As the conversation continues, Dr Phathokuhle Zondi tells us about her role as the Medical Officer and Chief Medical Officer during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. In 2016, she joined the Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA) where she held the Chief Executive Officer position for four years.

In this episode, Dr Phathokuhle Zondi takes us through who she is, where the love of sports medicine comes from and what it takes to be a successful student-athlete considering she was a student-athlete at the University of Cape Town. She also tells us about her role as the Team Doctor for SASCOC since 2010, working with SARU and World Rugby and what is the Medical Advisory Commission at SASCOC all about and tasked to do.

Her life mission is to use sport/physical activity as a tool for socio-economic development and as a platform that facilitates transformation, diversity and inclusion.

In 2017 at the SA Sports Awards, she was recognised with the Ministerial Recognition Award in acknowledgement for her contribution to sport in South Africa.

South African field hockey player, Kristen Paton, shares her illustrious hockey career with us. This episode covers the different aspects of her career as well as why she measures herself among her opponents.  

Paton is part of the South Africa women's national field hockey team at the #Tokyo2020 Olympics in Japan.  

To date, she has played in major tournaments such as the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics, 2017 Africa Hockey Cup of Nations and 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup.
