There’s nothing like crossing over into the second half of the year to trigger you to take action on those big projects in your business.

I am supporting a number of women to bring some massive goals to life this quarter and a common conundrum is “How am I going to fit this in among all the other competing priorities in my life?”

In a perfect world, everything would slot in beautifully but in reality, life needs some serious adjustment in order to give these projects the required energy and focus to achieve the outcomes you want.

I call these Seasons of Sacrifice.

This is a break from normal programming - it doesn’t last forever but there is always a reason for the season. Sometimes we consciously choose the season, other times the season is forced upon us.

Whatever the reason, I have some tips to get you through it and out the other side and I’m sharing them with you in this episode.

My guest on this episode is Vanessa Bennett, CEO and co-founder of Next Evolution Performance - an organisation that uses neuroscience to help driven business leaders and teams to optimise productivity, energy and profitability without the burnout.

Like Vanessa and her team, I do not believe that success needs to equal burn out.

Sadly, I see many broken women limp into my world who have nothing left in the tank after doing everything themselves.

Vanessa works with leaders of businesses of all shapes and sizes every day and she is sharing the goods with us in our chat. Not only does she have the intel and the insights, she has solutions for us to better manage our energy to avoid burnout.

We talk about just how much cognitive energy we have per day (and spoiler alert - it’s not anywhere near as much as you think). Vanessa shares how we can manage and, most importantly, optimise our energy and how crucial automation, delegation and simplification are for this.

Vanessa’s insights are going to help shift your focus from how much you do and for how long to improving your output and lowering workload.

How do you feel about your business branding? Are you proud? Do you feel like it is a true representation of your business?

Or does it make you cringe? Perhaps you’ve thrown that project in the Too Hard Basket? Or maybe it’s never been a priority for you?

My guest in this episode believes that every business, no matter how small, deserves the right to an extraordinary online presence, top-shelf creative and an inspiring brand.

Zoe Scott is a seasoned designer, branding specialist and founder of design agency The Design Order. Zoe has found her sweet spot helping small businesses get cut through in the marketplace. She is a pro at taking her clients business and branding to the next level. Clients love her can-do attitude and her ability to make the experience a fun and rewarding one.

In our chat, Zoe and I talk about the common struggles faced by business owners when it comes to branding and, most importantly, how to overcome them.

We explore the preparation required before collaborating with a branding specialist - including the importance of finding a service provider who aligns with your business vision and understands your target audience.

Zoe also acknowledges the budget constraints of small businesses and talks through how design tools like Canva can help you put your best face forward.

She addresses some common issues she sees in her website audits and highlights how these things can have a negative impact on your business.

This episode is jam-packed with insights that are going to help you enhance your brand presence and impactfully connect with your target audience.

You may be feeling like things are a little “quiet” on the business front right now. Instead of hitting the panic button, take action instead.

Considered action. But it’s the one action that many business owners try to avoid…

Business development, lead generation, new business activity - notice how we try to call it anything but “sales” activity?

My guest in this episode has redefined what it means to “do sales”. Abbie White’s superpower is marrying sales and marketing efforts in order to deliver out of this world results for her clients.

She has proven strategies that are easy to implement and she is sharing the gold with us in this episode. She wants you to know what she knows so that you can boost your business

This is a replay of a conversation I had with Abbie almost two years ago so there are mentions of covid and lockdowns. The content is particularly timely right now and everything she shares is as applicable now as it was back then.

Strap yourself in because after you listen to our chat you are going to feel amped up and ready to tackle business development head on in your business.

Do you take time to pause and reflect on your business (and life)?

Shivani Gupta has had a most extraordinary career as an entrepreneur. She has owned, scaled and exited multi million dollar businesses, presented to over a quarter of a million people all around the world and has authored eight books.

When Shivani and I first met, she was in the process of selling her business and facing an uncertain future.

This led to her decision to take a six-month sabbatical and in this episode of Your Business Boost, Shavni talks about what came up for her during this time.

She grappled with questions about her identity and purpose outside of her professional and personal roles.

Who was she if she wasn’t a business owner?

She shares very openly about how challenging she found it to “let go” and her struggle to find joy in the absence of familiar identities.

