Frederick Lane is an author, attorney, educational consultant, and lecturer based in Brooklyn, NY. He is the co-founder of The Center for Cyberethics and is a nationally-recognized expert in the areas of cybersafety, digital misconduct, personal privacy, and other topics at the intersection of law, technology, and society. Lane has appeared on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, the BBC, and MSNBC.
He has written ten books, including most recently Cybertraps for Educators 2.0 (2020), Raising Cyberethical Kids (2020), and Cybertraps for Expecting Moms & Dads (2017). He is currently working on his newest book, The Rise of the Digital Mob (Beacon Press 2022). Hailing from Pittsburgh, PA, Seth Ehrlich learned early the value and opportunity that exists within a strong community. He has engaged for more than 20 years in community engagement and building. Projects include multiple collaborative efforts and his professional work with SOS Outreach over the past 15+ years.
He currently serves as executive director for the organization and is dedicated to connecting talent to opportunities for kids and adults associated with the program and growing the organization's impact across current and potential sites.
He moved to the mountains 20 years ago and found a home there. He and his partner have two kids, and being out on skis with them has been a magical part of life.

Dr. Joseph Jones is the Superintendent of Schools in the New Castle County Vocational-Technical School District. Joe is a former high school teacher, assistant principal and principal. As principal, he was named the Delaware Secondary Principal of the Year and during his tenure, Delcastle Technical High School was the first high school to receive the state’s Outstanding Academic Achievement Award. Joe received his doctorate from the University of Delaware in educational leadership. He is also an adjunct professor for various universities.
Dr. T.J. Vari is the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools and District Operations in the Appoquinimink School District. T.J. is a former middle school assistant principal and principal and former high school English teacher. His master’s degree is in School Leadership and his doctorate is in Innovation and Leadership. He holds several honors and distinctions, including his past appointment as President of the Delaware Association for School Administrators and the Paul Carlson Administrator of the Year Award. He teaches educational leadership courses at the masters and doctoral level.
Together, Joe and T.J. present nationally on topics of school leadership, and they co-founded TheSchoolHouse302, which is a leadership development institute specializing in leadership coaching for new and experienced school leaders. They have written five books together, co-authoring several of those with their friends, Principal EL and Connie Hamilton.

Dave Hurwitt is an innovator. Over the course of his career, he’s led the development and launch of new products and services – from toothpicks to wind turbines – that have generated well over $1 billion in sales.
If you have a large, front loading washing machine in your house, that was Dave and his team at Whirlpool. They re-envisioned the traditional, small European washer for the US market and took front loaders from 1% of the market to over 50% today, saving billions of dollars in electricity and water consumption in the process.
Dave has lived and worked around the world, and is now based in Burlington Vermont with his wife and Golden Retriever, Bear. Their 3 “kids” have now graduated from college, but it was his experience with them on their college journeys that started his innovator’s brain cranking on what became Troove.
Having worked in admissions through grad school, he was amazed by how little technology and the internet had impacted the college search and admissions process. And even more, he was dismayed to discover how often students were transferring or dropping out altogether.

Steve Hargadon is the founder and director of the Learning Revolution Project, the host of the Future of Education and Reinventing School interview series, and the founder and chair (or co-chair) of a number of annual worldwide virtual events, including the Global Education Conference and the Library 2.0 series of mini-conferences.
Steve's work has been around the democratization of learning and professional development. He has pioneered the use of live, virtual, and peer-to-peer education conferences, popularized the idea of "unconferences" for educators and built one of the first modern social networks for teachers in 2007 (Classroom 2.0).
He has supported and encouraged the development of thousands of education-related networks, particularly for professional development. For over a decade, he ran a large annual ed-tech unconference called Hack Education (previously EduBloggerCon). He blogs, speaks, and consults on education and technology, and his virtual and physical events and online communities have over 150,000 members.
Steve also has the skin disorder Vitiligo and created the world's largest social network for those with Vitiligo at VitiligoFriends.org.

