A Favor
In this episode, I review The Podcast Rodeo Show hosted by Hall of Fame Award-Winning Dave Jackson. A while back I met Dave at DC Podfest after I had surgery on my neck. I’m very excited to bring you this review today. Not that I am not excited by my other reviews, however, this one is special because I have referred people to this podcast since the first time I heard it. The podcast I am talking about is Akimbo. Akimbo is a podcast by Seth Godin who is a marketing genius and a great teacher/philosopher/visionary.

When I initially thought about making this show, I knew that I needed to spread the joy of Poetic Earthlings to any listeners that I would have as this is one of the shows that was on my slate of shows to do in the first season, even before York actually reached out and asked to be reviewed. Now this show is in a constant state of evolution, and I'm always excited to see where it goes.

How I got acquainted with this podcast is quite a remarkable story. I was attending a book festival here in Fredericksburg, Virginia in about 2016. I got to meet with Chris who was one of the events organizers and we talked about writing and his podcast The Art & Business of Writing. Ever since I have been an avid listener of this podcast.

I am really excited to bring this next podcast to your attention because it tugs at my heart which is creativity. The podcast for this episode that I am looking at is Creative Pep Talk. You can find them at creativepeptalk.com and it is run by Andy J Pizza which is not his real name, but he does explain in some of the episodes why he goes by that moniker. Since I do a show called Create Art Podcast which can be found at createartpodcast.com, some people would think that he is a competitor, but not me. Andy really goes all out for his podcast to bring his listeners ideas on how to help out their creativity and he is speaking to folks who don’t need that nudge to start an art project, rather he is speaking to those like myself who are already making art and need a good pep talk to keep motivated.

I discovered writers drinking coffee at the beginning of the pandemic. Like many people, I was working out in my home, and I needed something to pass the time. Plus, I'm a writer and I do love drinking coffee. So I saw the name of this podcast and instantly, I was hooked.

Thank you for hitting play. I am your host Timothy Kimo Brien and I bring my experience with podcasting since 2006 as a listener and a podcaster. I am here to help you outsmart the algorithm and find your next bingeworthy podcast. Here is how the show works, I comb the millions of podcasts currently available for free on various platforms and then I come back to you with what I have found. Sure you can use the search engines for recommendations from many podcast apps, but I feel that getting a personal recommendation from a real live breathing person is still the best way to find the gems that are out there. In this episode I will be reviewing a podcast that I found based in my hometown Rockford Illinois called Christian AF. The genre of this podcast is in the Religion/Spirituality/Christian area. You can find them at ChristianAFPodcast.com and their email address is christianafpodcast@gmail.com. They are on Facebook and Instagram @ChristianAFPodcast and Twitter @ChristianAFpod. Your hosts for this podcast are Evan Savage, Jen Gorman and Jesse Fox.
When I was looking for the first podcast to review I looked for a podcast based in my hometown and this one caught my eye naturally from the title. So they are doing something right I the naming of their podcast because it grabbed me immediately. A typical episode starts off with one of the hosts letting us know what the topic of the show is going to be about and they do have catchy episode titles like Did Mary Smash and God Behaving Badly.
I really like their honest discussions and they way they go about tackling their topics. Most people say don’t discuss politics or religion, but the hosts here throw that caution to the wind and get down and dirty with their faith and beliefs and really get to the heart of their belief. Is it the perfect show, no, there isn’t a perfect show out there, but these folks really make an effort to put out their ideas in a way other people can understand and relate with.

Host Description: A pastor, a musician, and a photographer walked into a bar…and left with a podcast..."Christian AF was born after a few long conversations over good beers, where we realized that life, and faith, aren't as simple as we grew up believing. We started wondering why asking questions was frowned upon, or why we had to accept what we've always been told as the truth. Maybe some things aren't as black and white as we'd like to think. So, we set out to create a space to have an HONEST dialogue that welcomes questions, doubts, and fears about faith, church culture, and everything in between. The three of us behind the mics are no experts, but our goal is to help listeners start asking questions or maybe even find some answers. Christian AF is a podcast for people that are over church, have been burned by church, don’t get church, or have been told not to question their faith. So as we like to say, kick back, grab a drink, and start questioning!

Welcome fellow podcast travelers. I am Timothy Kimo, Brien, your guide to the this intriguing world. Now I've been listening in creating podcasts since 2006. And I've talked at podcast conferences and taught podcasting since 2017. In my day job, I'm known as the podcast guy, and I help my co workers find podcasts that are entertaining, informative, and essential for their careers and resiliency. At the time, I'm recording this in 2021. There are over two and a half million podcasts available. Now that can be a staggering number to think about. You know, wouldn't it be great to have your own go to person who can give you the information, you need to make an informed decision on which podcast you want to spend your time with? Well, that's my goal with this podcast. I have found that a personal recommendation is much more accurate than something from an algorithm. Now don't get me wrong. searching Google or Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast from, is helpful. But wouldn't it be nice to know before you hit play, what the podcast is about, so you can make an informed decision? Well, that's where I come in. Here's how the show works. I will sift through each category and Apple podcasts or Spotify, or even Google podcasts, and find a show to listen to and research. I'm looking for shows that haven't pod faded, they have a decent sound quality, are engaging and staying on their chosen topic. I'm also looking for the evolution of the show. To see how the host has grown or pivoted. I'll reach out to the host to see if they'd like to say a few words about their show, and talk about their journey. And after that, I'll provide you with all the details made needed to make an informed decision on whether or not to listen to the show. Some of those details will include where you can find the show contact information or so to show social media connections. who's hosting? How long has this podcast been going on? And where you might want to start your binge. The show is going to be in three parts. The first half and yeah, I'm stealing that from Car Talk. That first half will be the objective stats of the show. The second half will be my impressions of the show, and why I think you will find it binge worthy. The third half of the show will be reserved for host interviews. So if you're a stats persons we got you covered. If you're more interested in opinion, that second half is for you. And if you're kinda like me, want to hear directly from the creators, then the third half will be right up your alley. Now I'm only one person doing one show per episode. So this is where you come in. If you just can't wait until I get around to all two and a half million podcasts and you want a personalized recommendation. Then reach out to me Timothy at Find a podcast about dot XYZ or leave a voicemail on the website, find a podcast about dot XYZ or contact me via social media. I'm on Twitter, @FindAPodAbout and Facebook @FindAPodcastAbout If you're a host of a podcast, you can reach out to me using those same channels doesn't necessarily guarantee you will be reviewed on my show for my audience. But let's start that conversation and see what we can do. Well, I look forward to helping you find your next binge worthy podcast. So let's get out there and outsmart the algorithm together. I'll see you next time. Find a podcast about is part of the Ghaggar pod East studio productions. If you need help getting your story out there.
