My first guest today is Katie Mahoney, co-founder of an inspiring charitable organization, We Are Young. Katie and partner Cara Chisholm work tirelessly to grant unfulfilled wishes to seniors, changing societal perception on aging, and bridging gaps between generations in a beautiful way.

Then we're talking staycations with Sarah Laturnus from Ottawa Tourism. As a fellow Ottawa native, I'm excited to dig into the endless possibilities of what our city has to offer, and why Ottawa is so much more than just a political hub.

After that, we have Anne Brodie giving us the lowdown on one of the wildest weeks in entertainment we've seen, from a major writers' and actors’ strike that has early signs to be a long drawn out one, to the launch of two anticipated summer blockbusters, Oppenheimer and Barbie.

We're then going on a nostalgia trip with Erica Ehm, talking about the birth of MuchMusic and its impact on our generation. Erica was at the heart of it all and will be discussing the new documentary "299 Queen St. W".

We're then shifting gears to a serious topic that affects millions of Canadians - diabetes. Dr. Christine Palmay is here to discuss the latest developments in managing this condition, specifically GLP-1 Receptor Agonists.

Finally, we're wrapping up with another trip, this time to Surrey BC. Ange Chew from Discover Surrey is joining us to share all the local gems that make Surrey a must-visit destination.

Opening my show today is Catherine Dunphy. We're diving into a crucial topic that unfortunately affects countless women worldwide - gender-based violence. Catherine, a fervent women's rights advocate, writer, poet, and humanist, has devoted her life to early intervention and prevention of such violence. As the founder of the Kimberley Project, she's on the frontlines, tirelessly implementing social-emotional learning programs in childcare centers and kindergartens.

Moving into somewhat uncharted territory, I will be chatting with Jacki Yovanoff about polyamory. It's a topic I've hesitated to approach, not out of judgment, but perhaps due to unfamiliarity. Jacki, an advocate, speaker, and self-proclaimed research nerd, has been exploring the world of non-monogamy for over a decade. Join us as she shares her insights on polyamory and how it has genuinely aligned with her relationship orientation.

Then, we have Anne Brodie giving us the lowdown on the latest entertainment buzz. From discussing the thrilling new Mission Impossible movie to reviewing the compelling The Miracle Club starring Laura Linney, Kathy Bates, and Maggie Smith, Anne is here to keep us informed and entertained.

I then take you on a journey with Tanzila Khan, a woman whose story epitomizes empowerment and resilience. Tanzila, a passionate entrepreneur, activist, public speaker, author, and filmmaker, refuses to let her disability limit her. Recognized with the prestigious Amal Clooney Women’s Empowerment Award, Tanzila will share her experiences and insights on solo travel as a woman with a disability.

Then, meet Lara Wellman, an experienced coach and ardent advocate for self-compassion. Lara challenges the relentless 'hustle culture,' offering a refreshing perspective on what we perceive as 'laziness.' Her forthcoming book, 'You're Not Lazy,' delves deeper into this subject.

And finally, we have Clare Kumar joining us to share her expertise on productivity and inclusivity. As a productivity catalyst, executive coach, and international speaker, Clare will provide guidance on advocating for our own needs effectively and handling sensitive conversations without becoming defensive.

This year more than ever, it’s important to be vocal about our support of the LGTBQIA2S+ community as they face a barrage of hate and threats, prompting the federal government to even increase security funding for Pride events. Fae Johnstone from Wisdom2Action knows all too well what this group is facing on a daily basis after being inundated with death threats and hate messages for appearing on a Hershey’s Chocolate Bar this spring. Fae, thankfully is no shrinking violet, and has been continuing her advocacy work to protect the rights of this small but mighty community. Fae joins me to discuss the current state of things in Canada and how allies can help.

Chelsea Felker was lonely and wanted to make friends, but how to do that in our hyper connected yet disconnected world. Through Tiktok of course and by moving the online, offline into events and meetups. Her idea is taking off in her hometown of Ottawa and through it women are finding new BFFS. Chelsea joins me to share why she started her account and how anyone can do this in their city.

Anne Brodie is in with new entertainment and is desperately trying to help me recover from my Ted Lasso blues. Meridian Credit Union is back baby for a four part series on finances during different stages of women’s life. We kick things off today with Kerri Anderson, Senior Practice Management Coach with Meridian Credit Union and it’s all about retirement, and we’re asking the question, is Freedom 55 still a thing?

Who’s up for some Good Clean Fun? Sarah Kate is a former wine-loving mom of two on a mission to help women rethink drinking and overcome the normalization of alcohol everywhere by inspiring them to find the fun in life, sans alcohol.

Anne Brodie’s regular Saturday Night at the Movies is a little bit longer this week simply because there is so much new in entertainment we had to! We chat about Eternal Spring, Canada's submission for the 2023 Oscars in the Best International Feature Film category, A Jazzman’s Blues on Netflix, the much anticipated Blonde also on Netflix about Norma Jean Baker AKA Marilyn Monroe, a documentary on Apple TV about class act Sidney Poitier and finally a stunning series on TVO called Great Lakes Untamed.

Lindsay Sealey, author of Made for More is back for the second in a series about Gen Z women and girls and we chat about the not good enough epidemic and how we can help our young women fight back against it.

If you are drawn to horror when in comes to entertainment, either in documentaries, films, or books you’re not alone. Women are weirdly obsessed with horror. Author Ainslie Hogarth and I break that down plus we talk about her latest book, Motherthing, a darkly funny domestic horror novel about a woman who must take drastic measures to save her husband and herself from the vengeful ghost of her mother-in-law. Yes, it’s fiction.

Finally, Anne Brodie is back with a interview with the incredible Tyler Perry who wrote and directed TIFF hit and Netflix release, A Jazzman’s Blue which follows an investigation into an unsolved murder unveiling a story full of forbidden love, deceit and a secret.