Sarah Omar is a freelance teacher trainer and educator with over 10 years experience in the field of teaching ESL/EFL. She has worked for the British Council in Cairo for eight years, in addition to a couple of other organizations. She is interested in teacher well-being, assessment, and materials development.

Mike Flanagan is the CEO of the Mastery Transcript Consortium (MTC), a growing group of high schools creating a digital high school transcript that opens up opportunity for each and every student — from all backgrounds, locations, and types of schools — to have their unique strengths, abilities, interests, and histories fostered, understood, and celebrated.

Yvette Larsson, an international Swede, is passionate about learning and innovation so that we can create a better world together. She uses applied neuroscience, focusing on our human potential and the question: What does it mean to be human in a global age of technology?
Her personal story starts 100 kilometers above the Arctic Circle, where she grew up with a lot of freedom and adventure to roam the mountains and the forests of Swedish Lapland. She admits that she was often bored. In hindsight, she has realized that she developed her sense of creativity and entrepreneurial mindset from growing up in a UNESCO protected area with omnipresent nature as her playground. She became an avid reader, traveled in her imagination, explored ideas, and still does.

Malvika brings a wealth of education experience with a particular expertise in assessment design, learning sciences research, and outcomes measurement. At Owl, Malvika leads all portfolio services and partners closely with Owl’s 50+ portfolio companies on their impact and outcomes objectives. She also serves as an thought partner to many of Owl’s limited partners globally and leads the creation of Owl’s annual Education Outcomes Report and Owl Insights. Prior to joining Owl, Malvika was at Emerson Collective, where she led impact and efficacy efforts for a portfolio of EdTech companies, and before that she spent four years as an early employee at Newsela building out their research and assessment teams.
In prior roles, Malvika has worked on assessment design across India, US, & Gulf countries, volunteered as a teacher for low SES communities and was on the founding team for Mindspark, an English language learning program for children in India.
Malvika has been an invited speaker conferences like ASU GSV, SXSWedu, ISTE and SIIA Education Impact Symposium and currently serves as an advisor on EdTech Evidence Exchange’s Industry Council, Google’s Education Advisory Council and IES’s Council for Scaling Innovations. She holds a M.Ed degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Vickie Brett was born and raised in Southern California and through the Inclusive Education Project she focuses on advocating and educating families about their legal rights. Vickie is committed to strengthening her clients who come to her disheartened and beaten down by the current education system. Because Vickie is bilingual, she represents and empowers many monolingual Spanish-speaking families. She is a dedicated pro bono attorney for the Superior Court of Los Angeles’s Juvenile and Dependency 317(e) Panel and in the past was a supervising attorney for the UCI Law School's Special Education Law Project.
Amanda Selogie received a bachelor’s degree in Child and Adolescent Development, specializing in Education from California State University, Northridge and a Juris Doctorate from Whittier Law School where she served as a Fellow in the prestigious Center for Children's Rights Fellowship Program and served in the school's pro-bono Special Education Legal Clinic.
Amanda immersed herself in the world of civil rights and educational advocacy through her work in education, empowerment and advocacy with the Inclusive Education project, supporting inclusion in early education through her appointment to the Orange County Child Care and Development Planning Council and their Inclusion Collaborative Committee, previous work serving as a supervising attorney for UCI Law School’s Education Rights Pro-bono project and coaching of AYSO’s VIP (Very Important Player) program coaching players living with disabilities and creating an inclusive soccer program.

Known as Ella Wang, but named Yi Xiu, Ella is an East-Asian immigrant who has faced many struggles including language barriers, financial difficulties, low self-esteem, discrimination, and a loss of identity. The one thing that never changed was her passion for traditional instrumental music. It’s what motivated her to keep improving and believing in the present and the future. Today, with a combination of hard work, a supportive network, and a hint of luck, she has become an accomplished international musical performer, speaker, and social entrepreneur. She hopes to share her experience in order to empower others!
Join us to learn more about Ella’s experience as an English language learner navigating the school system, her passion for traditional Chinese music, and how it allowed her to shape her learning and motivation.

