Try breathwork free: https://www.brendawinkle.com/breathe In this podcast episode, Brenda and Karen Calde have a conversation about relationships, therapy, coaching, and personal growth. Karen is a former therapist and current relationship coach, specializing in helping women struggling in their romantic relationships. Karen discusses her transition from therapy to coaching and the focus of her podcast, "Love is Us," which explores various aspects of relationships.
They talk about the difference between therapy and coaching, and the importance of discernment when seeking help. They talked about the possibility of seeing both a therapist and a coach concurrently. The conversation then shifts to relationships, with Karen sharing advice on healthy relationship habits and applying them to dating. They also touch on the topic of sexual desire and communication in relationships.
Here are the takeaways... 1. The difference between coaching and therapy is the needs of the client. Therapy is for those in crisis, while coaching is for those looking to improve their lives. 2. Personal growth and self-love are very important in relationships. Many relationships can improve simply by increasing your personal growth and self-love. 3. Power differentials in relationships can be a source of problems in a relationship. When one partner has control over the money, the time or decisions that are made it's a sign of a problem in the relationship. Couples therapy in this situation is never recommended in these situations. Instead, consult a resource such as The Hotline. (Be mindful that browsing history can be traced to do this with intention) https://www.thehotline.org/ 4. The best relationships happen when there is a conscious awareness of our own self-responsibility, showing compassion for each other, paying attention to each other and coming together when one of you reaches out. There is fondness and admiration, both are good at expressing gratitude and spend time together. 5. The concept of spontaneous desire vs responsive desire in sexual desire in long term relationships is a great thing to think about. Sometimes we equating spontaneous desire with a genuine interest in relationships, and we might not give responsive desire the credit it deserves. 6. Clarity, communication and spending time together are the three most impactful things you can do for healthy relationships.

Try breathwork free: https://www.brendawinkle.com/breathe This episode features Deb Rubin in a conversation about the significance of connection and the obstacles that can hinder it. Brenda and Deb discuss fear as a barrier to connection and the need to let go of outdated survival skills. They explore the challenges of self-inquiry and the importance of self-compassion and practice. Brenda and Deb discuss the importance of validation and being seen and understood. They also touch on topics such as conflict, individuation, and making friends as adults. The conversation concludes with gratitude and appreciation for each other's insights and inspirations.
Here are the takeaways... 1. Connection and meaningful conversations are the ultimate nervous system regulator 2. Fear blocks the connection. Fear of not being heard, fear of being judged or misunderstood. Fear puts up a layer around us that won't allow us to be present, listen and allow ourselves to be seen. 3. Outdated survival skills hindering personal growth. These are old coping skills. The brain doesn't know the difference between real threat and perceived threat. The skills may have been necessary in earlier life but are no longer useful. 4. Deepening the connection with oneself and others is possible only when we feel safe. If our nervous system is dysregulated or activated (in fear, stress, fight/flight), making connection might feel really difficult. 5. Conflict is a necessary part of relationships. Conflict is essentially disagreeing. It doesn't have to be violent (and shouldn't be) but deepens relationships. 6. The dance between individuation and society is an essential part of growing up. Our culture emphasizes blending (staying connected in social media) over individuation. What we want to do as parents is emphasize and celebrate our children's uniqueness. This is a new place for us as a society. 7. The more authentic you are, the more able you are to connect with others.
About Deb Deb Rubin a huge passion for self-discovery and growth, and love nothing more than helping others evolve in their own unique ways. As a therapist of over 20 years, She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has worked in numerous therapeutic job settings, as well as sexual health education - consciously blending the best of both Eastern and Western theories into her practice. Her experience includes working with both young adults and adults in multiple facets of life, including relationships, self-esteem, sexuality, life transitions, attachment styles, parenting, anxiety, and depression, preparing for motherhood, grief and loss, and trauma work. She's had the awesome opportunity to work with people in a wide variety of settings, including Colorado Outward Bound School and Women’s Wilderness Institute, Planned Parenthood, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital, and Colorado University’s Psychological and Psychiatry Department. She eventually landed into her own private therapeutic practice in 2006. In 2017, I eagerly expanded my practice to include parent coaching and group facilitation through The Mother Daughter Journey (MDJ.) She lives in Boulder, Colorado with my husband and two daughters.

In this podcast episode, Brenda interviews Tanmeet Sethi who shares her journey from being an activist and integrative physician to becoming an integrative and psychedelic medicine physician. They discuss the importance of joy, embodiment, and reclaiming cultural wisdom in mental wellness. Tanmeet talks about her recently released book, "Joy is My Justice," which explores how joy is accessible to all.
Tanmeet and Brenda also touch on topics such as micro-dosing psychedelics, serving marginalized communities, plant-based diets, mental health coaching, and the importance of gratitude and movement in daily routines. The conversation emphasizes the power of finding joy and purpose in the face of suffering and oppression, as well as promoting equity and anti-racism.
About Tanmeet Sethi
Tanmeet is a board-certified Integrative Family Medicine physician and Clinical
Associate Professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She has
spent the past 25 years working on the frontlines of the most marginalized
communities, as well as globally with victims of school shootings, survivors of
hurricanes, citizens impacted by police violence, and psychologists in Ukraine
under attack. Tanmeet has created entire Integrative medicine programs from
the ground up, including the first-ever fellowship in Washington state. Her
expertise is widely recognized in both local and national work which includes
leading programs on healing from trauma, thought-provoking presentations (to
both medical and non-medical organizations), and multiple articles and
textbook chapters on Integrative Medicine.
Here are the takeaways... 1. Joy, embodiment, and reclaiming cultural wisdom are essential components of mental wellness. Tanmeet emphasizes the importance of finding joy in everyday life and reconnecting with our bodies. Tanmeet also emphasizes the significance of cultural wisdom, recognizing that different cultures have valuable insights and practices that can contribute to mental well-being. 2. As an expert in psychedelic medicine, Tanmeet is well-versed in the safety considerations of microdosing psychedelics. She emphasizes the importance of responsible and informed use, highlighting the need for proper dosing, set, and setting. Tanmeet also advocates for working with trained professionals to ensure a safe and supportive experience. 3. Tanmeet encourages ethical considerations when it comes to plant-based diets and meat consumption. She believes in the importance of mindful eating and making choices that align with our values and the well-being of animals and the environment. Tanmeet advocates for a balanced approach, recognizing that individual dietary needs and cultural practices may vary. 4. There are concerns about the coaching industry. Coaching can be valuable but make sure your coaches have a solid foundation in what issues are actually mental health concerns and need to be referred out to a mental health provider, and that coaches are equipped to address the complex needs of their clients. Anti-racism training is crucial for coaches to create inclusive and equitable spaces for their clients. 5. By finding joy and purpose, you can create positive change and contribute to a more equitable and just society. 6. It's worth being intentional in amplifying marginalized voices and actively engaging in conversations about systemic racism and social justice. Collective action, no matter how small, can have a profound impact on creating a more inclusive and equitable world.

