Today's podcast is all about the time that I thought I was dying. And not to be dramatic, but, quite honestly, every single woman either has been or is going to go through a moment, something like this. So, it's my hope that sharing my journey serves you or someone you know and love.
We're talking MENOPAUSE.
Menopause is natural — and every woman will go through it, if she lives long enough — in her own, unique way. And there are many potential reasons that the symptoms are much worse these days than perhaps they were for our mothers’ generation — one reason, as suggested through Ayurveda, is that we enter into perimenopause already depleted, making these significant changes that much harder on our bodies, minds, hearts and spirits. But you do NOT have to go it alone.
My hopes are that, after listening to this episode, if you are feeling alone and un-resourced, you know now that you are not alone, that there is help, and there are folks out here who can support you.
And I want you to keep advocating for yourself, keep the conversations open, and know that you are whole healthy.

Hello there. Welcome and welcome back. And first of all thank you for all of you who've been with me and have been listening all along. As you know, we tell stories or I tell stories, and I hope to inspire you and to help you live your best life. Now that being said, last week was a story. It was a really deep share on my part.
So if you didn't get a chance to listen to that, I encourage you to head on back to last week's podcast. If you did, and you're here with me today, today is gonna take 180 degree turn, and we are going to be going into practical, deep, and real teachings related to the ancient art of Ayurveda, which is the sister Science to yoga.

Hey there. Today's episode is a little unusual, because I'm really going to be cutting straight to the heart of the matter and going straight for the jugular of the soul with a little bit of storytelling. So, I hope that you get something potent out of this because I'm sharing my whole heart with you, and I have a hunch that we're not so different under it all.
We never know what's gonna happen or how things are gonna turn out. We never know where we're gonna be. It's sort of like that saying where we say, Hey, I'm gonna make really great plans and God, or however you perceive God to be, sort of laughs at us .
That's what I'm talking about.

Hey there, I am super grateful to be talking about a topic that is near and dear to my heart, and I might even say that I'm a bit of an expert on this one. So, I hope that you find this to be entertaining and of high value for you.
In today's episode, I'm talking about claw marks.
I don't remember where I read it, and it's been many years now.… but it was a good one… It’s that perfect quote about letting go :: the kind of thing you read that stops you in your tracks and leaves you spontaneously nodding Yes ::
“Everything I have ever let go of has claw marks.”
I love when things stick like this. When they seem to anchor me to a truth that I knew was true… but I couldn’t quite get to all by myself.
It's true you know: If I might be so bold as to generalize, we, humans sure know how to hold on tight — to things and people and experiences that aren’t good for us anymore, and we also know how to hold on for way longer than is useful.
Letting go is no easy task and there's so much science and soul around this discussion but, today, I just want to give you a few simple things to think about...

Today's topic is one of my favorites... It's a favorite of mine because it's sort of my secret little weapon, if you will, that I use as a way in which to optimize work, energy and love. So, I hope that through today's topic, which is all about purifying this vessel, that there are some things that I might be doing that you can do too and/or just inspire you to make these things your own.

Today's topic feels light-hearted and also simultaneously really, really serious. Now, I'm going to jump right into the topic with you, because I want to keep these podcasts really short and sweet for you. But the reality is that it has been a really hard month for me. So... you know that saying when going through hell, keep going?
It's worth mentioning that we all have seasons of loss and uncertainty where we might feel like curling up on the rug in fetal position... Essentially we all go through really serious loss and disintegration at some point in our lives. And, although the parts and the pieces and the details of each of our experiences are unique - yours is unique to you and mine is unique to me - the part that is the same is how we GET through hell rather than staying STUCK in it.

I've spoken for a decade or more about this concept or construct that I call living your yoga. And the reason I call it this is because the word 'yoga' essentially means to live in alignment in accordance (not discord) with our values, dreams, visions for the future, and even our pasts.
Today, I want to share with you how we go in the direction of living one's yoga.

Sometimes I get the question: “Why have you chosen the path of Yoga and Ayurveda?” The best answer, I suppose, is that I don’t feel as though I chose it. It feels more like yoga and ayurveda chose me.
Today, I wanted to come to you because I wanted to speak about the tools that I use when I feel depleted, when I don't know what to do, and how I raise my energy and bring myself back into vitality.