Sauda Porter is a School Design Partner at Transcend. She has devoted her career to innovative learning and working to create systems to meet the needs of all children.
Prior to joining Transcend, she was a Principal, and later Senior Director, at Perspectives Charter Schools. During her time there, Sauda was a true pioneer of digital learning and brought student agency to the network. She holds two master’s degrees from St. Xavier and Lewis University and lives in the suburbs of Chicago, IL.

Kelly Stuart serves as President and Chief Executive Officer at Collaborative Classroom. In earlier roles at Collaborative Classroom, Stuart worked as Chief Operating Officer, Vice President of Dissemination and Implementation, and Assistant Director of Dissemination.
Previously, she served as the senior research associate at WestEd, where she led dissemination for the Doing What Works (DWW) website, which developed practical tools and videos to support educators in their understanding and use of proven research-based practices based on IES Practice Guides. Also while at WestEd, Dr. Stuart launched the U.S. Department of Education’s School Turnaround Learning Community (STLC), an online community for states, districts, and schools involved in turnaround efforts. Prior to WestEd, she was the director of special programs at the Success for All Foundation.
Since beginning her career as an elementary school teacher, Stuart has worked with educators in schools and after-school sites in every state.

Barnett Berry is a Research Professor at the University of South Carolina, and serves as Senior Director for Policy & Innovation. His work in the 1990s with the National Commission on Teaching and America's Future led to his founding of the Center for Teaching Quality in 1999, a non-profit that focused on igniting teacher leadership to transform public education for more equitable outcomes for students.
He is author of over 150 peer review articles, book chapters, and trade journal publications focused on teaching policy, teacher leadership, and systemic change in education. His two books, TEACHING 2030 and Teacherpreneurs: Innovative Teachers Who Lead But Don't Leave, frame a bold vision for the profession's future. In 2021, he was honored with the James A. Kelly Award for Advancing Accomplished Teaching by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.

Rachel Kripke-Ludwig is a nonspeaking, college bound autistic advocate. She attends Open Mind School in Menlo Park, and is a Community Partner in the AASPIRE Community Based Participatory Research Group, working on a five-year project to develop tools to measure outcomes for adult autism services. She is also on the Community Advisory Council of CommunicationFIRST, the only nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and advancing the civil rights of people who cannot rely on speech to communicate. The OMSIL bridges the gap between neurodivergent populations and the development of products, services, and research. It is an incubator for new technologies to be designed, tested, and launched with the support of K-12 students. Their mission is to research and advocate for universal design and accessibility.

Marina Vaserman is a Doctor of Social Work and she has dedicated her life personally and professionally to servicing youth in our community. Her background is in the field of mental health, neuroscience, and educational advocacy. She specializes in working with foster youth, children identified as gifted learners, and children with learning differences.
Marina is an experienced founder and board member working in the nonprofit sector with startups and social impact organizations. She consults and runs trainings in the school system including public, private, charter, and nonpublic schools on the topics of inclusion, neurodiversity, universal design for learning, curriculum differentiation and personalization and trauma-informed practices. Marina is a highly sought-after guest speaker for presentations, conferences, workshops, podcasts, and trainings. She is also the founder and executive director of Open Mind School, a prek-12 inclusion school in Menlo Park and the clinical director of Open Mind Center for Brain and Behavior, a mental health and behavioral health outreach clinic. When she's not at work, you can catch her in the local community with her son and foster children exploring trails, parks, and the SF Bay Area.