Her recently released book, The Call To Freedom: Heal your Pain, Awaken your Loving Presence, is an Internationally Acclaimed memoir filled with personal, spiritual, and embodiment coaching for anyone that is ready to answer “The Call”.
Here are the takeaways... 1. Play is vitally important and when you incorporate it into your life everything feels easier. 2. We are all the Golden Buddha. We all have essential golden essence but we sometimes forget because of our human experiences and programming from our experiences and the people around us. 3. We are told pain is something that we should avoid. It can be a coping mechanism to avoid feeling pain. But when we face our pain, we become a part of the healing of the entire planet. Healing heals forward. When we individually heal we help heal the divisiveness of the planet. We become whole when we can integrate all the parts of ourselves into the whole being through somatic healing. 4. When you are chasing tomorrows as in "I'll be happy when...." you will always receive the thing you want - tomorrow. The work is to be happy now. 5. When you are unwilling to feel your pain, you become unable to feel the blissful emotions. Science tells us that even the toughest emotions last about 90 seconds. When we can label the sensation, the sensation can shift. Acknowledging sensations and emotionality is a way to shift your perceptions. Slowing down is an essential component of this practice. 6. When you avoid pain, you are inadvertently avoiding pleasure. Pleasure is right on the other side of your pain. 7. The best way to find a life you really love is to love the life you have right now. Stop chasing your dreams because that means they are running away from you. Instead, consider living your dreams right now. 8. You are enough.

Lucia Oliveira is a sleep coach and breathwork facilitator who has a passion for helping moms find their wellbeing while navigating motherhood. With years of experience in studying and researching the importance of sleep and breathwork, Lucia has helped numerous moms improve their family's sleep and reduce stress through breathwork techniques.
As a mother herself, Lucia understands the challenges that come with balancing the demands of motherhood and personal well-being. With a holistic and personalized approach, she is dedicated to supporting other moms on their wellness journey by providing tailored sleep coaching and breathwork guidance. Her focus is on promoting sustainable habits and long-term health so that her clients can enjoy a happier, healthier life for themselves and their families.
Whether you're a new mom struggling to get enough sleep or a seasoned parent looking to prioritize self-care, Lucia is here to help. With her expertise in sleep and breathwork, she can help you achieve your wellness goals and create a more balanced and fulfilling life.
Here are the takeaways... 1. Babies and kids feel your emotions including your stress. If you feel overwhelmed, so will your child. The better you take care of yourself as a mom, the more you can respond to your child in a positive and effective way. Taking the time to regulate how you feel is the least selfish thing you can do as a mom. 2. Breathwork - even simple breath awareness paying attention to your breath - can be very helpful. Just the awareness itself can allow you to calm down, get present, and reduce the stress in your body. It shifts your energy almost immediately. The vibration of your voice with an aw or a sigh can help relax you a little more. 3. If you are feeling overwhelmed, sleep deprived, sad, depressed or stressed... its ok to ask for help. In fact, it's vitally important. You don't have to do this alone. 4. Boundaries and consistency are an essential part of developing good sleep habits for your child. Sleep isn't linear in children, and some milestones may cause sleep regressions. But developing consistency and creating a predictable sleep routine will help support you and your child in creating good sleep habits. 5. Setting a sleep foundation at an early age is ideal. It's never too late to begin to set those foundations. Consistency is key. And following through on the boundaries you've set is vitally important. 6. Follow through on boundaries might look like staying consistent in how you respond to your child. Lucia's example was a child that comes into your room in the middle of the night. Being consistent in how you respond will be very important in developing a successful routine. There isn't a right way... if you enjoy your child climbing into bed, that's fine. But if you want something different, being consistent is a key to your success. 7. The OK to wake up clock by Hatch is the clock Lucia mentioned. Here is a link to find that. (This is an affiliate link. I may receive financial compensation as a result of your purchase) The better your child sleeps, the better everyone in the family will sleep. 8. For older children, have conversation and communication around what your expectations are. Toddlers and preschoolers are developmentally able to have these conversations. Give them choices like what pajamas to wear, or what color the ok to wake up clock is. Be consistent and create a routine. Know that it might take 3 weeks to implement a new routine. Nothing will change until or unless you implement things to change. 9. When parents take turns at bedtime, be sure you are on the same page with your co-parent. Be intentional about sending the same message. You don't have to do things exactly the same way as the other parent, but the overall message and response to the children needs to be the same regardless of who is putting the kids to bed. 10. Our kids need to feel the range of emotions. One way we can support our children is to help them understand that hearing "no" is a part of life and that the no's lead to Yes's. It is stressful to have our children be upset at us, but it's important for them to learn how to hear a no so they don't become boundary violators if they have never heard or been asked to respect a "no".

There are a lot of reasons people hold themselves back from what they really want. Sometimes we know we do this, and sometimes we don't. This episode will discuss the indicators you might be holding yourself back from what you really want along with how to shift this.
Here are the takeaways.... 1. There are several reasons you might be holding yourself back from what you really want: Fear of failure, Fear of success, Fear of what other people will say or think, Fear you can’t handle it, Fear of having to change if you get what you want, Fear of relationships shifting if you get what you want 2. Signs you might be holding yourself back from what you want include: complaining, spending time doing things that don’t move the needle (dusting off product, revamping your website for the third time), numbing, blaming others for your situation or circumstances 3. Breathwork or other somatic healing is a way to heal 4. Tapping into your intuition and inner wisdom can be very supportive in determining what to do next 5. Make feeling good your number-one priority 6. There are five things I've discovered from this 1. We think we stay safe by NOT following our intuitive nudges, the repeating thoughts. 2. We make excuses and tell ourselves stories about why this isn’t the right time or place 3. We keep delaying joy because we tell ourselves it’s easier that way.. But is it??? 4. We think that what other people say or think matters but the truth is - the people who love us most want us to be happy and the minute they see us happy, they start to put down their resistance 5. You INCREASE your productivity, creativity, abundance and intuition when you tap into and allow joy
The ONLY thing that really matters is that you prioritize feeling good. Do what lights you up, brings you joy, and feels fun. It might not seem like it matters to the other things in your life because it’s not related to them…. But energy has no walls. If you are happy and joyful (energy-rich) it transfers to EVERY area in your life. You become the magnet for everything you desire simply because you are feeling good,
You are someone who values relationships. Values integrity and wants to be of service to the world. The most impactful way you can increase your capacity to serve if by tending to your own alignment and prioritizing the things that make you feel good.