I’m going to let Shivani tell you in her own words how this played out but… spoiler alert… It has led her to her most important work yet.

I LOVE a plan. Sitting down and formulating the pathway to achieve mine or my client’s dreams is the stuff I live for. And I LOVE working with women who love planning as much as I do.

One of those women is the episode’s guest, Melissa Marsden.

Mel is the Founder of workplace strategy and interior design studio, COMUNiTI. She has spent over 20 years guiding organisations to leverage their physical environments to elevate employee experience, empower high performing teams and unleash productivity.

Her design and business brilliance have been recognised by the Australian Institute of Management, Design Institute of Australia and Telstra Business Women’s Awards among many others.

She is also the host of the Work Life by Design podcast which I have been a special guest interviewing her about her recently published book, The Next Workplace.

She sounds like a rock star right? She is!

But even rock stars get thrown curve balls and that is what Mel is sharing with us in this episode.

Because about 18 months ago - behind the very polished, gorgeous looking business and woman, life was most definitely not going according to her well-thought out plan.

Business was exploding, her team was imploding, there was a surprise pregnancy, looming book and client work deadlines coming in one after the other.

I have been privileged to have worked with Mel before, during and after this period and I have marvelled at her grace and resilience through all of these plot twists.

In our chat, Mel shares her experience of what it's really like to build a business, write a book AND have a baby all at the same time.

I am so thankful that Mel agreed to have this conversation because I know that right now, a lot of people’s businesses and lives may not be going according to plan. If this is the case for you, please know that you are not alone. I hope that this conversation provides you with some much needed comfort and perspective.

It’s that time of year. The calendar ticks over to the month of June this week which means end of financial year.

Hilary is a Virtual CFO and the founder of Titian Consulting. She is a numbers ninja and champion for small business owners. She helps everyone from one-person start-ups to international enterprises untangle their numbers and achieve financial success.

Hilary’s gift is sharing her financial knowledge in an easy to digest manner and demystifying the hard stuff - and that’s exactly what she is doing for us in this episode.

In this episode, Hilary and I talk about the role a CFO plays in our business. She shares tips for how we can be more financially savvy in our businesses and where we should put our attention to ensure we are building a business that can survive long term.

As business owners, we are all generating content every day. Not just social media content - you are sending emails, people are visiting your website, you might be sharing worksheets or questionnaires with your clients.

Do you ever consider how this content could be received by one of the 1 billion people worldwide who are living with disabilities?

No judgement here - because if you aren’t, you are in the majority.

My guest on this episode is Kathryn Collins, an accredited Accessible Document Specialist who has built a successful business helping organisations make their documentation accessible to everyone, especially people with a disability, a vision impairment or who are neurodivergent.

Kat is committed to helping businesses of all sizes to understand the importance of accessibility when creating bespoke document designs.

And that is what she is here to talk to us about today.

It’s definitely an area that gets overlooked - and like so many things in business, we don’t know what we don’t know and Kat is the woman to educate us.

Breaking up with a client is not exactly the most fun part of our job as business owners but sadly it does need to happen from time to time.

In this episode I am sharing some practical tips to consider when you find yourself in this situation.

Yes - it can be a stressful and dreaded experience but I want you to feel confident that you can manage the situation in a way that is damage-limiting and maintains your professionalism and integrity.

Clear communication, leaning on terms of business and your internal processes are going to serve you well here.

You can’t control other people’s behaviour but you can control how you respond to it and there is no need for you to stay in a working relationship that is unsustainable.

Trigger Warning: This episode contains references to themes of depression and anxiety.

As business owners, it’s easy to fall into a trap of working in a bit of a bubble. There is a world full of amazing people who think, learn and behave in diverse ways and it’s important to expand our knowledge and exposure so that we can be even better service providers, and humans.

As a supporter of neurodiverse women in my business, I am learning more every day about the nuances of assisting women who work, think and process information completely differently to me.

Which is why I asked today’s guest, Sarah Spence, to join me for a chat.

Sarah has grown her content marketing business from a solopreneur to an agency with a team of 20 in just 2 years. During this time of amazing growth, Sarah was diagnosed with ADHD.

In our chat, Sarah shares openly about her experience of ADHD and how it's impacted her as a business founder.