Andrew Jordan Nance has been an educator since 1990. He is the author of four published books; The Barefoot King, The Lion in Me, Mindful Arts in the Classroom, and the bestseller, Puppy Mind. He is the founder of Mindful Arts San Francisco; a program of the San Francisco Education Fund that provides volunteer mindfulness educators to teach in SF public schools. On KTVU’s SF Loves Learning Mr. Nance was the featured Mindfulness Teacher and his adapted five-episode series of Puppy Mind premiered on KTVU and is distributed to school districts around the country. For almost thirty years he taught performing arts to students from diverse backgrounds, and for eighteen years he was the Conservatory Director at San Francisco’s New Conservatory Theatre Center.
Nance is also an award-winning actor and director. He is on the board of directors of several educational nonprofit organizations including Mindful Life Project in Richmond, California and San Francisco’s New Conservatory Theater Center. He is the recipient of the Points of Light Award, a national honor recognizing his volunteer efforts to bring mindfulness to youth.
Mindful Arts San Francisco provides volunteer-facilitated mindfulness instruction to SFUSD students through a partnership with the San Francisco Education Fund. Using a published trauma-informed curriculum that uses storytelling, theatre games, and arts activities, students learn focusing techniques to cultivate the skill of present moment awareness to improve attention, self-regulation, and social-emotional learning so that all students can have the opportunity to thrive.

Paula Fynboh has extensive nonprofit leadership, program development, and equity and social justice experience at the local, national, and international level. Paula has studied and practiced social change extensively and believes that real and sustainable change happens when people come together at the grassroots and community level around seemingly simple, yet powerful actions that shift the narrative and culture of what is acceptable.
Paula currently serves as the Executive Director for Aspire! Afterschool Learning, which provides high-quality, holistic, academic enrichment to students most impacted by the educational opportunity gap in Arlington, VA.
Prior to joining Aspire!, Paula developed international community engagement strategies across three continents with a focus on elevating the voices of youth and women in shaping their community and impacting education outcomes. Paula also developed, led, and scaled Sandy Hook Promise’s school safety and violence prevention strategy, training and engaging schools and youth across the country and growing the organization from a startup organization into a nationally recognized nonprofit. Her accomplishments included developing and delivering programs with an anti-racist and equity lens and facilitating a merger to incorporate SAVE Promise Clubs into Sandy Hook Promise’s framework, greatly expanding program delivery, youth engagement, and sustainability.
Paula holds a Masters in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, a BS in Family Social Science from the University of Minnesota, and a Fellowship from the Billions Institute for Social Change Leaders.

For over three decades, Homa Sabet Tavangar’s work has addressed themes of culture, innovation, leadership, global citizenship and global competence, and deep diversity, equity, belonging and inclusion. She connects timely topics of the moment with the timeless desire to work with purpose and make a difference – whatever one’s circumstances.
Homa’s clients range from Fortune 50 corporations to public, international and independent K-12 schools around the world; from an Ivy League university to Disney Channel and numerous not-for-profit public and multilateral organizations and professional associations. Co-founding the Big Questions Institute and Oneness Lab represents a natural extension of her work, especially during a time of unprecedented global challenges.
Homa is the author best-selling Growing Up Global: Raising Children to Be At Home in the World (Random House, 2009), which was the inspiration behind NBC-Universal’s animated series Nina’s World, starring Rita Moreno. Her other books and publications include Global Kids (Barefoot Books, 2019), The Global Education Toolkit for Elementary Learners (Sage/Corwin, 2014), and her 2021 release, 9 BIG Questions Schools Must Answer to Avoid Going "Back to Normal" (*Because "Normal" Wasn't That Great to Begin With), written with Will Richardson, is available now as a free download.
A graduate of UCLA and Princeton University, Homa has lived on four continents, has heritage in four world religions, speaks (almost) four languages, and is the mother of three daughters. She and her husband live just outside Philadelphia.