Personal branding coach, best-selling author, and chart-topping podcast host Julie Solomon has been empowering lives for over fifteen years through her in-demand classes and masterminds.
With a background in public relations for some of the world’s most influential music acts and thought leaders, Julie launched her online courses and coaching Mastermind in 2016, mentoring thousands of leaders and creatives around the world. Her passion is helping women turn messages into movements and empowering entrepreneurs and creatives to successfully build, grow, and scale their businesses. Recently named one of the Top 100 Leaders in influencer marketing, Julie and her work has been featured in Forbes, Entrepreneur, Business Weekly, Business Insider, SUCCESS, and People, among others.
She is the author of the bestselling book, Get What You Want: How to Go From Unseen to Unstoppable.
Here are the takeaways... 1. When we hit a rock bottom, the hard truths are revealed. It's in those moments we get to decide if we want to set ourselves free or not. Julie says, "If you know someone headed to a rock bottom moment, get out of the way." Some of those moments where we realize there's no one coming to save us are the moments we accept and embrace our own personal responsibility and accountability. The day you take responsibility for your life is the day your life really starts. 2. We can't heal ourselves from anything until we understand what it means to nurture ourselves. This will look different for everyone. Get the support you need whether that means coaches, therapists, books, or mediations. It's likely a lifelong journey. 3. Your self-concept is what is behind your upper limits. This can be in relationship to your identity, your finances, your success, etc. You can raise your self-confidence by giving yourself compassion, allowing yourself to take risks, being creative and being flexible. Create goals that are a reach but are also achievable. 4. You don't need a massive reason why you want what you want. It's ok to simply want it. Massive expansion can be the result of being self-compassionate with yourself. Using affirmations can be very supportive as you create the internal changes you are seeking. Remember Julie's story about the plants... what you think and say to yourself matters. 5. Ask yourself, "Wouldn't it be great it...." and then ask yourself, 'What would it take?" 6. Balancing our feminine energy with our masculine energy can help us be more whole. Feminine energy is the being, receptivity, creativity and "the woo". Masculine energy is the action, the doing, and the strategy. This balance can be approached emotionally and externally. 7. It's important to remember that getting what we want is a choice. We do get to choose the beliefs that we have as adults. If we are aware enough of our beliefs and thoughts we can make different choices. Possibility is where the light is. 8. Some people don't get what they want in life You get to decide if you are "some people". There is so much power in possibility and choice in choosing what you choose to focus on. 9. There will never be a lack of ideas. It can create complexity because we are complex. To expand it's important to simplify, focus down on 1-2 primary things and the rest go into a "holding tank". This will help you to expand a lot faster. It will help you get clear on what is working for you. 10. It's all courage.

Caitlin Nochajski is certified as a Mind Rebel Coach and also holds two Master's Degrees in Social Work and Business Administration from the University at Buffalo. She is a unique voice in the Social Enterprise world and feels passionately that when we create businesses where both profit and social impact are maximized, we change the world. Caitlin lives in Winston Salem, North Carolina with her high school sweetheart and their three uniquely wonderful children. Caitlin's core values are connection, space, vitality, justice, and truth. She loves helping women see their potential, spending time with her people, walking in nature, and cozy moments with coffee and a warm blanket.
Caitlin is the co-host of The Not Tonight Project, which Brenda's guested on. You can listen to that episode here.
Here are the takeaways... 1. The gendered messages that men and women receive as children are very different. Those identifying as boys/men are told that "the world is your oyster and you can do anything". Those identifying as girls/women are told to "stay in your lane, don't be too much, don't be too loud". The story you believe has a huge impact on how you perceive your ability to lead and what you are capable of. It's time to change the messaging so that we ALL know that we have the ability to accomplish great things. 2. The impact of gendered messaging around what one can do shows up as early as third grade. Those identifying as girls stop raising their hands as often, stop using their voices in the classroom at the same rate as those identifying as boys. There isn't one reason for this, there are many reasons. 3. This impacts our society in measurable ways. For example, the United States has still never had a woman president. The pay gap remains at $.70 - .80 on the dollar for women compared to men. 95% of Fortune 500 CEOs are men and 98% of venture capital funds go to men according to a 2022 statistic. 4. Venture capitalism includes people who invest in new ventures or new businesses. It's funding to get things off of the ground. Funds are provided in exchange for a percentage of interest in the company, co-ownership, or repayment over time. Because 98% of venture capital funds go to men, this becomes another glass ceiling for women. In a nutshell, venture capital reduces the risk. It increases the ability to become an entrepreneur and make your own fortune. 5. Empowering women empowers us all. When women come into their own power and wealth, they lift up other people. Bringing women together results in a collective rise. 6. "Try harder and you can overcome" is a lie that the patriarchy tells us. There is a cognitive load that is often not given credit in our distributed work roles. It's important to also give ourselves credit for the things that don't end up in your day planner like dressing kids or planning meals. There are things that take time, energy and bandwidth that we are often not given credit for - either by ourselves or by our partners, families, or colleagues. 7. Waking up to the culture that you live in and the things that influence you is important. You are enough today, just as you are. You are whole, resourceful, and creative - and so is everyone else. There is nothing wrong with you if you rest. 8. Check-in with yourself daily and hourly, and honor what you need right now. Trust and nurture yourself. Give yourself what you need. Everything in your life will improve when you do this. 9. Women aren't taught to consider their own needs or desires as sexual beings. Many women are taught that sexuality is a need for men, and that the woman's role is to fill that need. Sex is connection and should be a way for two people to connect in a way to connect mutually. 10. Your sexual satisfaction can improve significantly when you reframe the end goal as orgasm and penetrative sex, and put the focus on communicating and mutuality. When the focus is moved from the goal of penetrative sex and orgasm to connection, the end result might become more penetrative sex and more orgasms.

About Contact
Mary Campbell had what she called a pipe dream of living in Europe. She recently turned that pipe dream into a reality and is now living as a permanent resident in Portugal. You'll hear how she did it and how she feels about it... (FREAKING AWESOME!) and with so much more.
Mary and I met in the public schools where I worked as a music teacher and Mary worked as a school psychologist.
Mary grew up in the Pacific Northwest, joined the USAF right out of high school, and served as a German cryptologic linguist (listened to East German Air Force radio transmissions & analyzed them for intelligence). After her enlistment, she got my grad & undergrad degrees at UC Davis in psychology/school psychology & worked in public schools in CA and ID for 30+ years. Most of that time was as a school psych, but she took a brief foray into administration and served as a building principal at the middle school level.
Mary has worked with children from preschool through high school. She retired in July 2020, a little earlier than she had originally planned (a Covid-inspired decision), and decided to move to Portugal in Spring 2021. She arrived in Lisbon in April 2022, after selling her home, and applying for a long-term residence visa. She has two grown sons (ages 40 and 34) who still live in the Boise area, as does their father, her former husband.
Here are the takeaways... 1. Hearing limiting things like "I don't know about a single woman her age....(fill in the blank)" can feel limiting until you realize, you'll be a woman your age ANYWHERE. You might as well be where you want to be. 2. Intentional connections can be made through meet-up groups like meetup.com, Facebook groups, and buy-nothing groups. Looking for shared interests. It can be an easy way to make friends. 3. You don't have to know the language of a country as long as you are willing to learn the language. 4. Recognizing the circumstances of international moves is really important. There is a difference between being an immigrant and a refugee. 5. International moves are going to take time. Have patience, be polite, be persistent and recognize you might not understand everything. You'll need to ask questions and be patient. 6. Decisions terminate panic. 7. Living your best life empowers other people to live their best lives.
Mary doesn't do a lot on social media but I'll be sure to pass on anything to her. Just DM me on Instagram or email me.

You aren't broken and you don't need fixing. In this episode, we take a deep dive into that and through that.... from alongside the seashore with the waves of the ocean crashing in the distance. The sense of feeling alone, wondering if you are the only one feeling the way you are feeling is one that most of us share. You aren't broken. You don't need fixing.
That feeling you have isn't you being broken... its a cry for healing. For being held.
Here's what I know for sure. What you want wants you. Sometimes the things you want most are also the things that scare you the most. That's called resistance.
Resistance feels like you want to run, or hide, or fight. It's your nervous system saying, "it's too scary!". You can sit with that feeling and ask it what it's there to teach you.