Sarah is a champion of neurodivergent people and gives us some great tips for working with neurodiverse people in our lives. I learned so much during my chat with Sarah and I know you will too.

As business owners, it's important to make time to regularly check-in on our business. The end of the quarter is an ideal time to drill down on how everything is going.

In this episode I talk about the importance of setting aside time for a formalised review of the metrics that matter most to your businesses.

I will give you the steps to follow to give you a clear picture of exactly where you stand - then you can make informed decisions and create actionable plans to stay on track with your vision and goals.

Where are you making things harder than they need to be?

Are you one of the (many) people who thinks if something feels too easy then there must be something wrong?

Having seen the inner workings of 100s of businesses, I could fill a book with examples of overcomplicated business ideas that went horribly wrong. Ideas that when put in practice made life way more complicated than it needed to be.

But I could fill another BIGGER book of simple ideas that went right.

Overly complicated businesses inevitably lead to burnt out business owners.

Let’s stop all the time, money and energy leaks by looking at where you can simplify your business.

There are some really shocking statistics around women and money. The sad truth is that many of us lack vital knowledge and skill when it comes to managing money and building wealth.

This does not only apply to those of us running a business.

Often it’s a case of we don’t know what we don’t know. It can feel overwhelming to figure out on our own. So we don’t and live in blissful ignorance until something terrible happens and we have to deal with it.

In this episode I am introducing you to one of my amazing clients, Molly Benjamin, founder of Ladies Finance Club. Molly has made it her business to educate women of all ages and stages of life about finance and she is here to share some great tips to help us manage our money. There are endless opportunities that we could pursue as business owners.

But we don’t need to catch every ball that is thrown at us.

Every opportunity comes at a cost - time, resources, money and most importantly - energy!

It might be the best looking or sounding idea on paper. It might even appear good for business, but is it good for you?

How do you know?

In today’s episode, I am sharing some advice on how you can identify what a good opportunity is for you and how to get comfortable saying “no” to what isn’t.

As small business owners, we don’t always have big budgets for marketing. With social media organic reach dwindling and the cost of digital ads increasing, we need to consider other tactics to get noticed by new clients and stay top of mind with our existing ones.

Becoming our own publicist and getting free media exposure is a great way to boost your business and it won’t cost you a cent. The value of great press can be worth thousands in terms of business opportunities so it is well worth the effort.

But how do we do it? What’s the magic formula?

My guest in this episode is Liz Nable, a former TV journalist turned entrepreneur. Like so many business owners, Liz had no formal business training when we started out. What she did have was a ton of media skills which she used to turn little-known brand fitness brand, Xtend Barre, into a household name here in Australia.

Liz now teaches other business owners how to be their own publicist - to seek, get and leverage media exposure to drive growth in their business and she is sharing her secrets with us today.

Do you find it hard to focus? Wonder where your time goes each day? Worried you might be suffering with toxic tech-habits?

You are not alone.

My guest in this episode is, Dr Kristy Goodwin - a digital wellbeing and neuro productivity speaker, author and researcher. Dr Kristy's work shows us how we can use technology in ways that are aligned to our neurobiology - the way our brains and bodies are designed to work.

As you will hear in our chat today, Dr Kristy does not advocate for digital amputation, cancelling our Netflix subscriptions or never going on social media again.

Instead she gives practical strategies to eradicate our unhelpful digital habits and replace them with new ones that will improve not only our performance and productivity but our relationships, physical and mental wellbeing.

Kristy's new book “Dear Digital, We Need to Talk” is available now.

As business owners we can have the tendency to go looking for solutions to our “problems” in all the wrong places. There is a lot of noise out there about what we should and shouldn’t be doing - it can be really hard to know our own minds.

But what if we had the tools to tap into and trust our own inner knowing? To get out of our heads and really listen to what our heart is telling us?

My guest today is Helen Jacobs - a renowned psychic who followed her own heart by quitting her successful PR career to support thousands of people all over the world through her work as a medium.

She has published her third book ‘Follow Your Heart’ - the practical and inspiring guide to tuning into what you really want, and how to work with the Universe to make it happen.

In this episode, Helen shares tools and insights we can use in our own lives. She believes everyone, not just psychics like her, is intuitive and it is that intuition that can help us live the life we dreamed of if we tap into it.