Tony DeRose is currently Chief Content Officer and co-founder of X in a Box, LLC. In partnership with innovative companies, X in a Box (xiab.org) creates world-class lessons that connect the classroom to the real-world.
Prior to founding X in a Box Tony was a Senior Scientist at Pixar for 23 years, and for most of that time he led Pixar’s Research Group. In recent years he has contributed to several initiatives to help make math, science, and engineering education more inspiring, primarily for middle and high school students. These initiatives include the Science Behind Pixar museum exhibit, co-founding the Maker Education Initiative (makered.org), as well as creating Pixar in a Box and Imagineering in a Box (both available on Khan Academy). He has received two Scientific and Technical Academy Awards (c) for his work on the mathematics of surfaces, as well as the ACM SIGGRAPH Computer Graphics Achievement Award. He earned a B.S. in physics from UC Davis and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the UC Berkeley.

Heather Clarke is a Black Afro-Caribbean mother of 2 small children. She is also neuro-divergent, with an invisible disability. She has over 20 years of experience working as a teacher, and in the field of educational justice and policy.
She is an abolitionist educator and universal design for learning expert with more than 20 years’ experience working with children and families with disabilities both in the United States and in other countries.
Through Heather’s Learning Advocacy business, she consults with parents and guardians to help them with the process of educational evaluations and the creation and implementation of IFSPs, IEPS, and 504 Plans.
She also consults with businesses, organizations, and educators about topics related to racial Diversity Equity and Inclusion, with a focus on the Disability community.
Heather is an Early Childhood and Special Education adjunct professor at Queen’s College, CUNY, and Field Mentor to student teachers at NYU. Additionally, Heather helps administer several local advocacy groups focused on addressing Anti-Black racism, ableism and dismantling white supremacy, and other educational needs in her local community.

Chelsea Robberson always thought that her dream was to be teaching in a classroom, wearing an “I teach for the money & fame" shirt, and loving every second of dancing along with her students to Tooty Ta by Dr. Jean.
She took her first classroom role in 2005, served in the states and internationally, and loved it all the way through her first taste of school leadership in 2009.
Taking an Assistant Director role pretty much ruined everything…
That role is when it happened; the spark she loved with teaching ignited into a bonfire the moment she saw that she could multiply her impact on learners and educators in a meaningful way.
Her roles over the years have allowed her to build new programs that pushed the assumed limits of what a classroom should look and function like, what teachers should focus on and learn, and what a school environment should feel like.
Since this spark ignited, Chelsea has become (overly) passionate about disrupting the status-quo of education through whatever avenue she’s able to and pushing forward the mission of others with this same thinking.
This has allowed her to work as a School Director, revamping schools from the inside out, partner with innovative schools and education-related businesses to better reach their audience through clarifying their message, provide professional development, and serve on boards and leadership teams in strategic and operations focused roles.

Chris Menage is an award winning educator and learning design innovator whose purpose is to shape ‘new ways of doing, thinking, seeing and being’ that create the human and social capital needed for progressive communities to thrive.
Chris’ experience as a migrant between three countries includes over 20 years’ in private enterprise, government administration, educational and school leadership, not-for-profit boards and local community committees which ensures unique perspectives and fresh insights for this time of flux.
Through e2, Chris continues to influence learning design by collaborating with innovators and activating partnerships so as to build capacity in others to ‘learn about meaning, not things’.

Chris Balme is an education leader and innovator, passionate about helping people discover more of their human potential. Chris was the co-founder and CEO of Spark, a US nonprofit which works across the country to re-inspire the love of learning in adolescents. He then co-founded and was Head of School at Millennium School, a lab school in San Francisco which uses developmental science to create powerful new learning methods for adolescents.
Most recently, Chris founded and now leads Argonaut, an online program which helps adolescents discover their strengths, explore their identity, and find ways to contribute to the world. He also works with schools and teachers around the world to apply developmental science to design happier and more effective learning. Chris is an Ashoka Fellow, and lives with his wife and three rambunctious children in California.