Setting intentions is a way to bring things into your existence that you really desire. It's a proactive approach to living the life you want and a way to choose the program you want to have running in your mind. Katrina Wu is certified as a mindset coach, a breathwork facilitator, and a hypnosis, EFT, and NLP practitioner. Her passion is to enlighten, inspire, and empower working women on a deep, subconscious level so they can move from overwhelm and self-doubt to balance and confidence. Her clients transform their lives and find the clarity to make their dreams a reality.
Here are the takeaways... 1. Thoughts become things. Not every thought of course... but thoughts that we have over and over that we continue to think show up in our reality. 2. Take time in meditation to find clarity around what you deeply desire, and then take the next step. 3. When you find healing for past hurts and traumas, you can release the resistance that you have that might be getting in the way of your desires. Resistance comes up when you have a belief that contradicts what you want. For example, if you think having more money will make you a bad person, why would you have more money? 4. Subconscious programming can be shifted into beliefs that support you and what you desire 5. Everything starts with an intention. The things you think are impossible become possible when you allow yourself to dream. Allow yourself to get into the feeling states that you want without worrying about the how. 6. When you ignore your intuition, it gets quieter. By listening to your intuition it gets clearer and clearer. Your intuition might be talking through your body, so pay attention to how you are feeling in your body. Get still and quiet enough to listen to the nudge. 7. People-pleasing has a negative impact on your body. 8. You always have the choice to choose how you perceive things. It's all in your perspective and in what you are willing to see... the moment sitting in peace at the ocean can be just as beautiful as the moment with the kids in the living room. 9. Shifting how you see things and your mindset can be the difference between feeling content/happy or miserable. We have the choice of how we want to look at things and perceive things. We have a choice to change the programming. 10. Why would you choose to feel bad if feeling good is an option?

Two Free Gifts from KJ 1. Sound Mandalas to Soothe & Still
Here are the takeaways... 1. It's very easy for us to absorb messages both encouraging and discouraging. Those messages can become deeply embedded like “Don’t be too much, don’t draw too much attention to yourself”. One message we often get might be that it’s ok for you to express but not too much… and only to a point. You get to challenge this. 2. Healers need healing, too. 3. Sacrificing your own well-being means you can’t help your community and your world. 4. You are often taught to stay under the radar and not stand out, perhaps you’ll be safer and less likely to be passed along. To blend in and not stand out so you won’t be excommunicated. Working through this fear begins with asking yourself “what feels true for me right now?” Acknowledge what you feel emotionally or physically and insert a pause. 5. By telling someone “you’re ok” you are not holding space for their experience. By ASKING if someone is ok, you give them agency. 6. When you are emotionally charged, you might only be able to feel one thing: how you are responding or how you are affected. By asking disruptive questions it can help take you out of the momentum or tunnel vision. In KJ’s example, she asked about the color of yellow. My example was a way to flip the switch to find joy. 7. We already know what to do. We just need to remember. 8. We sometimes fear abandonment so we abandon ourselves first. Sometimes we cut things off of ourselves, and contort ourselves so that we don’t risk other people leaving us first. But when we show up unapologetically… we are more authentic. It reduces our mental load. 9. The more authentically we show up, the more loved we feel.

This mini-sode is taken from an Instagram Live on friendship. I had come home to an empty house - no human, no dog, only the plants after a trip. I was so lonely. It got me thinking about friendship. A friend recommended listening to Mel Robbins' podcast on friendship, and I did. It reminded me, this isn't the first time I've thought about friendship... I wrote about it in my book "EmpowerHer" published in November 2020. So here you go!! Let's talk about friends.

Telling the difference between an intuitive hit and a fearful thought or a repeating thought that might have been planted by someone else can be simpler than you think... but it might require re-acquainting yourself with your inner knowing. And learning to trust yourself.
Here are the takeaways... 1. We all have intuition and an inner knowing. 2. You are taught that you can't rely on your intuition because "they" know best. You can learn to trust your intuition. 3. Getting in touch with your body can help open the channel to your inner knowing. 4. Reiki is a form of Japanese energy healing that promotes your body's relaxation response that allows healing in the body to occur. 5. Reiki can help you tune into your own intuition. 6. Learning to protect your own energy through Reiki can help highly empathic people stop taking on the energy and emotions of other people. 7. Taking on the energy and emotions of people around you is a choice, you can choose to remain aware of other people's emotions and not take it on. 8. Bubble up your own energetic field by zipping up your energy. 9. Pay attention to the physical sensations of your body. Ask any pain if it's yours and what it's there to tell you. 10. Reiki can help you access healing and your own intuition.

How to feel safe Mandi Pratt wasn’t looking to be a badass. She just wanted to be safe: to be sure my son and I would be ok.
She wanted to know how, as a woman, to be smarter not necessarily stronger than any bad guy or her former husband, a bank robber and fugitive wanted by the FBI. She felt out of control. Full of worry. She was alone and overwhelmed.
After enough worry and frustration she finally found a mentor to teach me how to get past all the noise and simply defend myself. Now she is her own bodyguard and she other women of all ages how to do the same.
Here are the takeaways… 1. Strong mental and emotional boundaries in early life lead to healthier relationships in adulthood 2. All abuse is abuse, there isn’t a hierarchy of “good abuse” or “bad abuse”. All abuse is problematic. 3. Emotional abuse can be sneaky. You may not see it but you will feel it in small ways with an impulse to “fix yourself” or “just need to do it right”, or “if I was just better” or it may come from some other person. 4. Abusers are manipulative. If someone you know says there’s a problem, there’s a problem. Do not justify abuse. 5. You are your own hero and do not have to wait for someone to give you permission. 6. Everyone deserves to live in peace 7. Ask yourself how it feels to be treated the ways you are treated. If it's good, great. If it doesn't feel good, ask yourself if that's what you want to be normal and seen as normal by your children. 8. Every woman should know how to keep herself safe both physically and emotionally. It's important to educate yourself. 9. If something bad happens to you, it doesn't mean you are a bad person or have done anything wrong. It is not your fault. Give yourself compassion. 10. Trust yourself. If something feels good, do more of it. If it doesn't feel good, walk away. 11. If you aren't comfortable with something, say you aren't comfortable. 12. Saying a loud "No!" is a self defense mechanism. You can use your hand, extend your arm and make a "stop motion" to add even more power.

