We know (and have seen) that having our bitcoin on centralized exchanges like Coinbase and Kraken is a bad idea. And in some jurisdictions it is becoming difficult to even purchase your bitcoin from these exchanges. So what is the solution? There is a group of exchanges called either "decentralized"or "peer to peer" that will always be available no matter where you live. Even though you might not need them today .. maybe it's best to know about these options for purchasing your bitcoin.

One of this weeks news items is that the bitcoin wallets holding less than one bitcoin ("shrimps") are actually stacking more sats than the entire output of Bitcoin Miners. That is terrific news!!!! It turns out, despite what the press might imply, we don't need corporate funding in order to keep bitcoin adoption moving. The businesses and corporation will come.. nation states will adopt bitcoin and eventually it will be reserve currency of the world. But remember we DO NOT NEED THEM.

When Luke tells Obi-wan Kenobi these words during the early part of the Star Wars movie the sense of hopelessness is almost palpable. But it turns out of course that Luke CAN make a difference. In a very short period of time he is thrown into the war against a tyrannical government controlling the galaxy. He made a difference.
Maybe you feel like Luke did because you have no control. Governments around the world are printing money like it means nothing. Inflation is climbing. There are multiple countries on the edge of hyperinflation events. By virtually every metric the average person is losing the financial battle. But Bitcoin brings hope and the possibility of future based on sound money. A way to combat the Evil Empire while not having to lift a blaster.

There are two main theories of macro economics - Austrian and Keynesian. Austrian economics developed in the late 1800's Austria while Keynesian economics was developed in the environment of the 1930's Great Depression.
I believe that it's pretty indisputable that the majority of the countries of the world operate under what amounts to Keynesian economics. I believe that these policies are what are bringing us to the brink of a Global Depression.
In today's episode I give an overview of the two economic theories, a bit of history and the major differences between them.

For years I have held the thesis that there would be some point in time when the game of fiat currencies backed by "faith and trust" in government would fall like a badly built house of cards. With the kickoff the of global pandemic and subsequent governmental reactions (including accelerating national debt levels) I reasoned that the time of reckoning was drawing nearer. With the beginnings of the rise of various inflation rates I started saying on the podcast that basically 2023 should be the worse part of the recession. That still may prove to be true but I am very strongly starting to believe it will be in the next few months (say three to six months) instead of the second half of 2023. This weeks news is packed full of backing for those views. Inflation is beginning to spike sharply in a number of countries. As an example, the Netherlands are reporting 17.1% inflation for September. A number of institutions are experience severe credit issues. Energy production is down. Energy prices in Europe are spiraling upward. The war in the Ukraine is continuing to drag on. Banks and various other companies are beginning to say they don't have liquidity (ie .. cash) to continue. Apparently without a governmental intervention (ie .. injection of cash via creation of more debt) the majority of the pensions in Britain would have been insolvent last week. The culmination of years of work is occurring tonight with the "merge". New York State has a bill that is waiting on the Governor to sign that would ban proof of work mining. This would mean that companies would not be allowed to set up new bitcoining mining operations in the state after the bill is passed. Even with the state Assembly and Senate passing the bill, there is no guarantee it will be signed into law. The governor is now saying that the bill will need to be looked at very closely. In my opinion, one of the most important events of the year will be taking place with the Ethereum 2.0 "merge". The process that will bring together the beacon chain and the main net will create a true deflationary token. It will also be moving from proof of work to proof stake.