Scarlett Lewis founded the nonprofit Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement after her six-year-old son’s murder in the Sandy Hook tragedy on December 14th, 2012. She became part of the solution to the issues in society -- and that also caused the tragedy -- and advocates for social-emotional learning and character education.
She's the author of Nurturing Healing Love: A Mother’s Journey of Hope & Forgiveness, a memoir of her journey toward choosing love and forgiveness, and From Sandy Hook to the World: How the Choose Love Movement Transforms Lives, an in-depth look at how Scarlett founded the Movement and its impact around the world today. The Movement's Choose Love for Schools Program is a no-cost, comprehensive, lifespan, next generation, SEL and character development program, empowering educators and students to choose love, handle adversity, and manage their emotions. Choose Love programming is extended into homes, communities, athletics, and the workplace, and has been accessed in all 50 states and more than 100 countries.
Speaking across the US and internationally to diverse audiences, Scarlett urges everyone to become part of the solution, dedicating her life to helping children and adults around the world to thrive mentally, socially, and emotionally. She has also been instrumental in changing legislation to incorporate SEL into schools.
In 2021, Scarlett was named a Forbes 50 over 50 Impact Honoree, one of 50 women leading the way with impact and changing their communities and the world in ways big and small through social entrepreneurship, law, advocacy and education.

Benjamin Freud is the co-founder of Coconut Thinking, whose ambition is to create spaces for purposeful thinking and action that contribute to the welfare of the bio-collective. Coconut Thinking imagines learning ecosystems that extend beyond physical and conceptual walls. They would be inter-generational and collaborative. Alongside future-ready skills, they would teach future-saving ethics such as “practice eco-reciprocity,” “stand up for justice,” “share with solidarity,” and “act with kindness.”
Benjamin is also the Whole School Leader of Learning and Teaching at Prem Tinsulanonda International School in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Benjamin focuses on the ‘lived’ curriculum: on pedagogy, and what classroom practice looks like. He thinks about how to develop a culture of active learning, where the boundaries of disciplines start to disappear and learners engage projects that are meaningful and have an impact on themselves, others, and the world.

With a broad background in teaching, administration, and innovation in education, Jeremy Goldstein started his career after graduate school working as a Forensic Archaeologist and Anthropologist in Southeast Asia. Jeremy's educational leadership journey began when he was tasked with directing a growing Global Education program in Rhode Island. He currently serves on the senior leadership team at Episcopal High School as the Executive Director of the McCain - Ravenel Center where he leads teams in developing innovative curricula, designs professional development opportunities, and builds the school's network of partners in the greater Washington D.C. area and beyond.
Using anthropology and a design-thinking mindset as a foundation, he strives to build energy around innovation and connecting communities to unique strategic partnerships. As Chair of the Theology Department, he teaches courses in World Religions, the Holocaust, and anti-Semitism. He lives on the EHS campus with his wife Lucy (EHS Dean of Faculty), their daughter Jane (13), and dog, Callie.

Dr. Jennifer Preschern, CCC-SLP is a USA born speech-language pathologist/learning disabilities teacher. She has spent most of her professional life working in diverse USA public school settings with students from ages 3-15 with various additional needs such as dyslexia, autism, ADHD, and speech/language difficulties. While serving as a pre-school SLP for a school district outside of Chicago, she obtained grant funding to start the first-ever public school LENA program, which has been proven to be a successful method for increasing child language skills and preventing future academic problems.
7 years ago, Jennifer had the opportunity to move to Linz, Austria where she was hired at an International Baccalaureate school as an English teacher. Upon arrival, she was surprised to see that the school had no additional support teachers, making it difficult to include all students. This sparked Jennifer's interest in how or if other IB schools were including students with additional needs. As a result, Jennifer went back to school, obtaining a PhD in literacy from St. Johns University. Her dissertation analyzed International Baccalaureate Primary Years teachers perceptions of dyslexia.
Jennifer moved back to Austria where she now works at Johannes Kepler University, teaching English courses. Jennifer has a continued desire to advocate for access to education and currently holds several volunteer positions with global organizations.