Coty Raven Morris Coty and I met at an ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) conference and immediately connected. We both were new to the Portland area, but that wasn't why we connected - I'm not sure either of us realized we both lived in Portland when we met in Spokane, Washington. We've become good friends and this episode is two friends having a conversation over lunch (actually it was before lunch).
Now, we both serve on the Northwest Region of ACDA board together and we have so much to talk about!! Friendship, choral music, balance, building healthy relationships, personal responsibility and social justice are the themes of this episode.
About Coty Raven Morris Coty Raven Morris is a proud alumnus of Texas State University- San Marcos where she studied with Drs. Lynn Brinckmeyer, Jonathan Bacock, and Joey Martin. She received her Masters of Music in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University in the Spring of 2020 under Drs. David Rayl, Jonathan Reed, and Sandra Snow.
She is currently the Visiting Assistant Professor of Choir, Music Education, and Social Justice at Portland State University. Prior to this, she was the Director of Choirs at Crosby High School in the Houston area and has served as the Outreach Choir Director at the MSU Community Music School and Music Director at Grand Ledge United Methodist Church. Her choirs received consistent Sweepstakes & Division I ratings at UIL and choral festivals.
Morris was the recipient of the Hays CISD Linebarger Academic Recognition Award for 2013 & Galena Park ISD's Dazzling Diamond Award in 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018 for outstanding mentorship and leadership in her field. She is the Northwest Choral representative for the National Association for Music Education as well as the Community Choir Chair for the Northwest region of the American Choral Directors Association.
A newly published author and composer, Morris is a sought-after clinician and speaker across the country. She has recently served as the Clinician and Headliner for Florida ACDA, Washington MEA, and Minnesota ACDA as well as the Keynote speaker for the city of Lake Oswego’s Juneteenth festival.
Her future engagements include the Alaska All-State Treble Choir and the Oregon Middle School Tenor Bass Choir. Morris has been a choir member of the South Texas Vocal Artists and Mirabai and has devoted over a decade of summers to working as a camp director at the Texas State, Northeastern and Lamar University summer camps.
Coty Raven Morris the Founder of Being Human Together, a budding community rooted in music education striving to normalize difficult topics in our field through conversation and connection. BHT seeks to discuss traditionally taboo topics like mental health, systemic oppression, diversity, and inclusivity.
Here are the takeaways 1. Intentional relationships lead to authentic relationships that can expand, grow and evolve together 2. If you are in relationship with someone who isn't growing and evolving - or if you aren't growing and evolving - the distance between you will continue to grow 3. We can be a toxin to ourselves by maintaining relationships that no longer serve us whether that's a job, a friendship or a romantic relationship 4. Delayed obedience is disobedience. What you don't correct, you give permission to 5. Lean into dissonance - there is beauty there 6. Trust your gut. If you won't listen to your own compass, it's difficult to trust yourself in a relationship 7. Compromise can be a form of assimiliation. Be careful what you compromise on. 8. Guilt is the body's way of asking for a time out 9. Choir and arts give you community of people who look out for you 10. Don't leave DEI efforts for someone else. Get involved. And do not expect people to advocate for themselves. It takes all of us. 11. Social injustice occurs when boundaries are violated. If someone asks you to or to not do something, listen. 12. Homelessness / houselessness doesn't look a certain way 13. Arts has always and will continue to save humanity 14. It is your responsibility to set aside time to be creative so that you have the freedom to create

Ashleigh Renard Asheigh Renard and I are in a mastermind together and let me tell you, this girl is on fire!!!
This episode contains adult themes and adult language.
A former figure skating coach and choreographer, Ashleigh took the quest for perfection into marriage and motherhood, with some disastrous and hilarious results. Through her books and her viral Keeping it Hot video series, she's built a committed mass-following who tune in daily for her fresh, no-fuss advice on everything from keeping monogamy hot, to renegotiating a marriage, to getting kids to clean the house (because nothing makes her prouder than child labor).
Here are the takeaways 1. It is not necessary to fuel someone's excitement. Just be willing to witness it. 2. Being spiritual doesn't mean you have to lose your personality. The more spiritual you become, the more you peel back the layers of who you are. 3. "Performing" a relationship is like building a sand castle too close to the water. It becomes a full time job. 4. Give yourself what you need. Consider writing love letters to yourself saying what you most need to hear. 5. Hot sex is really about feelings. It's the bi-product of healthy communication and vulnerability. 6. Your body can't trust you with more than you can be trusted with. To start, use the bathroom when you have to go.

Healing Through Music with Sydney Guillaume Sydney Guillaume is a good friend of mine so this episode sounds more like a conversation between friends than an interview... because that's what it is.
Sydney leads by example
Praised by the Miami Herald for their “impressive maturity and striking melodic distinction”, Sydney Guillaume’s compositions are known to be intricate, challenging, and yet highly spirited. They promote human values and are full of heart and passion. His compositions continually enthrall choirs everywhere and have been performed around the world. They have been featured at numerous conferences and international festivals like the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), the World Choir Games, and Ireland’s Cork International Choral Festival. . Guillaume also writes film music – he has written original film and documentary scores for the Los Angeles based company Loyola Productions.
Originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Sydney Guillaume is currently residing in Portland, Oregon working as a full-time composer, and conductor and frequently doing workshops on his music with university and high school choirs throughout North America. Since 2013 he has been the conductor of Imbroglio Sextet, a group of musicians from Haiti, Spain, Bolivia, and the United States. In 2017, he was honored by the top music school in Haiti for his “great contribution in the expansion and the promotion of the music and culture of Haiti around the world.”
His recent activities as conductor include the 2022 Georgia All-State Senior Treble Choir, the 2019 Florida All-State Middle School Treble Chorus, the 34th annual Idaho State University Choral Invitational Festival, the 2018 Maine All-State High School Mixed Chorus, an all-Guillaume concert at the Lincoln Center in NYC, and concerts with the Imbroglio Sextet at Carnegie Hall and at the 2018 ISME World Conference in Azerbaijan.

Takeaways... 1. There are many ways to promote human values. One way to do this is through lyrics. 2. Principles to guide your life can support your own values and ensure you are living the way you intend. 3. Sydney's 4 guiding principles are: * Mirror - remembering that every time you point a finger at someone there are three pointing back at you, asking yourself how you haven't been perfect and choosing to give people the benefit of the doubt * Coherence - consistency, practicing what you preach * Balance - not too much or too little of anything * Humility - keep an open mind, listen to different perspectives, and remember you don't know everything 4. Brenda's 3 guiding principles are: * Kindness - there's always time to be kind * Patience - things can take time and people develop in their own time * Perspective - be willing to look at things from multiple points of view 5. Do the work on yourself to be able to produce the work you really want 6. Reach out to the people who have impacted you. They really do love and value hearing from you

Building wealth with Megan Hackney Megan says, "I'm a nerdy Certified Public Accountant, lover of the details, sun-seeker, wannabee baker, health enthusiast and the older sister that can't help giving advice.
My goal is to help you take control of the financial health of your business, so you start to see consistent revenue growth and reach that 6 or 7 figure goal!"
She joins us on the Waves of Joy Podcast to talk about habits, mindset and strategies to build true wealth - both in terms of money and in the richness of your life.
Here are the takeaways... 1. Your money and your money mindset impact every area of your life from health, to happiness, to wealth
Money is simply a form of exchanging energy
If you don't feel like you have a lot of money, being generous with what you have (money, time, effort) can help to shift that for you
You speak your world into existence. Speak in terms of choices rather than what you can afford.
Internal self-reflection around what is important to you can help you make conscious choices
What gets measured gets managed. Consciously reviewing your numbers can help you make choices congruent with your values
Taking a pause before making a purchase can help make sure the purchase is something you really want or need