I’ve spoken openly about my depletion at the end of last year and I have made a vow to take better care of myself this year. I know I’m not the only one who ended the year with an empty tank so perhaps you are on a similar mission? We can start the year with good intentions but once real life kicks in either later this month, those intentions can fall away.

How can we be better at prioritising our health and well-being this year?

My guest today, Dr Kellie Rose, is here to help. Dr Kellie runs a thriving executive health coaching business, where she empowers, inspires and supports women in business to perform, lead and succeed through the science of wellbeing.

It was Kellie’s personal experience of debilitating burnout several years ago that led her on a mission to prevent other women from experiencing burnout like she did.

Dr Kellie is a wealth of information and she has some really easily implementable tips for you.  So if you finished up 2022 feeling pretty ordinary, you are going to get so much from my chat with Dr Kellie.

When my marriage ended 5 years ago, I actively sought out other women who had been through a similar experience. I found comfort in their stories and soaked up their learnings to give me hope that there was in fact Life After Divorce.

One of those women was Cathrine Mahoney and I am thrilled to have her as my guest in this episode.

Cathrine is a former publicist and author of the most hilarious book ‘Currently Between Husbands’.

As a self-confessed over-sharer, this book is a warts-and-all look at her whole life – from her early crushes growing up in Wales, to her years working with some of the world's biggest stars at Sony Music, the end of her marriage to one of the country’s highest profile sports stars to navigating life and love as a ‘solo’ mum, and everything in between.

It’s like Bridget Jones’ Divorce Diary and is proof that there is life, love and plenty of laughter after divorce.

So if you or anyone you care about is going through a tough time at the moment, you will find great hope and lots of laughs in my chat with Cathrine Mahoney.

Lise Carlaw and Sarah Wills (aka 'Those Two Girls') are the girlfriends we wish we had in our gang. These besties are hugely successful media personalities, hosting hit local and national radio shows for years as well as being in-demand speakers & MCs.

When they turned 40, they launched the other must-listen-on-a-Monday podcast called Forty where they celebrate the life lessons and stories of popular and everyday women in their forties.

In 2022 they published their first book Forty Favours the Brave and it is hands down one of my books of the year - possibly ever.

The book follows the same theme as the podcast - the girls and other women from all walks of life, share insightful tales about entering their forties and beyond: things they wish they'd known, relationship changes, heartbreaks survived, confidence gained and the joy of life in its second act.

It was such a treat to sit down and talk to the girls about the book, their friendship and life in their 40s. They are generous with all that they share and utterly hilarious so strap yourself in for my chat with Lise and Sarah.

Enjoy x

The biggest lesson that every business owner learned when Covid hit back in March 2020 was that you can not rely on one source of revenue. Putting all your eggs in one basket is a risky strategy for business growth.

In this episode, I take you through 10 different ways you could consider delivering your services to make them more accessible and appealing to current and potential clients.

This is not a shopping list of all the things that you need to be doing to have a successful business. This is not the Fastrack to your First Million. In fact, some of these revenue streams may cost you money in the short term. But they are going to have a positive impact on your business in other ways.

I want to get you thinking - before you start your planning for next year- what you could do, not what you should do in order to boost your business.

But what are you doing about it?

In the day-to-day grind it’s easy to slip into reactive mode and to lose sight of this. Before you know it, a month or three months or even a year has gone by before you pause to consider the woman you have become.

So before you get stuck into making plans for next year, pause and contemplate:

Who do you want to be in 2023?

My mission is to make running a business as pain free as possible. I love to uncomplicate the complicated and I’m a sucker for anything that can shrink a ten step process down to a couple of steps and get the same or even better outcome.

My guest in this episode is Marissa Roberts - a busy mum and business owner who only works 2 hours a day - that’s right, 2 hours! She loves helping other women simplify their businesses and their lives so they too can work less and enjoy life more.

She has some gold to share with you in this episode, including:

  • How Marissa was able to simplify her business and life by working just 10 hours a week

  • The tools and systems Marissa uses to automate her business and save her precious time

  • How she utilises her website Contact Page to her reduce the number of emails she receives

When you hear the word menopause, you may think it’s something that happens when you become an “old lady”.