Today's topic, for some, is going to receive a standing ovation and a hip, hip, hooray. And I'm sure that for others of you, you're going to grunt and groan and sigh in dismay.
But the truth of it is, I can't share where I've come from and everything that I have come to learn without addressing this particular topic:: YOGA and all of its benefits.
If you've fallen away from the practice or if you really sort of hate yoga, this one's for you.

I'm not sure if this particular podcast would best be accompanied by a "trigger" warning right out of the gate.
I know, for me, I have been triggered a lot recently. And the way that that shows up for me is for me to go deep within my heart and say, okay, I'm being triggered. What's going on within my own skin? And I know that that's not everybody's way, and so I support that as well.
I will say that I'm going to be speaking into topics that are ALIVE for us at this point, and that my intention is truly to find the places where we are more the same than we are different.
So if you're interested in sitting through the next 15 minutes or so just to perhaps validate your perspective and/or open your heart and mind to a new perspective, then I say, stay right here with me. But if you're just not in that space, then I also give you complete permission to bail. Right now. And, you know, go listen to some music or go for a walk in nature or do something that's going to serve you-- That's going to serve you really.
That being said, let's all take a deep breath together. Let's send the breath down and out our bodies. Inhale to the crown of the head. And let's begin.

At the time of this particular podcast, I am about halfway through Radical Self-Care Roadmap, which is a program that I share with students once or twice a year. And this entire month, therefore, is focused entirely on radical self-care. Now, part of radical self-care is, in fact, BALANCE.
When I think about balance, it really gets me fired up to look at what we've been taught, the ideals that we've been held to culturally, and also what's really the real deal with balance.
My hope for us today is that we can shift our perspective, perhaps even just shifting the kaleidoscopic perspective that we have on what balance is and what it's not, so that we can all rise into our next best and highest evolution.

Today, I want to talk to you about meditation.
Now, some of you might be meditators Others of you, perhaps not. But maybe if you're not a meditator, you might be inspired to pick it up and you might use your meditation practice a little bit differently. If you feel so moved after hearing this particular podcast. So like I said, I'm always going to do my best to offer you something practical, something to chew on, something to mull over, or something to literally apply to your life so that you can live a more brilliant and vertical and inspired and impactful life.
Let's dive in, shall we?

In this week's episode, I'm going to be diving deeply into saying NO. How do we know when it's OK to say no? And is it ever OK to say no when someone comes to you with a need? And this is piggybacking on a big conversation that I see humanity having around self-care... This whole conversation around is self-care selfish?

I'm feeling a little bit fired up about this episode, because it is time. I know what it feels like to be on a hamster wheel and to feel like it's just spinning and spinning and spinning, and we're spinning right there with it out of control. And so, in this episode, we're going to focus our attention on how we make a transition down from that hamster wheel to getting control back in our lives and doing the best thing for ourselves, others and the world.

In today's episode, I want to talk about how crazy out of control it feels in the world and how I don't want to be a naysayer, but I don't really get a strong feeling that a lot of things are going to be changing anytime in the very near future.
So that being said, I want to focus our attention on how you fill your toolbox with all the things that you need in order for you to keep control of your internal world.

In today's episode, I want to have a heart to heart about what every woman knows.
Recently, I read this amazing. quote by Clarissa Pink Estes, the author of Dangerous Old Woman and Women Who Run with the Wolves, an all-time favorite of so many women... and she said that she feels as though all women are overqualified for all jobs. And I have to say, there's something about that that feels really right and true.
Now, that being said, I offer that there are things that we know that we might be sleepwalking through.
So, I'd like to have a heart to heart about that.

On today's episode, I'm going to take you on a little journey down memory lane to a time and a place when I was greatly surprised by life and was also profoundly impacted by the lesson that life set out to teach me. In today's episode, I'm sharing five of the ways that you can live your yoga.
When I talk about living your yoga, what I'm talking about is how you can live your life in alignment: your thoughts, your words, your actions, your values and your highest aspirations are all lined up and going in the same direction.
I hope today's episode gives you a little bit of insight into how you can bring your whole life into more integrity and into more happiness.
Let's get right on into it...