Jenny Goldfarb - founder of Unreal Deli has a way to revolutionize your sandwiches Unreal Deli makes the world's first premium plant-based deli meats as seen on Shark Tank and in the best sandwiches! Backed by 100+ years of NY deli tradition and voted the #1 Plant-Based Meat by Thrillist, our meat is made with whole vegetables and protein-rich grains from a (truly happy) farm, not a factory. Real deli meat, from plants.
Jenny Goldfarb, aka Mrs. Goldfarb or Mrs. G, is the Founder & CEO of Unreal Deli. With no experience in the food sector, let alone launching a company, she gave birth to this rapidly expanding business in her tiny kitchen while pregnant with her 3rd child. Jenny grew up on the Standard American Diet (SAD), and in her early 30s, learned about the plight of animals on factory farms, which led her to adopt a plant-based diet. After much trial and error, she became a whiz in the plant-based kitchen and realized the thing she missed most after becoming vegan was premium NY-style deli meat. She sought to recreate corned beef made from beets, chickpeas, tomatoes, and high-protein wheat. The recipe became such a hit that it encouraged her to produce her Corn’d Beef Reubens for Delis, Whole Foods, and even Shark Tank, where she took on Mark Cuban as primary investor. The company then developed Unreal Roasted Turk’y followed by Unreal Steak Slices.
The Unreal Deli product line can now be found in thousands of restaurant and grocery locations nationwide with more to come and just launched in Puerto Rico and Mexico.
Here are the takeaways... 1. If you've ever loved a dog, you can't be ok with the ways animals are treated when they are raised as food 2. When you can't find what you really want on the market, it's possible to create what you want - go out there and do it yourself 3. Unreal Deli provides REAL food, ingredients you can pronounce the names of and shows another way to eat a delicious sandwich 4. Learn on the job and allow things to unfold 5. Give yourself permission to learn as you go because you're never ready 6. Life is not a dress rehearsal, allow yourself to get messy, come at it from a new angle 7. Believe in what you have to offer so much that the rejections don't phase you. When your mission is bigger than your fear, the rejections become a way to learn 8. The reason people are ok with what is happening to animals raised for food is because it happens behind closed doors 9. Consuming meat means you are putting the stress hormones the animal released as it was dying. From both energetic and scientific standpoints, this is something worth you thinking about 10. Eating plants is delicious. The herbs and spices you love in your meat products are even MORE delicious in plant-based food, because those flavors are why you love the food 11. Create sacred time in your week where you unplug and connect with your family 12. Work only when you are in a good headspace. Use gratitude or kind deeds to help get yourself in a good headspace or zone. People will get the memo of your energy. 13. it's not about your products or offers. People want to buy expansive energy that feels good. Getting yourself in that place will make a huge difference in all you offer. 14. When we give, we get to feel like a creator. That's what makes giving such a pleasure. An example is the pleasure experienced during sex.

Here are the takeaways... 1. Food is fuel. It's not supposed to be used for entertainment, celebration, emotions, or anything other than to fuel our bodies. 2. Living enzymes with life vitality force are in the whole foods like fresh fruits, vegetables, legumes, grains and nuts. 3. A plant-based diet is also known as plant-forward or plant-prioritizing. This diet mostly plants. Most of the time. 4. A vegan diet is a morally guided plan that won't consume any product or food made from animals including leather or honey. 5. A success tip is to crowd out less healthy foods with vibrant, whole, fresh fruits and vegetables rather than focusing on cutting things out. 6. In the United States, we're living longer lives, but we're living sicker lives. We are living in the "Age of Man Made Illness" as opposed to Paleolithic Age. Most of these illnesses are caused by stress and food choices. 7. It's not normal to feel bad all the time. 8. Every meal you are either feeding disease or fighting disease. 9. One simple thing you can do is choose to consume foods that have a chemical reaction in your body that lowers cortisol. 10. Cutting back on caffeine can reduce anxiety. 11. Jessie Armstrong Jessie is a wife, the mother of a toddler, and a web3 enthusiast. After losing her job while 8 months pregnant, she started down a path of self-discovery that led to finding herself and remembering what it’s like to feel joy.
I invited her to join us on the podcast to educate us. And WOW! She did not disappoint!
Here are the takeaways 1. You don't have to wait for someone to show you, you can figure things out now
Follow people who are sharing ideas and learn from them
It's worth learning bout NFTs, Blockchain, Web3, and Crypto because it's becoming more mainstream
An NFT is a non-fungable token. It's a unique asset that lives on the block chain. Its uniquely valuable in the same way your personal cell phone is valuable to you in a way that an identical model of a phone belonging to someone else isn't of as much value to YOU.
Crypto and BitCoin are digital currencies that live on the BlockChain.
Block Chain is a form of decentralized information with many different computers monitoring the same information. The opposite would be centralized information all stored in one place such as google.
Web 3 is a more decentralized platform. Web 1 was in the early 90s, a write era, and was decentralized. Web 2 is our current era and has been around since blogs and social media came out, it is a read-and-write era.
The percentage of women being involved is minute. Women and non-binary people deserve to be a part of this.
We have the opportunity to create the world we want to live in.

Dear Mama Bear with the F* up hair This episode features children's book author and my friend, Jo Dodd. Jo has just written a picture book for moms with the BEST title... "Dear Mama Bear with the F*** Up Hair".
Is available on September 20 and is available for pre-order prior to September 20, 2022. Order your copy here
This episode is about motherhood, friendship, community, mental health, and so much more.
Here are the takeaways 1. Authenticity means showing up as you are and giving yourself space to have your journey 2. Feeling all of your feelings can be scary, but leads to greater clarity 3. People pleasing is the opposite of authenticity and leads to feeling alone and isolated 4. You don't have to hide and pretend things are ok when they aren't 5. Motherhood is funny, hard, rewarding, dark, light, and full of love 6. When you speak up about your experiences, not only do you feel less alone, but other people feel less alone, too 7. A rising tide lifts all boats 8. When you are willing to show up with authenticity, people are drawn to you 9. YOu can be scared AND keep moving forward 10. Keep friends around you that can hold the vision for you to celebrate AND hold your safety net 11. We need more feminine energy - love, creativity, expansion, receptivity, protectors of family and home... and protectors of each other
About Jo Dodd Jo Dodd is an author and coach. Jo had published three children's books in the past two years, and is currently launching a one-of-a-kind picture book for moms called 'Dear Mama Bear with the F*cked Up Hair.' This book tells an authentic, poignant, dark, sometimes humorous story of motherhood which is based on Jo's journey of battling a decades-long depression. We've traded our coaching and session privately several times and she's a fan of ThetaHealing. She had the idea to record the session. I'm so glad we did!! Now we are sharing it with you!
Even though this was a ThetaHealing session, Megan was helping me. She helps people get more visible, and focus on what matters most in their businesses. You'll hear an aha moment from me that Megan inspired.

Here are the takeaways * The core belief of "I'm not worthy" or "I'm not enough" shows up in several ways. It can look like hustling for worth, always feeling like you need to do more and be more, feeling like you've never worked hard enough or done enough * Your body always knows the truth. Trust your body's knowledge. You can use muscle testing to help. * Symptoms in your body are your body's way of telling you something. Asking your symptoms what they have to tell you can give you information. * Putting the brakes on your success, stopping and starting, or those "turtle shell moments" where you get ready to step into something big and then pull back can mean you have an unconscious belief or fear on some level (physical, spiritual, genetic, or history) and that can be shifted by identifying the fear behind it. * A fear that you can't deliver (meet the promise you made) keeps people stuck. This comes up for people in coaching, healing, teaching, health care and so many more fields. This can be shifted by trusting in yourself and believing that you attract people who will give you grace. * The fear of the people in our lives can impact our decisions. Learning to protect your energy from that fear can have a major effect on how you move through your life. * Leaking energy from an unbalanced part of our body can cause swelling and inflammation. * According to Louise Hay, founder of Hay House, our bodies talk to us and can be healed by paying attention to the feeling-state and affirmation she recommends. It's a little book available everywhere books are sold. "Heal your body, heal your life" by Louise Hay. * Pulling out energy strands in an area of your body that is experiencing pain can relieve it.