I didn’t realise until it was way too late that menopause is just a date. It’s perimenopause which can last up to 10 years before you go through menopause that has the wildest impact on us as women and it’s something that rarely been talked about until now.

As a typical listener of this podcast, statistically you may already be in perimenopause (or not too far off). There is no avoiding the impact it will have on your health, your relationships, your ability to run your business, your confidence. It’s monumental.

This month is Menopause Month, I thought it would be perfect timing to have a chat with proud Peri-warrior Shelly Horton on to have a chat. Shelly is a journalist, TV presenter, keynote speaker, MC, she runs her own business - ShellShocked Media.

Shelly and I have a really open, honest discussion about the impact of perimenopause on her life and her ability to build her business, what prompted her to start sharing her experience and what has happened as a result of her sharing.

We also talk about what action needs to be taken in our workplaces and Shelly and her bestie Dr Ginni Mansberg have created Don't Sweat It, an online program about managing and supporting perimenopause and menopause in the workplace.

You can see from the episode duration that this is a long one but it is incredibly valuable as every woman will go through this.

Trigger warning: miscarriage, divorce, depression and suicidal thoughts.

I have supported many talented service providers over the last 6 years and a common struggle among most of these women is productising their expertise.

It’s one thing to deliver their brilliance in a 1:1 way but it’s something else developing their expert framework and building a product offering off the back of it. It’s not for everyone but it is an ideal way of positioning yourself as an industry expert or thought leader.

Today I am going to introduce you to one of my clients who has done just that while we have worked together.

Sharon Darmody is an organisational consultant and mediator, specialising in Workplace Health and Wellbeing. With more than 25 years experience, Sharon has seen what has worked and what hasn’t in our workplaces.

Sharon is using her voice to offer a new work order - one that focuses on employee wellbeing. Right now, work is not working so Sharon created her MAGIC framework to empower teams and individuals to create a roadmap out of this broken way of working and make work work again.

Sharon is a mum, wife and owner of a busy, thriving business and the most perfect woman to have as a client because she does the work. She is an information gatherer but she doesn’t just get that information - she takes action. She came to me with a goal that she had already committed to - to publish a book in 2023 - and that is exactly what is happening.

I have been very privileged to support Sharon and I really enjoyed our chat today where she not only shares her journey to creating her framework, building her personal brand and writing her book but she also gives us important insights into how we can thrive in our own workplaces.

Every year I set goals for myself and my business and one of my goals for 2022 was to secure my own office space. A space that was reflective of me and my business and the service that I provide to my clients.

In May, I achieved that goal and moved into my very own office.

In this episode, I share the story behind why I felt it was so important for me to do this and the surprising (and not so surprising) impact it has had on my business.

I talk about what it felt like to take the plunge and make this investment in my business, what it has done for my productivity and how it has made me feel about myself and the way I deliver my service to my clients.

When you hear the words “strong visual brand”, many people think of a gorgeous Instagram grid. But it’s so much more than that. It depicts your mission and values visually and is so important in attracting the right customers for your business.

You can have the most incredible service or product but it can be compromised by a sub-par visual brand.

My guest in this episode is Sandra Chau - a stylist and creative director who connects brands to their customers by elevating their imagery in new and exciting ways. She has directed and styled campaigns for luxury brands all over the world and is the founder of the School of Visual Branding where she teaches entrepreneurs how to grow their online brands and increase their profit using visual strategy.

Known and respected for her minimalist design aesthetic, Sandra takes a thoughtful and intentional approach to design. She believes that defined visual branding should awaken the very heart of your mission, value, and legacy as a brand, and is passionate about teaching and sharing this.

In our chat, Sandra shares great tips on standing out, keeping things simple and some absolute gold around preparing for photo shoots.

She also has a really beautiful recommendation to boost our businesses and lives at the end of our conversation so make sure you stick around to the end for that.

My guest is someone who has stepped out from behind big brands to creating a brand of her own. Natalie Coulson is a content marketer with a passion for personal branding. She helps small business owners promote themselves more confidently.

Starting out working for big brands, Natalie had to get used to being the brand and admits that this is not always easy. But as someone who has travelled this path personally - she knows exactly what it feels like, what works and what doesn’t so she is able to share this with her clients and she is sharing her insights with us today.

