The assistant program is something that can be very beneficial to a new stylist and to the salon, if it's done right. Our view of an assistant is someone who you supports the salons needs but is also trained in the standards of the salon and the end goal is to have them contribute to the salon as a stylist, on the floor, at a pace that makes sense for the individual stylist and their talents.

We follow our V.O.L.U.M.E. framework for any salon business opportunity. The 'O' is the Optimization zone and part of that is putting pen to paper and developing your Salon Business Plan. This is such an important exercise to go through as it takes you through the process and gets all the ideas in your head and gets it into something that you, banks, leasing agents, and others can utilize to understand the viability of your plan. This has worked very well for us in making sure we uncover any obstacles early in the process. Be accurate and be detailed and you'll save yourself a lot of pain by putting time into the plan.