You've heard of manifesting. We are kicking off Season 2 of the Waves of Joy Podcast with Manifestation Coach, Diane Brandon Moody.
Diane first heard about manifesting when her philosophy professor in college taught her class how to manifest parking spaces. She refined those beliefs & figured it out eventually, and got married for the first time at 58. She was featured in the New York Times! in fact, she saw the feature just before she walked down the aisle. She has so many manifesting stories to share! On favorite was when she manifested a trip to London in 20 minutes flat!
Here are the takeaways * Manifesting is aligning your thoughts to what you want instead of what you don't want * Manifesting is a three-part process + Know what you want + Get out of your own way + Be willing to receive what you want * Be sure you are clear on what you say you want. When you go back and forth, it's like changing your mind on a food order.... it slows down the process * Follow your intuitive nudges. Things you keep thinking about that you feel called to do are usually guidance * Focus on what you DO want instead of what you DON'T want. Imagine telling a server... "I DON'T want the burger. I DON'T want the ravioli" Doesn't make sense, does it?? * Prepare to receive what you want. Make room. Dream. Plan.

Takeaways * Create a list of ways to feel good while you feel good that you can access when you aren't feeling good * Picture the infinity loop... you have to be willing to receive to fully give * The goal is to shift out of fight/flight/freeze back into rest/digest. (we practice several ways in this episode) * Pause. That's the first step in setting any boundary or responding to anything that feels triggering. * Stop the Auto-yes. * Say no with joy! * How to get out of the dip (negative thinking or negative feelings like fear, frustration, scarcity, sadness, etc) quickly is on the other side of your breath (we practice!)

Energy is everything Science - physics, in particular, tells us that we are all 99.999% energy and only .0001% matter. Isn't it interesting as though we move through the world acting as if it's the other way around?
In this episode, you'll hear some of Day 2 of the Yes to Me challenge.
Here are the takeaways * Hydrate to elevate - drink more water * Create a calm corner that engages your senses. Take those sensory experiences out into the world with you to create a sense of calm when you need to * Your reticular activating system - a bunch of neurons in your brain - functions to filter unnecessary things from entering your awareness and also is the reason after you go car shopping for a specific car, you see that kind of car everywhere. YOU are the one who decides what to see. * Asking to see signs is a beautiful way to feel connected to the universe - and to any loved ones on the other side * You speak and believe your world into existence. Think about what you WANT. If you have a thought you don't want... just say, "delete, delete, delete". * Let go of controlling outcomes * Change is a cycle... give yourself grace. If you are even THINKING of change, you're already on the path

How to Expand Your Energy Energy is everything. The world responds to YOUR energy and in this episode of the Waves of Joy Podcast, I offer an energy experiment inspired by Pam Grout in her book E2.
This episode includes some our the live Yes To Me Challenge Day 1 from August 23, 2022.
Here are the takeaways * Stress is addictive. Pattern changing might feel life-threatening because of that addiction. It's just a patterned rut in your thinking and can be changed. * Your ego might have to die a little but you won't die from allowing more ease into your life * When you are thinking or talking about positive things, your energy LITERALLY expands * Negative thinking or talking contracts your energy - you literally become smaller * Saying yes to you starts in small steps that when combined, make a big impact * Scaffold ways to feel better fast so you don't have to make decisions when you need to shift energy * Use the bathroom when you have to go. No excuses.

How to look great in photos with Kam Neth Kam Neth is my photographer. She is also the inspiration behind the name of this podcast, Waves of Joy.
Family portraits are her passion, she envisions a stress-free session capturing your memories in art for your wall. Kam has been a photographer for the past 17 years. Not only does she offer family photography, but she also offers branding for business owners.
Kam runs a non-profit called Little Heroes, which offers complimentary portrait sessions for terminally ill children under 18 and their families, and terminally ill parents with children under 18.
Here are the takeaways 1. Love what you do.
Communicating, listening, and working together are keys to not only working with a photographer but for life.
Giving in any way you can is really important.
Everything you say yes to is a no to something else. Choose wisely.
Work and play. As long as you are there, you might as well have some fun.
Every body can look good in photos. Take the time to pose.
Kids want to have pictures with mom.
Photos are fun now, but they are a way to capture memories for the future.
A lot of life is lost worrying about what people think.

I've been hosting free clarity coaching calls. It's been so much fun!! I've been talking with wonderful people who are asking great questions.
I had a call this week with a woman who asked, "what do you do if you're sad?".
The timing couldn't have been more perfect because this is one I'm living right now with the loss of my dog, Hutch.
Plus, how to manage sadness or other tough emotions is a question I get fairly often. Since I'm doing the work of being sad AND still accessing joy I thought I'd record a podcast episode about that question.
Here are the takeaways. 1. Experiencing the full range of emotions - all the feelings - is a good thing because it not only provides the contrast we need to really appreciate the beautiful moments, but it means we are processing our feelings.
Processing and feeling our feelings in the moment means we aren't storing them in our bodies as muscle pain, tension, headaches, inflammation or disease.
Lean in fully. Allow sadness to exist.
Then choose something that makes you feel better. A great song, a walk, nature, call a friend, journal, meditate.
Treat your emotional pain like your physical pain. If I had a skinned knee and I kept pushing on it and saying it hurts, you'd tell me to stop pushing on it, right? Same things with emotional pain. Feel the feeling and then reach for a better feeling thought. Don't ruminate on why you are sad.
Make a plan to feel better and be proactive about executing it.

Christine Fransisco was living a contented life taking care of the kids and working as a physical therapist when she was laid off from her 13-year career during COVID.
Christine is a mom of 4. She calls herself a "backyard writer" because she hasn't published her book yet, but she has more than 25 chapters written.
Takeaways * Give yourself permission to pivot. * Understand the season you are in - be aware of where you are in the moment * Know that season is going to change * Everyone has a story to share * Identity is often what we attach to what we do for a living. "I am" is a full sentence. * When our lives are shifting, things often get messy. But keep on moving. * Trying to control outcomes strangles what we want to call into our lives, letting go of HOW things should be unleashes the magic. Then life can amaze and delight you. * Providing safe space for people draws the right people to you * Focusing on the things that bring you joy increases your capacity * Be willing to be flexible * Trust the Process * Follow your intuition and your curiosity * Celebrate your now

From Christine.... As a wife and a mother of four with a full-time day job, I was making things happen and work my magic from 9-5. I had everything down pat until I lost my employment of 13 years during the pandemic.
The office door swung close behind me as I walked away downhearted. "What just happened?" was my thought so far. I was uncertain of the next best step and fearful of what was ahead. I don't have a clue of what the next day or the next year may bring. Sitting in the parking lot, I realized that my future was not set in stone. My significance as person is not always measured up with the 2-letter initials after my last name. I drove away leaving behind my name tag as a physical therapist. Since then, I found my writer's hat and started stringing words of inspiration.
I know how hard it is to face uncertainty. I understand how it feels to be stuck. But what I do with what I have keeps me going as I clear the path for others to do the same.
Discover what inspires you to be the person you truly are. Let me guide you as you find yours.