She talks about the importance of sharing our lived experiences and how that sets us apart, and really standing for something and not "being beige".

Nat learnt the hard way that people pleasing and burning the candle at both ends was not the ticket to success - it led to burn out for her and she speaks very openly about how she manages your mental health alongside her role as a business owner, parent and partner.

My guest today is celebrating 15 years in business… 15!!! When you consider how many businesses don’t even make it through the first year, this is absolutely something to be celebrated.

Felicity Zadro is the founder of Zadro Agency which is an integrated communications agency. In this interview, Felicity generously shares the highs and lows of her 15 years in business. The things she did at the beginning and at every stage of growth - what worked, and what didn’t.

She has worked hard to build up her business and has had incredible success, working with amazing clients and winning awards as well as dealt with some crushing lows including the decimation of her client base in the wake of covid.

Some of the secrets to Felicity’s longevity are consistency, not sweating the small stuff and fostering a strong team culture. She attracts rockstars and she lets them shine and is proof that it’s possible to build a great business with great people by your side.

I absolutely loved this chat and I know you will too.

I love a business origin story. I am fascinated about how they got to be doing what they are doing now and what prompted them to take that leap into running a business.

My guest in this episode has a very special story. Melissa Reader is the CEO at The Violet Initiative, a not-for-profit organisation, providing information and support to help us navigate the last stages of life, and the grief and loss that accompanies it. They focus on the needs of family members, caregivers and friends, so that they can be better prepared and supported to help those they love to die well.

It was the death of her husband that led Melissa to this important work. At the time, she lacked the necessary support to navigate such a tumultuous time. Her failing to adequately prepare led to much pain and a deep sense of regret and she wanted to prevent as many people as possible from feeling the way that she did. And this is what led her to this important work.

Now if you think that this episode is going to be depressing, please don’t. I wanted to shine a spotlight on this incredible organisation and the woman who runs it as well as provide you with valuable information on how you can care for yourself, your team members and your business while dealing with grief.

Starting a business has never been easier but keeping one going is a daily challenge.  But if it was easy everyone would be doing it, right?

It takes courage to show up day in and day out, most of the time without a clue what you are doing. The higher you climb, the more visible you are, the stakes feel higher. Feelings of inadequacy or incompetence take control.

You’ve felt it, haven’t you?

You second guess everything, start comparing yourself to others. That negative internal dialogue takes over. The wheels spin, panic sets in and this is often when you make some not-so-great decisions that feed this cycle of overwhelm. And the growth stops.

Now you might be feeling this right now and thinking that you are the only one - but you are not. It is perfectly common to question yourself.

Today I am sharing some tools you can use when uncertainty strikes - when you feel like you don’t know what the hell you are doing. And, yes, that may feel like most of the time!!! These are going to help stop the wheels from spinning and remind you just how ah-mazing you are.

Everyone’s version of success is different.

You may have come to the realisation that to grow your business, you can’t do everything yourself. But bringing people onboard does mean that you need to deal with the seemingly complex world of HR.

What are you so busy doing??

I have been consciously trying to avoid using the word “Busy” because, let’s face it, we are ALL busy and it’s BORING to talk about how busy we are all the time isn’t it??

Yet “busy” has become a default answer whenever we are asked “How are you?”

My guest in this episode is leadership coach Julie Hyde. Julie’s mission is for us to elevate our thinking around what keeps us “busy” and the importance of living and leading with intention.

Julie drops loads of gold in this conversation. My favourite quote of her’s was “we can’t lead others until you can lead yourself”. Boom!.

Julie also generously shares a personal story that illustrates exactly why it is so important for us to fill our time with meaningful, purposeful activities.

It can feel a little like the world of Facebook ads is a mystery. It’s an ever changing landscape and a source of frustration for many small business owners.

Today’s guest is Stacey Hughes - a digital ads expert and she is here to demystify the world of Facebook ads for us. Stacey helps small business owners boost brand awareness and attract more clients with attention-getting digital ads that deliver clicks, leads and ultimately, sales.

In this episode, Stacey shares some actionable advice that we can implement right away to start attracting new customers into our world.

