We're back! The second season of External Discussions kicks off with a bang as Alex welcomes his KSL broadcast colleague, and the "Voice of Olympus" himself, Nathan Thatcher. And how big a bang is it? It's so big, it's been split into two parts! In this first part of the season premiere of External Discussions, Alex and Nathan share how they prepare for game broadcasts and how they both started their own routes to get on the air, and what they feel is the most important thing to do to get in any groove in any situation.

It's the end of the summer, which means only one thing: it's time to get back to football! Alex closes out this year's editions of the Summer Sessions by revisiting his conversation with lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan Angelica Santiago. They discuss how her faithfulness to the Birds paid off and how it applied to her own personal life, and Alex relates it to his wait as a San Francisco 49ers fan for a coveted sixth Super Bowl title.

Alex revisits his conversation with her in the fifth episode of the Summer Sessions and how we should not let the guilt and regret that comes from the consequences of our decisions control us.
One hundred and seventy-five years ago, it was the prophet Brigham Young who led the Saints into the Salt Lake Valley, pounding his cane to say, "This is the place!" These pioneers paved the way for many, including Hideaki Miyoshi, the owner of Tokkuri Tei, one of Hawaii's most-recognized Japanese izakaya (Japanese bar-style casual dining) restaurants, who passed away on July 5 due to complications from a fall at his home on June 20--the day after Alex and his family went to dinner at the restaurant. In this fourth episode of the Summer Sessions, Alex pays tribute to the man they nicknamed "Santa-san" and shares his memories of Miyoshi, his sushi chef and business partner Kazu Mitake, and his ability to adapt, which lasted through three different locations on Kapahulu Avenue and a global pandemic.

As the summer rolls on, some students may be looking back at their school years and wondering where they could improve. In the third episode of the Summer Sessions, Alex revisits his conversation with Randy Barranca and discusses how people should look to move forward by applying the lessons they learned in their lives so far. He also teases what's to come in next week's Pioneer Day special, and announces his first guest to come in season two.
Mental Health Awareness Month may have been two months ago, but it still matters. Alex commemorates his 24th birthday by revisiting his conversation with Ryan Wood about the principle of "One More Light", inspired by Linkin Park's hit song, and how it helps us see the good around us. Then, Alex and Ryan share their musical talents as they perform "One More Light" together.