How to find healing by finding your wild Jen and Brenda met in the online space in a course for course creators and struck a connection.
Perfectionism isn't relatable and keeps us separate from one another. It keeps us stuck and can take us out of integrity.
Leaving perfectionism behind has allowed both Brenda and Jen to find a significant growth in intuition. Intuitive abilities are something we all have. It's a juicy conversation!!
Takeaways 1. Call in your people 2. Connect with nature 3. The challenges grow your skill set to be able to access joy 4. The answer doesn't lie in doing something (masculine energy). The answer lies in being (feminine energy). 5. Stress and the hustle are addictive, making it much more difficult for us to change the cycle. 6. We need to find ways to disconnect from stress. 7. Your ego being satisfied with your achievements is not the same thing as being happy and peaceful.

This episode is raw, unedited and recorded in my hotel room in the Seattle Westin after meeting Abraham-Hicks.
It isn’t accurate to say it was a dream come true to meet Abraham-Hicks and see Esther Hicks in person because I honestly never even dreamed it could be possible. It was incredible.
Takeaways 1. Life is supposed to be fun.
Feeling good is essential - it’s how you know you are on the right track.
Your inner guidance system is always leading you to the next right thing by igniting your curiosity and leading you to things that feel good
You create your reality by your point of attraction. If you want more of something - pay attention to that. If you don’t want something to happen again, stop talking about it.

Mary Robinson and Brenda Winkle grew up in the same small town of Chadron, Nebraska. They reconnected through social media several years ago and have been in touch since.
Mary recently published her new book, Seed, Stem, Bloom: Lessons from My Faith-Led Journey through CANcer.
Mary is a teacher of the visually impaired and a certified orientation and mobility specialist. She is the mother to four - 2 boys and 2 girls.
Mary was 38 in 2014 and nearly done with a 3-year-long project fundraising for a sensory courtyard for kids with special needs when she started to feel terrible. She was irritable, got short of breath going up the stairs, and had a little sore in her nose. Mary had a sinus infection, and while receiving medical care for the sinus infection, she asked her doctor for bloodwork. The blood work came back as pancytopenia. This is a condition where there is a lower than usual number of red and white blood cells and platelets in the blood. But they didn't know why Mary had pancytopenia.
The next day an oncologist diagnosed her with acute myeloid leukemia.
Mary was told she had a 50% chance of surviving. Mary knew she was in the 50% who would survive this cancer. She immediately told her husband she was going to survive. She had a mission to raise her children, to see them into adulthood.
It wasn't easy, but Mary recovered. Then three years later, she relapsed. At that point. Mary had a stem cell transplant. Mary is now cured and cancer-free.
Mary’s book follows her journey through chemo treatments. It comes from the entries she wrote on Caring Bridge during her time receiving those treatments.
This book isn’t just for cancer patients. It’s for anyone going through a hard time.
Here are the big takeaways from this episode: * Listen to your body. When you know something is off, it’s important to get medical care. Even though it can be scary to go to the doctor, not knowing is scarier. * It’s not necessary to be positive all the time. It’s ok to feel the big feelings and cry, then find the optimism. * Watch for and notice the signs of hope. * Guided meditation, deep breathing exercises, daily devotionals, visualizations, positive affirmations, music (Mary’s favorite is upbeat Christian music) all are great tools to use to feel better during tough times. * Ask for signs to know God (The Universe, Source, Creator) is with you. Rainbows, heart shaped rocks, whatever makes you happy * Find things to intentionally bring yourself joy like scents, sights, and other external stimulation to scaffold joy * Be wiling to feel better and feel joy during difficult times, that’s when it’s most important to lean on the self-care strategies * Give yourself grace * It’s important to give and receive * Energy work is connected to source, the higher power

About Mary Robinson Mary Robinson, M.A. is a warrior. She’s a mom, wife, sister, and daughter. In 2014, this always-on-the-go woman had a diagnosis that not only changed her perspective on life, it deepened her commitment to the one she already had. A bone marrow biopsy confirmed that Mary had acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Relapse in 2017 determined that an allogeneic stem cell transplant was the only option for long-term survival. During her fight for life, Mary was introduced to Reiki and became a Reiki Master/Teacher, which led to becoming a Healing Touch Practitioner. Mary is the author of Seed, Stem, Bloom: Lessons from My Faith-Led Journey through CANcer. Mary’s story and her life gives hope, reassurance, and sheds light on what an individual can do with an optimistic mindset and faith.
Episode 18 - Power of Morning Routines How you start your day matters. When you fill your cup FIRST, you increase your capacity to show up not only for yourself but for everyone in your life.
While on vacation in Hawaii, Jenny realized that the earlier she wakes up, the more things she can do, and the more fun she can have. So she started to wake up early. On vacation!!
When she got back to "reality", she realized she could wake up to something fun. Mornings used to be stressful.
Jenny found ways to have fun FIRST thing in the day, and it changed everything.

Hurt people hurt people.
The more you show up fully to claim your healing, to get in the flow, to be congruent... the more you can show up fully for everyone in your life.
It's going to take all of us being willing to love people into life. It's time to get past our ego's fear and resistance.
You'll hear (and get to join) a meditation and a soothing experience for your Vagus Nerve - the largest nerve in your body.
We - all us - are always connected.

I just got home from a retreat with Cathy Heller in Boca Roton, Florida. It was transformative. Healing.
I am more willing than ever to step into the work I’m called to do.
I want to share a letter I wrote while I was there. It’s a letter from 7-year-old Brenda to fully-resourced, adult Brenda. 7-year-old Brenda lived in Chadron, Nebraska.
When I was a first-grader, I went on a field trip with the first-grade class to Chadron State Park and fell into Bordeaux Creek. The other important background information to have before you see the letter is that I was sexually abused as a child. But no one believed me. I’m fully healed. There are no graphic descriptions or potential triggers in the letter. It is safe for you to listen.

Joy is a practice and in this episode, we talk about finding joy in the mundane, especially when things aren't going well. The catalyst to joy is often the hardest moment.
You will leave feeling inspired and ready to take the next step, even if that's all you can see.

You don't have to wait for permission. Download your free meditation here. This week I’m talking about reducing stress and how to stop asking for permission. When I talk about finding joy sometimes people think it means being happy all the time. Or they think it’s ignoring what’s happening in their lives that isn’t feeling good. Or they think, “I’m going to choose happy.”
That can be like forcing a square peg into a round hole.
What I’m talking about when I talk about cultivating real joy. Authentic joy. It’s really simple. It’s about finding ways to feel good. It all comes back to feeling good.
When you feel good, you are aligned to your Higher Self and to your source. The name you use for source doesn’t matter. Call it God, The Universe, Spirit, Source, the name doesn’t matter. The alignment does. Feeling good means you are in alignment. When you feel bad you are out of alignment.
The more you feel good, the more in alignment you are. You might be thinking, “That’s easier said than done.” But it’s pretty darn easy.
Stop waiting for permission. No one is going to come rescue you. It’s time for you to grasp the autonomy that comes from taking control of when you use the bathroom. When you do this, you put the universe on notice by saying “I matter.” And you put your own brain on notice telling yourself, “I matter.” You will show up differently in EVERY of your life when you treat yourself like you matter. And you DO matter. I'll be talking about putting this into practice by taking care of our hydration. You'll learn strategies to make sure you can drink water, find time to use the restroom and more. It might seem like a surprising place to start, but I promise you'll be happy you give it a try!

Why mistakes are necessary Giving yourself permission to make mistakes can open up a world of possibilities and allow you to do things messy. We want kids to give themselves grace and patience while they learn new things, and it's so easy to forget that you can give yourself the same grace and patience.