Many of the women building their businesses that I speak to tell me they love the idea of providing a rock star experience to their clients, but fall short because they don’t have the time.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret - lots of those “personal” touches are not done by the service provider. Many elements of that supreme service are provided by their support team.

What could you imagine getting someone to help you with?

In this episode I share some ideas for parts of the customer experience you could outsource in your business.

As service providers, we want to ensure that our service is delivered in a way that has our clients coming back for more. We want them to feel like they have had the best experience possible and become our raving fans.

Too many business owners spend a great deal of time, money and energy on getting customers through the door but sadly don’t put as much effort into keeping them.

So today I am sharing some tips for how you can make sure your customer journey is truly representative of you and your business and where you could make some small changes to really elevate their experience.

This week’s guest is multi-award winning hairdresser and highly acclaimed national educator, Laura Macleod. Just over four years ago, Laura exited her successful, seven-figure business to pursue her true love - educating, mentoring and training salon owners and their teams.

Laura is a champion for her industry and is her clients’ biggest cheerleader.  With emphasis in the digital space on “building a community”, Laura has built hers without a digital platform. The secret ingredient? Providing exceptional service. She is heavily invested in her community and they love her for it. Seriously, their loyalty to her is akin to Tay Tay’s Swifties.

In our chat, we talked about the value and importance of service, how she supported her community through the horror show that has been the last 2 years, how important it is for the helpers to have helpers and much more.

As business owners, it is natural for us to look externally for examples of ways of doing things better or differently. If there is something new we want to do, we look for examples around us of people who are doing what we want to do.

When I have conversations with women around boundaries or getting support in their businesses, their blocks come from the fact that they don’t have those examples of what is possible.

Did you know there are people watching you right now that you don’t even know are watching you?

In today’s podcast, I talk about being the example. About showing the women around us that success doesn’t have to mean burnout, late nights and a strung-out version of you.

We can be the circuit breakers and show others that there is other, better, more sustainable ways to live our lives.

One of the qualities that I most admire in women who are at the top of their game is generosity.

Usually, I find it's the women who had to work really, really hard to get to where they are who tend to retain their generous spirit when they reach the top. It’s like they never forget where they came from, no matter how big their teams and their bank accounts become.

Today’s guest is one of those generous leaders.

Sharon Williams is CEO and founder of Taurus Marketing. She is an international marketer, PR strategist, speaker, entrepreneur and media commentator.

Sharon is passionate about empowering, educating, educating and inspiring others.

She created her mentoring program TaurusAcademy© for interns, graduates and members of her team. The support that she provides people through this program, even after they leave her employ, is next level.

I love sharing business success stories and I hope that you will be inspired by Sharon’s.

Today, I talk about the importance of scheduling in circuit breakers - making space to remove ourselves from our regular responsibilities and surroundings. How restorative this time is and how it inspires limitless, blue-sky thinking.

I have just returned from the most wonderful circuit breaker - my Business Retreat for One.

We get told as we are building our businesses that “those who market well win”. Sadly, there are way too many talented service providers struggling to grow their businesses as they are not born marketers.

My guest, Jane Hillsdon, is the founder of Dragonfly Marketing and The How To Do Marketing Academy.  She has supported hundreds of small business owners make good marketing decisions to ensure it delivers a healthy return on investment for their business.

My guest in this episode is a success by anyone’s standards.

Kate Toon is an award-winning entrepreneur, digital educator, straight-talking SEO and copywriting coach, author and podcaster, and a very entertaining and in-demand speaker. She has more than two decades of experience in all things advertising and content and her mission is to help other business humans create their own version of online success.

There were a tonne of things that Kate and I could have talked about - after all she is the Queen of SEO and Copywriting. But with the spirit of this podcast being about what it’s REALLY like to build a successful business, we both agreed to talk about being at the summit. The stories of the climb to get there and what happens when you reach the top.

Kate is a completely open book and speaks honestly about how she has built a successful business that has weathered many storms.

Hilarious and honest to the core, after listening to this conversation you are going to love Kate as much as I do.

My guest today is my client, Lorraine Murphy - serial entrepreneur, best selling author, speaker and mentor. We have worked together for more than 3 years now and she has been a big supporter of mine. She is someone who has given me so many of my “first” opportunities in my business - including being a podcast guest. Today I am turning the tables and interviewing her about her new book ‘Step Into You’.

The book - and this interview - couldn’t be more perfectly timed with a lot of us limping to the end of the year. If you are desperate to recharge, re-focus and stride into your best future, you are going to get SO much from my chat with Lorraine (and from her new book).

We cover purpose, energy management, masculine & feminine energy and Lorraine shares insights from her own life and those of the women in her world. She knows (and shows us) that it is possible to make epic, lasting changes - whatever your situation or life stage.

We also talk about how she managed to write her 4th book while caring for a newborn baby and she shares some great tips for aspiring writers.

And we share our mutual most-fave book of the moment - The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks

If you are not already familiar with Lorraine’s work, you can find out more about her here

With the end of the year upon us, most of the women I’m talking to at the moment are completely exhausted. I have been mopping up the tears of many overwhelmed women who are limping to the finish line.

When we are in a state of overwhelm, it is really hard to figure out what the next right thing to do is.

In today’s episode, I am going to share some tools with you to use if you are feeling End-of-Year Overwhelm.

I will show you how to triage what is truly important, simplify the rest, reduce decision fatigue and tap into the things that bring you joy at, what should be, a wonderful time of year.

You may have heard the quote “When you are tired, learn to rest - not quit”. It’s almost time to rest. The tips I share in this episode will help you get there.

I talk a lot about the importance of accountability as a business owner. You can only go so far on your own and having that outside perspective and support is a sure-fire way to help you level-up and grow your business.

All successful entrepreneurs are coached in some way - but choosing the right business coach can be quite a minefield. There are so many service providers out there offering the world so in today’s episode I am helping you cut-through the noise by sharing my tips on how to choose the right coach for you.

A good coach is worth their weight in gold and I am yet to meet anyone whose business hasn’t been better off with the right support in their business.

One of the best business growth strategies for me has been being a guest on other peoples’ podcasts. 9/10 times when I ask people how they found me, they say it is because they heard me speak on a podcast or event.

Podcasts have exploded here in Australia but a lot of people don’t know how to approach a host about being a guest. What makes a good guest? How can I add the most value?

This week’s guest is Christina Lenkowski - a podcast pitch pro.  She loves helping underrepresented speakers and authors step into the spotlight by being a guest on other people’s podcasts. I have brought her on today to share her wisdom so that you can feel comfortable being a podcast guest.

Podcasts are a great way for people to get to know, like and trust you without having met you. This has been the case in my experience and I hope after today’s episode you feel ready to  step out of your comfort zone and give it a try.

In this episode of ‘Your Business Boost’ podcast I sit down with financial expert, best-selling author and speaker, Mel Browne.

Mel and I have both seen first hand the pain that comes from not having your business finances in order. Mel acknowledges that there are so many reasons for this and she is here to change the narrative for women in business.

‘Most women are passion focused and find dealing with money uncomfortable. The money stories they hold for themselves also have a part to play. We may not realise we are carrying these money stories but, they are absolutely unconsciously keeping our business’ small.’

‘If you want a sustainable business it needs to be able to pay you’ says Mel.

Mel shares her top tips for becoming financially empowered and what incredible results you can achieve just by understanding your numbers.

She also shares her own business journey as an ‘accidental entrepreneur’ and we talk about the vital part that Mel’s ‘work-wife’ Lawsie has played in her story.

Mel is the author of four books; More Money for Shoes, Fabulous but Broke, the global best-seller Unf*ck your Finances and my most recent, Budgets Don't Work (But This Does).   She has some amazing resources for you which can be found at:  https://www.melissabrowne.com.au/yourbusinessboost

We can’t be what we can’t see and as business owners we are constantly on the lookout for women who have walked a path before us. What is it really like to build a long-term, sustainable business?

My guest today is Jen Dugard has done just that. She has been in business for more than 13 years and over this time her business has evolved enormously - from being a trainer to training other fitness professionals to build and scale businesses that align with their values.

Jen has done some things that many business owners have on the bucket list including that shift away from trading time for dollars, international expansion, and productising her offering to becoming a known brand.

This is a really honest chat about how all of those things came to be and it is going to show you just how much your business can (and should) evolve over its lifetime.
